380 does more because of the bullet weight but the 22LR is no slouch. Does more damage than people think. Great comparison test. Thanks for posting.
You're welcome.
I used to carry a Ruger LCP II .380. I now carry a Ruger LCP II .22 caliber. I have limited opportunities for range practice. I am much better at shot placement with the .22 caliber pistol. Handling and recoil management is much easier with the .22 (older arthritic hands). I use 40 grain CCI Velocitors. Using the LCP II means it is ALWAYS in my pocket, even when just working in the yard or watching TV.
I carry the LCP II in .380 with hollow points. I've had too many dud rimfires.
Why is it that I never see anyone volunteering to be shot by a 22 🤔
Because they are not as stupid in real life as they are on the internet.
There was that guy who volunteered to be shot by a .50 AE and yes he is dead. I’m not volunteering to get shot by anything BB guns included lol
Sorry to say look at James Brady. 22lr.
Some people think soft body armor makes you impervious to injury. I submit you might die anyway being hit with a 12ga slug.
I have been shot with a 22LR. It was unhandy.
Man, I gotta say WTW, one of the reasons we love you is because you're willing to throw that footage in at the end. Instead of making someone go find your other video for the view, you give people the information they want/need. You're the man. God Bless,!
Current EDC is Taurus G3C. When I'm out in the woods or messing around in the yard....mowing etc I carry a Taurus TX 22.
Depending on the day, I will carry one of my 3 Ruger handguns.
I have an LCP II in both .22 and 380 and also an EC9S in 9mm.
Love my Ruger handguns.
Now with the Max-9 coming out this may be a moot point, but that EC9s was a 9/10 for me. If they could JUST make the grip a wee-bit thicker, or more shapely with palm swells....
It was easy to carry but just a tad snappy with that thin grip.
@@AOMartialArts A Hogue grip sleeve on the EC9s does what you ask.
I'm only missing the .380
@@AOMartialArts I did upgrade to the Max-9 and also the LCP Max.
Agreed, my sweatpants dont like carrying my full sized pistols with my belly complaining about how tight I have to tie them.
When the clay isn’t vaporized, you should use a big knife to cut them in half so we can see what happened internally.
Bread knives time to shine!
Its a hole in clay
@@EricTheActor805 No kidding, if it can’t make a hole then it’s probably a BB gun. What happens on the inside matters too, not just the entrance and exit.
Instead of a knife use some fishing string or dental floss would work better then a knife.
@@EricTheActor805 Shows temporary wound cavity.
In the 70s street racing it was called "run what ya brung". Anything is better than nothing.
@@John_Redcorn_ True enough. I carry .380 because my body barely functions any longer and it's no longer my choice. I used to carry a 1911 years back. I can barely pick one up now.
Please do a series with clay blocks with body armor on to show the amount of energy transferred into them. Think it would be interesting to see.
A .22 will leave a decent bruise, I do know that.
@@9ZERO6 Should we ask how you know?
@@bigbill2444 thankfully after wearing a vest for thousands of hours on duty I can tell you I do not know personally. But from my research on the subject it appears that they will indeed leave a mark.
But I certainly was aware of the .22 as being deadly. I carried a much more formidable firearm, but never underestidenated an adversary with a concealed pocket gun ability to end my shift in a bad way.
Train with what you can afford. That will be your defense against an attack. Regardless of calibre. There is no best caliber if is does not even hit the target.
Yessss
I’d like to see 4 blocks lined up in a row shoot through one and go through the others
Missed the live feed, got to like these two. Most people got one or the other. Gods speed to Who Tee Who & Family 👍🇺🇸

I love the faces!! Really would not want to get hit by either
Idk, it depends on the barrel length as to which one of rather take 🤣😂
After he hits them, they look like a belly button, which is the true center of mass - hard to over penetrate.
Either one in the forehead, you'd never know what hit you.

Holy crap, that .380 was crazy! Like it pooped out it’s mouth 🤣🤣
I love that you put the original video at the end. Don’t make us search for it, and not fishing for more views :) you’re a class act WTW 👍
Agreed 💯
Thanks Cranky
Spoken well
I totally agree. All my friends laff at me n the lil 22. They carry 45s n 40 calibers but I'm still loving the 22 hollow points. Thanks for the demostration.
In home defense, 22 lr or 380 is good. What you need in home defense is a round that will incapacitate the threat but will not pass through the target and possibly hit someone else. Also recoil, both of those calibers have a very low recoil which makes it easier to make more accurate shots.
