Very unusual in those days (early to mid 60s) for a band to play live on TV instead of using dubbing. TV stations never wanted to take the risk, and the band's management wanted them to sound exactly like the single so they could promote it (the drummer took some creative liberties here), which was the main purpose of these TV appearances. So this is refreshing! Thank you, Wolffishfish, for uploading this find!
When this show was made, the Yardbirds were still managed by Giorgio Gomelsky, who owned the blues club where they had quickly achieved stardom. Gomelsky knew and appreciated the electricity of their live performances. And he was a blues freak.

On this day in 1965 {April 16th} the Yardbirds performed "For Your Love" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'.... At the time the song was in it's second of two weeks at #3 on the United Kingdom's Top 50 Singles chart, that was also it's peak position on the chart and it spent twelve weeks on the Top 50... It reached #6 on Billboard's Top 100 chart... Between 1964 and 1967 the London-based quintet had seven records on the UK Singles chart, five made the Top 10 with their biggest hit being "Heart Full of Soul", it peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} in 1965, the first week it was at #2, the #1 record was "I'm Alive" by the Hollies, and for the second and third week the Byrds' "Mr. Tambourine Man" was in the top spot... Besides the above two, the group's three other Top 10 records were "Evil Hearted You" {#3 for 1 week in 1965}, "Shapes of Things" {#3 for 2 weeks in 1966}, and "Over Under Sideways Down" {#10 for 2 weeks in 1966}... Lead vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf passed away at the young age of 33 on May 14th, 1976 {accidental electrocution}... May he R.I.P.
I love this one and heart full of soul because of the way Jeff Beck incorporated his Spanish guitar styles. Really made the Yardbirds stand out to me compared to other bands at the time - and even today.

Jeff Beck. - For Your ❤ Love This was a personal favourite of mine back in the 1960’s. Also, another favourite of mine was : Hi, Ho, Silver Lining. It was a tradition at Clubs to play this song to ‘Warm the Audience Up’ and boy did it !!! (I know all the words …. ) After listening to all my favourites from Jeff and the boys, it’s with a sad heart ❤and a tear 😢in my eye that I pay a massive tribute to his talent at playing his guitar 🎸 with mastery. It was a pleasure listening to your music/songs. We’ll never forget a genius such as you. ….. Aggh
Most bands are lucky if they have one great musician in the group. The Yardbirds had Clapton, Beck, and Page, as well as all of Led Zeppelin in '68 for a short while. So much greatness, unfortunately the band was treated as a stepping stone to greater things.
wow this is the first actual live version of For Your Love I've seen as opposed to the lipsyncs for TV that were so common at the time. fantastic instrumentation and snappy performance.
Eric Clapton 1965: I’m leaving the Yardbirds because they are too poppy now Eric Clapton 1977: 🎶 And then she asked me, do I look alright, I said my darling, you look wonderful tonight 🎶
Jorge i agree with you its lovely when a 60s song catches the memories of days gone by ,, I hope your past life was happy ? mine was with out a doubt lol x
A few years ago, I picked up a CD because it was dirt cheap. It was the Yardbirds Greatest. It was about 10 or 11 songs. I liked every song. Keith Relf singing lead, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Paige, and Eric Clapton on guitar, say no more, say no more!
That lead singer got a fantastic voice.Love the black and white and these old songs.Imagine at one time or another Eric Clapton ,Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck all played for this band.So much that happend in life you want to say What If !!! thanks for the great video and thanks youtube.
I confess that I only know of the existence of this bewitching oldies classic For Your Love by the Yardbirds because of remembering hearing this multiple/several years ago by the time I was a teenager (my late adoptive father enjoyed hearing similar music genres on the radio similar to this song), I'm so glad that this phenomenal live version classic is also available to listen to online.

