I joined your waitlist and will be sitting on my hands praying to hear from you Dr. Sung! I just had to stop triple therapy for h pylori bc it was causing severe stomach pain and diarrhea. I told my new gi doctor I couldn’t take antibiotics after having cdiff 13 times over a year from taking kflex only once for a sinus infection. I wound up having a fecal transplant by the grace of my now retired gi doctor. I haven’t taken an antibiotic but twice in almost 14 years and that was for a uti. This new gi doctor I had to see for an endoscopy proved I had h pylori and gastritis but thankfully no ulcers or damage yet! He refused to work with me without using antibiotics. He told me he doesn’t do or believe in alternative medicine. I despairingly tried to find a natural alternative but the more I looked the more confusing it became. I hesitantly started the triple therapy for h pylori but only lasted 3 days before having severe side effects and had to stop. This being said, I’m desperately trying to get someone willing to help me try an alternative method away from antibiotics as they are way too strong for my system. I joined Dr. Sungs waitlist and pray he will reply and offer some help! I’m sick of these doctors and specialist not helping people who can’t take antibiotics! So many people die each year from c-diff bc their doctor doesn’t believe in alternative medicine or they just are flat out stubborn and don’t want to go outside their box to save their patient. It’s truly sickening! I certainly miss my gi doctor who retired but saved my life 14 years ago using alternative therapy.
I always have to laugh when these videos say to consult your physician first. Most physicians don't have a clue about supplements. They barely cover the topic in med school.
I’ve been taking this for about a year and I had my A1C checked last week and it is now 5.6! It started out at 6.4 and my Dr wanted to put me on Metformin but I refused. I explained what I wanted to do and he was very supportive. I am so excited! I am no longer a pre-diabetic!
I’ve been talking it for 3 months now, I went to the clinic for a UTI, they do the usual things including blood pressure. The nurse left the room then came back and said I need to double check your blood pressure again. It was 98/58. I said “ no that’s right!
That is amazing. I hope my daughter will have the same experience. She needs it for insulin resistance, but a lot of health issues roll downhill from that.
I have to presume that each of you making and validating this sentiment must be a physician. Otherwise, you’d just be making generalizations and assumptions based upon your biases. Thank you all for those professional input.
I have been taking this for three months. After two weeks I noticed that I didn't have carb cravings anymore. It was like a miracle. From there I was able to tackle some behaviors. Down 10 since June. Only 100 more to go but now I know I can do this with intermittent fasting and go all the way this time.

Every one of those benefits are related to one thing, and that is the decrease in insulin resistance. In other words, berberine, Lowers fasting glucose and hemoglobin A1c because it decreases insulin resistance. Berberine improves lipids because it decreases insulin resistance. Berberine improves PCOS because it decreases insulin resistance. So on and so forth.
After watching your videos on Berberine I have been taking it for 10 weeks and lost 14 kg (30 pounds). I actually took Berberine for the other benefits listed! It seems to have kickstarted my metabolism again. I’m taking 500mg twice a day with coconut oil and milk thistle (it’s a complex with dandelion, artichoke and choline, I was taking it already for non alcoholic fatty liver) Thank you so much for making these videos they are very informative and I find the format easy to follow
I started to take better care of my health when I went beyond my health care provider and listened closely to naturapathic and dietary information from others.
Read the book Lifespan by Dr David Sinclair. He discusses aging as an illness and gives you ways to help improve your longevity and health (which includes berberine)
Excellent content!! I presume that you reference talking to your doctor as a disclaimer because most docs wouldn’t have a clue about this. They are pharmaceutically trained and seldom understand how any substance, outside of that, can be beneficial etc. They’re licensing precludes the use of anything non pharmaceutical! It’s a very sad situation. There are few that are willing to practice outside their licensing and legal parameters. This is why patients meet with such strong resistance from a medical doctor. It’s not that they don’t care. They have to legally practice what they were taught and licensed to do. There are exceptions, but very few!
