43:40, a bit of a timeline of how the split happened: S4 was supposedly initially approached by Evil Geniuses in secret sometime during the Birmingham Major to make the jump to their team. Fly finds out about this, and approaches S4 and EG and asks them to consider him as well. The hotel room meeting was several hours before OG had a flight to another tournament, the Chinese Supermajor. Fly and S4 leaving at that time ensured that OG had no time to search for replacements, and thus had to drop out of the tournament. Meanwhile, Fly and S4 were able to attend the Supermajor with EG's new roster. It was definitely quite a dick move. Even the Chinese fans, who are somewhat separated from Western Dota drama by the language barrier, also thought that it was a dick move.
@@j.w.213 yes he did, and? in case you misunderstood it a bit, TS was talking about "the meeting was held several hours *before* OG goes to another tournament", not the duration of the meeting haha
After watching this again, the last part where it says "Team OG qualifed for The International 2019 With the same roster." just to win another freaking Ti back to back gives me goosebumps.

I"m not gonna lie, i really do want a friend like Ceb, or want to be like Ceb. The way he understands people and the way he talks makes it refreshing and motivating as a person.
Grubby - at 17:00, what he means is you can buy speed, you can buy height, in the context of when building a team, you can go pick up the Shaq, and you can go pick up the Allen Iverson and build a team around the traits from what players you want/can gather. In a Dota context, they just mean "we can 'buy' an aggressive mid, we can 'buy' a playcalling support" (ok so about 30 seconds after I made this comment, a chatter pointed this out. LOL, sorry for the rant in that case)
@@jacopobazzocchi8229 but a good heart and mentality might not match with the other players. Ceb is known as incredibly toxic to the general public, he's a guy with strong opinions. He was kind and caring for OG coz he'd been there for 3 years and cried with them when they lost/celebrated when they won. You don't know how 5 players will mesh together until they play together
@@jacopobazzocchi8229 Ceb is just 1 person, you put Ceb in any other team, he will never be as successful. The point of the guy is the link between players, look at the old All-Star OG, or all star EG. They were good, but not a TI champion material.
What he said makes perfect sense because that's what teams do in traditional sports and esports now too. You have to buy wins and to buy wins, you have to buy the best players, so you can buy all the best attributes, but you can't buy the intangibles associated with having a team that wins like mentality and teamwork. You just don't understand, be smarter.
Dude I've been playing this game for over a decade; seeing an absolute legend of another games, suddenly jump into this game, with all the support of other big names, whilst also adding his own share of experience from their other game careers is absolutely refreshing! Thanks for the content man, and welcome to this cursed game called Dota 2!
Fun fact, Jerax was basically unbeatable when playing earth spirit and made the heroes look insanely broken that the dev had to nerf it twice and making it unplayable at all in competitive scene at that time, he wasn't the only reason but he is mostly the source of it lmao
Jerax was the pioneer and master of the hero, every ES moves we've seen today was a blueprint of how he used to played it..i used to play the hero back when it was released and couldnt understand what he can or cannot do in the game and it felt like a total mess then i watched a youtube highlight video on Jerax's ES and i was amazed by how broken it truly was..tried to copy his moves and then i understand how good he really was because it was freaking hard to master the hero also i think ES held the record of longest period of time where he was added to the game until the time he was added to captain's mode..it took them about two years of nerfing before devs believe that he was good enough for the pro scene
Not to mention, Jerax decided to retire, but then ES got buffed so much thay Jerax came out of retirement to go win another TI then proceeded to go back into retirement
N0tail has a REAL great eye for talents heck, even those superstar names that we know and look up to now. Miracle, topson, ana. Correct me if im wrong but i think he's the one who took those guys in to be in Monkey business/OG
I've watched the documentary several times already and that detail never came to mind. As it turns out, the clip at 5:40 shows both team lineups for game 5.
The problem with how Fly (and s4) left was that they obviously knew before Birmingham that they would (or at least considered to) leave. Yet, they desided to play a big tournament with 2 guys having their minds set towards another team. AND leaving a roster at that point dropped OG into the open qualifiers... Sure it made the whole story more epic, but it's still shitty.
Yes but he is wrong. No one ever criticized Fly for leaving OG, they did because he planed it for months and never ever gave a hint until the last day. An adult is not supposed to act like that. Worse, he had his contract ready at EG.
@@EdgarTheOgre Not only that but he also took s4 with him to EG and crippled the team with barely any time left to find replacement before TI season. Dudes could have gone for a last hail Mary, stay if it works out and leave in the roster shuffle season after TI. But no, he just up and left his bro high and dry.