Nothing better than 00buck for home defense 😆
Sparky I agree with a but. Use 1 7/8 shells. Low recoil can fit many more in, and still 1200 fps. Look at challenger or remington
I've seen what that can do, that and .38 special 1st hand, once upon a time in the River Quay.
The recoil is far more severe with the 380. In my PPK/S after 40 or 50 rounds your hand is stinging. In my Bersa .22 you can shoot 2-3 hundred rounds without a tingle.
My nightstand home defense gun is right in between the two, a PMR30 loaded with Hornady CD. 30 rounds of 22 mag works for me. Also have a P17 loaded with Federal Punch too.
Love that you make a video mostly daily. The other guys I follow are every 3-4 days and usually come out the same day. Thank you WTW for the content
Appreciate you watching Jason! And they don't even have real jobs. LOL. I'm just a regular dude. I work a day job
You’re awesome WTW! Thanks for this video (and all the others too) brother! I talked my wife into packing a S&W MP .380 ACP and I carry a 10mm most of the time. Have a great week brother!🤘🏽🍻
Love seeing the clay fly. The exit of the 380 reminded me of the predator's face . I prefer the 380 simply because the ammo seems a touch more reliable.
If it goes bang i like it. Ha! Hey Keith!
They will all do the job if you put the bullet in the right spot. ( If you have it when needed. )
Puts the reference video at the end what a guy!
You had a flashback video with a flashback video in it. Crazy. I was waiting for more flashbacks. Maybe you'd go back to the video of trying to use zip ties as string on a weed whacker.
I like to carry a 9mm but here in FL most of the year it's hot and I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. My little LCP with an armalaser on it in my pocket or an IWB holster is barely noticeable. The one thing many don't mention is the low recoil and ease of many follow up shots of the .22. I would have no problem carrying one with today's ammo and how reliable the ammo and the pistols are. I don't carry one because I don't have a small one but I am looking for a ten shot or better compact that I could bring out with me. I am retired law enforcement and have seen the damage a .22 does. It's not pretty. And I guarantee any one of us can put a full mag of .22 into a very small hole a lot better than we can with larger calibers. Scary noises help but holes in bad guys is really effective and you don't get in as much trouble as missing the bad guy and hitting an innocent. If you have someone who is new or recoil sensitive have them start training/carrying a .22. They can work up to something better but as the saying goes, a .22 is better than a sharp stick. Most criminals aren't going to question which gun you are holding. And a .22 hole still looks really big when it's pointed at your face!!!! That I can promise you as well!!!
.380 all day every day. I might at some point be convinced to go to an LC9 over the LCP2 I currently have but haven't made the switch yet. As Paul Harrell might say: The .380 you have beats the .45 you left at home. I've come to adopt the mantra of program compliance and making it work for you.
I carry a 9 or 45. But, the .22 has my utmost respect.
@@9ZERO6
That's how I am (though 9mm or .38 Special.) I won't disparage anyone who carries a quality .22 firearm for self-defense; I'll just respect them for carrying at all.
Same here. Most of the time ai leave the heavy 40 at home and pocket carry 380. Can carry all day and not even think about it.
Yup.
I have several great 9mm's but I most often reach for my Bersa Thunder. What a great firearm, comfortable, light weight, easy to conceal owb or iwb, accurate, low recoil, all-metal, 8+1.
I never feel out-gunned.
@@AOMartialArts My friend, feeling outgunned and BEING outgunned, are two completely different things. Don't allow yourself to accept FEELINGS/ opinions/ perceptions..... especially if you aren't 100% sure that they align with reality.
I keep hearing people use that phrase "I don't feel outgunned at all". Throw that in the garbage and assess things for what they really are. If someone comes to the right with a 223 AR...and you still "feel like you're not outgunned", then there's a problem lol.
The reality of it all is this. You can absolutely be "outgunned". Accept that fact. But the next fact is that being outgunned isn't the only variable in the equation. The next fact variable in the equation and maybe the most important one, is who can shoot and hit first. Because if you have a 9mm and your opponent has a 233.....and you hit him first, you win. This isn't a boxing or MMA sparring match, in the vast majority of cases we can NOT casually exchange blows and continue on fighting. Usually, he who hits first, wins, game over. From there, this includes many sub-categories of variables. Like who has the drop on the other (who has their gun OUT and pointed at the other, first- He will win). Who can out manuever the other AFTER the gun fight has started.