Sad, RIP Jeff, back when music was great
On this day in 1965 {April 16th} the Yardbirds performed "For Your Love" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'....
Jeff Beck playing straight up chords on a Guild with a sound hole pickup...fantastic!
I love this one and heart full of soul because of the way Jeff Beck incorporated his Spanish guitar styles. Really made the Yardbirds stand out to me compared to other bands at the time - and even today.
Love the sound of the women being tortured in the background... nice touch.
This was before the woman's movement. ;0)
Both of you guys are just cracking me up right now. I have to say that I would love to be standing next to a chickie in the grip of total Beatlemania right now, and not laugh my ass off in her screeching face.
Never made sense to me when you got to see a band because you like their music, and then you scream the entire time.....
them screamists were probably paid shills.
😂😂😂
I was born in 1977, always remember my parent's playing this song and others..
My era. Great days with the Brits dominating. So many top groups playing LIVE!! Timeless.
Rest in peace, Jeff Beck. Saw Jeff’s Yardbirds performed live in Singapore in 1965.
This is the best formation of the history of yardbirds, too many talent in 5 guys
I was 13 when this came out. Music on the radio was so awesome and groovy. Yeah I used that word. Itt was cool back then. As the yardbirds were cool and rock was exciting and cool.
I was 17 when this song hit tie air waves. I listened all the time to the Yardbirds. What a great band they were. I still love their music over 55 years ago.
Jeff Beck's dearth brought me here...songs of mry teenage years .Rest well Jeff thanks for the memories 😭😭
I love them so much, they had such a rough edge sound, no studio sound, they even made the Stones sound over-produced. And Beck is the god of guitar.
Lovely track and still very meaningful today.
This type of music is classic and will never be forgotten, great line up and RIP Keith, your music lives on....
What a band full of handsome-talented men. Love Keith Relf’s singing voice!! 😅
Rest In Peace, I’ve watched and listened to your music since the sixties. Thank you
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
The screaming girls - you'd think The Beatles were up there lol. The Yardbirds were awesome. Keith had such a great voice.
We'll scream if we want to!
I think those screams were edited in. I remember watching this on Shindig in 1965 and don't remember incessant screaming in the background at the time. Of course, my memory could be wrong. They also could have been edited in back then by American television.
I'm ten years old again.
This is a representation of a rock revolution, a totally psychedelic 1965.
I was 12 smilexo
Daniel i was a lovely 20 year old girl when this classic came out ,,,im now a 76 year old lovely woman , i adore this band what utter talent ,, pure genius guys , then now and always lolxxx
Psychedelic rythm & blues of the finist quality long live the yardbird's phenomenal music 🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧⭐⭐⭐💎💎💎🎺🎷🎵🎶🪕🎻🎸🎼🎹🎼
RIP Jeff Beck you're a true legend 💙
Mr. Beck, we are from two different worlds but your talent intertwined are worlds. This is an incredible loss! Take flight with ease 🕊🕊🕊 My condolences to your family and friends.
WOW, Jeff Beck on guitar❗️
2 years later..seeing this again. how f'n badass do you have to be to sing "and" play bongos...while wearing sunglasses?
Jeff Beck. - For Your ❤ Love
This was a personal favourite of mine back in the 1960’s.
Also, another favourite of mine was : Hi, Ho, Silver Lining. It was a tradition at Clubs to play this song to ‘Warm the Audience Up’ and boy did it !!! (I know all the words …. )
After listening to all my favourites from Jeff and the boys, it’s with a sad heart ❤and a tear 😢in my eye that I pay a massive tribute to his talent at playing his guitar 🎸 with mastery.
It was a pleasure listening to your music/songs.
We’ll never forget a genius such as you. ….. Aggh
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Most bands are lucky if they have one great musician in the group. The Yardbirds had Clapton, Beck, and Page, as well as all of Led Zeppelin in '68 for a short while. So much greatness, unfortunately the band was treated as a stepping stone to greater things.
This band was the KING of development for SO MANY performers..
Were it not for the Yardbirds, there would have been no Led Zeppelin.
The 60s era was wonderful for giving us such a huge choice of diverse music ,,,,I still adore the 60s WOW and WOW AGAIN LOLX
RIP Jeff🎸🙏 🎼 Great music in the 60,s !
Descansa en paz Jeff, hasta el cielo🙏🕊
wow this is the first actual live version of For Your Love I've seen as opposed to the lipsyncs for TV that were so common at the time. fantastic instrumentation and snappy performance.
This is one of the songs I played in the first real band I was in . It was the late 60s. At that time I was playing bass guitar.
Eric Clapton 1965: I’m leaving the Yardbirds because they are too poppy now
Eric Clapton 1977: 🎶 And then she asked me, do I look alright, I said my darling, you look wonderful tonight 🎶
lol
How the tables have turned
haha
And, by golly, she did look alright.
@@bryanwood8050 His comment was that Clapton complained about the Yardbirds being "too poppy", then he writes that drivel of a song.
This is just the best.as i recall my elder brother playing this over and over.he even had his hair dyed and cut like kieth.he looked pretty cool too.
This catchy song is still very good to hear. One of my favorites of those times, it makes me recall the life I lived then.
Jorge i agree with you its lovely when a 60s song catches the memories of days gone by ,, I hope your past life was happy ? mine was with out a doubt lol x
@@oughtonoughton2634 it sure was Oughton, and that is why I remember those days, whenever I hear this song. Regards and have a nice night.
I remember when this song came out in the beautiful 60's !
The Yardbirds got all the girls screaming in the 1965 Concert l love it all 🎵💙💙❤️ Great Tunes ❤️❤️. For Your Love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Seeing the late J.B. playing an 'electrified' 12 string and singing is mind blowin'
An dieses Lied erinnere ich mich sehr gut❣️😉 Ich war 14 Jahre alt 😀
RIP Jeff Beck you will forever be in our hearts
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Timeless song!.. RIP Jeff Beck🎵🙏
That lead singer got a fantastic voice.Love the black and white and these old songs.Imagine at one time or another Eric Clapton ,Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck all played for this band.So much that happend in life you want to say What If !!! thanks for the great video and thanks youtube.
Clapton.
Jeff Beck, best guitarist ever. R.i.p.
My fiancee was born in 1994, the first time she heard it after I messaged it to her on FB she loved it. Good music does cross the generations.
The mother of all groups, all extremely talented.
george these guys were all pure genius musicians ,,,without a doubt the worlds very best ,,,, lol x