Well, this is actually the default behaviour in a professional setting. You dont hand in your notice until you have a new gig. But its also not an office job and it gets complicated when its your friends. His condescending attitude afterwards is what sells him as the "bad" guy. I think a part of this was avoiding publically opening up on his feelings about it. Fly handled it reasonably I'd say, but compared to the warm fuzziness of OG most people would look like the bad guy.
@17:00 what the guy is saying is, as a team owner/manager, you can get players who are tall, fast, strong, or whatever you're looking for in a player. But you can't make them trust each other and work together well
I think it was like a 2 minute long 2-man defense from ana and Topson, continued by another 3 minutes of long drawn out teamfight against LGD with 10k+ networth advantage + buybacks. That game was insane indeed.
I've never played Dota in my life. But i got to say this is one of the best "document" i've ever seen in my life. It feels like it's written by one of the best movie writers. Just got it recommended by UA-cam couple of years ago, as i did your reaction to it know. Not gonna lie, i've watched this "movie" like 3 times already. It's just so well made.
17:20 mark, in sports, you indeed can buy strength, speed, height, etc. If you are an org with good budget, you have options to get your team a strong player, a tall player, a fast player, etc. depending on your budget and how much that player costs. This happens a lot in all of physical sports where say in basketball, if your team needs height, then you buy several players above 6'8 for example to help you out, thus buying height, same with speed, strength, etc.
there's something so special when you play with a team that you like and respect and trust and enjoy just being around all just having fun, that to me is dota. you can pick any character and win or lose you have a great time just being there. the only problem with this is that it's extremely rare to have that level of friendship that all enjoy the same game you do about as much as you do. but when it happens it's just magic. now it doesn't have to be dota, but dota just exemplifies it really well. and that tournament was like just kind of proof that happy thoughts go a long way.
Back in 2014-2017 i used to meet random people in pubs that just have fun and laughs in voice comms, so i asked them to party up and play together and it was a blast! Now those people are having their own lives, and it felt kinda lonely. Unfortunately i've never found such fun people in dota ever again since then. People just start to blame here and there, whine here and there, like there's no fun anymore with random people. Such a sad thing, really. Now i only play pubs with friends, no more random fun people.
You can get a tall guy (buy height) you can get a fast guy (buy speed) but you can't buy communication (can't predict how people are going to gel), and you can't buy trust (can't predict who will trust who). This is true in baseball, football, etc. That's what he was saying. This is a popular and common mindset in sports ownership when looking for new players.
The Fly S4 situation is not too hard to follow imo. S4 at the time was one of THE biggest names in Dota 2, a prior TI winner who was considered one of the best mid laners in western hemisphere. He was disruptive to the team by all the comments about him from other team mates and hints that OG members have dropped. He seems like a nice guy, so I don't know what is the deal, but he has been accused of being snobbish by more than one team, it could also be his Swedish sensibilities (or lack of, considering we are not great at it here). So his presence gave the team a lot of prestige but it was also expected that he probably will not stay as he was constantly swapping teams after Alliance fell apart. Fly was not only the best friend, not only a part of the OG mindset, not only the captain but also the part owner of the team. And he either was told and tempted by S4 or found out that S4 is leaving, and got in contact with EG about joining them...WITHOUT giving the OG leads, team, his friend, anyone except S4 a heads up about his decision...right as the TI season was starting. This is extremely unprofessional because he isn't only a player, he also the captain, and co owner and his partner is the team manager and his partner is also going to exit the team with him. Here are pointers to take in: - If you are already going into a tournament with the prospect of you are about to head into a new team and play the next tournament with that team you sure as hell aren't going to be playing well with your current team, because you don't even care. - You are the captain, the captain is supposed to lead in the good times and bad times, for fuck's sake captains are synonymous with being expected to go down with the fucking ship, not bailing the moment they feel the pressure. - Your life partner is also involved with the team as the manager and is responsible for basically all the needs of the team, from being the contact person, to making sure the needs of the team are met, and she is also going to leave with you. AND YOU STILL ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TEAM YOU CREATED IS GOING TO HAVE A BACKUP MANAGER WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO LEAVE FOR ANOTHER TEAM? - Also you don't sell your shares, but transfer it to your partner so that you still rake in the money from the team you are abandoning, effectively milking the cow till the last drop. - Not to mention, your best friend, the one you call your brother is in a vulnerable state in his personal life and you are fully aware of it. I don't know man, this isn't grey, this is very black and white, the man made a decision knowing his decision is going to sabotage the team. Why isn't anyone mad at S4? Ana has left the team abruptly multiple times, JERAX, Ana and Topson all are playing for other teams now, no one has any issues with it. Why is that? Because none of them had the position of Fly, none of them did what FLY did, it was a clear betrayal weather anyone likes it or not, it is what it is.