And then another is if you have a caliber that's damaging enough to either stop the opponent completely, or damaging enough to cause him enough PAIN or disability (unable to move the body or limb), enough to distract them, make them momentarily stop, stun them, etc....because if you don't have that, and you shoot first..and it does none of the above to the opponent, he or she now has the chance to turn the tables on you even though you were first.
With that said, many believe that 9mm is the handgun caliber that is small enough to carry the most rounds while still being string enough to do all of the above things to the oppoennt. While on the other hand, many believe that rounds below 9mm, don't consistently provide that at all. 9mm vs the other higher handgun calibers, it isn't really a matter of being outgunned because it's a game of he who hits first wins. But 9mm vs the calibers BELOW it, then becomes a potentially "outgunned" situation because many believe that those calibers won't consistently hit and fully stop or disable someone.
So there you have it.
Great video.
Now I carry 18 rounds of .40S&W on my Para Ordnance. But i love .45 ACP 😎👍🥇
The main reason for carrying.380 FMJ for SD is that with HP, the bullet MIGHT NOT make it through clothing AND STILL have enough penetration. But with FMJ, it will punch through the clothing AND the tissue and leave the back of the body with very little energy on exit, leaving a small chance of unwanted casualties.
That sw 22 compact is one of the best if not the best 22lr pistols. I love that kne and my tx22
The 22lr is capable of inflicting quite a surprising amount of damage...not to say that the .380 wasn’t also "awesome". Thanks very much for sharing this with us. Great stuff!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The 22lr is a strong round see my video for more proof!!!
I have no problem carrying the 380, but I do prefer the 9mm and 40 if I am carrying a semiautomatic. But in revolver it is 357 mag all the way. Keep up the great videos.
Love the video thanks for talking the time out of your day to make these videos
Cool video, thanks!! I have a Browning 1911-380 that I carry sometimes. With all of the advances in bullet technology there are some seriously wicked 380 rounds out there.
The .380 did a lot more damage, but that's to be expected when we compare the energy difference.
The .380 displaced way more clay.
I really like how you throw in previous clips/videos. ...saves me a bit of trouble in looking them up. Thank you. That's pretty cool of you.
Thanks for watching
Great video, keep them coming. In my state Md, If I could, I would , CC my S&W 380 EZ Preformance model , with hollow points !
The question asked about why someone would carry FMJ instead of hollow points and my response is I carry both in my .380. The reason is the first 5 are hollow points that will go into the chest and if that doesn't stop the threat the next 4 are FMJ and those will go into the ball joint of the pelvic region so it will shatter the bone.
I was actually surprised to see what the hollow points did to the clay blocks.
Surprising! I didn't think the 22lr would cause that much damage. So, a hollow point war might be even better.
That Taurus 380 is a sweet little guy!
Darn auto-correct.
wmr, not war.
gun, not guy.
(forgive an old guy)
I carry either a 3 in model 60, 357 magnum or my 4 1/4 in 1411 45acp
Oh and I carry a Sig Sauer p320 compact in 45acp, loaded with Underwood 120 grain Xtreme Defenders.
You shot his eye out! 🥰
Here's how I settle the best defense round argument , you stand 25 feet downrange and I shoot you 3 times with my choice of caliber then I stand downrange and you shoot me with your favorite caliber. Haven't lost this argument yet, hell no one will even take me up on the offer.
How about comparing the Kel-Tec PMR .22WMR to the .380 in the clay blocks?
That 380 turned that frown upside down😂
Reminds me of the Bitter Beer Face commercials. 🤣🤣🤣
My pistol is a Colt Delta Elite I purchased in 1992 is my right hand draw chest rig that carry with my Springfield 911 9 mm as my back up with a left hand cross draw holster. In my vehicle carry a Mossberg Shockwave with a 4 round extended mag alliterating 00 buck shot and slugs.
That was awesome! With the 380 hollow point you could see it sucking air backwards from the shock displacement!
