No twerking, no cursing, no autotune, no 100 backup dancers. Just pure, natural talent, charisma, and communication with the audience. It was all there for these wonderful ladies.
It's just the other side of the 70s and they're women, black, and black women. Wearing tight, skimpy dresses, and gyrating their hips slowly, is the twerking of the time. Acting like sexual stimulation isn't 90% of entertainment during that time is bs.
As a 62 year old White male. I loved this song when it came out way back when. But seeing this video for the first time. I really love the Pointer Sisters now!!!!! They are 1 class act!!!!!!
Oh my god---I loved this song soooo much when I was just a little kid back in the early '80s...but I never knew until right now in 2024 that it was the fabulously talented Pointer Sisters!!!
It's a shame Bonnie left the group when she had one big hit --- but her sisters eclipsed her early stardom and just become STRATISPHERIC! Much 🤎 to all 'dem dames!'
@@Iceis_Phoenix I didn't know about her death. While she leaves a void here on earth, she's reunited with her sisters and family in Heaven, where there's no more pain or tears. I can hear her singing "FIRE" in Heaven now 😎
The harmonizing is perfect...each voice adding that special color and touch to a unity unmatched any where, any time, any group. Their sound and power is unique....forever.
I live in Chicago, and when this originally came out WLS altered the song to say “When You Turn On WLS” instead of The Radio. That was such an incredible time to be alive. Oh, how I miss those simpler days…
Thank You Sisters For making This Song our Theam Song every time We Hopped into our Boy Friends Car! Wink! Wink! Rest In Eternal Peace In God's Arms Anita Pointer! Buddy Love Momma Lucy
You're right, and besides that, they are from Oakland California, the most underrated city in America. Go there and you'll never forget it, people are alright ,not like the rest of the state
The band's 30-second pause at 3:30 is brilliant: the longer the pause, the more the contrast between harmony and emptiness drives the crowd wild then ...Romeo and Juliet and the fire starts up again.
Wow. The crowd is unreal. The energy is absolute... well... fire. Regrettably, I sometimes forget how much I loved them growing up so I'm glad to have things like this to remind me.
I was in 5th grade in 1979 when this song came out. We had a record player in our classroom and played this song all the time. Our favorite part was also the 'Romeo and Juliet / Samson and Delilah' part.
My future brother-in-law, Greg, turned me on to the Pointer sisters, something I am so grateful for!!! I love you brother!!! Keep the music on 🔥 girls!!!!
Electric. What a performance. Thanks for uploading, a rare opportunity to see them in the earlier stage of their career, smashing it. Love to the sisters, what a legacy they have left ❤
Reminds me of the talent of Al Green He was on stage with out all the additional back up dancers and whatever else Love to hear them sing “Jump” Put me in a good mood driving to work and heard it on the radio
The 70s & 80s had the best Family Sister Groups. The Pointer Sisters,Sister Sledge, The Emotions, and The Jones Girls, All of them could sing and we are never going to see great performers such as the 70s & 80s ever again.
I can’t choose a fave pointer song. There’s too many fantastic ones. This is fantastic but I’ll have to go with I’m so excited. That song never fails to get the crowd going.
I got the pleasure to see them play at my Apple Computer Christmas Party in 85 or 86 in San Francisco. These women had it going on, so very talented, and their harmony is so over the top, can you imagine growing up in their house and music/singing going on. Simply Brilliant!
So I am a younger (recent) audience of the Pointer Sisters. Even just heard the song from Walmart radio. But damn is this song captivating!! 3:28 only proves this more. That sustain at "cool" was so agonizingly marvelous that they got the everyone in their palms, begging...and so was I
Rest in paradise,💐Anita Pointer.😢💔 Thank you for your work that helped create our childhood soundtrack.💫🕊️🌹 I’m So Excited is still one of the most amazing and uplifting songs that I’ve ever heard. Thank you so very much! Rest in peace.🌹🕯️
Wow. They worked that crowd with sheer talent as sisters. Each one of them had their own unique vocal which blended well with each sister. Rip June and Anita
I am 60 and this seems like yesterday. Yet if I had been 60 then I would now be 102 ! Boy oh boy life is so short and the lovely sisters are no longer with us. Great memories though.
when she started singing i just got goose bumps all over my body. Not only was this HUGE when it was out (and I was just a kid) but the memories of better times are huge.
These ladies were classy, no swearing, no sexual displays,no twerking or any other non sense
Just badass talent❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this was '81,so.....nobody was twerking or swearing on records
these girls kick bruces song but bruce covers dylans chimes of freedom like no other
Think we already covered that 5 years ago in another comment of same nature. 😂 Seen above yours.😂
Rest in eternal rhythm Anita.
❤
Still listening. RIP June and Anita
Bruce wrote this song originally for Elvis Presley but Elvis died, so he gave the song to the Pointer sisters
if Elvis had sung this,oh boy it would be explosion.
Elvis would have destroyed this song ,not his style
You’re wrong.
Agree it’s u on that statement!
No twerking, no cursing, no autotune, no 100 backup dancers. Just pure, natural talent, charisma, and communication with the audience. It was all there for these wonderful ladies.
Ruth's granddaughter does twerking in their current performances, but she is adorable. Has a smile that reminds you of her Aunt Anita.
Twerking is ALWAYS embarassing! I adore these ladies!
I CAN'T STAND TWERKING !!!!! SO STUPID. Real talent doesn't need a Gimmick !

No Female group in R& B history had tighter harmony than the pointer sisters.
They the BOMB!!❤❤❤
Sibllings' vocal groups have a big advantage that way.

I LOVE THE POINTER SISTERS WHEN THEY SANG WITH THE DOOBIE BROTHERS., ANOTHER BOYS FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY.
I needed some fire, came to the right place.
This song is FIRE!!! It's simply perfection!!
If course it is, it was written by The Boss and performed here to a standard that merits the song writing.