The "Are you gonna invest more time when your hearti s not in it " line is something people can implement not only in relationships but also in life. We always think about being with the norm and not getting out of the box is ok since we are already here and might as well just do it. Remember that whatever happens, if your heart isnt on the right place, its always bound to fail at some point. Every endeavor that you go on will fail if you dont put your heart in it. also Grubby is right. Theres no other way Fly can do it. If he wants it, he needs to do it. He sure does suffer the consequence now but thats also part of it. he did what he wants and even though the consequence of it afterwards was massive, he probably made peace with it.
Bro that's why there is a law for leave notice (in my country it needs to be 1-2 months prior). If OG is a company, Fly's leave would destroy entire company or make the business crippling which would resulted in lawsuit. Wheter the emotions involved or not, to destroy other's life just because you don't feel like it is always shitty moved. Always.
@@oramisc90 You have to consider the timeline. They had just finished birmingham major which is like almost 3 months prior TI. Fly leaving felt it was rushed but its because he has to do alot of things. He wants to join TI. He needs to find a team and make sure that it will qualify or already qualified. If he will join qualifiers, he needs to find a team real fast as they need to register for the qualifiers. Maybe a shitty move but it is justified.
we already hear from Fly at the start what is he all about is he want to compete and WIN above anything else his friendship with n0tail is real but it is what he is you can see n0tail had much stronger feeling about their friendship that he would never see or think was coming to an end both have their own valid reasons but from third party perspective we will always see Fly as the traitor because he was the founder and the pillar of the team

@@oramisc90 Well I mean they are not that kind of company tho. Well with Fly's action yeah it wasn't right. It wasn't ethical to say the least but I mean if you were on Fly's shoes what would you do? Stay and probably not play TI or go to another team that you think would give you a chance of winning? I think him leaving was the best choice out of all the other choices available. I mean if he stayed it would even cause more damage since it is implied that the tension was pretty high back then.

When he says ‘you can buy height’ he’s referring to how in the nba players are bought into teams based on height, so for esports height could represent reaction time, or some other gameplay skill. But, you can’t buy someone who you can trust and who trusts you. Edit: Also, about the first generation comment; he said the first generation of a new type of player.
"They were the favorite but that depends on what you favor" doesnt make much sense on its own but with the part that came after its clear what he was talking about.
wow i am early holy. also i wanna see how grubby affects increase in the number of new players, him plus ti is probably gonna get a lot of new players in the game

Seeing your face expressions is awesome. imagine how tense it was, seeing this live the entire TI week. After that finals weekend i pitched a movie story of this to alot of my friends and coworkers. they could not belive this story was real.
Man, this was a fantastic run for OG. I love how new people in Dota are enthusiastic about this stuff. Really feels like a breath of fresh air. A pity we never saw the gold roster of OG playing against TSpirit, they really seem like carrying the torch now.
*All six of them* This hits me. I miss this one friend of mine, we're the ones who play dota among our friends. He plays mid and I'm support. Man those good college days. We play as long as we can, really missed those. We both now quitted dota and took our own paths in life. Those were the good times. *It's best to play with friends* win or lose.
thanks grbby for watching this.. as a dota fan for so long, u wanted this game to extend til my son could play this.. this video was so much emotional how many times i watched it. hopefully u stayed and enjoyed the games we keep playing. welcome grubby dota2
17:14 he meant he can find tall and fast players, because those features are very measurable on a get go. Trust and good communication are not so easily measurable as they are team oriented features and when you're assembling a team, you can only have a good guess at start. You cannot really simulate a tournament pressure. I could be wrong, but I think that was his point.
When the guy quotes that "you can buy speed, you can buy strength, you can buy height" he means in constructing a roster you can go pay the necsssary money to get the physicals you want
IMO, this is by far the best game tournament I've ever watched. The whole time I got goosebumps and just hearing them and watching from a screen, I felt their emotions. A group of ragtag that somehow found each other and turned everything upside down and proved the world wrong. Although what happened after TI9 was sad, everything has to end at some point.
Defending the "you can buy speed" guy, he's just making a generic sports comment. You can buy fast, tall and strong players for money. You can't buy team trust and synergy.

I liked grubbys pov on fly leaving og. You cannot call fly a traitor for leaving og. You have to understand that the team hit an all time low and fly realized that the team can no longer works and he needed a new approach on how to move forward. Maybe og would have worked out if he stayed, no one really knows as it did not happen. Fly did what he did at that time as he thinks that it was the good option at that time. I used to hate fly prior ti8 after the announced departure then gradually i came to understand and empathize with his reasons. Do not paint fly as the villain and move on.