I don’t go to many places but when I do . There s a 9 mm in the car or truck I think that video showed the 380 made that clay blocks head swell out further ,thanks for all the hard work you do on these videos for the world to learn from:)
I use FMJ for everything .380 or smaller. The majority of smaller caliber guns are very small, with short barrels, which means you can either have penetration, or expansion, but it's really hard to get both. Doesn't really matter how much expansion you get if you don't get deep enough to hit something vital.
i lost my subscriptions for a bit but i am back now and the clay blocks are the best
i dont care what round it is anymore , the ones that make the most freakiest whackiest cartoon faces are my favorites lol
😆😆😆
Seems like everyone forgot about the .32 ACP.. Millions of Berettas floating around out there, easy shooting and reliable ignition. The newer defense rounds pack a lot more oomph than expected..
Man i love the 32... very underrated
Hey buddy what’s up . I Carry a sig 238 with 90 grn Hydro shocks and I tell ya it’s a nasty little round I would by no means want to be on the wrong side of .I also have an SR22 I’ve been guilty of carrying. They would both suck to be on the wrong end of . The nice thing is they are both so easy to shoot and carry . I would say it’s what you got and what you can shoot .
Love my Sig p238 so much that I bought a second one! (Equinox and Blackwood)
Great video Who-Tee…..the 380 or 22 lr will definitely ruin your day, I carry my SR22 and sometimes my LCP 380…love the Ruger guns….

Ever do 9mm vs 45acp?
I liked how you gave several shot angles on your shots. Your reviews are just a few I see here doing this. I subscribed to see more of your gun reviews. Excellent!..
Appreciate you watching!
Entertaining and educational all at the same time, wow, what a channel. Would you try these experiments with some denim on the front and back, or maybe some other type of fabric to show any obstacle to the bullet, only after the naked clay shots of course??
Thx.
👍Liked video. Sometimes i carry two 380ies. One for ea cargo pocket when cops are looking for a bad guy on the lose. To me 380ies are good for being in a populated area. Like anything use the right tool for the job.✌🇺🇸🇺🇸
That exit face on the 380🤣😂🤣😂
This is going to be awesome!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
In 380 it is hard to get jhp or hp to actually open. Choose good ammo in any round and get good at placement!
I have carried 1911s in .45 ACP since my 20s. For a couple of years in my 30s, I switched to a S&W 5906 in 9mm and a Caspian 1911 hybrid chambered in .38 Super on an STI frame. I switched back quickly to .45s. Recently, I've been carrying a RIA .380 that fits in the side pocket of my messenger bag.
Ruger 10/22 and a shit load of good 22lr ammo and a man could survive the Apoc.
Mp5 .22 with a happy stick works too!
Depends. Some days it's my Beretta Nano. Some days it's my Kahr CW-40. Thanks for the share!!
I still carry a .38 special snub nose, hammerless, for pocket shooting ability. I've been carrying it for almost 30 years and seem to always end up going back to it. I have a nice Walther PPQ SC and other pistols but I end up back with that snubbie due to it's extreme "concealability" (not a real word... I know, lol) and the fact that it can be fired easily in a jacket pocket, etc.. I want to check out the new Ruger Max-9 without the safety (Proc model), that looks nice and has a great price point for what you get.
Sometimes i carry a Colt Cobra from 1969, very accurate and light

Nice.
I use both calibers for EDC. At my age, the pistol recoil from these calibers is easier to handle and I have a greater chance of hitting my target. Thanks for another awesome video, God bless WTW.
How about some of the shot shells into the clay? That would be fun to see. Thanks for the video and all you do.
I like that idea! I can tell you that CCI 357/38 Shot Shells will vaporize the head of a (3 foot) Copperhead at 3 yards.
Excellent! My carry rounds .380 being my main and 22mag backup
Dude that’s awesome!!!👍👍🐐👍👍
Awesome video
JHP 22LR, less lead fouling means less misfires. Mushrooming requires more deceleration, but leaves a more cohesive round after spread.
And 22LR because your mag appears endless, the print for CC is small (can be small), the bullet is cheap, the weight is low, the recoil minimal.
If you need a CCW in an ankle holster, consider a 22LR as a second on the other ankle, or a bra holster, or a small of the back.
So many people say the caliber is too small, but it's not so much size of the hole as who gets a hole first. At 50 yards or less, that 22LR JHP has an effective hole.
And usually enough rounds to convince someone to leave and find something easier to mess with. And, at about 10 cents per round at 500 rounds, no real reason to not go to the range and get really good at hitting things :-) But I prefer the Glock 26/9x19.
As I always say, I don’t wanna be shot with any of them. And always another awesome video bro.
