It's sadly because the MGS games were released during a time when video games were still "proving" it's as works of art. I don't recall voice acting being noticed or taken as seriously as it is today in gaming(Troy Baker as Joel, Madds in Death Stranding etc). I think if the MGS games were released today, Solidus Snake would easily be hailed as a remarkable achievement in voice performance. Unless we get a remake...........

Graphics don't "hold up" Aesthetics do. When you think a game from your childhood "didn't age well" the phrasing suggests something about the game changed over the years, when in reality it was you who changed, because that crappy game you played as a child still looked terrible then, you were just a child, and had an under developed taste of a child, and that was probably the best looking game you had ever seen at that time. Since then you've played more games and formed a more complete opinion. Conversely, when a game looks good after time passes, it's because it had artistic merit to begin with. People have a habit of conflating art and technology in games, thinking the newest graphical techniques make something "look better" but in 5 years that game that looked like "real life" now looks awful, because it had no real aesthetic quality. It;s not cutting edge technology that makes a game look good, that is just a tool for an artist to create an aesthetic. Basically, thats why among other things, MGS1 "holds up" and Twin Snakes doesn't. The original games had an artistic vision behind them, a consistent, purposeful aesthetic that each one was aiming to achieve. Twin Snakes was based solely on new flashy tech, and had WAY too many cooks in the kitchen. The aesthetic of this game was definitely informed by games of the time, like FFX and Ico, where there was a lot of emphasis on bringing emotion with facial expressions, something that was not possible on PS1. The cinematography was still the same Kojima style, but now with more than just simple gestures to express character emotions. I also get the sense that they used relatively saturated colors and stylish UIs to really give that futuristic, almost virtual reality feeling to the whole thing, like it was almost trying to walk the line between looking "realistic" and "video gamey" on purpose, to give that sense that it was all a simulation. The people look detailed and (at least those who aren't part of the simulation like the soldiers, Plisskin, Stillman Otacon, etc) have designs that look grounded in reality, while the Big Shell looks almost like some sort of training facility rather than a real place, with relatively low detail on everything, and bright colors (granted this also likely saved polygons so that the people COULD be more detailed). I remember a lot of Big Shell feeling almost like some sort of Laser Tag arena to me rather than a real place, which makes a lot of sense once you know the truth. So it was designed on purpose to look a certain way, which is why it "holds up"

He said that him along with the boss, liquid and solidus methods where different but whey where all fighting to free themselves from countries, governments, systems etc. and they where trapped on their own minds as he call it, a "liberty cage" Now ask yourself. what will it be the cost of solidus "dream" or better put, how many lives will it take. I would’ve recoded the Armstrong’s speech through the entire fight and leaked to counter against his plan with the video’s of the story about the World Marshall and Desperado connection for making child cyborg soldiers. I would’ve created a new SOP with an AI that sacrificed itself to stop from transmitting a fake nuclear attack on America.
