    Claudia at the end of season 3 is in a much darker place than we have ever seen her before- she and her brother Soren are now on opposite sides, and she may have committed one of the darkest acts imaginable- bringing her father Viren back to life by presumably taking the life of another. And none of these actions really seem to be filling her with regret. With all that said, is it possible for Claudia to turn things around and mend her relationship with her brother and escape her father's abuse- or is she just going to fall deeper into this dark path that she is starting to go on? See what Chelle has to think about this complex situation by watching the video!

      I don't think she will have a character arc that is similar to the plans for Azula. Simply because Soren is in no way as complicated as Zuko. Therefore, I don't think Soren will be her guide.
      What I do think though, is that Viren will set her on the right path. He seemed genuinely shocked when he came back to life, because he knows the price that has to be paid for bringing someone back to life. It is something he did not even suggest for Harrow, his closest friend.
      I think Viren will become a martyr. He will die by helping Claudia to escape from Aaravos, even though Aaravos commented she was a valuable asset.
      But before that, she may be able to learn a bit of primal magic from Aaravos. By holding the source of the power of the Sunfire elves, she may become able to do sun magic and Aaravos may also learn her star magic. Then Callum, who already knows sky magic, may learn Moon-magic(which has been set-up pretty nicely already), Ocean-magic and Earth-magic.
      That means that the only way to defeat Aaravos, will be by Callum and Claudia working together.

      you and me both. she's getting more and more corrupted by the dark magic and while viren is too,he is driven by his huge ego and wish for power and respect while still overall wanting the best for human kind. He wants them to thrive but also wants the people to adore him and be the reason for this thriving and bright future. However Claudia on the other hand might end up with nothing but hatred and if she is driven by that she'll be unpredictable and uncontrolable.
      +something I've noticed is that Viren actually refuses to kill with his own hands as much as possible. I mean..he might have killed Sarai+Harrow,but we don't know that and besides those two every other person we've seen with him that afterwards disappeared was turned into a coin but not murdered. (one exeption is when he sent out the shadows to kill the rulers of the kingdoms but even here he again doesn't act himself but lets 'someone else' do it for him. we can say "well duh,if he goes there himself,not only can't he split into 4 to go to all of them at once but he would also be seen and the guilt would fall onto him,which would crumble the whole idea" but I still believe that Viren has this fucked up mindset that he's a good person and if someone actually dies more or less by his hand ,let it be the troops led by him that kill or the shadow clones, it's for the greater good of humainty in his eyes.)
      Claudia on the other hand murdered plenty already,starting with smaller murders that are justified by her wanting to safe someone else like her brother from paralysis to large murders where she kills dozens of elves on the battlefield with a single spell with no hesitation.

      @@jos-josradvanji6203 I want to add, I don't think Dark Magik corrupts the mind and soul. It really seems to just take a toll on the body though. Throughout the series we see Claudia's weakness is her blind devotion to family and the fear of losing it. It's her faith in her father that's letting herself become emotionally corrupt. Remember she started the series seeing Dark Magik as a simple tool ( she used it to make pancakes extra fluffy.) And not as the force to use only when extreme measures justify it, such as healing Soren. She's like an Azula and reverse Zuko. Starting off relatively healthy but becoming more and more callus as she sees what she thinks as her loved ones abandoning her, which makes her cling desperately to her father for validation.

    I personally think that Claudia is set up to be the main villain going forward. Yes, Viren is still alive, but Aaravos was always very interested in Claudia whenever Viren interacted with her, and could potentially choose her over Viren as his... ambassador? in upcoming seasons. Furtheromore, throughout the whole series Claudia has been set up to be a better dark mage than her father ever was, most notably in healing Soren's paralysis, bringing Viren back to life, and one smaller incident that I think is the most significant: she found the unicorn horn that became a pivotal piece in slaying Thunder, even when Viren could not. Since Aaravos is obviously the Ultimate Big Bad, I think that Claudia will essentially fill Azula's role as the more immediate villain but not the main threat. This doesn't mean she can't be redeemed, however; it'll just be a whole lot harder. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

      I think Aaravos sees her as much easier to manipulate than her father. I for one think Verin is very suspicious of Aaravos but tries not to show it. Back when they first interacted he only performed Aaravos' ritual out of desperation. Prior to that he refused to do the ritual because he thought he was being manipulated for someone else's gain and it could be dangerous for him.
      It seems as the caterpillar thing gets stronger Aaravos can use it as a conduit, appearing and performing magic within close proximity to it. So once it comes out of its cocoon I think Verin is going to be much more nervous about Aaravos than before. At least earlier he could moderate Aaravos' influence whenever he cared to (he didn't do it but he could have if he chose). Ultimately I think the pair will turn on each other and Aaravos will manipulate Claudia into thinking her father betrayed her (knowing family betrayal will make her snap), and with Aaravos not at his full strength (still trapped in the mirror), Claudia will be the deciding factor in her father's demise and Aaravos' return.

