About the video... If we assume the last theory, the question would be WHO killed the king. Possibly the dark elves for sure but I suspect someone else...

Let's be honest. The pip theory is really the only viable theory. The previous theories are there just to be filler to hit the 10 minute mark
Why banning all humans, and why to the West? When did all this even happened? How long ago is the War? Why did the Human wage War just to get back to the East? All these questions left me dumpfounded, only to realize the writers actually are that stupid to not realize it's not enough explanation. The World Building is full of Holes, for crying out loud. I had to wait for so long just ot learn that, despite the apparent peace, it's only 4 months since the Death of the Dragon King.
The power of baby Zym is irrelevant, the Moonshadow elves bound themselves to the mission of avenging Zym's father Thunder, so naturally, Thunder's offsprings can release them of that bind if they choose to.
Zym releases his own binding, not Thunder's, but I had the same thought. But Zym is still considered powerful either way, or at least has the potential to be the strongest of the Storm dragons
@@TheoryPop We're talking about the fact they swore to bring justice. Even though the elves think Thunder got attacked and killed unprovoked he wasn't. He killed 3 Queens that tried to save their folks. Binding for justice may be not valid to strengthen the spell at all.
I honestly think the Moonshadow assassins bindings had the underlying instruction of falling off after the targets they were thinking of most were eliminated. The reason the binding that was on Runaan’s and Rayla’s right wrist fell off was because the body of King Harrow was killed and therefore served it’s purpose to signify the “king’s” death.

To be fair, the humans were trespassing in the first place, the dragon was there to keep humans out of elven lands.
That's the way I thought of it. Since the binding was for vengeance for Zym's death, he was the only one who could free her of it, taking her rescuing and hatching Zym as sufficient penance.
I honestly think it's the pip theory because the riters really know how to handle Chackov's Gun (Reyla's braid come to mind). In this case it's a double-barrel shotgun with both the snake that's never used and Viren asking "No song for the occasion?".
Valid point, the Pip theory seems fairly likely at this point.

Adding to the Pip theory, when we see Callum’s struggle against the evil version of himself (Season 2) King Harrow is on a throne, in chains. This could just be symbolism, and yes, I know Pip actually escaped the palace in season 2, but maybe it represents how King Harrow is so close to his kingdom, still inside of it, yet trapped not only in the birdcage but also in the bird? I dunno, kinda far fetched but whatever.
Though I don't at the moment believe the bird theory, you've drawn an interesting link there! I like your idea that Harrow's appearance in chains could be symbolic of his being trapped somewhere, that's a nice parallel I think!
The binding might not factor in a soul swap since elves find dark magic so revolting. The coins might contain the missing dragon guard (Rayla’s parents)
While the elves do find it revolting, I don't think the magic that forms the binding would ignore it. It's not trying to recognise the magic itself, but the end target. Great point about the coins, I do believe that is entirely possible!
Part of my logic is that a body can be killed. There is no evidence a soul/spirit can be destroyed (unless dark magic is a factor).
True, we don't know if this world has an afterlife, or reincarnation. We don't know what happens to the spirit really!
I think the magic of the binding is only supposed to fulfill whatever mission the Moonshadow assassins have in mind before the initial cutting and attaching to wearers body. In this case, the only mission the elves had in mind was killing the king of Catolis and his heir. Since Harrow or just his body was killed, the binding on Runaan and Rayla’s arms came off because the “king” was slain.
I have always assumed the Pip theory, but didn't think about the fact his son being able to talk to animals..... Would come back around for him to talk to his dad as the bird. Really glad i watched this to imagine that now. Thx

Good video! One note about the Coin Theory: Just because Runaan screamed in pain at the coin spell doesn't mean that Harrow would have done the same. Remember, Viren has a very convenient, rather fast voice-stealing spell that he uses in his very next scene.
Now, this would have required having two or three spells operating at once - both the voice-stealing and coin-transfer, in addition to a likely restraint spell he'd cast on the pissed-off, in-pain, voiceless but still armed Harrow - which we haven't seen yet done in the show and may well be against the "rules" of magic in this world. But it's something to think about until next season!
That is a good point. However, Viren had to have the guards restrain Callum to cast the spell. I think Harrow would have been able to interrupt the spell if Viren had tried casting it on him. And whether or not it's possible to cast multiple spells at once is another question, hopefully to be answered in a later season .

