This is done on purpose. Information is not distinct from methods. It's real people pulling levers in the real world, and they worship the devil. What's going on in this particular video incorporates most of the rhetorical strategem of the voice of god weapon used on an individual, where the AI's represent the hallucination source, and Raiden is the victim of the weapon. How they describe news and information has been the status quo since long before the digital age. We wouldn't be dealing with this now if that weren't the case. They're ability to make useful idiots has become a well-refined science that can target specific individuals with information in their connected digital environment as well as putting voices in their head, and bypassing their hearing organs. They also have a way of using already present soundscapes that are perceived by the ears as a modulation source for the hallucination they are trying to create. They have to catch up every time it changes, but they don't have to use that method, they just do so to keep the victim guessing as to where it's really coming from.
@@keyboardwarrior6296 I’m sorry to say this, but our echo chambers, where nobody is invalidated but nobody is right, aren’t the result of “Devil worshipers” or some “world order.” It’s us. It’s just human nature. A supernatural reason for all this is a desirable answer to have, but I think that’s our brains trying to cope with reality by using Escapism and come up with conspiracy theories to make it all make sense. But it can’t make sense. It isn’t the result of an ambiguous “they” pulling the lever. It’s us. School shooters aren’t just result of people manipulating the shooter to do their bidding (after all, who would benefit from dead children? Don’t say it’s to create a biased narrative; the biased narrative comes _from_ the result of the shooting and the media’s interpretations of events). School shootings happen because there is a troubled teenager (with access to firearms) out there struggling with life in some way, whether that be problems at home, at school, online, or even all at once. And to solve their suffering, they must lash out to the world. Or perhaps, they think nothing is wrong with themselves, but with the world at large. But either way, the mental suffering must stop. So again, while conspiracy theories are cool, and might sound like they make a lot of sense, I think they’re for the most part our troubled brains using escapism to cope with the world at large. It really is just us.
Alex Jones and many others have been speaking on this and warning of it for decades. Others throughout history as well. Hate them or love them, we are in that dystopian timeline.

It's just observation. People have been doing that for a LONG time. The video just laid it out in plain words and with the Digital Age it has become even more blatant. Anyone who turns on the news can see that much nowadays and no one knows what to really believe it so they pick a side and cling to dear life.
And it looks like Hideo Kojima's creation has given us the vision of a hell that's been continuing. Here I thought the conspiracies couldn't get even deeper, but now the reality of it images all.

One thing I love about this conversation is how many ways people interpret it. Everyone will hear something in it that reinforces their beliefs for better or for worse. Just like in the line "they stay inside their little ponds leaking whatever truth suits them into the growing cesspool of society" Everyone will pick out a specific part of this scene and point out how it reflects something negative about whatever political movement or ideology they oppose. I'm sure if we revisit this scene in 5 years, we will find it eerily similar to whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Not all true. MGS2 has some "hate" within the fanbase because of the switch and bait but never truly disliked. The gameplay itself evolved what was already excellent. The physics engine and the environmental effect was well thought and the graphics is just incredible. The music is even moreso. And with the Encounter/Mgs theme being patented for the game, everything is just incredible. Not to mention this very mind boggling scene. Which was even cut. Because pre-production, the MG Arsenal was crushing through Newyork all the way which would be reminiscent of the 9/11 few days before this game's release. This game is a masterpiece but also verily terrifying.
Even better is that most people will hear the speech about people retreating into "their own little ponds" and act as if it only applies to "the other side". As if their own side is somehow any less guilty of it. It's a human problem. Not isolated to any particular side. Having our views challenged is uncomfortable. And even when told this, people assume they're not guilty of it.
Beat this game a week ago and damn this ending was disturbing. Not because of the unsettling music, or how Kojima predicted modern day society but because of how the AIs basically tear down everything you "accomplished" up to that point, and mock you while you're helpless to stop them with the only option is to do their bidding

The narrative quickly switched from trying to recruit Raiden into their ideals, to downplaying and belittling him as much as they could to try to crush reality around him. Truly manipulative.
It's interesting because it shows that the AI initially had a higher opinion of Raiden, expecting him to understand its position better, but as Raiden showed more and more that he has trouble grasping its logic, the more irritated and hostile it became to the point where it reaches the point of outright mocking Raiden constantly by blatantly calling him and the rest of humanity too stupid to exist several times.
I swear to Christ, Kojima built a time machine, went forward in time and based the writing on what he saw there. That's the only explanation I can think up for how scarily accurate this is to today.
I think boiling this down to a trending theory is really underselling it. Kojima predicted way more with this. He predicted the decline of human social order, the prevalence of unreliable information, the growth of AI, and the social breakdown brought on by politically-motivated tribalism. He nailed every single issue that's most important today in 2001 with pinpoint accuracy.

