Towards the end of game 2 you kept trying to break out the 6 ball when it had four available pockets. I was curious why you would chance moving the furniture instead of accepting short side position.
Thats a good question honestly! I know I tend to wanna move balls, rather than shape tough positions (which is often not the best choice). I may’ve been hoping to move it in a way that could change the 8. Idk if you can tell, I absolutely despise balls stuck to the rail near the side like that. Was really much more concerned about that 8 than needed to be, I think… thank you for the thought, you’re 100% right in hindsight. Always learning, maybe next time 👀
Nice table run in game 3. I like your choice of drawing the cue ball for position on the 8. There was too much traffic to try and spin around. By drawing the ball, even if you hit a stripe you'd be moving it away from the 8 instead of blocking it. Good choice.
Thanks! Yeah, only needed to draw about a foot to see a decent shot on the 8, anything better was a bonus. I meant it when I said I shot that very same shot with draw to the short rail about a dozen times before league started. Nice to be more consistent with it, it’s been trouble for me in the past!
Im glad you appreciate! That white tangent line i draw is something that takes time and experience to see. At first, you may only be able to have a general idea of where it is… but over time, and getting used to how YOU shoot, you will be able to see the line further and further out. It’s hard to make decisions (ESPECIALLY in 8-ball or one-pocket) if you can’t truly identify where whitey is going. Which is why I spend so much time making these videos to try and show those still learning how some people are able to see the game! Thanks again, hope you enjoy the content!
@@drewvonporte is that something you do in real time while you are commentating? ive always wondered why pool commentators dont have a telestrator to visualize the angles they are talking about
@@coderman1 No, though it makes it a nice, smooth viewing experience when it seems like I’m doing that live. If I could do it that quick…. 4:48, I like a soft stun there, for the breakout. Not nitpicking because you shoot as well as I do...matter of preference and execution. Enjoy the channel!
At 15:25, the 6 ball would go in the left bottom pocket, or the top side. There was no need to try and move it, and scratch. Walk around the table and I'm sure you would have seen that the 6 would go.
Good commentary, like the over lays showing what you want to do. As a beginner (APA3) I Would of appreciated you discussing English and spin to use that made the ball do what it did, and if you used to much or to little than what you wanted.
Hey thanks I appreciate the feedback, and happy to hear you enjoy the content 🤙🏼 That is good to know. I will say, that I’m in my era where I do not use a lot of english (left/right). When it is important as to why english was necessary, I try to mention it. For example: trying to move the 8 from the 2 ball in my last shot in rack 2 (fail), and when I was runnin in rack 3 and wanted a better position from the 1 to the 2 ball. I remember being enthralled with english as I was beginning to learn the game, but you can do so much without it. I have a short video in the making explaining what (I believe) you need to know and be able to do before you invest in English. Won’t change the world, but just add perspective. Cheers!
I'm not an APA player but I gotta ask this because I've noticed it in a few of the videos. Does APA racking not require the 2 corner balls to be of a different set?
APA says 8-ball in the middle is all that matters. A lot of their rules, I feel, are simpler because it’s *amateur* pool. Like a closed break, slop counts, physically marking the pocket for the 8-ball. Keeps disagreements at bay. Makes sense to me from a massive league perspective 🤷🏻♂️
@@drewvonporte The "take what you make" rule I was familiar with and while I understand it's intended purpose to be so that a better player has to go with what they pocketed and not start shooting the better set and run out on a lower skilled player, the more common result I see is that lower skilled players often just end up with not having a shot available. Or it's at least a very low percentage one for their abilities.
If im stripes at 15:40 id try banking the stripe closest to the 8 then try the 3 ball combo and hope the orange stripe heads to top right corner and hope crimson hovers over the bottom to and try for the 8 in the bottom left corner....prob a long shot but worth a try.
I think with BIH, I take the 3-ball combo and try and draw directly back into the 15 in the rail. Personally do not like banking it 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ even with BIH lol. But your runout would work!
Was good match so my tip would be understand 15 degrees from diamond to diamond and should improve your banks that and medium speed or less for banks so the spin can take place that's all
20:38 Maybe shape the cue ball onto the rail with the 8 ball and next shot hit the 8 ball into the 13 which looks like it would deflect into the side pocket...?
I took a look at that at 20:28, I dont think i liked it, the 13 wasnt in the *best* position for the kiss into the side. I’m a big fan of crashing into anything I can. Like a bull in a china shop some nights, I swear 😅😅
At 27:00 shoulda played shape on the 13 to play natural pattern to break out cluster. I find it better to play shape for a breakout ball than to play unnatural shape off a bad angle ball. Playing a stop shot on the ball in the side would have given a favorable breakout cutting the 10 in the side next and that is simple to do. You have the 13 for insurance after the breakout. Keep it simple you will be more accurate keeping it simple.
Wow you are 100% right. Both options better than that whack crap I did. I have to say, this was months ago and I feel like my pattern play has gotten a lot better recently… so watching me take that wild draw to try and crash was painful 😔
