Both theories seem pretty solid. For the source of magical creatures, humans could essentially turn it into a huge farm from which they could harvest incredible amounts of material for Dark Magic. For the magical energy source, that's pretty scary. If a primal stone is essentially a pocket fusion battery, then a Primal Nexus is an gigantic antimatter reactor. As an amulet and other magical item factory, the Nexus could be turned into a human equivalent to the Sunforge. Which reminds me, do you think that the Sunforge might be built atop the Sun Nexus, like the Moonhedge was built atop the Moon Nexus?
I think the Moonshadow elves were legitimately concerned that humans could cause serious harm if allowed unfettered access to a fully intact Nexus. As for the Sunforge, it would make sense if it were located at the Sun Nexus! Thanks for watching!
As for Callum being an outlier - Aaron and Justin stated in one of the interviews (I think it was around the release of S1?) that humans in general are capable of forming a connection to a Primal Source but it's supposed to be really difficult. Apparently, there were human Primal mages before the division of Xadia but they were considerably less powerful than the elves and required longer training (plus, human lifespan is shorter), hence the need for a 'shortcut'. After humans switched to Dark Magic and all hell broke loose, it seems everyone kinda forgot humans were able to do Primal Magic - just like Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet. (I'm just retelling what I can remember from the interview, I'll try and find it when I've got some time) As for the Moon Nexus, I really like the Primal Stone theory, I actually never thought of it like that. I've also read a theory that the Moonhenge could've been destroyed to seal Aaravos in the 'world between life and death' Lujanne talked about - might be far-fetched but it would explain why he doesn't know where he is being held.
Callum's magical ability and humans' history with magic is something I covered in a previous video here: ua-cam.com/video/tJsNXgheuFo/v-deo.html I actually quoted to interview/article you're talking about, it was in Animation Magazine. I think the Moonhenge being destroyed to seal away Aaravos makes sense. If he is trapped in a world between life and death, cutting off his escape route is the best way to keep him there. It would also prevent any of his followers (if he has any) from attempting a ritual to free him.
@@TheoryPop right, I forgot you talked about it in that video! I'm so used to people not knowing about that interview... should've known you always do your research :D
No problem! I thought about discussing it a bit in this video, but I didn't want to go over ground I'd previously covered in much detail, as I thought it could distract from the main discussion of this theory. You're right though, it does seem like a lot of people don't know about that interview, which is odd since it reveals quite a bit about the magic/dark magic situation in Xadia!
Magdalena Jaworska yeah that makes sense. I think that’s why Xadia people repeat the phrase ‘Humans can’t do primal magic because they’re not born with the connection’ meaning that if you’re born with it it’s easier but if you’re not you have try as hard as Callum just to connect.
Thinking on it, I don't think "humans can't connect to a Primal Source" is accurate. Multiple times, the elves say that humans aren't BORN connected to it and thus can't do magic. Yet Callum was able to connect to it after reaching an understanding. So, if a human can understand a Primal Source, they can potentially connect to it. Take Ocean for example. In my martial arts class, we learn to flow like water in order to defeat an opponent. When you see a stream, water doesn't push against a rock, it goes around it. There is also water within ourselves. It is extremely vital for life. It is also highly destructive. The amount of damage flood waters can do is astounding. And over time, water drops can drill holes into rocks. This is my theory on how someone could possibly connect to the Ocean arcanum. Not exactly complete so even if I live in the world the TDP, so I couldn't do it.
You're 100% right. Elves are born with that connection, an understanding or the Arcanum, but for humans it's different. They don't have the innate connection that the elves do. It could be that the elves would never really think that it's something that could be "taught" to a human, since (as far as we know) there's haven't been any elves that need to learn the connection. I think your example of learning to understand the Ocean Arcanum is a pretty solid foundation: it sounds somewhat similar to Lujanne trying to explain the Moon Arcanum to Callum, so I don't think you're far off!
@@TheoryPop I also wonder if everyone that isn't gifted with being a Mage is unable to use a Primal Stone. Callum and Claudia can do magic, but not, say, Marcos or the Baker. So the latter 2 might not be able to use a Primal Stone. This would be a good way to find out who is a mage and who isn't. Lastly, how would a human connect to an Arcanum? We saw his Callum did it, with a fever dream after using dark magic that nearly killed him. Surely, there is a better way. Edit: I think I understand how Callum connected. Mind, body, and spirit need to have a mutual understanding in order for him to tap into the Arcanum. This isn't easy as these 3 things are typically at odds for one reason or another. The body wants to eat this mountain of a cake but the mind says no, this is bad for you. Or if the Spirit wants you to take a timeout for rest but the mind is like no, if we don't do something right now, everything will fall apart. Like Sarai said "To know something truly, you must understand with your hand, head, and heart. Body, mind, and spirit." If it wasn't foe that dream, I don't think Callum would have ever connected.