In strictly Dota terms, Fly made a good choice. OG was floundering. JerAx and S4 are still players he can count on, but carry Notail and Ceb in the midlane were falling behind, especially when you compare them to all the star core duos out there. Sumail and RTZ are among the best at their positions. Crit is a former teammate so Fly knows how he works. That group has a lot of experience in there. NA is a weaker region overall than WEU that even if EG goes through open qualifiers, they have a great shot of getting to TI. It just didn't pan out. Fly most likely knew that he's about to say something that will be incredibly hurtful, and S4 would have to follow Fly's lead in how he'll handle the message. That's probably why not much was said. Anyone who hasn't moved on should move on. Fly has already paid his penance when OG won the two TIs after he left. He's made his bed and is lying on it.
Its not what he did that was wrong, its how it was done.He could've told the rest of the team that he would be leaving but he basically just gave them a surprise, leaving what was left og to die.
i agree on moving on but disagree on not calling out fly's action a traitorous act. its sad though that people have still not move on after 3+ years after OG winning TI8. OG pretty much ended the rivalry by winning TI since it was Fly's dream/goal. much better to do is to just ignore fly and let him do the thing he wants. TI9 was just a bonus to flaunt it towards fly (it feels good for notail without the intense hate towards fly anymore). pretty much like if you had an ex who cheated on you, you don't forgive her but you just ignore her and move on with your life. no chance of reconnection between the two and just move to their separate ways.
New fan here Grubby, been watching your Dota videos and loving it, plus I think there's something about us being the same age that really makes me feel like I can follow your thought process a lot more than these zoomers, I really appreciated your mature take on Tal leaving OG, I'll admit I was quick to call him a traitor when it happened but there is always more to the story and I think the younger crowd wouldn't understand it like people with more experience in life. Excited to see more of your stuff!
Grubby you should rewatch the full grand final from TI8. Really incredible games for both teams. Really beautiful dota. You'll learn a lot about the game and respect how intense those matchups were in those games as well.

I still remember watched that final game on my senior college year Me and my friends went absolute banana when OD shout CEEEEEEEEEEEEB I lost 50K IDR to a bet with my friend but damn, those were really good games
I remembered watching the TI6 game OG vs TNC causeI was support both I'm an OG fan and also I am on the side of the SEA Server teams especially TNC with Filipino players (Im a Filipino) .. that was somehow shocking and heartbreaking at the same time .. I felt like it wasn't meant to be in that results .. almost made me think that OG was being way to confident for themselves that they didn't studied their opponents .. they didn't even banned the bestpicks of their opponents and just trying to force their way of how they play and how they drafted all the time .. that TI also results to its breakdown and to some of their fans .. but not me 😁
43:00 What I tihink most people have issue with regarding Fly leaving is not the Dota part, but the friendship part - from player perspective, it is absolutely ok to leave out of the blue. From business perspective (him being co-owner), its a bit of a dick move but worse things happen. But to do it to your best friend of 8 years is not acceptable. Forget about the Dota, he pretty much got in front of his best friend of 8 years and said "You are not worth my time and I am better off without you". I think anybody who got backstabed by their best friend finds it very hard to see Fly as anything but a horrible person (myself included)
Fly leaving without discussion or a heads up or anything is what people got chaffed about. It was him leaving or making a career/team change... it was how he did it that put a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
I played HoN for years back in the day when Fly and N0tail dominated the scene with Fnatic. I only recently watched Grubby reactions to the Truesight vids and then found this vid on my own. I was often skeptical about playing Dota2 being so far behind on game knowledge and whatnot now that I'm a working boomer, but this comeback story transcends Dota and lit a fire under me. I have now gotten farmed in my last 10 pubs but at least the vid is still good KEK.
Buying speed, height, and strength is referring to teams in other sorts that will pay large amounts of money to pay for the best players in the in order to stack their team so that they have as little competition as possible.
@@FollowGrubby no worries at all! Enjoying your content greatly and happy that you’ve gotten me back into Dota2. Started watching you when you were playing aoe 2 with viper. Started watching your WC3 content because I used to play that when I was younger, then when you started playing Dota2 went along with you to that.
When he said "you can't buy speed, you can't buy strength" etc he was talking about physical sports where you can pay more for a faster or stronger athlete but that doesn't mean you can trust them.
