The small 90 degree rest clip-on thing isn't for use as an alternative to the spider, although I suppose you could use it that way. Its main function is for the times the cue ball is close to the cushion on your opposite hand, so that you don't need to twist the conventional rest in order to get to the centre spot of the cue ball. As a right hander Steven, try it down the right hand side of the table.

As a keen amateur since the late ‘70s, maybe Steve Hendry has never seen, or has forgotten where this accessory is very useful. I refer to the plastic rest fork slide on extension (that Steve Davis used), and I’ve used since I got one soon after seeing it, main use isn’t as an alternative spider. It’s use is for better cueing when the cue ball and object ball are tight or very close to a cushion and it’s on your wrong cueing arm. The lower fork below the extended fork can fit under the cushion rail and the fork of the extension allows you to cue along the line of the shot. Not often used, but now and again very handy. I keep mine over my cue tip to protect it in its case, which is another use. 5 out of 5 in my opinion 🙂

Hey Stephen - if you want to test my completely newly developed cue rest head, just let me know. I guarantee you'll never use one of the standard rests again. One of your guests in the Tough Table Challenge has already tried it and loved it. And of course it fits in every cue case. With this rest head, even impossible shots are possible now. This has to be the new standard.
I'm in Finland and play pool with a glove. Some people have sweatier hands than others. Just one long 9 ball and the palms are sweaty 😅 It's a real issue in snooker since I also don't like the glove with such a light and slick cue.
I use one personally, but I know a lot of people don't like them. I get quite clammy so I was always wiping my cue and even putting chalk on my hand to keep them dry, now with a glove I can just play and never worry. You can pick cheap ones up for a few quid and try them out before you buy something better quality, definitely worth a go
@@Cheeseberry69 Absolutely, I use one myself for pool. I know what Stephen is saying about the feeling or delivery of the cue, for professional standard in snooker it wouldn't give you the same natural feel, but this is something you could adapt to I believe.
@@TheSmokeofAnubis In the 90ies John Parrott did a test with the cue ball completely covered with chalk. He played with it and never got any kicks. This was the old chalk.
I’m really happy to see that Stephen switched his sponsor from a gambling company to BetterHelp. A while back, I actually commented on one of his videos, pointing out how harmful gambling can be and criticizing his choice to promote it, since it ruins so many lives. I’m not sure if my comment had any influence on his decision, but regardless, I’m so glad he made the change. I watch all his videos, and it feels great to know he’s making such a positive impact on people’s lives and now even more so with his channel’s new direction on sponsor. Big W for the 7-timer!
While I agree with not promoting gambling, as far as I've heard BetterHelp is kind of scammy and really bad... Following other UA-camrs with even over 2M subscribers (see Blatcktail Studio), and as soon as they did a BetterHelp sponsorship, everybody commented that BetterHelp is crap
BetterHelp is just as bad. Doing a little quick search shows you that. Its clear his media department are just accepting any sponsor and not doing any checks on them. BetterHelp are awful. Also concerning a comment about this earlier appears to have gone.