I do enjoy your clay test. I don't know if you have done these but I would like to see 22lr vs 32ACP and 32ACP vs 380ACP. My EDC is a 9 mm but I generally carry a 380 for backup. I have also carried a 32ACP with my 25ACP as backup.
I was amazed at how close they are.
I love all the clay block videos!
Right through the 👁 on the exit. Slowmo on the 22looked cool
5:04 is the clay giving you the middle finger... Lol
I would love to see the difference between a Stinger and Velocitor in clay. The hp between the two is way different. The Velocitor is a far larger hp. Slower yes but curious out of that pistol if it's enough to matter.
THANK YOU for including the FMJ footage. Great comparison.
Thanks for watching Ira
4:33 when you eat a really really sour candy lol
You should start cutting them open when you have results like this so we can see the Internal damage
I carry a 44 magnum snubby Alaskan with a backup .357 GP100, with a backup .45 S&W M&P 2.0, with a backup M&P 2.0 .40, with a backup CZ 75 SP-01 9mm, with. .380 in my pocket.
.... With a backup Glock 20 10mm truck gun of course.
It sure is a great crime deterrent if someone came to your property seeing All those steel targets all over the yard that's awesome, living in a place where you're shooting range is in your backyard . I can't do that living in the city and those clay examples are awesome ,the amount of damage shown on the impact, awesome ,too much fun , thanks man !
great video, that was fun
I carry the 22lr hollow point, nice to see a comparison.👍
SR-22 with stingers.. that's what I carry..
Excellent choice, hit someone a few times=very bad day!
For 35 years carried a 1911 in 45acp, until I bought a 1911 in 22TCM. Then I bought a S&W Shield 9EZ. I like the pistol so much and it’s so lightweight, I’ve been carrying it since. The older I get, the less weight I want to carry around. The Shield 9EZ is easier to load the mag also, I’ve really been impressed with the gun.
380 easy choice for me. Precision one HP / XTP Ammo , consistent 13.5" penetration with .44 expansion from the small pistols. 👍👍
How about a comparison of 22WMR and 9x19 FMJ and hollow point?
Who tee,ur my hero. I love ur comparison videos
Thanks for watching Chris
The .380 block looks like it was gonna yell F***!!😂
I carry a 22lr p17 everywhere, everyday. Small, light, Gun + 3x 16rnd mags weighs less than my 9mm dagger empty. Buy an oversized thread protector or get a suitable washer and any empty plastic bottle becomes a throwaway hushtube. 10/10
It would be interesting to cut open the block and see the internal damage. Remember though, clay is in no way similar to a body, unless you are getting attacked by Gumby. (You younger folks can google that.)
All things considered, I'm somewhat impressed with both hollow points. Wouldn't want to be hit with either.
Look at what a pellet gun will do. I wouldn't want to get hit with that either
I rock a .380 with xtp freedom seeds most days. @ShootingTheBull410 has a great playlist on .380 hollow points.
Now us ballistic nerds need to see the round to analyze the expansion. Use water jugs or fleece blankets to catch the round. Then repeat using different barrel lengths. You can probably generate 3 or 4 videos per round.
👍👍
Another really fun video. That clay didn't have a blue chance in hollow point hell
Used to test bullet impact on the wet clay, along creek bank on the farm (from above, across creek). .22 solid = deep/narrow hole. HP = shallow/wide hole.
Exceptionally well done thank you for taking the time
Thanks for watching!
The kicker was the rocking, shows the .380 deposited more energy into the target then the .22, BUT, I have seen .22 LR lead rounds just splatter the clay target, they flatten out and just dump energy into what they hit. Remember E=1/2 mass X velosity squared.
Nice shootin Who-tee-who
Thanks Tom!
Thanks for the great video! Everything works better than nothing! Carry what's comfortable for you!
Great video. 22lr if hit right is leathal. I have a S&W compact-not very accurate, I can dump 10 rounds quick. I would not usa as an edc-Thank you.
From my experiences, 22 hollow points aren't going fast enough from a pistol to open up. Try it from a rifle and see if it makes a difference
At close range like this they’re going fast enough, as evidenced by the cavity. Non-expansion would not have even given that result.
@@Combat_Pyro disagree with ya on that maybe if it were soft flesh but the clay is too dense for that tiny hollow point
Bullets don't always have to expand to stop something or someone from doing something they should not be doing.
@@gmac8852 It certainly helps if it does
@@TommyboyGTP I agree just saying.
