@@DeanofMachines not a problem, as I’m mainly a Volvo guy anyway. Your channel should be way bigger. It’s honestly inspired me to want a 122 even more than I already did. I brought 244GL Demo in 1981 with B-21F enginem the egomic designed was outstanding and safe car and safe my life from crash. My problem was the maintiance parts was 3 times expensive and very shot live. Everythings was OEM made in Sweden and no aftermarket except body parts for body and muffer shock and strut wheel from Taiwan.
Unfortunately, this is the way things are. It's easy to manufacture stuff where it's cheap because companies need to be a profitable business. Unfortunately for us, we love 40 year old cars that are only popular in some circles. Thanks for watching!
I totaly understand that the 240 has grown on you both! I’am like you more a estate/wagon guy, but i dig it! And I’am still amazed how good this 240 is! And again all the best for 2024!
I just found you! So happy to see all those old Volvos. My first was a 90 740 Turbo. Then a 86 740 GLE that I still have. Then a 98 V70 (need space I'm a drummer), and now a 2001 V70. I'd be dead in the water without Voluparts in Atlanta. I'm in Kennesaw. Enjoying your channel!
Thanks to the mystery of algorythm, I stumbled upon your channel. 20 years ago I bought a 245 diesel with 570000km. My kids loved the third seat row and the sound. It was slow, but it was so much fun to drive. Currently I am trying to fix my 23 year old V70 ( front axle, engine mount and transmission ). Welcome to the channel!! Many many years ago, I worked at a company that would buy wrecked, newer(at the time) Volvos and part them out. Hi from the UK 👋 Just found your channel and instantly hit the subscribe button. Been driving 240s for the last 25yr and still have a 240 as my daily driver. Awesome cars. It’s great to find a You tuber working on these things as they deserve to be kept on the road. Looking forward to more 240 shenanigans and Happy New Year from across the pond 🎉👍
Good for you buddy wait and see what they do as well .. its very entertaining .. some of the shit he gets him self into is hilarious .. but one of the best on here
The 240 GL is a very nice project car. The body looks pretty good... Those early eighties 240 GL, GLT and Turbo models are the desired ones... But, like you said, the best, the prettiest and the funest Volvo on your channel is with no hesitation the 122S Amazon. Seeing more of your Volvo stuff in 2024 would be great !!! Love to watch it !!

I heard about you from a friend so I decided to check out and I’m glad I did because I absolutely love Volvo content especially older Volvos! I myself have two 240’s.
The undercarriage on that Volvo is really good, you never se an old Volvo in Sweden so clean that not being restored. Keep up the good work, greetings from Sweden..
I have now seen it all. A red gas can strapped to the top of a Volvo going down the road. Plus a Maine drinking glass. UA-cam is loaded with will it run and drive videos. You set yourself apart with humor, creativity and determination. That is on great looking Volvo. I always liked Volvo’s but found them a bit stodgy. I recently traded a C7 Corvette for a 2021 T5 Momentum Blacked out Grill and door trim. I don’t miss the Corvette at all. Should have gone for a T6. Great channel.
Loving the channel Dean, your content is awesome and your very genuine, my Dad loves Volvos he’s 88 now, he couldn’t always afford them, the 240 was an icon of his, all the best for 2024 my friend
Hey, new year, new money pits am i rite?! Love to see you got another brick, dean. Excited to see you fix up your swed sleds and hope for good fortune or fun times for you, your wife, and your fleet. To be honest, i too am about start one or two projects of my own so its fun to watch. Much love from The Milkman from Missouri!
Cut the plastic nozzle closer to the thread connection. The outlet hole will be bigger. Less resistance to flow. btw. I almost made a comment about having too many Volvos. But in truth I am jealous. I wish I could acquire as many Volvos as you have. You're having too much fun.
We definitely have too many. LOL We do try to have fun around here. I will try cutting the nozzle bigger. I want to pressure wash the car and see if water enters. If it does, round two begins!!