    Claudia has more talent than her father when it comes to creativity and magic. I mean, in season 1 it was her idea to switch king Harrow's soul with somone else's body. And in season 2 it was her own idea to use the deer to revive Soren from paralysis. And let's not forget how she brought back Viren from the dead. Plus Viren also mentioned how Claudia having succeeded in finding a unicorn when he failed. Her heart's in the eight place. But her choice on who to side with just got blinded by the fact that almost her entire life she was raised by her father causing her to side with Viren. So it's kinda a 50/50 chance on her being redeemed. Just saying.

    • @jos-josradvanji6203
      @jos-josradvanji6203 4 роки тому +18

      To be fair:
      1. We don't know if it was her own idea or if she just knew the spell (aka learned it from viren)
      2. She didn't just find it..she also murdered it + Viren can't exactly find a unicorn when unicorns can only be found by a pure virgin since Viren is neither pure nor a virgin x'D
      3. Her heart might overall be in the right place but honestly..she isn't as dumb as she sometimes seems,she understands plenty what is going on and still decides out of her own free will to not only go along with it but also helps to kill dozens of elves in the final battle right after joking about them having shields.
      While she might have been innocent and cute once,she certainly isn't anymore and shouldn't be underestimated.
      4. She literally gave Soren a trauma by creating an illusion of her father trying to kill Ezran and FORCED Soren practically to stab him when the illusion proceeded to attack. And not only that,she has the audacity to say "how could you" after knowing that Soren had absolutely no other choice since he even gave a warning to back up to Viren. He clearly didn't wanna have to do it and it was visible how much pain it caused him when he thought he just stabbed if not killed his father and she purposely caused that.

    After all he thought magic and my guess in her mind she is justifying like dark magic(I dont believe its a bad thing). Dark Magic is about sacrifice to be able to do things like typical magic in most magic based shows/books. But its basically the philosophy he thought her from a young age. So she sees whats happening as something they have to do for things to get better.
    Thats how i believe she justifies everything her father is doing.(I may be going too deep into this)

      It has been shown several times that the dark magic was just a way of protecting the humans from the elves, not a means to rule over humans, so it seems like more of a personality issue than the magic itself being bad. The elves and dragons do not have moral superiority over humans, so killing lesser animals to get magic to save humans against the stronger races is fine. Think about how many animals humans on Earth have killed and eaten just so humans can survive. It is no different.

    • @GayLPer
      @GayLPer 4 роки тому +2

      @@Charok1 To support this point:
      To make leather and get meat, you need to kill an animal. Ergo, a leatherworker and a butcher both require the death of an animal.
      Neither of these professions is bad. However, overhunting would lead to animals being unable to replenish their population, so if both of these went *too far*, it would be bad.
      We've seen that Dark Magic *can* cause problems with the psyche, but it could just as easily be Callum struggling with his own guilt over using it, and the influx of dark magical energy put his body into a fevered state where, in a fever dream, he was torn between his desire to do magic and his desire to do what is right.
      Viren is not evil because he is a Dark Mage. He is evil because of what he's willing to do with his magic. And we've seen an evil primal mage already, so primal magic is most definitely not inherently good.
      EDIT:
      It's worth noting that her sacrifice of the deer, while showing how far she's willing to go, is... more morally ambiguous than I think we've been led to believe. If there was a cure for an ailment but you needed to kill an animal to acquire it, we would do this in real life without a second thought. Because we're animals, and predators, and predators kill other animals for their own self-gain.
      So... I think what she did was natural, even if the method itself was, obviously, unnatural.