I think the reason why Rayla's bindings came off so easy is that with Zym's death, there was no need nor just reason to kill Ezran- therefore the oath was void and zym could bite it off

Personally, I find the death theory to be the most likely. The Viren and Harrow switch theory is obviously bogus, I find the coin theory to be rather unlikely for various reasons, including that the reason for Runaan's horror with the coins is likely simply Elven disgust of dark magic(dark magic seems to be able to grant it's wielders most if not all abilities granted by the normal primal sources, as well as some entirely new spells that Elves find unnatural even without the essence sucking) , and the Pip theory is on very shaky ground, based on only one concrete piece of evidence, some speculation and one very slim piece that could simply be animal intuition. As Ezran has shown us, animals can see, feel, and understand things a lot better than we give them credit for.
The coin theory is pretty unlikely, I agree. Runaan was most likely horrified by the Elves being trapped in the coins, but this also assumes some of the other Elves survived the battle in the castle and were sealed in the coins. We don't see what happened to them for certain, but it is a possibility. As for the Pip theory, you're correct, it relies on assumptions and leaps in logic. I do think it's possible, but the Death theory, to me, is the most likely!
Dark magic is a pathway to many abilities some consider unnatural
"Pip is Harrow" was the first thing that came to my mind after Virens interaction with the bird. I felt myself varified after pip fled and flyed away.
It’s one of the most popular theories amongst the Dragon Prince community, there’s probably a good reason for that!
I actually thought he might have put Harrow into Pip at first too. But I thought about it. The Moonshadow Elves bound them to kill Harrow and Ezran. We know the Elves did NOT know what Ezran looks like, but that the mark was binding. Which means they had to kill the right person in order for the binding to be ended. Which means that the wrong soul in the right body wouldn't count. It's not based on the body, but the soul.
That’s the idea I’ve been thinking lately. Killing the body, but leaving the spirit alive, doesn’t fulfil their oath!
@@TheoryPop as we don't know how this magic works, could it be possible that the elves /thinking/ they killed him would be enough to fulfil the oath? i feel like the pip theory is very plausible and the first thing that popped into my head when i saw the bird
I would say another point against the "Harrow and Viren swapped bodies" theory is how the souls would switch bodies in the first place. From what Viren said, it sounds like the serpent only stores the souls, and Viren would have used magic to transfer the souls into the other's bodies. If they used the serpent on Harrow and Viren, there wouldn't be anyone to finish the transfer.
Because of this, it may have been Viren's goal when he went to Harrow the last time to switch the souls of Harrow and Pip, since switching with himself wouldn't work without another mage present. Whether that's what happened or not remains to be seen, but because of this I think the Viren and Harrow theory is highly unlikely if not impossible.
That's an excellent point! Claudia would likely have been needed to complete the spell, as Viren would be incapacitated, at least briefly, before the spell could be completed.
That does leave me wondering how Viren was going to sacrifice himself, which is a bit of a flaw in the writing which sucks but I can be appeased if Pip comes back and is Harrow because that is the only thing that makes sense. XD

Haven't seen enough Dragon Prince to have any theories of my own- My little one decided it wasn't for him, so I have seen only the first 2. Nicely done video and maybe when I get a chance I will get into it- have too many binge series on deck and still need to do non-escape tasks that also are piling up!

The Pip theory seems well supported. In any event Ezran talking with Pip will likely reveal what happened the night of the attack, since his testimony can be trusted. The only issue I have with this video is that Reyla's 2nd band around her wrist was not simply removed by a random dragon's bite, but by the justice that it represented. The assassination of Ezran was supposed to be in retribution for killing the egg, by hatching the egg justice is served and the band may then be removed by the creature who was supposed to be killed in the first place.
I think that the Pip theory is highly likely. The creators may have eluded to this theory by the arrow Runaan fires turning into a bird that looks much like Pip.
Also, the way Viren mocks the bird when he appeared to show no interest in him before

But a newborn baby dragon, that hasn’t even been alive for a minute yet, could just.. basically in a “lemme help you with your hat” kind of way.. so fast :/
I think part of it is because that binding was Zym's, the one intended to avenge his 'death,' but with his birth he was able to remove it as the vengeance was no longer needed.

I believe that the soul swapping can trick the ribbon because in season 3 the flower in the lake sank even though runnan's soul was in a coin and he was not actually dead and if it can trick a moonshadow elf's flower it should also be able to trick the ribbon,RIGHT?

The flower isn't completely sunk, as the others are, and the light on top is still glowing. Runaan isn't "dead" as his spirit still lives, so the flower behaves in this weird half-state, kind of sunk but not completely. I think the ribbon would behave in a similar way if Harrow was "dead" but his spirit still lived: the ribbon would maybe loosen but not come off, or change colour but remain bound, some kind of half-state like the flower. I been taking it for granted that there is a probably 90% chance he got put into the bird's body. Because the mage goes into the room with the snake and leaves without it and they make a big deal out of the bird being the kings faithful pet but it hasn't actually ever done anything, plus they didn't show the death, or even him fighting. I would say it might even be too obvious that he put him in the bird.
I always figured Rayla's band came off because the debt was for killing Zim. Zim touching it basically said, "hey, I'm alive. " this would have made it so there was no debt. Although I haven't checked, I don't think Rayla's second band turned red and black.
... or maybe I'm reading to far into it or just remembering it wrong.