DotA 2 community doesn't call him traitor just because he left Johan lol They call him traitor because he left the team during international, right before 3 months of international like OG would have straight up dropped out from the TI, it was an narcissistic move I don't care about this friend or that but at least you need to have some human decency, he left them right before TI was going to start, and had fight with Yohan, just because he wanted to switch teams also after EG lost he in an interview smiled unto the camera and Said I hope LGD wins this TI and not OG. So yeah his narcissistic and self serving twisted nature wasn't liked by audience and also Cr1t from EG also S4 who's notorious for betraying every single team that relied on him all came together and EG became a hatred hub whilst OG was an underdog with new standins so now with these kind of stories and character it was perfect underdog disney movie, with it's villains for people to blame and it's hero for people to praise.
Hey man love your content ! Especially your take on Fly. We assume him as a traitor but he is actually competitive sort and wants to win above all. As he said OG is "victory" and "friendship", Notail is the friendship part but Fly is the victory part and, for his own goal and career, he had to take a decision. Now I m not telling Notail and the rest of OG didn't suffer, their feeling is leggit 100%. But you know when I see the look of Fly after he lost to OG, I don't see sadness but more like "regret". Lot of things must have gone into his head, before, at this moment and after. And maybe he tought that OG didn't win because of him. Must have been hard for a competitive guy. But anyway thanks to that we got one of the most epic story of E-Sport so far. Love those guys and as French man I was happy to see Ceb at the top !
I didnt like OG from the beginning cause of that "favorites" mindset and there was Miracle- being idolized in our country at that time due to his godlike plays when in reality, his team helped with most of those plays. Most of the Dota players here in Philippines developed a mindset that if youre a Pos 4 or 5, you dont get even 1 CS. Your role is to always buy tango, healing salves, clarity, always stack camps, always pull creep farms so the carry can CS safely under the tower, and when they get spoonfed enough, they will be able to carry the game. Always hated the concept cause it meant a very big sacrifice by the supports which could backfire if the carry isnt good enough. When OG won against EG by being a coordinated team, I grew interest in them especially when the memes of noTail staring down at Fly were trending everywhere. But when I saw the TI8 True Sight, I fell in love with OG. Such an anime thing, but imagine a team thats held together by friendship, one that believes in its members skills, one that has of fun, and one that wins TI's while having fun too. I got back to Dota after taking a break, that is, until my laptop broke down a couple months ago. Its really entertaining to watch you get into the game we like. We hope you enjoy Dota. And I hope that you keep on uploading cool vids like these.
1:18:51 The fun fact about "chinese year" is, TI has a curse or pattern for team that winning ti.. TI 1 champ : NAVI (not chinese team) TI 2 champ : IG (Chinese team) TI 3 champ : Alliance (not chinese team) TI 4 champ : Newbee (chinese team) TI 5 champ : EG (not chinese team) TI 6 champ : Wings gaming (Chinese team) TI 7 champ : Liquid (not chinese team) so people predicting TI 8 will be the chinese year again, and OG proved it wrong and break the curse..
in regards to the t18 favorites, at the time I definitely saw a lot of people saying EG were their favorite to win TI, heck I was one of them. I wagered on EG winning because frankly, I thought sumail was unstoppable 😅
That part where Ceb had them come to France was the reason why people treat Fly as a traitor. Ofc he knew going out that way would leave the organisation in a mess. Ok, maybe his heart wasn't there anymore. Sure. He should have told them that's the case, and he's going out, but not in a short shocking manner like some teenager heartbreak. Make time for his old org to slowly replace him, since the issue was clearly not just about you feeling you're no longer on the right place. (There's probably a bit of internal politics between them here, too, which I won't talk about). Doing this at this exact timing of OG's lowest point ever could have broken the organisation forever. Fortunately Ceb stepped up to... kinda power-grab OG via the hole Fly left. It was necessary, as NoTail clearly needed the time to heal and grow up. This whole TI8 OG story, in the end, turns out to be a story where this person named Johan Sundstein grows up to be a man.
I haven't got through this whole video yet, but couldn't help but notice how they seemingly brushed over how Notail and Fly played together for Fnatic in HoN as well, long before they got into Dota 2. Him being called a traitor seems to be a slight stretch. Keep in mind, him leaving was ultimately the catalyst that made it possible for OG to turn into two-time, back to back TI winners. Edit: Yeah, that took about another 3 minutes. My bad.
43:40, a bit of a timeline of how the split happened:
S4 was supposedly initially approached by Evil Geniuses in secret sometime during the Birmingham Major to make the jump to their team.