You are exactly right - they are sadly trained to treat symptoms and NOT ROOT causes - and will write a prescription for any and everything. The state of medicine is beyond sad, frustrating and disgusting. Our "medical care" here in the U.S. has become corporate medicine - where patients are shuffled from Doctors, to specialist to specialist - the root causes of their ailments never being discovered, and rarely being treated. Big Pharma and insurance companies run the show. Most Drs. are no longer "healers".
My dr always looks stuff up that I mention taking. She will then have a comment, like it's okay or if I should change dosage. I really appreciate that she IS open to nutrition/supplementation! It makes me feel that there may be hope.
So true. I presume I’ve been fired by my doctor, as they won’t answer the phone when I call, or return any of my messages. Why? Because I wanted to wait on getting the shot. You know the one, that requires boosters. Not because I’m an anti-vaxxer, but because I’m the person all pharmaceutical ads are refuting to when they list off all the adverse side effects. I almost died from Farxiga after being switched from the other deadly oral medication for diabetes, Invokana. Any way, this same doctor that discovered the cause of Diabetic Ketoacidosis that rendered me unconscious and comatose for 4 days (Farxiga) got very agitated when I asked if I could wait until some of the science to clear before I took another NON FDA approved medication. I really was hoping to get vaccinated, as I do have several comorbidities. Now here I am looking for a new physician, I literally haven’t been treated for my diabetes since mid 2020. I check my glucose regularly, and I now have a health BMI, losing 50+ pounds. I used to require an insulin pump. Haven’t had it attached to me in 2 years. When I started losing weight I adjusted down the insulin dosing as I started experiencing hypoglycemia. My sugars run between 150-200 so I’ve added walking and burberine I’m hopeful. Funny thing is, my chronic rash is gone, I’m no longer dealing with overactive bladder, and I’m no longer intensely hungry, and I feel satiated much sooner, I think my food portions are about half of what I used to feel I needed. I’ve only been on Berberine about a week, and I’m going to stick with it. I’m healthier now in my mid 59’s than I ever was in my late 30’s and 40’s.
When I told my GI specialist, he had no idea, never heard of BERBERINE and it's use. Not much better with GPs ( general practitioner in UK).. I feel safer reading peer reviewed articles and listening to the videos of the kind . Once you research the narrator's background, you are ready to help yourself when the doctors fail you.
I'm picking up some bulk berberine powder (fill my own capsules). I take 2 TBSP MCT oil with a milk thistle capsule, krill oil, and CoQ10 as my breakfast (plus coffee, half&half.) It seems that berberine will fit right in. I also have some pepper (pepperine) w/curcumin so perhaps the pepperine will amplify the availability.
I fill my own supplements as well. I just started taking Berberine so maybe I'll do the same with this. Did you find a good powder you could recommend?
@@amandaw.5361 I bought 500g from Bulk Supplements for $77. The powder is bright yellow. I don't know about the quality. I've been taking it for 2 weeks and have not seen a reduction in blood sugar yet.
Hi, I came across your video because I’m researching on BerBerine. I follow a bodybuilder and they mentioned about berberine. After watching your video I have a better understanding as to why this bodybuilder takes it. ….. it’s so mind blowing how doctors don’t talk about more herbal alternatives but prescribe pharmaceutical medications that can lead to other health issues. ….. thank you for this video. I hope you post more in the future.

Awesome video. You got to the main points quickly, answered all of my questions, and gave a more in-depth analysis of how it works. You did all of this without overwhelming information.
The “consult your physician” inclusion is to add a layer of legal protection as a disclaimer. In turn, most physicians don’t want to recommended or instruct a patient on using a supplement such as Berberine. Why would they though? They wouldn’t be protected from legal action if there was a bad reaction. There are so many supplement companies where quality control and source is unknown. I have had some doctors that won’t discuss at all. Period. Then others I have appreciated who explain they can’t professionally recommend but support your trying. Not all doctors are in the dark ages… it’s unfair to lump them all into one category!
Heard AMPK and other buzz anti-aging words, however never quite understood it. Dr. Sung you explained simple and better delivery understanding it to me. Thank you!
I would imagine that most regular doctors have never heard of Berberine. Most of the doctors I've seen have not. They are not up to date on most natural supplements.
