No twerking, no cursing, no autotune, no 100 backup dancers. Just pure, natural talent, charisma, and communication with the audience. It was all there for these wonderful ladies.
It's just the other side of the 70s and they're women, black, and black women. Wearing tight, skimpy dresses, and gyrating their hips slowly, is the twerking of the time. Acting like sexual stimulation isn't 90% of entertainment during that time is bs.
As a 62 year old White male. I loved this song when it came out way back when. But seeing this video for the first time. I really love the Pointer Sisters now!!!!! They are 1 class act!!!!!!
I live in Chicago, and when this originally came out WLS altered the song to say “When You Turn On WLS” instead of The Radio. That was such an incredible time to be alive. Oh, how I miss those simpler days…
I got the pleasure to see them play at my Apple Computer Christmas Party in 85 or 86 in San Francisco. These women had it going on, so very talented, and their harmony is so over the top, can you imagine growing up in their house and music/singing going on. Simply Brilliant!
Whenever I have a bad day I watch this video. I imagine being in that tiny club in NC only to be world famous a couple years later. They blew up in the 80s. They sang different genres and they had something for everyone. I think they're awesome!
Wow. They worked that crowd with sheer talent as sisters. Each one of them had their own unique vocal which blended well with each sister. Rip June and Anita
Im so glad that i found this in utube, since i was young i heard my sisters singing thier songs, now im in my 50's and i still love thier songs and its 2021!!!!wow thank for this.
As an International Fashion Model and Talent, Miss Alabama model, I would never have been able to do runway modeling nor photo shoots, without The Pointer Sisters. You made me great.
i just came from a recommended video by littlemix...smh. I have turned into my parents 'what is this garbage these kids are listening to?' THIS is real music..Pointer Sisters defined the 80s with songs like 'Jump' 'Automatic" and 'Slow Hand' and my perennial favourite 'Happiness'
Love ❤️ this video, Anita gets the crowd going with her beautiful voice, love ❤️ this song 🎶.🥰. These ladies are fantastic, love ❤️ all of them. I could listen to them all day and night.🥰
There's something so incredibly warm and welcoming about this performance. It's coquettish, but also friendly. And the audience! It's so diverse, so enthousiastic and so supportive!
@@sherryboulden5013 Hey! That's very good to know, I just can't stop myself from listening to this song anytime am alone, if I may ask which of all their songs is your favorite? Have a great day... Stay Safe
Definitely fun to watch & talented too ! It took me a while to figure out this was not their song but Bruce Springsteen's. They do a great job with it !
July 5th, 2020, New Orleans here!!! Dear, swinging lovely ladies. God bless them. And for comedy trivia collectors, don't miss the late Robin Williams, totally off the wall rendition (in an Elmer Fudd voice)., doing "Fire'... "I'm dwivin' in my car..you turn on dah wadio.." Freaking hysterical.
Were you the guy in the yellow sweater and well coiffed hair? LOL! The Pointer Sisters just posted this concert in FULL a few days ago. I always wanted to see it and now everyone can watch it as it happened. What a wonderful concert it was?!?!
No that wasn't me. I was about four persons down from yellow sweater. When the concert aired on PBS, I looked for myself was just out of camera angle. It's kind of funny because everybody keeps commenting on the energy the audience had. While it was an excellent concert, the truth is the producers of the show told us before they started taping that they wanted us to have a lot of energy. They stressed that they wanted a lot of energy from the audience.. and I swear to you--- when the audience interrupts The Pointer Sisters when they are singing " Fire" I can remember thinking "we're doing a little too much".😂🤣🤣😂
@@rwlowe6177 Ha ha! I love inside stories. I know what you are describing. I've been to a few taping(s) and the camera guys, producers out of view are usually instructing us to clap, shout, whatever. But why was it so hot in there for February, wasn't there air conditioning? Also, the guy who introduced the Sisters, was he the owner of the Attic? I thought it was taped for CBS instead of PBS. Since the full concert was posted, I have watched it several times.:-)
Another inside, I want to say the tickets were $10. We were shocked that the taping would be done at the Attic because it was known as a hard Acid Rock club. And their logo was a noose (Google it). I'm not saying it was racial, but I had been in Greenville for four years and I had never stepped foot in that club before that taping. The Noose had been the topic of discussion so it was really strange to see so many black people in the Attic. We (black students) went to a club around the corner called The Jolly Rodger-- where disco was King.
No twerking, no cursing, no autotune, no 100 backup dancers. Just pure, natural talent, charisma, and communication with the audience. It was all there for these wonderful ladies.
Ruth's granddaughter does twerking in their current performances, but she is adorable. Has a smile that reminds you of her Aunt Anita.
Twerking is ALWAYS embarassing! I adore these ladies!
I CAN'T STAND TWERKING !!!!! SO STUPID. Real talent doesn't need a Gimmick !