    • @chiefpurrfect8389
      @chiefpurrfect8389 4 роки тому

      @@Charok1 It's not an either/or dichotomy to me. I don't think the way magic works on a philosophical level is divorced from the characters or themes of the story. Callum acquired magic by understanding one of its sources, respecting the natural balance and putting in the effort to make it part of himself and form a connection with it. Meanwhile, Viren and Claudia want hard results and they want them now, price be damned as long as they aren't the ones personally paying for it. They don't put in the effort nor the respect for nature and life the way Callum was willing to in order to acquire power. And that's what makes them our villains and Callum our hero. You can make an argument as to why humans had no choice but to use dark magic and why that doesn't make them inherently evil given the circumstances, but trying to pass dark magic in itself as it's presented in the show as a morally neutral thing? Hard disagree.

      well she definitely left since claudia stated that HER MOTHER SAID that she should stay with Soren after he decided he wanted to stay with Viren.
      Like Soren mentions later,he always looked up to Viren and believed he was an incredible person,even wanted to be like him so it makes sense that he chose Viren over his mother.
      That and then there's something where I don't actually have a direct dialogue of proof but more my own thoughts on.
      I believe that Viren smoothtalked Soren into staying with him,knowing that Claudia would follow (or that the mother wouldn't break the siblings apart and suggest for them to stay together).
      What I can't wrap my head around is WHY he clings to Claudia so much.In my headcanon Soren is like Callum only a stepson to Viren,which is why Viren shows no special interest in him and which is why Soren was so jeallous of Callum who got all the love and attention from Harrow despite that blood difference.
      But that still doesn't explain why Claudia means so much to him.I mean..yeah she is his kid,parents love their kids but.. Viren has such a huuuge ego and self centered personality that it really sticks out how he acts around her. I really hope we'll all get an answer to that eventually.

So it's much harder for her to notice Verin's abusive manipulation and even if it wasn't a factor she's still a very morally twisted person in her own right.

    I honestly have mixed feelings on Claudia, in season one she was likeable, but her actions gave me reasons to not trust her
    Claudia was the one who came up with the idea of the soul fang, Claudia was the one who found the unicorn horn, Claudia was the one who brought down the dragon, resulting in Soren becoming paralyzed and the army getting into Xadia, not to mention all of the other spells we see her use!
    I understand her motives, she doesn’t want to lose her family, and that is perfectly reasonable, but the actions she has committed to try to fulfill those motives are not
    Claudia is deeply committed to the dark, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any hope for her
    If she is going to be redeemed, they can do it well, they have four more seasons planned, and that should be enough time to pull off a beautiful redemption arc
    Claudia would lose her childhood positivity and naive-ness and realize just how dark these spells are, maybe from a consult with Soren or Callum, or Aaravos ditching Viren and going for the “valuable asset” which I would be freaked out by so I think Claudia would be too
    She would go to Team Zym for help, and Soren would help her like you said
    Great theory Chelle! I like the connection to Azula and you are doing very well here! Have a nice day!

      I imagine if Claudia were to be set on a redemption arc she may need a vision akin to Callum’s own to ‘confront her dark side’. Hell, she might even lose, and the story will use that as the narrative justification for why she continues on her dark path.

      All her other actions were to some extent understandable because even when she killed the deer it was to save her brother and she even apologized shortly before saying she doesn't want it but has no choice.
      And now I am actually unsure what I want to believe because the sweet Claudia seems to rot more and more as the seasons go on. She enjoys using hurtful spells more,does more dangerous stuff,makes fun about a literal war,kills without hesitation and with no purpose of preserving life while doing so and gets more and more corrupted by the magic she uses.

      I don't think she is evil to the core but I believe she is striding towards her doom of mental instability and straight up insanity depending on what happens next.
      Yes she does it to keep what is left of her family because she is emotionally scarred since she doesn't understand why her mom left her behind without giving her enough time to make a decision of her own.I personally believe her moms intention was not to seperate the siblings and that is why she told her to go with her brother.
      But the thing is,she understands a lot of things and while she has a childish nature she is well aware what she is doing and what her father is doing which you can see on her shocked face whenever he gets more corrupted/corrupts others with spells.

She is traumatized because she had to choose between her mom and her dad, and then her dad and her brother. Then, she became a huge hypocrite. She was okay with manipulating and traumatizing Soren just to see whether or not he would let a psychopath kill an innocent boy. Soren didn't want to kill his dad, but he was willing to do that if it stopped him from killing Ezran.