This guy is the most well informed on Barbarine than anyone I have seen! 👏 No Doctor is perfect. Unfortunately they are human and will unintentionally err sometimes. The vast majority are trying to do their best with the unbelievable amount of information about physiology, treatments, all the plethora of medications and even surgical interventions they must learn in Med School. My son is in Med School for Neurology and the amount of stuff required for them to know is staggeringly incomprehensible. Also if their particular school does not teach certain things we can not hold THEM accountable for it. Med schools are known for often rejecting comprehensive medicine - stating lack of research. Pharmaceuticals are so useful in so many things but the profit motive is suspect. With supplements, available studies & anecdotal reports can add up to real data worth considering. We need to pick the right specialists and pick our health care providers very carefully for our particular situation. For example, my 5 Star Internist is AMAZING at LOTS of things - but she doesn’t know everything about everything because she is human - like all of us. ❤
Nice video! It takes about 9 grams of barberry branches, 12-25 grams of goldenseal flower, or 3-12 grams of goldthread, boiled into a tea/broth to provide the recommended 500 mg of beberine. If someone is brave enough to chew it directly, they get a higher concentration. If someone is taking the standard 500 mg capsules, made popular by the supplement industry, they probably aren't taking enough.
@@debralondon4295 : I have had clients with Barberry growing in their yard, and lots of people grow goldenseal flower. I usually buy goldthread as Huang Lian from Oriental pharmacies or online.
Thank you for this presentation! I'm here for the perimenopausal and insulin resistant; I was put on B/P meds last year and aside from not being able to lose weight due, my last blood work was normal for the most part but It did show I had elevated C-reactive protein, and I have seasonal allergies and a mild form of eczema, so my doctor attributed it to that, told me I needed to lose weight and that's what wrong with those doctors! I'm finding on my own that taking berberine and going on healthy diet with exercise of course will cure all this! I'm just glad I'm a nurse and sometimes I wonder why I even bother listening to some of those doctors, all they do is give you a freaking pill! Just useless!!! It's rare to find a holistic Doctor this day! Thank you so much! This is the most detailed presentation on Berberine!!! I actually just got the dihydroberberine which is better absorbed by the body than just the berberine!!!
I am taking Berberine for 2 months now and my hypoglycemic symptoms have improved. No more spikes in blood sugar after meals. I was very symptomatic and felt awful especially when I tried to eat (proteins especially) trying to get my blood sugar up to normal. My fasting glucose is now below 100 most mornings.
Wow, how am I supposed to pay you for all this variable information, after being struck by lightning and damaging a plastic part in my L4L5 and told I would never walk normally this has been one of my more important supplements over time reading, studying and looking up every word I didn't know to where these days I walk very good and suffer mostly discomfort as I take this with glycine , NAC, r- lipoic acid and resveratrol along with a few more essentials and my best bad pain reliever and prevention is my bicycle . Thank you for the benefit of having a better understanding with a few concerns to be aware of good sir and most of all having the interest to share your knowledge and experience, it is a gift for anyone searching to be safe and take a supplement the correct way....
I’m taking it for lowering cortisol levels. No bad side effects at only a couple of days in. I’m hoping it helps, I put on a lot of weight after my dad passed last year
Does it lowers cortisol? I feel so tired since I’m on Berberine. I have lost muscle strength on berberine. But my sugar BP and Cholesterol came down. So I’m still on it but not energetic anymore.
Dr. Sung, thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a practical way, love your videos. Could you do a video on metabolic disorder in the skinny diabetic? How it compares to the overweight diabetic, what goes wrong, how it develops overtime, etc. I have many family members and friends that believe they don't need to be careful and screen for metabolic imbalances just because they are skinny. In the popular media the ketogenic diet looks like specially targeted to lose weight, the before and after pics are always about loosing weight. You get what I mean...Thanks for your attention :)
Hi! Dr. Sung I am also interested in knowing more about skinny diabetics. I was begining to wonder if diabetes only affected persons of large body mast. Looking forward to this session. Thanks for sharing.