We know that Viren has 4 coins, we know Runaan is in one and after season 3 we’re pretty sure Rayla’s parents are in 2 more. But there is one more coin, and Harrow could be in there. However I doubt Harrow isn’t dead since his death was an important arc for character growth, primarily in Callum and Ezran, and having him alive would undo that.
i think the 4th coin is empty and viren had it so he could trap someone else in a coin when he wanted to because he threatens to put rayla inside a coin meaning that he has an empty coin to use.
I believe Viren wanted to swap his body for Harrow, But. Harrows final defiance towards Viren caused him to instantly turn on Harrow and trap him into Pip and will be Ezrans Falcon advisor, maybe Pip was even Harrows advisor because it looks like he has an affinity for animals like Ezran. This has so much potential and you know they are going to deliver something amazing once again!

I strongly encourage people to look up the writing/playwriting/acting concept known as Chekov's Gun. Basically the long and short of it is this: If you hang a gun in full view during act one, it MUST be fired in act 2 (or no later than the final act), or there is NO POINT TO IT BEING THERE.
These writers wrote Avatar: The Last Airbender, one of the most acclaimed well written animated tv shows of all time. Do you really think they would so blatantly incorporate not one, not two, but THREE Chekov's Guns in the same season and NOT FIRE THEM at some point????
Chekov's Gun #1: The Double-headed Soulfang Serpent (that otherwise seemingly never gets used and never comes back in the show).
Chekov's Gun #2: Pip and all otherwise unnecessary scenes involving him such as the one where Viren gloats at him (and later the one where they explicitly show him ESCAPING in Season 2, after we already know Ez can talk to animals.)
Chekov's Gun #3(kind of): Ezran can talk to animals. They spend three whole seasons with him talking to animals.
I strongly believe based on one of the most important story crafting rules in history that the Pip Theory isn't just a theory: it's fact. And with any luck, the Pip gun will be fired in Season 4. (Any later would be REALLY pushing it so I hope they don't push it too far).
The wrist biding could have been fooled by a soul swap, we have to remember that a soul would still be in Harrow’s body, just not his own. The wrist binding could have been like that so Elves would not betray the mission like Rayla’s parents were rumored to do, so both problems can be answered.

Do you have any theories on aavaros? Since aavaros has been able to watch viran through the mirror for a good while now since then took it from the dragon king. And how it’s mentioned that the cube is from aavaros as well it seems like he’s pretty important as well.
Something about the coin theory. It’s all disproven by the fact that it would be loud but Viran used a silencing spell on Callum a few minutes after what happened in the Kings chambers. How do we know he didn’t use the same spell on the King??? Also as for the elves what if they died trying to escape?

That's possible, but not something I necessarily believe. I don't think Harrow knows how to use Dark Magic, and I don't think he'd order the assassination of his sons, but who knows? Maybe!
the dragon ripping it off is symbolic the pac being a prince for a prince, but the dragon prince is alive
I am beyond baffled how anyone could have had any of those theories other than the Pip one.

here's a little more speculation for the "pip" theory. wouldn't harrow hear the battle going on outside his chambers? wouldn't he join the fray? after all, Harrow said himself that he would NOT die a coward. waiting for your soldiers to get mowed down doesn't seem very kingly. second, when Viren comes out of the chambers right before the said battle, there's one thing he doesn't have coming out that he had going in, the soul fang serpent. why? Honestly, he probably just left it in there. But at the same time, you NEVER see that serpent again. so it was probably disposed of after the whole switcheroo. (it's circumstantial I know but it still could point that direction)
That's awful with that joke... but the coin theory is unlikely since I have a head-canon that the coin spell is a fate worse than death; I have a feeling that without the soul, the body would wither away into an empty husk that disintegrate to dust with a single touch (though that part would be somewhat far-fetched, but if you consider what happened to the butterfly in the beginning of episode 5...) I personally think that he did used the serpent to switch the king and the bird, but that's just me.
Yeah, I agree with the coin sealing the soul without the body. I think right now, the most likely theory is the bird.

