    I'm 210-215 (depends on how many BBQs I've been to that week) and I rode a 32 until 2014, then a 34 until this year. I've lived in the Rockies, and North Vancouver in that time. I just got on a 36 (Capra Pro Race), and while I feel the difference, I haven't felt under forked since the 32, in the slightest. I'm not sure I'd switch to a 38... Feels too close to the 40 I run on the DH... but who knows, maybe some day. Great review.

    about to upgrade my 2015 trek slash 8 from a 2016 fox 36 factory to the new 38 factory. i went to a bike shop just to press on the fork a bit and the difference between my 2016 36 and the 38 is unreal. my current fork is awesome and has handled everything i throw at it, more or less, but on big jumps it feels like jumping into a pool of water. theres a ton of stiction at the very top of the stroke and then there's very little support throughout the rest of the stroke once you break thru that initial bite. the 38 had literally 0 stiction and i could compress it with one arm but it still felt like it had a ton of support

    I think even if a rider is less than 200lbs, the stiffness and low flex would be a big improvement over really technical terrain. This fork is so beefy, it's a game-changer for those really fast, technical trails where picking a line is more important than just horsing through chunder.

    Bro.. you should get some props for this vid! Making me want one just by talking about how it felt thru the flat corners! Hahah but seriously looks soo darn good & composed..
    ~My current fox 36 developed some serious clicking in the steer tube of the fork.. sent it back and they changed the uppers for me.. but only a week or two later and I’m getting that old familiar click here and there in the headset of the fork steer tube.. might need to send it back a 2nd time if this is really happening again, anywho maybe I’ll have to see about a new 36 or 38 as I’m going to be putting the Cascade link on my Megatower & a 170 fork May pair well with the added rear travel.
    Let me know your thoughts, loved this vid 🤘🏼

      Thanks bro! Ah man the 38 would we a rad combo to go with that cascade link! Hopefully you get that issue figured out. Thanks for your review! How does it feel off the top? Is it fairly plush in small but tooth shaking chunder? My trails have some consistent half foot to 2 foot hits but there's also a bunch of rock gardens you can just roll/plow thru. I guess very similar to the section you did on your local trail here!

    • @loamtroopers
      @loamtroopers  4 роки тому

      The top of the stoke has a ton of small bump compliance. I would say that’s is the softest part of the stroke. Then it has good ramp moving through the rest of the travel. Definitely the best I’ve ridden by far through the chunder and jank. Really grippy on the roots too. I hope that helps.

      Thanks dude! I can’t say anything against the Zebb sense I haven’t ridden it but I’m sure it’s also a great unit. I would imagine, the Fox is a bit more progressive if you really get down to the nitty gritty but that’s just my guess. Upgrading to the Grip2 damper alone is a huge upgrade. You couldn’t go wrong investing into a 38 or a Zebb.

  • @BrianBarran

    Great review of the 38! I'm considering an upgraded fork on my Bronson, leaning toward the 36 to gain responsiveness and enjoy a good weight savings over my stock Yari, but with the awesome things I'm hearing about the 38 that comes in at about the same weight I'm thinking it is a possibility. Just under 200lb rider with gear, occasional enduro race in the Tx hill country. Given your experience with the bronson what do you think?

    • @loamtroopers
      @loamtroopers  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks, Brian! I appreciate that dude. I think you would definitely be stoked on the 36 coming from the yari. Obviously a whole lot more to offer. Now for the decision between the 36 and the 38, I haven’t thought about a 38 on a Bronson... but I like the idea! The 38 at 160 would be so much fun and a total weapon. Sense you’re already making the investment, I would probably go 38, but if you’re wanting to stay at 150 up front, then just go 36. Grip2 36 is going to be sick also. As for the weight difference, in my opinion you’re not going to notice that much. It’s 100% worth the strength. I hope that helps!

    • @loamtroopers
      @loamtroopers  3 роки тому

      If you raise the travel in the front, it will cause the seat tube angle to be typically a degree slacker. Which will result is the seating position while pedaling to not be as optimal. But, in my opinion, the benefits from the bigger fork are worth the sacrifice! I hope that helps 🤙

      I’m very aggressive with my suspension though, so this is plush for myself but may feel a bit too responsive for some. I would run my 36 always at max psi, all volume reducers, and fairly closed. I think this fork has a lot more fine tuning then previous 36 models.