Great videos! Maybe consider getting a smaller whiteboard so that you can stand on the side of it. I like taking notes and screen shots. I have to try to catch you not blocking the information. Really good information. Thanks!
I switched from Berberine HCL to dihydroberberine a few days ago. It's supposed to have a much longer half-life in the body and much better absorption. I guess we'll see.
I lost all cravings after 3 days of starting and have to make myself eat. Have lost 9 lbs in 7 weeks. Have genetically high cholesterol so want to see if it helps with that.
I have been considering adding berberine to regimen but have found: dihydroberberine and berberine HCL and just berberine can you differentiate and possibly point me toward a choice for over all efficacy.
Excellent, and to increase absorption: in general, consume natural substances that contain the supplement ingredient you are taking; reason being they contain the complimentary ingredients to assist assimilation. . . :>/
Thank you Dr. Sung for all your videos. Have learned a lot! What brand for Berberine would you recommend? I have been researching brands but weary on some of them. Thanks for your help.
Just discover you ...its a wow. My brother just be diagnosed with alzeimer. So all the family we just want to avoid this issue. Can Berberine help in this case? Thank you so much for your research and so good information.
It may, because Alzheimers is now being called Diabetes 3. But I learned recently about vitamin B1 Therapy that's really helping people like your brother and people with Dementia. Please note this is a Therapy, it must be administered by a doctor, it's Not just taking any vit. B1. Check into it and God Bless
I’ve got this finally! (2-years keto/IF w/80# lost at plateau 50# to go) Drug interaction warning! Anti-seizure meds like carbamazepine/Tegretol use this CYP3A4 enzyme! Just like grapefruit. I will research, but hoping it also lets me use less carbamazepine💪since grapefruit (other than long 2nd-Kefir-fermented rinds?) are not so ketogenic💔
Across three medical networks, I never found an MD what would interact with me on such things, as they wanted me to take their prescriptions or they will disconnect and no longer communicate.
Just found you by searching three day fast. Love all the content. Would love to learn about caloric needs for post menopausal women especially when below average height. Petite women are completely different in caloric needs. I gain weight if I follow a calorie recommendation. My organs are smaller I’m told so needs are less unfortunately
Woow. I read this post and I feel so related. Ive noticed that my body is super sensitive to calories in general. Im 5’3” pre menopausal. I got sleeved 6months ago, even with all the restriction i have in my stomach, I m still too sensitive to calorie intake. Im doing water fasting this week bc apparently is the only time I notice any change on my body. Do u have any information reference about your statement? Id loved to find out more info about petite women and food. Thank you.
I’m on 500mg Metformin 3x a day. I asked my doctor about taking Berberine instead, she said I need to get my A1C down to 6.5 before looking at any alternatives. I’ve been on Metformin for 7 years A1C fluctuates between 6.0 6.9

BE CAREFUL WITH CURCUMIN.....BLOOD THINNER.
Where does one purchase Berberine powder?
Hi, I came across your video because I’m researching on BerBerine. I follow a bodybuilder and they mentioned about berberine. After watching your video I have a better understanding as to why this bodybuilder takes it. ….. it’s so mind blowing how doctors don’t talk about more herbal alternatives but prescribe pharmaceutical medications that can lead to other health issues. ….. thank you for this video. I hope you post more in the future.
Don’t you know that they get paid for every prescription. That weighs higher in their interests than your wellbeing 😉😉
the whole point is to get you onto meds as soon as possible and then keep you there.....thats common knowledge
MD…more drugs.
I am curious, why does your bodybuilder buddy take Berberine?
BIG PHARMAS SALES REPS ALSO KNOWN AS DOCTORS - KNOW THAT HEALTHY PEOPLE DON'T USE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS OR EVEN GO TO THE DOCTOR - HEALTHY PEOPLE ARE BAD FOR THEIR BUSINESS THIS IS WHY THEY DISMISS / MOCK & EVEN DOWNRIGHT FORBID PATIENTS FROM RESEARCHING & USING NUTRITION & SUPPLEMENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR SYMPTONS & HEALTH.