Even the Chinese fans, who are somewhat separated from Western Dota drama by the language barrier, also thought that it was a dick move.
didn't they say the talk in the hotel room was short? 42:00

LOL, sorry for the rant in that case)
you can also "buy" a guy with a good heart and mentality like Ceb. That commenter was simply spitting nonsense.
@@jacopobazzocchi8229 right, but I think the point the guy was getting at is that you can't buy chemistry and having the stars align so to speak
You just don't understand, be smarter.
ive been watching this guy's reactions and i can see how he appreciates the game. subscribed!
put some respekt on Grubby name
Dude I've been playing this game for over a decade; seeing an absolute legend of another games, suddenly jump into this game, with all the support of other big names, whilst also adding his own share of experience from their other game careers is absolutely refreshing!
Thanks for the content man, and welcome to this cursed game called Dota 2!
it's only cursed if you choose to believe so
Playing it since Dota 1.. 2006.. almost 2 decades..
@@BabyDoocks same here...since 2007
2006 here too 🎭
Fun fact, Jerax was basically unbeatable when playing earth spirit and made the heroes look insanely broken that the dev had to nerf it twice and making it unplayable at all in competitive scene at that time, he wasn't the only reason but he is mostly the source of it lmao
Jerax was the pioneer and master of the hero, every ES moves we've seen today was a blueprint of how he used to played it..i used to play the hero back when it was released and couldnt understand what he can or cannot do in the game and it felt like a total mess
then i watched a youtube highlight video on Jerax's ES and i was amazed by how broken it truly was..tried to copy his moves and then i understand how good he really was because it was freaking hard to master the hero
also i think ES held the record of longest period of time where he was added to the game until the time he was added to captain's mode..it took them about two years of nerfing before devs believe that he was good enough for the pro scene
Not to mention, Jerax decided to retire, but then ES got buffed so much thay Jerax came out of retirement to go win another TI then proceeded to go back into retirement
i remember valve went to buff Earth spirit one day after jerax announced his retirement. legend haha
N0tail has a REAL great eye for talents heck, even those superstar names that we know and look up to now. Miracle, topson, ana. Correct me if im wrong but i think he's the one who took those guys in to be in Monkey business/OG
Didn't cep discover topson?
He said that he scouted him because he always get outplayed by him in pubs
Also Ana played in the pro scene before OG he just wasn't a breakout star.
topson was recommended by jerax, and approached by ceb.
Yeah was supposed to play for IG, he was also a part of IG’s second team prior to OG
5:50 the TI8 game 5 lineup. Still give me chills.
I've watched the documentary several times already and that detail never came to mind. As it turns out, the clip at 5:40 shows both team lineups for game 5.
Wow thanks
It has been great revisiting these videos with you Grubby!
Its really an anime story especially the last part is such a great ending when u know what happens next :D
one of the best anime, they can make an anime similar to kings avatar with this kind of story.
Grubby with one of the most mature takes on the Notail-Fly incident I've heard.
100%, I hope he can make a positive impact on our community... I doubt it... but I hope.
Yea i think only pro players only knows this, gorgc and admiralbulldog has the same opinion just like what grubby said.
@17:00 what the guy is saying is, as a team owner/manager, you can get players who are tall, fast, strong, or whatever you're looking for in a player. But you can't make them trust each other and work together well
Fun fact. Sumail the TI winner at 16 yrs old was OG carry of TI10 along side topson in mid, notail, and ceb
every now and then, I go back and re-watch the TI8 UB finals game 3, just to remind myself that that game actually did happen
Such a crazy match, it feels like people totally forgot about it.
I think it was like a 2 minute long 2-man defense from ana and Topson, continued by another 3 minutes of long drawn out teamfight against LGD with 10k+ networth advantage + buybacks.
That game was insane indeed.
TI8 UB Finals is a Disney Movie
best game of TI8
Grubby should watch that replay
Topson and Ana are back in the pro scene today! They are playing for T1 in qualifiers for this year's The International.
51:30 the whole sequence from there is just gold 🤣 I bet everyone was like "where's the boat?"
It's not about leaving them hanging. It was about not talking it out... the feeling of betrayal comes out of the way it was done.
This happens a lot in all of physical sports where say in basketball, if your team needs height, then you buy several players above 6'8 for example to help you out, thus buying height, same with speed, strength, etc.
you just have to look at PSG and Man City with their big budget
there's something so special when you play with a team that you like and respect and trust and enjoy just being around all just having fun, that to me is dota.
you can pick any character and win or lose you have a great time just being there.
the only problem with this is that it's extremely rare to have that level of friendship that all enjoy the same game you do about as much as you do.
but when it happens it's just magic.
now it doesn't have to be dota, but dota just exemplifies it really well.
and that tournament was like just kind of proof that happy thoughts go a long way.