Both of your theories sounds convincing, but I also have a feeling (a little head-canon) that the Primal Nexus are sacred grounds to the elves. I know it may sound like something you read in a fanfiction, but hear me out: as Lujanne have mentioned, the ancestors of the Moonshadow elves does a dance-like ritual and you may have notice that the layout of the Moon Nexus is similar to that of a summer camp. What if... once a year, the elves go on a pilgrimage to the Nexus connected to their respective Primal Arcanum. But when the continent was divided, the Primal Nexus that are on the humans' side (Like the Moon Nexus, for example) were destroyed and a Guardian was placed there. If that was true, then the elves effected would the ones who use to go there.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the theories! You're probably right, a Primal Nexus would probably be treated as sacred by the elves. They're the points where the primal source is strongest and most focused, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if the elves made pilgrimages to see these locations. Perhaps to "renew" their connection to their Arcanum? Not that they're losing the connection, but more as a reminder of what that connection means to them. You've come up with some cool head-canon!
Maybe the Moonshadow Elves destroyed it so Aaravos couldn't use it? After all, he can use all six primal sources of magic, and he's a rather morally ambiguous character. Can't wait to hear your reaction to the latest season ^.^
That makes sense to me. The Moonhenge allowed the elves to access this realm between life and death, so if that’s where Aaravos is, he could use the power at the Nexus to attempt an escape.
What if Callum is Aaravos descendant? Maybe that's why he has the key of Aaravos. We know it was pass down in his family for generations. That would also explain Ezran's ability. They received them from their mother's family.
The nexus might also be the only place to primal stone. Claudia also said that the storm in her primal stone was captured from a mountain top. Although the website does say the method for making primal stones has been lost to time. At the very least I think they would be able to make single use primal stones, such as the amulets Runaan and Callum used to cast moon magic during the day. I also believe training at the nexus would enable them to establish a connection to an arcanum. In an interview with the creators around book one they said humans can learn primal magic, it's just harder. This may have been forgotten about by the elves over time, but when the division happened they were still fully aware of that and shut down the nexus, with someone to guard it so that the humans couldn't rebuild it or used the powerful magic that's naturally there. They made it a tradition and over time they forgot why exactly they were guarding it.
Very interesting, I hope we get so to see another Nexus next season so we can learn more. Also, I'm curious, why does the Moon deal with the veil between life and death? Illusions I can understand but death?
The moon goes through phases, waxing and waning, which can appear to match the life cycle of creatures and people. It appears to grow each night, until reaching maturity (full moon), then appears to "shrink" as it ages. Could be symbolic.
@@TheoryPop Okay the symbolism makes sense. At least it doesn't have to do with something like necromancy which in things like D and D and the Elder scrolls series revolves around the moon and its phases.
I would say your probably right also note that now that season three is out SPOILER WARNING That the staff from that sunforge is acting like a primal stone and may very well contain one as it has a large gem in it of about the same size. If this is indeed the case it may be that the stone is either connected to the sun forge or was made by the sun forge in which case the moon henge may be able to create a moon element primal stone. It is also possible that that may be another reason to disable it and protect it, as the number of stones may be limited so humans would keep using dark magic, as they are said to be rare i think its not possible to keep making them or that would solve the problem. But a powerful mage with a primal stone could help other weaker mages capture and loot the other side of the boarder as they did to the golem in the flash back. Plus dark magic seems to be able to do things that primal natural magic can't do but usually by twisting something into something else, for example making chains and other items turn into snakes and such. This might be another reason the dragons and elves hate it, not only does it kill and use the magic from the living, it also twists the magic into another form that it is not meant to be in and may be disrupting the natural order of the world as too much of one element diminishes another and could for example if water was twisting into fire cause a drought in an area. Just an idea mind you.
Dark magic has been shown to be a corrupting influence. Viren's "true" appearance, after years of using dark magic, and Callum's induced dream in season 2 shows how it can try to influence and alter the user, but season 3 took that further and showed how it can corrupt even a primal source. I think you're right, the the staff is connected to the Sun Forge, and Aaravos/Viren managed to corrupt it. That's scary, and powerful, stuff. It's not surprising the elves and dragons would react in the way they did and banish humans to the western half of the continent!
She'd be unaware of developments outside of the Nexus, and indeed over in Xadia, unless they had Magical Skype calls so she could keep updated! You know, when the connection doesn't drop...
Huh I just assumed that the alternate world that aaravos is imprisoned in is the one moon shadow elves can access through the moon nexus. And of course when you have a prisoner you leave a guard.
