I remember my Mom wearing a scarf wrapped like yours (hers was black with brightly colored flowers) with pin curls underneath. She was a 20-something in the 1940s; she and my Dad were married in 1943. What a lovely video!

I looked up empty Pond's containers from the 40's. They are glass with tin metal lids. Super cheap too! Just a thought if you ever wanted to buy one and put fresh cream in it to keep with your beautiful theme. ☺️

My childhood was during the 1950's. I remember watching my mother sit at her vanity for face care & apply makeup. I was fascinated how mascara was applied with that cute little brush. I was slow in understanding that it wasn't needed after the automatic was invented. She continued with the brush & cake. Thank you, Lilley, for showing a time that was & still is. She also used Ponds! 🥰💄
I recently lost both of my grandparents last month within 11 days of each other. They met in the late 40s, married in the mid 50s and both grew to the grand old age of 90 together. 70+ years of love and marriage. Later this month they will be having their funeral service together, surrounded by fond memories and love.
Together to the very end.
You're videos give me comfort and an appreciation for the 40s and 50s as well as an insight to how my grandparents lived their younger years back in the day.

sage i just have to say, thank you! i found your channel on a whim from your week in the life of a 1940s housewife being on my recommended. i have fell into a rabbit hole! i have always loved vintage fashion and aesthetics but your channel reignited that fire. i have bought myself some vintage pieces from a thrift store recently and have been slowly trying out pin curls and vintage looks and i just feel so happy and confident that i’ve really fell into a niche that makes me so happy. thank you ! you’re truly lovely and such a light ❤
I'm in my early 60s and grew up with these products. As a 14yo, my very first mascara was the cake & brush!
I remember my mom back in the 50s using the cake Maybelline mascara.
Lovely video, Sage! For anyone out there looking for interesting UA-cam channels where they transport you back to these times, check out NASS. He posts remastered videos from the early 1900’s through the 70s. It’s like taking a time machine! Most of the videos were taken by videographers who drove around cities and neighborhoods and filmed everyday life. Kind of hard to explain…. Anyways, have a great day!

Just enjoyed watching this video while cleaning up my fingernails, moisturizing my paws and attempting some overnight heatless sock curls - I hope they turn out. I was inspired by your hairstyles but don’t think I’m quite ready for pin curls. I didn’t know you were a nursing student! I can definitely picture you in that profession. For years and years my aunt would comment on how good my skin looked. I rarely use soap - just a hot washcloth at night to scrub off water base makeup, a cold washcloth in morning to help wake up. Then moisturize afterwards. Luckily I have been blessed with skin that never breaks out.

I simply adore these GRWM episodes. When I watch you use vintage products it brings back so many memories. My great grandmother had mascara in a little red box with a tiny brush. My grandmother swore by Pond’s face cream. I remember that glass jar with the metal lid that another subscriber spoke of. In fact, everything was in glass containers…even shampoo (Prell) in the shower…Yikes! 😬😳 As you were applying the cream, that beautiful scent came back to mind. I love your hair, you always look so darling! Thank you for keeping these beautiful moments of vintage history alive! 💄

@@mistystricklin3450 I use the cold cream make up remover with the green label she is shown using. She also shows one with a blue label, I'm guessing a moisturizer.
I've never been into makeup but this looks very simple, I like it :) I have to try this when I get makeup and skincare