I think that telescopic rest will be more useful for pool players in pubs and bars, where it's more likely that the rest will be absent. My worst snooker invention ever, Taom chalk, there is no satisfaction when chalking your cue. I lasted a week with it and went back to the old stuff. I just didn't feel like I was chalking my cue with it.
Oh yeah, when i used to go down to the club to play Pool with Brother, every so often, i'd need a Rest so i'd have to pinch one from the Snooker table but luckily it was usually quiet so wasn't a problem.
I have a leather magnetic chalk holder from Temu of all places and it is fantastic. It even came with both round chalk holder and square chalk holder and all of it is made of tooled genuine leather. Also, the magnets are very strong and hold the chalk extremely well. I think I paid around $15-$20 for the three piece set.
Stephen people are influenced by you..sending them to random app for their mental health is not good..your getting into territory outside your expertise with vulnerable people
It has nothing to do with Hendry. Gary Smith @ Avidity Talent booked them, Hendry just reads the script. But correct that Betterhelp are a truly awful company, terrible and well-known reputation.
Hi Stephen my challenge to you is to cover one of your eyes when playing so you can get an idea what it's like to play the game when you're visually impaired like me. Also it could be good for disabled snooker to have someone from the WDBS on your show.
I personally think snooker poetry has some legs as a genre: There once was a man called Mark King, For whom winning was a most tricky thing, His form in such tatters, Suspicious betting patterns, Until he got caught in a sting.
I'm not sure that you're 100% correct in your description of how you use that little gadget that fits onto a rest. I've got one and yes, it can be used in certain situations as a spider when you're hampered by other balls. But its main use is when you need to use the rest alongside the cushion and it allows you to position the cue literally above the cushion itself. Or it allows you to slide one of the bottom prongs of the rest slightly under the cushion and it still gives you the height of a spider. You can't do this with a traditional spider as the prongs are vertical and you'd be trying to position the spider with one prong on the cushion and one prong on the table. It's true that such shots are a fairly rare occurrence; since I bought mine, I've only used it once in about my last 5 matches. But for the sake of a fiver, it's definitely worth carrying one around in your case because it will, on occasion, allow you do make a shot that would otherwise be extremely difficult or nearly impossible.
Could you provide more information? I've used better help and while it's not as good as in person therapy, I still found it beneficial. It's pretty affordable too, high quality therapy can be really expensive. Seems fairly positive to me, why is it a scam and so negative as you say? Genuinely curious not trying to defend it.
Better help can be very hit or miss, mostly miss in my experience. My mate needed some help. The therapist told him to use his left hand more to help with his anxiety because "the left side of your brain is less stressed" 😂😂
I know they are used by abusers. I agree with the OP. To be clear, Stephen is not an abuser, of me or anyone. Nor will be know the serious point made in my first sentence. I wish he, and others knew. But the evil here is the public ltd scam artists whose name I cannot bear to even write out. Not Stephen. He is none of those things, I'd say he is careless to not do due diligence, but they're manipulators. I hope he does not take their money if he looks further into it. But I can understand how someone, in good faith, and offered a lot of money which is also taken in good faith, is manipulated by this public Ltd scam. Stephen hasn't scammed anyone, and I hope he ends association with them.

7:25 I have used a Riley magnetic chalk holder and clip for over 30 years from playing in a league to playing with my mates. I keep it in my cue case and use it every time I play. It clips nicely on to the back pocket of my jeans. I have never used Taom chalk, always triangle for me. Love the portable rest as table 2 at my club has a rest with uneven ends that won't screw in further and it's annoying when you get that rest out and have to twiz it round to the end that's even, this breaking your concentration on the shot. Might have to get one of those cheers for the helpful video Stephen.
But you didn't come up with the idea and prototype it did you? You can say things like that about many things in life if you don't think about what you are saying.

I stopped watching after the Mark Williams gadget. To not know what something is and not even use it properly, and then to give it four out of five is a scam. What's the use of watching your analysis, if it's not going to give an honest analysis? It's just you talking, and on top of that you're talking shit. Thumbs down.

I can't imagine Stephen ever appearing on "DIY SOS'... Linear programmed as a snooker player!! Good stuff though!
loved the hendry poetry recital :D
Yes, Stephen needs to do more of this. Perhaps, make it a regular on his show.
Stephen Hendry was a potter so able
His potting was the stuff of fable
Hendry wouldn’t sulk
When glued to baulk
He’d just long pot and clear the table
Stephen Hendry
One of a kind
He’s known for coming from behind
He’s up with Ronnie as a great
If it wasn’t for Ebdon - he would’ve had 8!
His UA-cam channel it’s lots of fun
And no, he doesn’t like it up the bum!
I’m in Scotland, use a billiards glove to play pool. Just cause it’s a cold country doesn’t mean the clubs aren’t roasting 😅
I'm in Finland and play pool with a glove. Some people have sweatier hands than others. Just one long 9 ball and the palms are sweaty 😅 It's a real issue in snooker since I also don't like the glove with such a light and slick cue.

Wouldn't wearing the glove stop the need for cue wiping? As the cue isn't in direct contact with skin. Thanks for the video Stephen!
Well done Stephen, great channel
The glove is 5/5
Looking healthy Steven, great to see :)
I remember Steve Davis and a scientist, scientifically proving that chalk was the issue with kicks in the 80s
@@TheSmokeofAnubis In the 90ies John Parrott did a test with the cue ball completely covered with chalk. He played with it and never got any kicks. This was the old chalk.