I think that, considering the nature of dark magic, the elves must have been afraid that dark mages would defile the moon nexus and somehow steal its power. The texts on Aaravos (the ones that disappeared before Viren's eyes) referenced him sharing his knowledge and powers with humans, so it's not unthinkable to assume that there were humans who were able to tap into the moon nexus.
@@WolframiteWraith He is. He's a startouch elf. Humans can do Primal Magic, they just can't power it themselves, so they need a Primal Stone, or some other source of Primal Energy, Dark Magic lets them draw Primal Energy from creatures who are connected to a Primal Source. Callum is the only Human that has bean able to open a link to a Primal Source (at least in the modern era). control of the Nexus could allow someone to make Moon Primal Stones when conditions are right.
They could probably make the Primal Stones once per month, whenever a full moon hits the Nexus. Though there'd be a limit to how many they could make, as we don't know the full process or how long a single stone takes to form or capture that amount of Primal Energy.
@@TheoryPop I'd hope you would need more than just a full moon, wasn't the Primal Stone Ezran had crafted from "The most Fierce Storm in a Generation, atop the highest Peek on half a Contestant"
Yes, you would very specifically need to capture the enhanced primal energy from the moon at the Nexus during the full moon. It won't work on just any night, and it won't work anywhere else. There's probably more to it, but we just don't know at this point.
you know Viren used sky spells in The Storm spire. Maybe as the dragon king and queen had their baby the primal source was powerful so he did it. So this theory hold up for what you said .
the theories seems solid, but in my opinion it is protected because one thing lujanne said, it was that the ancient moonelves could use the nexus to get to another plane (dimension) so maybe there is the "door" where Aaravos was expelled and imprisioned on that plane, so when the continent get divided the elves destroyed the nexus and put a guardian so nobody could, intencionally or not, free Aarabos from his jail.
What if Aaravos could use the Moon Nexus to regain his real body somehow, maybe he is being jailed beyond the veil. Runan seemed to have some idea about who Aavaros was so maybe the moon elves had something to do with locking him away, Moon elves and Star elves might be closely related
Well most want to see runaan again. But no body knows exactly what happend to him and the other assassins. Aslong as no one finds the coins he and the others are still believed dead. Maybe ezran finds somehow the coims which the elfs are trapped
@@TheoryPop hopefully. But one thing that i don't understand is that they managed to get harrows body out of his room but they didn't removed the arrows from the door and didn't clean it up from all the broken and damaged things.
@@TheoryPop yeah they left the bed room in that state for days. But why. If viren has something to do with harrows death shouldn't the bedroom already been cleaned.
@@TheoryPop Heres the thing about that though, their souls live on, (trapped, but still there) but nothing is said of their bodies. Were their entire bodies dragged into the coins or only their souls? If the latter, then Viren probably disposed of their bodies.
i think humans were capable of using magic, not just callum. possibly when aaravos taught the first dark mage, he lied and said its the only type of magic humans can use. and since after that the humans got banished, there were no magical creatures around to share knowledge abt the arcanums, and no way for humans to learn
it was stated in the novelization of book 1 that primal stone are made by the unicorns and were given to the humans by the unicorns to help ( who in exchange hunted them to near extinction)
So is the lie that human can't do primal magic. Do you think the Dragon Queen will reveal why they lie to the humans in season 4? Where are the other primal stone? How did the humans get sky primal stone if they are so rare? How can humans use dark magic and not use primal magic but they have seek mage to learn Primal Magic??? Hmm something isn't adding up here. What are the Elves and Dragons afraid of?
it was stated in the novelization of book 1 that primal stone are made by the unicorns and were given to the humans by the unicorns to help ( who in exchange hunted them to near extinction)
That would make sense. If Aaravos is trapped somewhere between life and death, and it was the Moonhenge he was sent there from, perhaps that would be his best way to escape.
@@TheoryPop wonder if we see all elfs in season 3. The trailer had skywing and earthblood elfs. Only star and ocean elfs are left. And maybe raylas parents show up in the flashback of thunders death. Because harrow and viren would probably face the dragon guard which raylas parents were in.
@@TheoryPop what kind of new relationships would you see in season 3. We know that some break apart. Probably soren is no longer ok with virens and Claudias actions. But for relationships for Claudia there are not much options left. Only crow master, cren and prince kasep. For ezran maybe between him and anya. If she's still around because the shadow creatures seem to have killed the king of neolandia. But what some want is an relation between amaya and her sun elf enemy. Well they said that things for amaya get complicated. So maybe the two won't kill each other and this could turn into an surprising relationship

you know Viren used sky spells in The Storm spire. Maybe as the dragon king and queen had their baby the primal source was powerful so he did it. So this theory hold up for what you said
.
the theories seems solid, but in my opinion it is protected because one thing lujanne said, it was that the ancient moonelves could use the nexus to get to another plane (dimension) so maybe there is the "door" where Aaravos was expelled and imprisioned on that plane, so when the continent get divided the elves destroyed the nexus and put a guardian so nobody could, intencionally or not, free Aarabos from his jail.