I never played or even watched a single game of Dota2 besides these movies but these guys are my heroes now.
The power of video editing
I love that grabby is new to dota but, because of his background, very quick to catch on.
Here are pointers to take in:
- If you are already going into a tournament with the prospect of you are about to head into a new team and play the next tournament with that team you sure as hell aren't going to be playing well with your current team, because you don't even care.
Well said man, well said
The "Are you gonna invest more time when your hearti s not in it " line is something people can implement not only in relationships but also in life.
Maybe a shitty move but it is justified.
we already hear from Fly at the start what is he all about is he want to compete and WIN above anything else
his friendship with n0tail is real but it is what he is
you can see n0tail had much stronger feeling about their friendship that he would never see or think was coming to an end
both have their own valid reasons
but from third party perspective we will always see Fly as the traitor because he was the founder and the pillar of the team
@@ins3kta886 I know there is a 3 months gap but this is E-sport team-game like every teams spend like entire year to know each other rhytm. The fact that Topson and Ana played extremely well with the rest is miracle enough. Just imagine it's not Topson and Ana, it would be guaranteed loss.
I get what you are syaing tho but still.. I can't wrap my head to justify Fly's action.
I mean if he stayed it would even cause more damage since it is implied that the tension was pretty high back then.
going thru a fucking shitty time, I lost something rly valuable, Grubby, viewers, u know when u lose something it sucks but when u lose something that MEANS something..ye, but thanks to you im still smilling and enjoying the videos u provide and entertain us with, thank you
So many nice scenes of my neighbourhood of Frederiksberg in Copenhagen
I never realised how much hate Fly was still getting. I'm 100% with you for all you said about the Fly situation.
He is a toptier player and he try to go another way to TI.
Might be big part memes
OG building their team before TI8 has some real Overwatch trailer vibes. The one where Winston is calling everyone back together.
*All six of them*
This hits me. I miss this one friend of mine, we're the ones who play dota among our friends. He plays mid and I'm support. Man those good college days. We play as long as we can, really missed those. We both now quitted dota and took our own paths in life. Those were the good times. *It's best to play with friends* win or lose.

ITS HARD NOT TO CRY!!!!!!! I'VE WATCHED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES NOW STILL MAKES ME CRY 😭😭😭
thanks grbby for watching this.. as a dota fan for so long, u wanted this game to extend til my son could play this..
this video was so much emotional how many times i watched it.
hopefully u stayed and enjoyed the games we keep playing. welcome grubby dota2
Really love how level headed and insightful your reacts are. Subbed.
Biggest anime betrayal in eSports history
With greater payback story in the anime.
He understood it after, but decided to make fun of it anyway. Idk why
I think no. Speed, height, strength but not team and communication, this is directly related to the Olympic motto, faster, higher stronger-together
They picking they favorite hero in the grand finals is absolutely insane confidence!
Best thing was that the document roasted Grubby every corner. XD
grubby will be in ti soon
I'm so hyped to see Grubby watch the upcoming True Sight with the rest of us.
85 minute lead up to sound mute, OUCH. Harpooned the climax! Thanks youtube
I love grubby’s positivity in everything
Crazy to think how long ago ti3 was. When illusions dealt full damage to buildings
When the guy quotes that "you can buy speed, you can buy strength, you can buy height" he means in constructing a roster you can go pay the necsssary money to get the physicals you want
Papa Ceb: "Come to Paris boys". Some love right there
Ohh I just noticed you hit the 250k Sub Mark! Congrats!
Thanks Chris :D
Oh hell yeah new video, i get excited everytime
IMO, this is by far the best game tournament I've ever watched. The whole time I got goosebumps and just hearing them and watching from a screen, I felt their emotions. A group of ragtag that somehow found each other and turned everything upside down and proved the world wrong. Although what happened after TI9 was sad, everything has to end at some point.
Thank Grubby for doing these series rewatches.... brings back a happier time in my life
Also since you and Dendi know eachother you should really do "Free to Play" it's still my go to watch if i need motivation in dota
OG turned last game into a pub, what a Boss move to just pick your faves!
"the height-buying guy" lmao, i kept laughing every time he showed up after that speech 😂
bro. how come I see you just now? what mature insights about the drama and the machine part in lgd/ good content man
Finally reacting to this documentary... Love your insights and opinions Grubby
Amazing!! I recommend watching Dota archives too, especially The Buyback and Gyro Diffusal. It shows how good ana and topson really is in Dota.
Defending the "you can buy speed" guy, he's just making a generic sports comment.