BIG PHARMA / INSURANCE COMPANY / PAID DOCTORS HAVE TRIED FOR YEARS TO GET HEALTH SUPPLEMENTS BANNED NOT BECAUSE THEY HARM BUT BECAUSE THEY HELP & HEAL ! !
Awesome video. You got to the main points quickly, answered all of my questions, and gave a more in-depth analysis of how it works. You did all of this without overwhelming information.
I started taking it yesterday...we will see!
Good luck. Sounds very interesting to me.
Meanwhile prescribed meds kills thousands every year…… but they’re ok with that…. Doesn’t make an ounce of sense
Excellent.
I am in the city with Johns Hopkins Hospital and have seen many of their doctors...hate to disagree with you!
Heard AMPK and other buzz anti-aging words, however never quite understood it. Dr. Sung you explained simple and better delivery understanding it to me. Thank you!
I absolutely love the way you teach, Dr. Sung! Thank you so much for all you post to help us be healthy. May you have peace and health. 🙏🙏
I would imagine that most regular doctors have never heard of Berberine. Most of the doctors I've seen have not. They are not up to date on most natural supplements.
This guy is the most well informed on Barbarine than anyone I have seen! 👏
No Doctor is perfect.
For example, my 5 Star Internist is AMAZING at LOTS of things - but she doesn’t know everything about everything because she is human -
like all of us.
❤
Do you have this in your yard?
@@debralondon4295 : I have had clients with Barberry growing in their yard, and lots of people grow goldenseal flower. I usually buy goldthread as Huang Lian from Oriental pharmacies or online.
Is this what the researchers were doing in the studies in order to give the recommended dose to the subjects?
I’ve taken Berberine to overcome constant hunger. It works wonderfully.
When I take the just the standard 500 mg capsule in the morning, by evening I get hypoglycemia. But I am taking it for cancer, not diabetes.
Thanks doc! Great help i must say... I just started for high cholesterol a couple of days back.
Excellent detail in this Comprehensive Guide....best to take the time to watch all chapters, do not pick and choose.
Really amazing amount of information delivered in a consumable format.
After hearing so much about this product I received it today…..
Just started taking it a couple weeks ago, I feel amazing
Which brand, and where did you order it from?
@alpal87 which one did u take?HCl or dihydroberberine
Probably the best channel I have found in ages. So helpful and clear! Thank you.
Also helps decrease secondary bile acids. that's a big one as these BAs are linked to colon cancer
I've never heard of secondary bile acids. 😳😳😳🤔
Great Video. But Doc . My primary care Dr is going to say. “ What’s that “ Most Dr’s won’t know WTH this is !
So glad I found you! You are a answer to my prayers
Your vid was very clear and to the point. Thank you.
Thank you Dr Sung! I'm looking forward to the results with the berberine. I appreciate your thoroughness. This gives me hope!
Best video that I have seen, very informative!
Thank you so much.
Greetings from Germany
I have only been taking it for 48 hrs and I do not have the cravings. ❤
Thanks to Chinese medicine! Berberine has been used there for >2000 years
I’m taking it for lowering cortisol levels.
Me, too.
One school of thought is the pancreas has parasites, this is for both thin and overweight individuals.
I think Dr. JASON Fung has a video about thin people with type 2D .
Absolutely brilliant information thank you so much
My total cholesterol went down 25 points since I consistently took it!
Took what? Can you list Berberine Name brand and dose you used to achieve this? Thanks.
Brand of what you took and how long did you take it?
Cholesterol isn't bad. It's ldl particle size and triglycerides
Dr Sung - Would it be possible for you to make a short video on dihydroberberine?
My new favourite channel. Brilliant material
I watched this Once then bought some
Then forgot about it Then thought about it yesterday I said "Na"
Then You Popped up on My time line today Either my phone is Reading my thoughts Or The Man Upstairs wanted me to Watch this again 😮
Outstanding vid on all the great benefits of Berberine! Thank you so much, Dr. Sung, for this great information!
God bless you Dr. Sung ,
your a big help to our health .