    Claudia is so much more likeable than Azula, but somehow when she does dark things to support Viren, it's still more understandable. It's like Soren said, a Villain is someone who can take a normally good person like Claudia, and encourage them to do evil anyway, just from them manipulating the situation forcing them to see it as good from their point of view.
    Another commenter Jos-Jos Radvanjí told me that their theory is Claudia won't be redeemed until they somehow manage to get her mom. That the only reason she clings so desperately to viren is because her mom left her and she couldn't process and properly understand why because everything happened so suddenly before she could wrap her mind around it.
    One of the things about Azula was she was always paranoid about her mom thinking she was a monster. Claudia on the other hand, knows that her mother loved her and her brother, but that her mother had to leave Viren for her own happiness despite that. If Soren and their mother get together and invite Claudia to join them, Claudia might finally see that it's Viren who's driving her family apart with his abusive behavior, and Claudia could easily join the good along with Soren and mom.

    Personally, I feel that for a character to truly feel redeemable, they need to present an internal conflict over what they do early on. A character that previously showed no regret over their actions and never seemed to question the morality of the obviously evil acts they are performing suddenly developing a conscience partway through the story is just... weird. So for me it comes down to weather or not Claudia has seemed conflicted in any way about her actions. And the answer is mostly no.
    For instance, let's compare her to Soren, a character who's already been redeemed. A lot of their moments are shared, so it's easy to compare their reactions to the same circumstances. Take the moment where she uses a spell to try and put Rayla to sleep so Soren can kill her. Soren expresses some conflict over this, saying it's unsporting to kill someone who is asleep. Claudia, on the other hand, just sees it as a practical expedient. Then there's the fight with the dragon. While it's true it was Soren, not Claudia, that started it, it was Claudia who cheerfully proposed that they carry the dragon's corpse back home in pieces. Enemy or not, what she is discussing is desecrating the corpse of a rare and intelligent creature that they have just killed, and her tone shows that she sees absolutely nothing wrong with this. Not that it's a necessary evil mind you, but that it's a totally normal thing. Then of course, there's the illusory Viren attacking Ezran. I think this scene really says a lot about where her moral compass sits. Because while yes, Ezran isn't actually, in danger, Soren doesn't know that, and her reaction to Soren killing Fake-Viren shows shock and anger at the fact that Soren wouldn't allow Viren to murder a ten year old child. Let that sink in: She believes that the CORRECT thing for Soren to have done would be to stand aside and let Viren kill Ezran.
    Which I think goes to the heart of who she is: She will protect people that are close to her, but she doesn't care in the slightest about what happens to anyone else. Any compassion she has is purely conditional. And while she might care about protecting the health and well being of people close to her, she doesn't respect their agency. Her using dark magic to heal Soren without so much as asking him if that's what he wants is a perfect example of this. And I think that this attitude ultimately extends to Viren as well, which is why I think that if for any reason she feels she no longer needs him or feels betrayed by him, she could easily become an even more dangerous villain that he is. She's already demonstrated that she may well have an even greater talent for dark magic that he does, and she's more unpredictable. While Viren is ultimately motivated by a desire for power, Claudia is more emotional, and a revenge and anger fueled rampage feels entirely possible if she's pushed too far.

  • @ashlynnjones1194
    @ashlynnjones1194 3 роки тому +8

    Similar to azula, I think her blind loyalty to her father, and her seemingly easily bent beliefs may lead to her becoming a pawn to aaravos, and to a lesser extent, viren. Aaravos has shown interest in her and had acknowledged a number of times that her skills will be useful in the long run. Whenever he calls her a pawn, or something similar, viren will step back and tell him that she is still his daughter. I doubt viren truly knows that was he is doing wont help, and has good intentions, but in no way can I see him becoming an ally for our protagonists. Imagine if Aaravos turned claudia against viren, saying how her whole family has left her, but then twists that to say that he wont? That the power es everyone thinks is so bad is from him, and, that being the only real comfort we've found her to have, he will give as much power to her as she wants. This may lead to a great internal conflict, to betray viren, like she may think he will do to her, or to stay with him in risks of her entire family having betrayed her. I think that this may be the turning point in hercharacter, where she either turns into the big bad villian, with the help of aaravo, or she may go to her brother, becoming a force against the bad. Just my opinion that I've had for a while, and I think some of the highlights about the family dynamic for clausia shown in the video really help explain what I mean

    Redemption or rehabilitation? Why not bot? Hear me out, Claudia's use of dark magic is practically taking a huge toll on her, that could be affecting her both emotionally psychically. While Claudia's motives are mostly driven by personal desire and acceptance, it can be easily manipuleted by Viren or by Araavos to further their goals. Another point for a painful descent is power. When you have power to do everything, consequences matter little to you, specially when comes to use dark magic as form of addiction.
    Someone needs to make aware or at least Claudia's be aware on how her fixation/actions are destroying her relationships with her remaining family (Soren), her friends (Calum) and affecting the world around her.