6:30 that is the worst possible explanation. Viren is dead set on having the princes killed so he can usurp the throne. If it was really Harrow in Viren's body that would never be the case. If he is alive at all he was most likely soul swapped with Pip.
Also, if you haven't noticed, Viren has a highly treacherous nature with one scene including him setting a trap that kills all the throne room guards.
From what we've seen of Viren so far, he is shown to be manipulative, arrogant, power hungry, and possibly even paranoid though that last one could be an act to inspire fear in the other humans and cause them to genocide the elves.
You’re right, that’s why I immediately pointed out some of the flaws in the theory, including that Harrow would never order the death of his sons. Pip remains the most likely Soul Swap recipient.
Viren’s manipulative and treacherous nature has been revealed even further in Season 2, which this theory was written before the release of the latest episodes, so I couldn’t reference them when referring to Viren’s character. But with the additional information, it would certainly allow for additional insights into Viren’s actions in Season 1.

I think most people are hoping the Pip theory is true!
It could be likely that the bindings were around way before dark magic and dark magic must have evolved and being separated from humans the must not have know they could switch spirits.

i dont understand how king harrow was killed but all his guards who were standing outside his door prepared to defend him until the death almost all escaped without harm....
The moonshadow assassins I think only kill when absolutely necessary. When undertaking the binding ritual, Runaan said they do not take life lightly. Perhaps they tried to just incapacitate the guards without killing them, where they could.
Who said the guards escaped unharmed? The only ones we saw on the balcony were Virin, Soren, Claudia, and a few soldiers who may have been called up after the attack was underway.
Virren did have silence spell. He used it on callum right before so he wouldn't scream
He did, but I wonder how many "charges" that spell component has before it's used up? If he'd used the silence spell on Harrow before, Harrow's voice would still be in that claw/foot/thing. Callum's voice returned when Viren lost concentration on the spell and dropped the component, so shouldn't Harrow's voice have also returned?
You know, unless Viren had two of those spell components. Which is entirely likely!
5:30 well we know in season 3 that raylas parents were put into coin's, and that after their battle everyone assumed they had abandoned the egg, which probabally means they (or their bodies) were nowhere to be found. I think Runans body does disappear after the coin trick.
Its also possible that Runan could tell that something was up when he found and killed the king but wasn't sure what. Seeing virens coins gave him his answer and effected his reaction. Probabally not tho, especially after seeing your other video about it (unless maybe the binds loose when the arrow is launched instead of when they die? That's also far fetched)
Viren killed him. 100%. There's no way to guarantee the assassins would be successfull, so Viren did him dirty in his room. Whether his soul is in a coin, or transferred to the bird, Viren is a killer.
With how Viren has developed over the 3 seasons, it wouldn’t surprise me if this was the action that started his descent into “villainy.” I can see this being the case.
I need to go rewatch Season 3 now and see if Ezran is ever in the same room as Pip...

If this theory about Pip is true, it means the king couldn't fight the elves that came for him, and since only 1 elf survived, and just barely; It means that the King was not in as much danger as they all believed. The king, as probably a better than average fighter himself, would have made all the difference to killing the last assassin.

The "Veron and Harrow Through" may not be rite because of his voice and Harrow can not do Dark Magic and Veron does dark magic after he leaves King Harrow's room.

There's a fairly large portion of the fan base that still believes the Pip theory, but I tend to agree, I don't think Harrow is in the bird.
That's actually evidence in favor of the Pip theory.
I actually hope King Herro is gone because it will be rutted in reality we are all going to die and one day lose a love ones to old age or other wise.
I think it could have a deeper impact on the princes if their father is truly gone, and not just in the body of a bird.

I personally believe that Viren murdered King Harrow, b/c he obviously wants the throne desperately & wants to start a war to distract everyone from his underlying scheme. Also, Viren was THE LAST person to see the King alive. & on that day, he & Harrow had a heated argument. So idk
Viren wants the throne because he believes he is the right person to save Katolis and the human kingdoms from the threat of Xadia. If he had killed Harrow himself, I think the binding on the Moonshadow elves would have been removed sooner, before their attack started.
@@TheoryPop tru. I didn't think about that. I was pretty disappointed that we didn't get to see a whole lot of the king tho. I feel like he'd make his mark as a character, which he already did, but I hated how it was cut so short. Maybe it'll be explained in S2?So hopefully he'll make a come back in season 2. I haven't had the chance to watch S2 yet unfortunately. College life, parenting & work. Ugh. LoL
I agree that Harrow didn’t get enough screen time and focus in season 1!
Honestly, I don't feel Viren wants the throne, he just wants the "right" person on the throne. A strong warrior king/queen able to unite the realm, and defeat the "Evil" Xadia. That is why he was so genuine about letting the princes' aunt General Amaya rule instead. An elf slaying warlord is exactly the kind of leader he believes the kingdom needs.
What he doesn't want is two "soft" princes running the country in its most vulnerable time in history. He is genuinely terrified of what he sees as an inevitable war with Xadia.

I believe that Viren tried to exchange his soul with king soul. However, he was not entirely successful, so a mixture of Viren and Harrow souls occupies Viren body. Viren behaviour changed dramatically after the night.