Where can I buy Berberine what kind ?
This is the most helpful video about berberine.
Dr. sung, is Oregon Grape a good source of Berberine? Thank you 🙏
Great videos! Maybe consider getting a smaller whiteboard so that you can stand on the side of it. I like taking notes and screen shots. I have to try to catch you not blocking the information. Really good information. Thanks!
Whiteboard content is in the description of the video. Best, DrJin
@@DrJinSungis it okay to take Berberine if hypoglycemic? Could it lower my blood sugar even more?
I would like to know which brand to buy. Do you have any suggestions?
I switched from Berberine HCL to dihydroberberine a few days ago. It's supposed to have a much longer half-life in the body and much better absorption. I guess we'll see.
I have the Berberine HCL it makes me sick. Was that your experience?
can you let us know what brand, how much and how often. Any success in your blood sugar levels ?
be careful about the latest in marketing. While it seems to have lest side effects taking it, labs showed there wasn't any more in the body.

GREAT info, thank you from a Sibo sufferer.
Dr, I have a question: is it safe to take berberine if I don't have a gallbladder,?
I take a berberine that also includes ceylon cinnamon and milk thistle. Seems to be working great for me without a gallbaldder. I get it from Amazon
Today is my first day, taking berberine, Sunshine Nutrition Brand, finger crossed, hope it works
How did it work for you??
Wow! This berberine fixes everything! Sounds too good to be true!
But take it with milk thistle but not every day and in small amounts

wonderfully comprehensive and incredibly helpful - thank you :)
I lost all cravings after 3 days of starting and have to make myself eat. Have lost 9 lbs in 7 weeks. Have genetically high cholesterol so want to see if it helps with that.
Doc... you need to up your mic - sound is low
Thanks for the presentation!
Thank you for a comprehensive guide. Other videos cover only part of it.
I have been considering adding berberine to regimen but have found: dihydroberberine and berberine HCL and just berberine can you differentiate and possibly point me toward a choice for over all efficacy.
Helped my IBS immediately on my second day of taking it. I didn't purchase it for that. I got it for weightloss 😮
Very insightful. Thanks a lot
Yes,indeed works base on Clinical Laboratory Report. 👁️🙂
Thank you for presenting this information with such clarity.
I wish I could memorize all this!
I watch youtube on my TV where I can "pause" when needed and type up the pertinent info on my laptop!
Thank you so much for the thorough explanation.
I find berberine a great help with lowering high blood pressure.
Thank you! Important information!
Excellent, and to increase absorption: in general, consume natural substances that contain the supplement ingredient you are taking; reason being they contain the complimentary ingredients to assist assimilation. . . :>/
Surprised this information is allowed. Thank you for it.
Love the info. Please fix your sound levels. I had to stop early because it was blowing out my ears.
Great information. Thank you from Vermont
Thank you Dr. Sung for all your videos. Have learned a lot! What brand for Berberine would you recommend? I have been researching brands but weary on some of them. Thanks for your help.
Thank you Dr Sung, for sharing valuable information that promotes good health!🙏🏻
Take gotu kola for alzheimer's
Try black seed oil.extract and aged black garlic for your brother ..good luck
Hey Doc, I really love your videos, but I'm hearing the traditional berberine doesn't absorb well. What do you think about dihydroberberine?
I’ve got this finally! (2-years keto/IF w/80# lost at plateau 50# to go)
Drug interaction warning!
What is the best brand to buy and how to take each day??
I read the ceylon cinnamon also helps berberine absorption.
I read the same. Cinnamon helps by itself too 😚👌
Ceylon
Across three medical networks, I never found an MD what would interact with me on such things, as they wanted me to take their prescriptions or they will disconnect and no longer communicate.
Excellent coverage. Thank you!
I’m on 500mg Metformin 3x a day. I asked my doctor about taking Berberine instead, she said I need to get my A1C down to 6.5 before looking at any alternatives. I’ve been on Metformin for 7 years A1C fluctuates between 6.0 6.9
7 yrs is a long enough trial. It won’t do it.
Very informative content! Thank you.