That's a definite possibility. The Moonhenge may be the entrance to Aaravos' "jail," so they'd want to stop him escaping!
What if Aaravos could use the Moon Nexus to regain his real body somehow, maybe he is being jailed beyond the veil. Runan seemed to have some idea about who Aavaros was so maybe the moon elves had something to do with locking him away, Moon elves and Star elves might be closely related
In this month alone I have rewatch s1 2 like 4 times only 30 mins away from 3 and 1 ep from finishing season 2
That’s some good watching!
@@TheoryPop yeah and now I'm watching season 3 ITS GLORIOUS
Anyone else notice that "Lujanne" is just a francophone version of "illusion"? A little on the nose, eh Mr. Ehasz?
Lujanne sounds just like my name! it's so weird to hear it from another tongue/language. 😆
Who wants a season 4!!!
Me! Me! I do!
Theory Pop You should make a video about the harassment/abuse controversy over at wonderstorm.
Welp now I want to rewatch S1&2...
Do it. Doooo iiiittt
Viren and people like him or worse, that's why it needs to be protected.
Definitely need to protect it from those that would abuse its power!
best youtube ever!!!!!!
Thank you!
Well most want to see runaan again. But no body knows exactly what happend to him and the other assassins.
Aslong as no one finds the coins he and the others are still believed dead.
Maybe ezran finds somehow the coims which the elfs are trapped
I'd like to see Runaan's return, and maybe it will be Ezran who discovers the coins.
@@TheoryPop hopefully. But one thing that i don't understand is that they managed to get harrows body out of his room but they didn't removed the arrows from the door and didn't clean it up from all the broken and damaged things.
Yeah, you'd think that they would have cleared the signs of battle fairly quickly afterwards, but it was left in that state for days.
@@TheoryPop yeah they left the bed room in that state for days. But why. If viren has something to do with harrows death shouldn't the bedroom already been cleaned.
@@TheoryPop
Heres the thing about that though, their souls live on, (trapped, but still there) but nothing is said of their bodies. Were their entire bodies dragged into the coins or only their souls? If the latter, then Viren probably disposed of their bodies.
Fifi is an icon
I hope they make a plush of her.
I'm pretty sure they spell it as "Phoe-Phoe" even though they pronounce it as "FiFi" or even "Phe phe". the o is silent as it is in the world Phoenix.
This is correct, the subtitles show it as "Phoe-phoe"
i think humans were capable of using magic, not just callum. possibly when aaravos taught the first dark mage, he lied and said its the only type of magic humans can use. and since after that the humans got banished, there were no magical creatures around to share knowledge abt the arcanums, and no way for humans to learn
What if the nexus could be used to create primal stones
The nexus is probably the best place to make a primal stone!
@@TheoryPop glad you think so
Ps do you hope we get more info on primal stones
it was stated in the novelization of book 1 that primal stone are made by the unicorns and were given to the humans by the unicorns to help ( who in exchange hunted them to near extinction)
We saw why on TTM
Cool
So is the lie that human can't do primal magic. Do you think the Dragon Queen will reveal why they lie to the humans in season 4? Where are the other primal stone? How did the humans get sky primal stone if they are so rare? How can humans use dark magic and not use primal magic but they have seek mage to learn Primal Magic??? Hmm something isn't adding up here. What are the Elves and Dragons afraid of?
it was stated in the novelization of book 1 that primal stone are made by the unicorns and were given to the humans by the unicorns to help ( who in exchange hunted them to near extinction)
Who else thought they were the only ones who found this series?
What if humans aren’t allowed there... because Aravos is trapped in the dimension, and that’s why they destroyed it
My theory. Maybe the moon nexus was used to capture aaravos in his mirror. And the needs his power and callums cube to get free.
That would make sense. If Aaravos is trapped somewhere between life and death, and it was the Moonhenge he was sent there from, perhaps that would be his best way to escape.
@@TheoryPop a new picture has been dropped yesterday. And it shows viren with aaravos in his centipede form
Tomorrow. Season 3 drops.
Heck yeah!
Confirm in season 3 😀
Might watch season 1 and 2 for a 12th time so i know every reference to the earlier episodes lmao
If anyone remembers me or cares im back from my grave of inactivity
Did Claudia revive you with her “healing” dark magic?
@@TheoryPop yup definitely didnt like murder anyone at all like thats crazy
People can use moon opals to use it