You can buy fast, tall and strong players for money. You can't buy team trust and synergy.
Yes, that makes sense when you compare with traditional sports athletes, I see it now!
@@FollowGrubby Great! By the way, it's been awesome watching you get into Dota.
We actually met at one of the first Copenhagen Games events way back. I was with AurorA and got to meet you and your lovely wife.
You're a big inspiration and generally cool dude. Thanks for the content ❤
3 sentences is long tho . esp if theres no one else speaking in that room .
Very hard to understand for stans.
I was waiting to your reaction to this because I've never saw it before either 😌

OG is incredible team they always find some good rookie like miracle, topson, ana,ATF,yuragi,BZM,
NoTail's "All six of them" always makes me cry ! :')
Not Armlet on ana's Ember. It was Silencer's ability taking him down, ana made it back to the fountain with 2HP. But that wasn't the best play in that game. He DOGDGED 2 ultimate abilities. That was a highlight. Please try and do an interview with ana. He is Dota 2's most famous recluse.
Thank you again grubby for reacting to this beautiful team. I can't wait for that day that valve invite to be in TI.

Grubby, I can literally see your impact on the DotA player statistics page in steam. GG
For me especially was during the 3rd place loser interview at TI8, Fly wishes LGD good luck in the final and says nothing about OG.
Btw, that coach guy wasn't being racist, ana is ethically Chinese
Fly leaving without discussion or a heads up or anything is what people got chaffed about. It was him leaving or making a career/team change... it was how he did it that put a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
I played HoN for years back in the day when Fly and N0tail dominated the scene with Fnatic. I only recently watched Grubby reactions to the Truesight vids and then found this vid on my own. I was often skeptical about playing Dota2 being so far behind on game knowledge and whatnot now that I'm a working boomer, but this comeback story transcends Dota and lit a fire under me. I have now gotten farmed in my last 10 pubs but at least the vid is still good KEK.
great to have a balanced view on the whole n0tail - fly thing. Good vid thanks Grubby
Smart commends and analyze of the drama. I can support it 100%!
Also beware of burning boats :D
Buying speed, height, and strength is referring to teams in other sorts that will pay large amounts of money to pay for the best players in the in order to stack their team so that they have as little competition as possible.
Ah so I’m as unknowledgeable about sports as he’s about esports
@@FollowGrubby no worries at all! Enjoying your content greatly and happy that you’ve gotten me back into Dota2.
Started watching you when you were playing aoe 2 with viper. Started watching your WC3 content because I used to play that when I was younger, then when you started playing Dota2 went along with you to that.
There it is baby! That's what I've been waiting for!
When he said "you can't buy speed, you can't buy strength" etc he was talking about physical sports where you can pay more for a faster or stronger athlete but that doesn't mean you can trust them.
The greatest eSports story
And I hope that you keep on uploading cool vids like these.
it was a betrayal from fly but also a very smart move.. you could consider him an evil genius, so everything comes into place :P
OG story is probably the perfect movie material
1:18:51 The fun fact about "chinese year" is, TI has a curse or pattern for team that winning ti..
TI 1 champ : NAVI (not chinese team)
TI 2 champ : IG (Chinese team)
TI 3 champ : Alliance (not chinese team)
TI 4 champ : Newbee (chinese team)
TI 5 champ : EG (not chinese team)
TI 6 champ : Wings gaming (Chinese team)
TI 7 champ : Liquid (not chinese team)
so people predicting TI 8 will be the chinese year again, and OG proved it wrong and break the curse..
Wings remains the last chinese team to win TI and that was 8 FUCKING YEARS AGO...I didnt realised that it had been that long since they last won TI
in regards to the t18 favorites, at the time I definitely saw a lot of people saying EG were their favorite to win TI, heck I was one of them.
I remember just casually driving in the highway at philippines seeing a giant ad board " OG CONGRATULATION " xD
This was crazy man, this took years to complete from 2012 upto TI18
"I play videogames, it's very simple" that's Jerax for you
I haven't got through this whole video yet, but couldn't help but notice how they seemingly brushed over how Notail and Fly played together for Fnatic in HoN as well, long before they got into Dota 2.
Him being called a traitor seems to be a slight stretch. Keep in mind, him leaving was ultimately the catalyst that made it possible for OG to turn into two-time, back to back TI winners.
Edit: Yeah, that took about another 3 minutes. My bad.
Loving the reactions Grubby keep up the good work buddy! And welcome to the wonderful Dota 2 community!
This team found and solved so many ways to not win TI. Such an awesome story of guts. Sebastian is the definitely the GOAT, what an awesome human.
