Wow Craig, great video and damn good riding buddy. It was fun watching you and marvelling at the trails, thanks for the content. Ride on and have fun buddy
Can’t wait to see how it goes. Came very close to pulling the trigger on one of these but I’m a one bike person and don’t know if it was going to be enough of an all rounder. Stoked for you. Love the vids n
Now you have this will you set you sight back to 160-150 as with your sight 170-157 slacker set up you would have x2 very similar bikes now. Or is there still a big enough gap to just leave the sight
I'll probably find a new home for the Sight, though I do want to try it with a 160mm fork and trail tyres before I decide fully. I doubt I'd go back to the air shock though, I find the coil so much better.
I think I’m mostly noticing the extra weight on those long climbs rather than the idler, but it is a bit harder work. Seated position is really good and the coil has good grip even with the climb switch on
It's the new fad in long travel bikes. The main pivot is high so the rear wheel moves rearwards as it goes through it's travel, which is supposed to help it get out of the way of bumps. I "think" it works, but so far it just feels good instead of being the game changer that some people believe it to be.
Has the optic gone now bud? I was keen on one and wasn't sure the travel would be enough until I saw what you put yours through 😄 Ordering one soon now. Cheers for the vids.
Nice! I am currently riding a Pivot Switchblade, which I feel is a very playful, zippy trail/enduro bike. I have my sights set on a more burly enduro basher for rougher trails. Doesn't need to be playful at all since I'm riding the Switchblade already, was looking for a straight-line planted smasher as I don't jump all that much either. I am eyeing this one and previously the Commencal Meta AM 29. Would you say the Range errs more on the side of big bruiser or playful nimble? Or could you recommend a bigger enduro bike that can smash the chunk? Beautiful trails btw, and nice riding. Greetings from California, USA, I subscribed.
Hope you enjoy seeing the riding here in Sydney! The range is definitely not playful and I think it would compliment your switchblade well. I’ve owned a Specialized enduro and it felt quite similar if that’s a bike that is more available where you are. I’ve never ridden in The States but I absolutely love California 👌
@@MTBMcPhee Thanks! Yeah the trails look awesome. Thanks for the info, that's very helpful. Yeah the Range has me intrigued, all the reviews I'm seeing are saying it's a fast bike. And of course the high pivot looks fascinating. Hey on a random note, a lot of California has been implanted with eucalyptus trees (blue gum they call it). It's funny because UA-cam often randomly recommends Australia mtb videos for me for some reason. So I see the trees and I often think it's in California but it's in Australia lol. See for instance this video, this is at a college nearby in Southern California. ua-cam.com/video/p9DnOwp8D40/v-deo.html But for the most part the south of California is mostly desert terrain, similar to Arizona, while the northern parts are lots of redwood forests. Happy Riding and thanks again!
Hey bro I need a affordable dual I found one the polygon Siskiu d5 2022 model my dad keeps on shit talking saying it’s bad I can’t do $2000 it’s too much that’s why I like the bike that I’m looking at because it’s $1500
I've got no experience with Polygon so I can't really comment on that bike sorry man, but if I was looking for a good bike on a budget I'd probably wait for something to come up second hand. There's also nothing wrong with a hardtail. Good luck!
Looks awesome I ordered a shore and then saw this come out! Wish I waited
I’d love a shore park! Sick bike
Yew! You must have ordered right at the get go?!? Looking forward to the senditure on that beast. Great vid
I knew it was coming before I bought the Sight, so this has been in the works for a long while!
Wow Craig, great video and damn good riding buddy. It was fun watching you and marvelling at the trails, thanks for the content. Ride on and have fun buddy
Looks great Craig …. I like the fact that you said the bike pushes you fwd instead of “hanging up”
that is one hell of a build and color. dream bike
Thanks man. I’m loving it too 🙌

Thanks man 🙏 it’s not a one bike unless you really like to punish yourself!
Did previous year models have more all-rounder geo?
@@dhops81 yeah the sight is definitely more of an all-rounder
what was the first trail you road, it looks so sick!
Well, it sounds dialled Craig, nice👍

@@MTBMcPhee well if you ever convert it back to air beofre you sell and want to sell that coil. Let me know
Hey Craig, from which shop are you buying your Norcos in Sydney?
99 Bikes Bondi (ask for Conner)👌
Great looking bike mate, I'd need a bash guard on that drivetrain lol Getting the wobbles in my old age,
It comes with one 💪
Where's this trail?? Looks sick
Far northern Tasmania 😂
Hey man I was wondering where these trails are located and what there called?
Mint bike! Ever better rider 🤙🏼
The bike is definitely better than the rider! 😂
Were you up in Bright recently?
😂 no that was @saintberry. He copied my bike
Looked like you were getting a bit of a confidence bost to let it rip by the last run.
How is it to climb longish fire roads? Do you notice much drag from the idler?
I think I’m mostly noticing the extra weight on those long climbs rather than the idler, but it is a bit harder work. Seated position is really good and the coil has good grip even with the climb switch on
@@MTBMcPhee thanks mate.
Does it have much pedal induced suspension movement under normal climbing (seated)?
@@MADED6 no more than the Sight with a coil. It doesn’t feel inefficient to me, just heavy
@@MTBMcPhee thanks mate, Legend.
Now to decide Dreadnought or Range.
Sweet ride.
Why does the chain go up the way it does. I am lost on that one

Those trails look mad. What part of Aus?
Southern Sydney 💪
What trails where you riding
What’s your camera setup?
Just a hero 8 on chest mount 🤙
Sure is noisy, but looks very capable 👍🏼 Trails look awesome too
User error with the bottle cage positioning 🙈 The frame does resonate a bit when something hits it though
Yes bud! No offense but I must admit I am stoked for you and hate you in the same breath...... Cannot wait to see this beast in person!
Ahh man I feel for you and Condog so much
@@MTBMcPhee All good, is what it is. Something will come my way, just not what I had originally planned

Definitely not! The plan was to have optic and range but I might keep the sight as well since the range feels so much larger 🙈🙈🙈
I’ve owned an optic for the past two seasons and wow!! Anything single black and under I’ve set pr’s on! It’s a hell of a bike!

Which model Shimano cranks did you put on yours? Struggling to find the right crank arm clearance on my XTRs I just got for mine.
These are XT cranks. I had to put a small spacer on the drive side or the chainring hit the frame
@@MTBMcPhee The normal 8100 model or 8120?
8100s yep! I'm not sure which shimano BB was used though, the shop just did that for me while I watched on

Video just skipped forward as soon as you began Mannikin climb, was there something you didn't want us to see 😂
😂😂😂 it’s more unpleasant but I still made it up
I like the part where you cut out the shortcut on manniken. 🤦♂️😂
I like cutting out lots of manikin. Especially the climb out.
MTB McPhee yep. Even sucks on an ebike 😢
Nice 👍