The thumbnail game is getting strong Stephen. A proper UA-camr now.
Great video as always!
Great video Stephen. Love the idea.
Hendry is too nice you can tell he is holding off the true rating. 3/5 for snooker poems? Like who would want that

Loved that comment. Stephen is awesome

@@IvMrNayfeenvI
Fair play, sick of promotion of that crap.
@@TheStevenWhiting yes, my comment was deleted indeed. I wasn’t sure why I couldn’t see it anymore, I thought maybe I added it in a different thread… but no, since I was notified just now about your comment to this thread. So my comment was deleted 🤦🏻♂️😂

We have one of those mini tables in our office, and it is a great thing when you're bored
That pool table is terrible - the balls have to be a bit smaller or the table slightly bigger!
5:58 The magnetic chalk holder has been around for ages, I have seen them about 20 years ago.
17:04 Same with the glove.
Yeah... that's what he said.
About gadget from 12:00 I believe Stuart Bingham tried to used it once in a frame, but had some problems with it ;)
I think he did fine with it. If I remember right it was against either Kyren or Luca who then had to borrow it shortly after.
The old Scottish toothbrush 🤣🤣🤣🤣 id hate to see stephens teeth if he needs that amazon brush lol great episode again!
Nice to see Hendry struggling to make the 1 foot long pots 👍
I think that telescopic rest will be more useful for pool players in pubs and bars, where it's more likely that the rest will be absent.
My worst snooker invention ever, Taom chalk, there is no satisfaction when chalking your cue. I lasted a week with it and went back to the old stuff. I just didn't feel like I was chalking my cue with it.
Oh yeah, when i used to go down to the club to play Pool with Brother, every so often, i'd need a Rest so i'd have to pinch one from the Snooker table but luckily it was usually quiet so wasn't a problem.
Oh god , not better help
I have a leather magnetic chalk holder from Temu of all places and it is fantastic. It even came with both round chalk holder and square chalk holder and all of it is made of tooled genuine leather. Also, the magnets are very strong and hold the chalk extremely well. I think I paid around $15-$20 for the three piece set.
Stephen people are influenced by you..sending them to random app for their mental health is not good..your getting into territory outside your expertise with vulnerable people
😔
It has nothing to do with Hendry. Gary Smith @ Avidity Talent booked them, Hendry just reads the script. But correct that Betterhelp are a truly awful company, terrible and well-known reputation.
Hi Stephen my challenge to you is to cover one of your eyes when playing so you can get an idea what it's like to play the game when you're visually impaired like me. Also it could be good for disabled snooker to have someone from the WDBS on your show.
Lisowski time yet?
I think Stephen is totally obsessed with snooker! I bet he sleeps on a snooker table and eats off one too!
I personally think snooker poetry has some legs as a genre:
There once was a man called Mark King,
For whom winning was a most tricky thing,
His form in such tatters,
Suspicious betting patterns,
Until he got caught in a sting.
After he read that poem I would have died if he went “I’m giving this a 5!” 😅
Would love to see you play a frame vs someone on the first table you ever played on as a kid. Pot black table?
I loved this episode. Awesome!!! Thanks Stephen!
Stop holding out Hendo. We all know you have more Break From Life content backed up brother! 🤣
I think the idea with the cuing gadget is that if your follow through isn't straight, your cue will contact the sides of the 'U'.
Oh god Better help has infected this channel now. :(
I suggest you call up Better Help to help you get over this.
I used to use plumbers wire wool to rub the cue, then a towel. Cue was super smooth
Take the cash but drop the sponser before it damages the channel
"I am not technically adept enough at the workings of the snooker cue action"... Comes from Stephen Hendry himself.... So yeah! Too humble
Actually i find the Mark Williams gadget the most usefull. You can really see if you hit the middle of the white ball.

Correct. See the free videos to understand it’s proper use.
First time I have ever come across someone with the same goose bumps to sand paper affliction as myself! Even flour on bread rolls makes me wince 😂
YIKES! Disappointed to see you taking a better help sponsorship. They are a massive scam, and do more harm than good for people's mental health.
@@lorenzotassellari7015 wow, that's shockingly dumb.
Ronnie has won 23 Triple Crowns using Triangle chalk. Why would he want to switch to taom I'm actually curious?
I think he explained that. Because it leaves no chalk on table which eliminates kicks
Great video completely something different thank you 👍🏴🇬🇧🎱
30 for 50ct of printed plastic? I can design and print this in 1 hour myself right now
Right, but you paid upfront for a 3D printer. Most people can live their entire lives without one.
But you didn't come up with the idea and prototype it did you? You can say things like that about many things in life if you don't think about what you are saying.
Mark Allen also used the rest extension gadget that you wrongly stated only Steve Davis used. And he used it quite a bit aswell. Till it started falling off 😂
For a tip shapen up, the wife’s nail file is good. 1 side rough, 1 side smooth.
