what an incredible 1st meepo game. like he doesnt quite have a sense for the timings and objectives on the hero, but winning out on ridiculously good mechanics
Im lvl 25 on this hero in low devine, and youre doing a great job. Especially the first 3 kills were amazing. 56:56 Splitting your meeps into two groups, dodging a fight in their triangle and turning to kill tide was also pog. A few tips: -You should dedicate a button for "all other units" it selects everything but your main hero. its super useful on any hero that buys manta or or has summons. -As soon as you have 3 meepos you should use one of them (ideally meepo 2 or meepo 3) to walk around the map ganking or counterganking. This slows the enemy carries farm, allows neutral items to drop, gives you more xp, as meepos clones only get 30% so more than 2/3 are wasted, and it makes space for your farming meepos until they poof in. -You can use shift commands to "auto farm" the jungle by attack moving your meepos from camp to camp. -And most importantly: you can high 5 yourself with meepo.
I will honestly play Meepo today with my friends, and ruin their games, only to high five myself. I will forward them to your comment in case I get them angry. Thank you very much for the future laughs xD
If you play 50 meepo games you’ll single handed my carry your team by the end of them and climb the ranking system so fast. This was truly amazing to watch a first ever meepo game.
"All these fancy knights and scary monsters. Pff! What do they got that I ain't got? Nothing, that's what." Lore : "If you ask me, life is all about who you know and what you can find. When you live up in the Riftshadow Ruins, just finding food can be tough. So you need to cut corners, you need to scrounge, you need to know your strengths. Some of the beasts up there can kill you, so you need a way to trap the weak and duck the strong. On the upside, the ruins have history, and history is worth a lot to some people. There used to be a palace there, where they had all these dark rituals. Bad stuff. If you survived the ceremony, they would shatter a crystal and split your soul into pieces. They made great art though! Sculptures and such. Let me tell you: sometimes you stumble onto some of those old carvings. Take a pack full of those to town and sell them, then get yourself food for a few weeks. If luck is really on your side, you might find a Riftshadow crystal. Get it appraised and start asking around. Someone always knows some crazy fool looking for this kind of thing. If all else fails, sell it to a Magus the next time one's in town. They love that stuff. Still, whatever you do, be careful handling those crystals. You do not want one to go off on you. It really hurts."
Damn, so cool! Plaing meepo like this with no experience is insane. Your micro looks so natural and satisfying I tend to forget its actually a ton of effort and practice from other mobas (actually not mobas, just other games, thx who responded, you guys are so smart!).
Mobas? Its the Wacraft bud, the muscle memory and insane micro from Warcraft 3 and the other RTS games. Mobas are kiiiiind of real time strategy-ish but considering micro, not even close enough to the micro intensive typical ones like Age Of Empires, Warcraft, Stacraft etc.
@@humbletoxic he is very familiar with hots and played it for a while, but he's most well-versed in (and well known for) being an ex-pro wc3 player from the 2000s. he won 38 pro lan tournaments, and is probably the best orc player in the world!
thank you so much Grubby for the utter entertainment. I get so tense when you go in but somehow you seem to know exactly where each Meebo is. A feat way beyond me
Meepo's ult is actually a double edge sword for the team and really heavily relies on maintaining your opponents low level for it to work. Due to his ult he naturally is ahead on exp and if the player is good, gold also. This also means that a meepo kill will naturally give more exp (and potentially gold) to the opponent than a normal hero in a normal even match. If the player is also good at farming meepo, this also means he farms the whole map but less gold for your teammates due to meepos and his clones occupying the farming points of the map. Kinda like the carry naga siren problem, but the carry hitting potential replaced with ganking potential with poof. Meepo will never be meta ever (pickable though in right lineups as a last pick) unless the problems above is addressed.
When I first came over to Dota 2 from being an SC2 player, I found the game to be incredibly slow paced and could only enjoy playing micro heroes - after 10 years of only playing Dota 2 I've now almost completely lost my micro skills and find people like Meepo too fast paced + too much to think about 😂
Can you believe this guy have just learned/studied how meepo works and just had his first meepo game???? I can't believe... So hard to play this hero!!! Congratulations Grubby, quickly became one of my favourite streamers!! Keep doing these awesome videos n streamings!!