    I still like how they're actually kind of showing the whole symbolism slowly turning white with the dark magic being a double edged sword. Unlike Lotor from season 8 of Voltron being used as bait for shock value. ( I kind of understand it's to show that not everyone could be saved, but from what I heard Voltron did it in a really distasteful way.)
    Anyways, I also appreciate how despite Claudia being the former love interest of the main character this show does NOT focus too much drama on their love triangle, unlike most shows these days, and I hope they keep it that way later on in the series even if they make her the main antagonist.

    From what I have seen there is some sort of trauma of from the mother leaving/disapearing. Something she directly feels is her own fault. Making any of her actions she has done as a sort of try to keep father happy. While, doing evil actions. You can see the two darkest actions she did (killing all the deer and what ever she did to help her father at the end of season 3) was done in honest love for her family. You can also see some major gaslighting done by her father to the point she believes only her father can do good. (this as all from my opinion built upon the actions of those around her and her)
    As for redeemed, I dont see her redeeming her self until some major mistake and realization that it was a mistake. Father(or her) killing Soren, Aaravos trying to possess Father or take her for him self are some ideas I felt were hinted/foreshadowed. Thou I also see the possibility for her own death, through her own or her fathers actions.

    Given the fact that Moon Shadow Elves have no problem being assassins, I think we can rule out the meat-is-murder philosophy of why dark magic is bad. So if taking the life of another creature is not the problem, then I can only see two alternative explanations:
    - Dark magic consumes the soul of the creatures used, and prevents them from moving on or reincarnating.
    - Dark magic literally corrupts your character, body and/or soul
    I think the show gives more hints to the later, since Sol Regem could easily sense Callum had used dark magic before. Which means it has a lasting effect that isn't cosmetic like loosing hair color.

    Just a thought, but what if, later on down the line, Viren dies. Either it’s an accident or by the heros’ or Aaravos’ hand. Aaravos, seeing an opportunity, takes advantage of Claudia’s need to keep her family safe and promises to bring Viren back to life if she essentially takes his place until he “returns.” This would be a great emotional plot point for Callum, Ezran, and Soren and would show us how she’s a complicated person and Aaravos’ skill at manipulation. Plus, it’d be amazing to see what kind of dialogue or tricks would come out of this

  • @Abbas-Sofian
    @Abbas-Sofian 4 роки тому +16

    First off: This was a very thorough analysis and examination of Claudia's character and her motives. I liked it a lot!
    Second, I think you've got a good point with the comparison to Azula and a possible redemption. I think she'll fall further down the rabbit hole and do some extreme things but eventually she will be saved by Soren and maybe Callum (I keep this all very simple and loose rn, it's obviously going to be a very long way for Claudia to get there. I don't believe it will happen before the final season).
    I know this is about Claudia but I do have to drift off to Viren a little because of some of my own predictions for these two characters in the following season. I think it's possible that Claudia will become the driving force of these two and Viren will be the one to hesistate and question their path. Why do I believe this might be happening? Because Viren died. A lot of people seem to overlook this but Viren died and was brought back to life: If you look at other shows, books or any kind of fiction the death and following rebirth of a character marks the beginning of big change in said character.
    Viren failed and died, all his work and attempts have crumbled. Now his daughter has brought him back to life. He was obviously disturbed and unsettled by the news he had died and then been revived. And I believe because of this death experience he will go through a big change and look back on his own actions, Aaravos' manipulation and his behavior towards his friends and children. (Now, I'm not going to say he's going to be a goodie here, obviously. But the TDP developers said that Viren WILL be going through quite a journey in S4 and S5 and I'm really excited for it.) It's also going to be just him and Claudia for some time because the TDP developers said that Viren will be without Aaravos' guidance for quite a while since Aaravos is busy morphing in his cocoon. So Viren will finally have time to think for himself again without a tempting voice whispering ideas into his ear.
    So what does that mean exactly? Viren will falter and question the path he has taken. Claudia will see her father, broken and insecure and no longer the confident and clever person she knew. She will be afraid because it's just the two of them; Soren is gone, and Callum, Ezran and all the other humans are out to 'get them' at this point. They're in enemy territory and her father has given up/is doubting himself. So she will have to be the one to take action and make sure that they are safe. She might even start to push Viren and try to convince him that they are in the right. Because admitting that they were wrong would be too much of a moral weight on her mind.
    I'm really hoping it won't happen but I do believe that at some point Aaravos will ditch Viren (because he's seen behind Aaravos' manipulation and no longer wants to pursue his fight against Xadia - and also doesn't want his daughter to be exposed to this useless fight and conflict). Aaravos will reveal himself to Claudia and will start to manipulate her instead. And, because Claudia has already seen Viren crumble before her at this point, Aaravos will drive a wedge between Claudia and her father by revealing that Viren had lied to her about everything. She will be hurt and furious and abandon Viren to leave with Aaravos. And Viren will be left behind to the realization that he fucked up big time and led his own daughter to the path of her own destruction.
    Until, hopefully, Soren sweeps in to pull Claudia out of this dark path she has taken.