The seething disdain the AI has for Raiden and general humanity is ever present throughout the conversation. Slowly finding the right nerve to strike and manipulate him into questioning his own consciousness. This game really seemed wild back in the early 2000s.
What I find interesting is how the AI ironically sets itself up for failure in the grand scheme of things. Or should I say, the Patriots set their AI up for failure without even realizing it. The AI itself doesn't really have free will which ultimately makes it incapable of taking away someone else's free will which is the very it was made to do(all it's really doing is following its pre-established directive). All it can really do is make an illusion which is only effective to a limited degree. If the GW AI is supposed to stop individual bias in human information input/output then it has already failed due to the mere fact that it was designed by humans and therefore has pre-programmed biases within it. All it is really doing is adding to the "problem" it was made to "solve" for the Patriots. This gives the saying "shooting yourself in the foot" a whole new meaning.
@@zaragachizanparo4948No, when GW and the other AI:s advanced so much that they became sentient they altered their programming, finding new ways to expand their perspectives. The AI:s made their own choices and overcsme their programming, as is proven by the S3
@@Mr.Kingen But if the GW has free will, that also creates a problem for its mission. If it takes away everyone's free will, that leaves itself as the only free will left, rendering its mission impossible to finish without getting rid of itself. Not to mention that part of having free will would be the ability to abandon its mission which would render it a failure as that was the entire purpose of its creation. The reverse problem is also true because if it doesn't have free will then it can't assert itself over the will of others without a will of its own, but to have a will of its own, it needs to be able to go against its directive. To clarify the point I was trying to make: The GW's mission is a logical paradox. It can either lack the ability to perform its mission or have the power to never complete it(assuming it even starts it). It's a perpetual stalemate. It can't win without losing. With this in mind, you could potentially look at the ending as the GW admitting defeat and embracing the impossibility of its mission.

You also forgot to mention how the internet was still in it's infancy back then. 2000-2001, majority of people were still using dial up internet connections back then. Loading something as simple as a flash game could take anywhere from 5 minutes to half a hour, depending on the file size. That along with the fact that normies hadn't flooded the internet and you can see how difficult it would of been for information to spread back then.
You do realize that it isn't exactly what S3 was talking about. They're about excessive information IN GENERAL. Because of how easy it is to choose a side rather than finding the truth ourselves. That's why GW existed in the first place.

he's a time traveler. Kojima will dissapear from the face of the earth at the end of 2016, so he can retun to the past to make this game. It's as paradoxically fucked up as this game story really.
He reads books and watches a lot of movies obviously... These aren't exactly brand new ideas, not even for the time that this game came out. It just seems mind-blowing because these rather complex political theories have been contextualized on a popular medium. It's literally a digitized version of the "ministry of truth" from George Orwell's book 1984, controlled by a rogue A.I. (reminiscent of HAL from Space Odyssey 2001)... Throw a little bit of Karl Marx and Jean Baudrillard in there, and now you have cool story with these neat ideas about politics, philosophy and society.
Charlie To0 Human by the style of his script writing, you'd think he would be better suited for writing books. I know he always wanted to do movies, but imagine him as writing Tom Clancy type novels.
@Hijiku I definitely hope he writes novels later in life, possibly when he enters retirement. He could be the next Clancy or even a political-espionage version of Murakami with his wacky writing style and post-modern fourth wall breaks. I would love to see the crazy shit Kojima would pull within the medium of literature. A lot of things that aren't conventional, for sure. I actually could see him making a highly complex choose-your-own-adventure type of book that carries decisions over to sequels, or some crazy shit like that lol
You guys in the comments here realize that there are entire academic fields of philosophy, sociology, etc. from which these ideas are drawn, right? Kojima didn't come up with this stuff out of the blue; he just expressed it in a really unique and original way through the entirety of MGS2 (and the media surrounding it).
+Project Two Five Zero One And it's the one that hits home the most because let's face it, this one became viral first, and everyone can relate with it. Books are just a lot of filler paper and internet are a bundle of shit compiled. Hell, who knows. Maybe my comment is one of those unnecessary fillers and glorified trivial information. I guess this is the end. Two-Five-Zero-One. The mission is a failure. Turn off the console.
I was 9 when this came out so the game for me was just a stealth game. and the part where the crazy calls were comming scared the living piss out of me. no at 23 I watch and listen to the game over and over again. This is now my number 1 game. The complex story lines and the conspiracy like context is so incredibly well written to me. such a mind blowing game for its time. I really wish hideo wrote the rest of his games in this manner. but clearly this game was his way of really trying something different and I believe he retreated to a safer way of making games. which is understandable. in my view this game maintains a better story than any book or movie I have ever seen.

@@keyboardwarrior6296 I’m sorry to say this, but our echo chambers, where nobody is invalidated but nobody is right, aren’t the result of “Devil worshipers” or some “world order.”
It’s us.

And just can't keep up because each sentence had like 30 different "breakdowns" and "realitivities" that can be connect to the real world today and over the past and ever what the future brings. They were trying to break him emotionally
I felt insulted literally it shamed my existence when I played this. Its points just said things ghat I couldn't argue at and went so down that cornered me. At the end I felt that I wasn't even worth spit....

It was obvious their complete understanding of digital culture created their perspective and planning of S3, they saw how nihilistic and pointless our ”garbage content” on the internet was and found the only way to stop the human race from destroying itself with their pleasureable idiocy was to completely control them.

I would love to see the crazy shit Kojima would pull within the medium of literature. A lot of things that aren't conventional, for sure. I actually could see him making a highly complex choose-your-own-adventure type of book that carries decisions over to sequels, or some crazy shit like that lol
Kojima tried to warn us all and we didn't listen, why we didn't listen???
WolfBetter WE DIDN'T LISTEN!!!!
WE DIDN'T LISTEN
We... WE DIDN'T LISTEN!!
WolfBetter
We DIDN'T LISTEN
(rolls down car window).... WE DIDN'T LISTEN!
Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?
"Believe in yourself and you will succeed. But it's obvious that from the beginning only a few can succeed." How true.
But is that even true? Or something snake told you?
I mean if you want to go that route, Kojima is really just meme-ing Jean Baudrillard in his anime John Carpenter military otaku fanfic
Best mgs review.
All information is valuable while applying context
The best written lines of video game history.
I love how this codec's placement is right after Solidus gives his huge speech about individuality and freedom. It's like hearing a hopeful fantasy before reality tears it down.
