Blizzard slowly went down the slope first, and for a long time it was still good. But after Morhaime left, it just dropped into the abyss.
This is how it is, however, all we can do is move on.
There are some that cling, like Stockholm Syndrome shook them to their core. They will continue to enable Actiblizz and Bethesda until the ship breaks and the company is bought out or merged into Microsoft. Those same "fans" are destroying their own favorite IPs by blindly defending it.
I never got the opportunity to get into Blizzard games, and the one option that I could stomach was Diablo 2.
StarCraft didn't get Ghost so fuck that for me.
Warcraft, specifically the MMO world of the same name, was responsible directly and indirectly for the destruction of well over 12 studios in it's first couple years alone. Fuck that hard.
Overwatch I could feel becoming toxic in just 5 games during launch week. Thank God I played it for free.
And then Diablo, which stopped being good after 2 and lives in limbo for 4. At this point though, I can't even bring myself to play 2. I don't think Blizzard even deserves my time, and soon enough, my thoughts.
Chris Metzen looks so tired. It's like all the crap Thrall went through in WoW, Chris also had to go through working at Blizzard. Contrast him to the team at Frost Giant, where everybody looks full of life. Props to them for getting out. I hope Chris gets out too.

I unsubbed during BfA, came back pre-Shadowlands to do the prepatch and then quit for good before the first major patch for SL. From the coverage, Dragonflight was mid so no reason to return yet. I hope this three part saga thing goes well for the fans still holding on to hope. It has been 7 years since the last "good" expansion released from WoW. Warbands and account-wide stuff sounds great. It would be nice if they turned their ship around.
Even if they 'turn the ship around' don't immediately go running back. That's what they would want. Any company can throw 'red meat' to 'bait' you back in. They know what you really want, but they don't want to give it to you because it might offend someone, or 'cost too much'
If you want an example, take the MCU.
After endgame (where they had mostly given everyone good content up till and including) they decided to walk the path of wokeness, and became the M-SHE-U. Their movies started flopping because they were trying to shove agenda into entertainment so hard that Mr. Magoo could see it.
When their bank accounts began to dry up, they tossed out Spiderman: No Way Home.
Everyone cheered "They're finally back to giving us what we want, lets give em another chance!"
Then they used the money they made from S:NWH to churn out more woke content.
Several companies are already trying to bait customers back (like disney did with wish pandering to conservatives) but in the end, its money-bait, and nothing more. To give people that spark of 'hope' that they've seen the 'error of their ways' so you give them just a few more chances. Like a person stringing another along about a 'relationship.'
Make them earn it. Don't run back just because they gave you a massage once.
