Blizz died a fair bit after the Activision deal. IIRC Activision went through in 2007 and Blizzard didn't really start to decline hard until after WotLK.

I remember when Blizzard was bought by Activision, my friends and I looked up Activision and we thought they would probably destroy Blizzard, they seemed like one of those companies good at snatching defeat from the jaws of success, unfortunately we were right. I think a lot of people were afraid of that, happens so often, company with an awesome team and amazing products get bought by a larger company which then proceeds to destroy everything that made the company good to start with. RIP Blizzard, for a while you were one of the best in the game. Those days are sadly over, it really sucks as I liked their games so much but I refuse to contribute to gaming companies that are doing these shitty cash grabs on their customers, if your game is rife with microtransactions then I want nothing to do with it. Diablo 3 was the last blizzard game I bought, and the last one I will buy at this point. If that means I cant play "AAA" games then so be it, I don't consider any game using microtransactions and crappy addons as a AAA title anyway. Blizzard is dead.