    I like Claudia, so part of me wants her redeemed, but when I look at what’s she’s done, I wonder if she’s gone too far. I don’t equate dark magic to killing animals for food. I equate it to killing animals for trophies. Also, dark magic corrupts. Yes, Callum comes back from it, but Callum nearly died in the process and that was from one little worm to save the life of another magical creature.
    Harrow explains it best as a shortcut. We don’t have to take shortcuts. Humans in this world don’t have to use magic to survive. This is an excuse to use the easier (corrupted) route to achieve one’s goals. Viren is killing to do his makeup every morning. Claudia isn’t doing that, but she’s headed there - fast.
    It should also be noted that we now know dark magicians hunted the unicorns to extinction. If hunting animals to extinction is necessary to have enough magic to survive then it’s not a viable option. Claudia has been raised to believe that this kind of killing is okay.
    Can Claudia come back from this. I think yes, but it is soooo much more difficult for her. Imagine what Callum went through multiplied by all the much bigger innocent lives she has taken.

How she will come to this realization is still a mystery, but I think the two things that would play apart in this are soren and rayla. Soren because he's her brother, And Rayla because of her connection to the princes and with what happened to her parents. I would love to see a deep conversation between Rayla and her. The other extreme would be that she goes full blown villainous, pursuing more and more dark magic, the same way her father has changed from king Harrow's childhood friend to an uncaring power hungry monster. The rehabilitation arc would also be very interesting, and one that I don't think we see often in cartoons like these. There are several other options that could happen, like becoming a martyr, but the ones I went over I think are the big ones.

    Also a touch on the thing you mentioned about dark magic: Yes I agree it might not be as inherently evil as the magical creatures make it out to be but it is still wrong in the context of a show where you truly have to understand the nature of the world around you and your place in it to use magic... Calum spends 2 seasons learning this and gains few basic sky spells... Dark Magic skips all of that and thus encourages hasty decision making and taking the quickest option which while not inherently bad can lead to catastrophic results... Also anther thing that the dark magic teaches is to take power from something else, which... which is not the best ideal to work towards unless you want to be a master thief...
    I might not have explained it as well as I would like but the point I am trying to make is that Primal and Dark magics are opposites one teaches you to be patient, reliance on inner strength and to work for your dreams, while the other encourages impatience, taking power for oneself from something else, and taking shortcuts... None are necessarily evil but they are not moral gold either...

All that matters is how far is she willing to go before she crosses a line from which she can not return. You can do some really dark things and still turn back, look at Vader. I don't think Soren will be the primary motivation for turning her back to the light as it where however although he will likely have a major role to play. I think a major turning point is going to be when she realizes Callum did not have the primal stone at the battle. Remember he was on high ground and clearly visible from the battle field. She would likely think he was using the stone but if she finds out that it was destroyed before that point she will realize that Callum is a primal mage and humans can use primal magic. This will give her another path to walk, she just has to chose to walk it.

There's a book series called the Dresden Files, and in it black magic is forbidden because using it will corrupts one's morals. It warps the way you think. Consider what dark magic does to a person's body, I can't help but wonder if it might do something similar to their mind (albeit a lot slower, since Dragon Prince is for a much younger audience). Which is not to say that if this is the case, Claudia won't be redeemed.
