Finally got the book!!! You are a hero for women!! I took your list to my new hormone doctor and she said, we will test what YOU want to test!! She’s a NAMS doctor and I think she’s a good one!!!! Thank you Dr Tassone…
I tried Berberine last year to see if it would help my cholesterol levels. I eased into it with one pill a day (600 mg) for a week and two a day (1200 mg) the next week so I could see if I had side effects, which I never did. Over a period of 8 months my total cholesterol went from 200 down to 178. Triglycerides went down from 152 to 103. It didn’t do much for good or bad cholesterol though. I also did not see any weight loss on 1200 mg. When I started taking 1600 mg ( 3 a day) I lost 5 lbs, I cycled off shortly after, so not sure how effective it really is for losing more weight. I cycle off for about 4-6 weeks. I have less bloating on it. It does suppress your appetite and less cravings for sweet food. An interesting note is my PCP had never heard of Berberine.
@@mellie_mel72 A modest reduction, but my LDL is reading at about 200. Every little reduction helps. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate the response. I wonder what @ShawnTassoneMDPhD has seen among his patients.
My Dr just started me on Metformin a couple weeks ago (off label for wt loss... I'm 66, have been post menopausal for 19 yrs, have no sugar problems & I eat Keto. I don't drink soda or alcohol & don't eat processed or fast food or at restaurants. AND since I'm just under 5', every extra pound shows 😬). I have Berberine but have never seen any difference with it.. I only just recently learned about Dihydro Berberine. My Dr had never heard of Berberine 🙄 I haven't lost anything yet since starting Metformin (other than my "normal" .5-1# daily fluctuations), but he eased me into it to help prevent side effects. I started whole 500mg tablets bid yesterday... Gosh I hope this works! I am desperate to the lose 40-45 pounds I've slowly gained over the last 30ish years 😢
Very logical and sequential. Excellent presentation...very matter of fact and no conflict of interest. Many thanks.. and as one woman commented is there a male-serving version of Dr Tessone?
If you looked at a recent study on metformin and those who exercise compared to a placebo and what it does to VO2 max you may be shocked. I think I'll stick to berberine.
I clicked on this by fluke. The picture mislead me. I thought it was Del Boy (David Jason) from only fools and horses. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the discourse and I am going to try the meds. 😂
I am concerned about using berberine because I have blood pressure that hovers around 90/60 almost every other day and sometimes goes into the 80's. I definitely don't want it any lower. Would this be a contraindication? Most people don't have to be concerned about low blood pressure.
I have naturally lower blood pressure two and in peri menopause and can only tolerate 500g once a day AM before first meal as two a day affected my blood pressure greatly… that I stopped totally. I’ve had a two week break and back on to 500g only as I felt great on it. I’m near to being pre diabetic so trying to do something about it. It’s a hard one taking supplements as General Practitioner Doctors don’t usually have a broad knowledge of alternatives. I’d seek some help from a Functional Medicine Practitioner or a Naturopath.
I use berberine to head off diverticulitis. If i take it at the first twinge of pain, it will resolve in 2 - 3 days so i don't have to take Bactrim and Metronidazole, which tear up my entire digestive tract and make me wish for death. I also can't take fluoroquinolones. I continue to take the berberine 2 - 3 X/day for a couple of days after symptoms disappear.
@@christineandcarlmilitz2883 I don't remember the dose of the one i usually take as I don't have it on hand right now. The one I do have, which seemed to work fine this last go round is 400MG and I take it three times a day.
I have had a radical hysterectomy in 2005 and been on Metformon since. I also take it because diabetes in in my family on both sides so dr told me it helps prevent that too. I have had no problems what so ever on Metformon and had no side effects. I also take B12 shots once a week.
The Endurance Company’s Dihydroberberine has vegetable wax (rice brand and/or carnauba), isomalt (vegetable), stearic acid (vegetable), magnesium stearate (vegetable), and silica. Am I looking at the wrong Endurance brand?

Im getting heart burn while taking berberine. Have pre existing acid reflex and heart burn issues. If i switxh to dehydro berberine will it be better? What dose?
I've been using dihydroberberine for over a year. I take 1500 mg a day. I lost weight, however the scale has stalled, but I'm still taking it. I'm thinking of taking a break, but worried I could gain the weight. I've had no side effects.
Dr Tassone- Do you recommend any of these options (or other options ) for women who are over weight with metabolic syndrome or prediabetes who are trying to lose weight and are trying to conceive (TTC). You mentioned no berberine for pregnancy or breast feeding women but what about those trying to optimize weight to improve fertility?? You mention in most your podcasts your focus is perimenopause and menopausal women but do you consult for women TTC? Or do you recommend any specialists who CAN consult with women who are TTC? Infertility rates are rising& many women who are TTC are looking toward holistic approaches to help them. Thanks for any help you can offer!
I had a partial hysterectomy and they never gave me any hormones. I see my gyn should I ask for some. I’m 65 and my ovaries hurt. This was at a young age after my third child…but having problems.
Because 99% of the time insurance companies won’t pay for the extended release version would because the regular version is like five dollars so you may have great insurance or you may just pay for it out-of-pocket but most people can’t do that
Good morning. I’m actually watching this now. Wonderful and very insightful. My apologies for the confusion. I just didn’t want to miss this but it started at 4AM CST. I’m over here in the state of WA, and being with it live would have meant waking up at 2AM. But regardless, I’m watching it now and it’s terrific information. I hope you have a productive day!
I almost never buy a supplement with multiple ingredients as usually i will be allergic tobone or several of the ingredients. Exception: an herbal complex of adaptogens that helps me sleep.
This guy tested 27 brands of Berberine. It’s shocking how many brands are 0 or less than the amount on the M label. ua-cam.com/video/_2oLWLsoIUw/v-deo.htmlsi=LznUxAnBt5ClWUOp

Yes

What results do you have?
Hello. My husband is 64 and, if possible, would you suggest an MD on UA-cam that would be trustworthy to watch for men? Thank you in advance.

But it is really difficult to buy pure supplements. Formulated ones may save you from some filler materials (inactive ingredients).
