  • I was interested to see if there was any merit to the thicker stanchion craze, as it's not as if the Fox 36s are a wet noodle. Join me for a lap down some of the local chunk to test them out on my Norco Sight.

    No 4k this week as I'm experimenting with 60 FPS and some other settings. Let me know what you think of the footage.

      @@manningthomson7918 thanks! I like the higher frame rate too, maybe I'll shout myself the new GoPro so I can do 4k60

      Looks mint, mate! Personally I'm a fan of the lower frame rates because the footage looks closer to real life speed, but this still looks schmick. Have you considered ND filters to get that nice motion blur?

    Nice insight....makes the wait for my 38's that little bit harder now :)

    Awesome! Are you able to put up your build specs and that thumbnail or for Sight? It looks awesome! I'm looking to emulate your build as I get more $$

      Thanks man, yeah it's a beautiful looking bike. I want to do a bike check video but in the meantime I'll add a post to the community tab with the specs.

    Another banger mate. Are the 38s staying then??geez I swear you were hitting the creek gap hahaha

      @MTBMcPhee  2 роки тому

      Thanks Emma! The 38s are definitely staying, I'm a total convert. I had the speed but I don't think I'll be hitting that gap again any time soon 🤕

    Interesting. Rear travel and type of Shock plays an integral role in overall suspension; not just Fork? What is your basic setup? Cheers.
    My 2021 Giant Trance X279 has Maestro 135mm DVO Topaz 2 travel paired with Fox Factory 36 Grip2 at 160mm --- so plush and amazing; until you exceed drop depth on rocky flatish landings like 3-4 ft-- rear needs more travel? Personally, not sold on extra cost to upgrade to 38 here, unless I change frame with more travel like 160-180? 2cc.... thoughts !

    • @MTBMcPhee
      @MTBMcPhee  Рік тому +1

      Yes I agree, the 38 isn't worth the upgrade below 170mm unless you're very fast, very heavy, or you ride an ebike. I found the 36 to be ample at 160mm on my trail bike. You may want to play with tokens for your rear shock though as I was able to hit drops that big on my Optic with no issue and that was only 125mm rear. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    I think once I’ve fully roasted my fork I’ll grab a 38. Maybe if I decide to not service my 36 again for a couple years it will make that decision easy.

      Something tells me you’ll be in the market for more than a new fork by then 😂

      I find it impossible to consistently measure sag on a fork but my settings are very close to recommended, just a bit faster rebound
