The moment Wilbur's finale stream ended, I knew I had to write, but for hours, I couldn't. I just sat on the floor of my dorm, contemplating the events that came to pass, wondering what angle I could possibly capture this tragic story of two brothers from. Later that night, it hit me. I wanted to capture the fact that Wilbur's character was a bad person. He left in the end because he was a coward and ultimately told Tommy he shouldn't have expected any more from him.
When we care about someone and they hurt us or leave us, we often question if anything that happened between us mattered, whether it be a relationship, a friendship, or found family, like Wilbur and Tommy's characters. "What we had was real, but it was temporary." This song is from the point of view of the perpetrator, the person who left, who caused the pain. "You're searching for closure, but I've always been such a coward." I hope you enjoy the song. It's crazy to think that I've been making Dream SMP songs for almost 2 years now! Thank you for supporting me and listening to my work.

I like how “you should have known” is Wilbur kind of refusing to acknowledge that he’s not an inherently bad person because Tommy did see the good in him that he himself couldn’t see
I'm still amazed at how emotional this finale managed to be, while Wilbur's leaving to freaking Utah lmao-
But really, Wilbur's self hatred coming out in song form is aweing. After so much fan content depicting him as a dangerous, power hungry genius, seeing him _finally_ get real with Tommy strikes hard.

The way the lyrics say "You should've known" both is Wilbur hating himself but also blaming Tommy somewhat, but he cares so much about Tommy, that he was too scared that Tommy would never forgive him.

When wilbur left,... i was sad. Not just for tommy's reaction but also because it was clear to wilbur that he was sad too. Wilbur's character was AweSome
Oh my god I've been listening to this song on repeat and I just realized theres an amazing parallel here with Ghostbur, and specifically Kat's song 'Why.' Obviously Ghostbur is quite different than Will, and the contrast of these two songs is so good. Ghostbur asks Phil why he couldn't be better, do what wouldn't hurt anyone, why he and techno lied. Wilbur in this song, is the contrast to that. He asks Tommy why Tommy expected him to be better. Why did you expect me to be trustworthy? You always knew I was a coward, so why did you put your faith in me?
Ghostbur is a perfectionist. The one that wants the world to be perfect, and truly believes that it was, that it could be. He's the part of Wilbur that didn't want to press the button. The part that wanted to finish the symphony. But the Wilbur we see in his finale, he's the inverse. He's the parts that died on November 16th. The part that would blow up his work because it was easier than going on. But he had went mad, and he lost the part that still loved L'manberg.
Maybe that's why Tommy and Mexican Dream never developed ghosts. Maybe Wilbur did because he had unfinished work. Ghostbur was the part that didn't ask Phil to kill him. The part that didn't press the button. The part that wanted to accept the presidential seat, and bring about a new age of prosperity for L'Manberg.

Was a bit late, but since I've found your channel, your song stays in my mind and heart 24/7. You start doing the Dream SMP song with Tommy was afraid of Wilbur manipulation. Now, you end (?) it with Wilbur afraid of Tommy never forgiving him. Both were afraid, different reasons. This was tragically beautiful.

Just read the description and omg this hits hard after reading. Quarantine robbed a lot of years I had with friends before graduating. And a lot of those friends started to drift away in quarantine, and be colder to me, and it really hurts... but I also had those moments of doubt where I wondered if they had ever loved me in the first place. What we had was real, but it was temporary... as bleak as that is, it makes me feel better

I want to believe that Wilbur will come back. Maybe Captain Puffy will bring him back on a ship. it would be a great deus ex machina if done right. Imagine at some point, puffy decides to repair her old ship or get a new one, leaves to follow her map, and on her way back she gets transported to America like Wilbur. He hear’s about her, finds her, and they return to the smp finding an active war.
But in the end, maybe I should just accept that he might be officially, not coming back.
