The line's actually a mistranslation. A more accurate way of rendering it is "cutting edge technology can imitate magic or the supernatural". MGS2, whole having a prescient message, is sadly riddled with lines like this.
The voice actor for Shalashaska did a phenomenal job...
I think all 3 actors played Ocelot well. Zimmerman played a crazy and smart Ocelot, Keaton played a childish Ocelot and Baker played a loyal and serious Ocelot

Yeah, they all did a good job voicing Ocelot. No complaints here. But I have to say Pat Zimmerman stands out above the rest.
I've met Pat. He's a little salty about V. I love Troy. But replacing both iconic voices in the same game was a ginormous miss step. And also just to make sure we're all on the same page... Fuck Huey.

@@miimiibeschde4818 the supernaturals were killed in Solid’s 1 & 3 by Solid and the original Naked. Ocelot is an exception due to hypnotherapy into obtaining Liquid’s personality. His replaced arm was normal; it was never magic. He thought he was the ghost of Liquid.

No. That’s just one layer. In truth, that’s just what the patriots told ocelot was going on. In truth, the projects name was Selection for Societal Sanity and had an even more fucked up goal. Just take a look at the last few codec convos with the colonel AI.

Despite the Patriots real S3 plan, you can't tell me Liquid Ocelot didn't secure his Solid Snake Simulation 2.0 (Raiden patch) kernel. MGS 4 could've been so much better if that became a plot point instead of nano-machines.

“Given the right situation, the right story, any man can be shaped into Snake." is unbelievably profound for the series when you think about how many "Snakes" there have been, and how their purpose has all been to free the world from the Patriot's control. The "Snake" isn't a person: it's a concept. Ocelot's concept. Perfected in MGS2.
Then, think about Ocelot's role. Every single game he's been pulling the strings in the background to help complete the missions: whether it's ending the Philosophers, or the Patriots. The MGS series is better described as Ocelot's story above all others: revenge against those unseen forces dictating the world's events, trying to free the world from their control. Both of his parents were killed on the direct orders of the Philosophers, then his idol Big Boss betrayed by the Patriots that took their place. Ocelot was simultaneously the primary protagonist *and* antagonist.
Then MGS4: the culmination of his plan. All the "true Snakes" he'd help to create - Big Boss, Solid, Raiden - working together to their primary purpose of ending the Patriots and rid their control, whether they realised it or not. His only miscalculation was assuming that the world would be plunged into chaos, all-out war where the strongest (the soldiers) survive, in effect creating Big Boss' Outer Heaven. He didn't account for the non-combatants being the ones to truly save the world: Otacon, Naomi, and Sunny, who prevented the total shutdown of all systems with their worm. He himself blinded by his life in war and conflict, corrupting his worldview and making his goal of ridding the world of the influence of the elite a dangerous one, one that would be completed at the expense of humanity.
I firmly believe that Ocelot is the single greatest character ever created, in any fiction.
Yeah, he's on my top five list. Not just for the role he plays in the storyline, but also because I just love how cunning and sneaky he is. He was the ONE character in the franchise that always knew everything and got away with everything.

That wasn't really liquid. Ocelot used his nanomachines and psychosis to basically make himself think he was really liquid. His claim was that snake was the only one that could free him but ocelot orchestrated the entire thing
In mgs2, liquid is possessing him but in mgs4 he used the experience to his advantage@@tuff3jay