Yes, the vod is finally here!!! Been waiting for this, thank you for the treat! Phenomenal micro performance! Ive been playing the game for 10 years (+ dota 1) but Ive never managed to master this hero (only 40% winrate over hundreds of games). Still learning a lot from your first time gameplay even. U are just built different Grubby. Expecting a tutorial on how to micro properly in the future! ;)
been waiting for this one. meepo is one of my favorites conceptually but i never got around being good enough to play him outside of bot games. watching grubby be a natural at him mechanically is like magic
Damn you've come a long way from Ancient Brapparition and Kunkka. This was legitimately good play, not just "impressive for a new player" but someone I'd be happy to have on my team anytime with no worries about mid lane.
It's actually crazy how well you played for your first time on Meepo. Also that Broodmother did exactly what she's supposed to do but in this bracket it's actually normal for players to flame others for "not helping in fights". It's actually good if Brood pushes and gets towers and barracks, weven if your team loses a fight. As long as the enemy can't capitalize on that won fight (by getting objectives), your team still came out on top.
Not sure if they changed it but it used to be that if you bought boots of Travel then all of the clones could TP wherever, last time I tried was before TP had a dedicated slot though. Also where Meepo can unintentionally hinder his allies is that if all the clones are together they'll claim a disproportionate amount of XP for every death around them in a fight, so in a fight heavy lineup they'll be super far ahead in levels but the teammates will be 2-3 levels behind where they otherwise would be. Lastly viper goop disables your passives which is why you were dying so quickly and not doing the extra ransack damage.
Meepo was a really good hero before all of the changes that were done to comeback mechanics. Now, your kills just erupt in gold/xp for the enemy team when you are higher level or net worth even though it's designed/balanced into your hero to be that way, which is why heroes like meepo and alch are less popular these days. They're not inherently 'weak' in the traditional sense. They're still strong heroes, but the issue is that the enemy gets more back for killing you versus a different hero as a side effect to how the game has changed comeback gold/xp.
The micro is strong in this one! Grubby's roots are showing very hard here. Nice to see him do so well... I ain't Meepo expert, but performances like this gather smurf reports.
This was incredible; Meepo has such a high skill ceiling, he's perfect for someone like Grubby. Can't wait to watch you learn and master Meepo. In the hands of a pro he can feel so OP, as he he can level so fast. Thanks Grubby!
For being new to the game you're doing great. As soon as he gets used to stuff, like tread switching, looking at the minimap and all the spells he's gonna be even better.
i love Grubby, just played Tide, he went "this shell is insane how can you die with it" then plays meepo and keeps hitting Tide in every team fight first xD hahaha and he never sees the Thombstone, died to it ever single time xD
Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick... Is so delightful to watch your micromanagement, just imagine doing that after acquiring deeper mechanical understanding about Meepo. Keep doing great dude, that was outstanding!
honestly as a dota vet, watching your reactions as a new player to the game is so enjoyable. P.s. love your WC3 vids. they were really fun. Came here from those.
Dude since you wanna make a difference, set up a sort of code of conduct and have us, your followers, wear a nickname prefix like Grub. to represent we uphold to your values. It'll feel so good one day to join a game where the entire team has that same prefix and i can expect nice people 😁

Is incredible what grubby has being doing without the all other units command
the high five is the most important; also you can just heal other meepos with E no need to walk them to base every minute qq
wow i bet grubby, a wc3 pro, never knew about using shift commands :P

HELL YEAH BROTHER!
Yes, indeed.
Exactly! RTS pro-player playing the most micro-intensive hero. Let's goooo~
Brood actual MVP! Silently pushed out the lanes and won that game. Let the 4+4 others take the fights and she just silently did her job. So sick.
Nobody wanted to deal with a brood lane lmao. Also they didnt have good wave nukes
Ok but for real his skills on visage will be crazy good
FR looking forward to him microing the gargoyles
EVERYONE knows about meepo - but I'm looking forward to that Visage game :)

Laughed so hard when equipping tome into neutral item slot. Meepo has changed so much! Love your content man X
I came to dota2 from sc2 lone druid and meepo are my most played I have waited long for this day
This has to be the best first meepo game ever. Great micro