Very well done getting the 240 running. Liked the creativity with just installing a carburetor to get it going. Wasn't aware these model years used biodegradable wiring. Could explain why my '86 740 has had wires randomly become brittle. I just assumed it was caused by chemicals like WD-40. Perhaps I should look into if a new wiring harness is available. On my '58 Amazon, the wiring is in better condition. The insulation does not crumble and fall off. Regardless, I wish you a happy new year and looking forward to the continuation of the various projects.
Happy New Year Togst!! The 740s are another model with the same wiring issues. It’s pretty terrible! The 67 Amazon, it was in the woods 35 years and the wiring is much nicer!!
My -93 is almost to perfect. Looking for troubles. Like the noisy fan ('hay barn fan'). Here in Sweden I've understand that a rather common mod is to transplant a 940 electrical piece. That is my mission now. Sorry to see all those wiring issues on your latest. That is a problem, due to age, that we can't control. Keep on insulating!
Fun fact In 1959, the Volvo engineer Nils Bohlin developed the modern three-point seat belt. Although the design was patented, the company decided the patent was to be left open, making it available to all vehicle manufacturers to use for free That was just something I learned about seat belts a while ago I thought that was pretty cool
Love the channel! Just as a note. That rear window is going to leak. You have to cut that tube of caulk bigger and lay a bead that seems like it would almost to too much. If you watch a few windshield install videos you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
19:47 isn't that where the brake booster pipe goes? My '89 Saab 900 with carb has that kind place in the intake manifold for the brake booster line to go. Would it be same on that 240?
Make thr hole on the nozzle for the urethane bigger and you won't struggle to get it out. Also leaving it in direct sunlight before use helps. Or leave tube sealed and put in a bucket of hot water.
The in tank pump in my 940 failed. Took ages for me to figure it out. In fact I was not sure what the problem was. I just decided to start at the beginning and go through the whole system. So I was lucky that it was the in tank pump because it was the first random thing I fixed. I can't describe how good it felt when the engine fired after about 5 whole minutes of cranking.
We had an issue with the red turbo wagon where I chased my tail for months. Ecu power wire would cut out when cranking. But then also the inline pump bit the bullet, then the fpr was leaking internally then the used inline pump I installed failed so it got a brand new pump under the car THEN the pump died in my daily, the silver wagon!! So the new pump from the red wagon went into the silver wagon and the red wagon got a single in tank walbro 255
So, you've become an expert on Volvo fuel pumps. lol. That is necessary if you're going to run as many 240s as you have. Happy New Year.@@DeanofMachines

Just found your channel and this video 😊👌🏻 As a Swede 🇸🇪 it's wonderful to see you putting this beauty on the road again! 💪🏻 Do you know why it has the "CZ" sticker? This would suggest it was originally sold in Czechia, Europe.
Welcome to the channel! Sometimes people in the USA put that version of the white sticker, just to show their heritage. I do not know the actual reason this car has the sticker.
Dean, you're easily the funniest dude i follow in youtube 😂 And of course you have grown to like the car, and it staying 🤣🤣🤣 You might have a impulsive volvo collecting problem mate 😂😂😂 Love your stuff, keep doing this, thumbs up!!! Happy new year!
Het Dean! Thank you for this fantastic episode! I've been waiting for it all christmas holidays😂. So much fun! Pure 240 shenanigans! I was working on my 240 today too. What a great way to end the year😂. Happy new year to you guys! So good to see your channel growing!🎉❤
You and me both my friend! This car took a few different directions which pushed the upload schedule a little bit. Thankfully I think we have a solid direction!
That carb kit is from Pierce Manifolds. It's just a carb and intake. You are left to figure out all of the connections on your own. The carb is a Weber 32/36 DGV. I am very familiar with these carbs and they are great when you just want something to work.
The B20 of the Amazon and 140's start all the time. They can sit for half a year and I can still start my Amazon up (when gas has been pumped to the carb) when freezing.... I even used it to 'jump start' a Nissan Leaf with a dead 12V once 😂
Were many of the cars in that lot from the Czech Republic? (CZ sticker) I'm curious how it ended up in your neck of the woods. Edit: Watching the video and learning. Now I'm curious why it has a CZ sticker.
Are you still running the stock ignition /distributor? I'm considering carb swapping for similar wiring bogus but everyone seems to say I need points ignition... very cool to see it run and drive!
Its still the factory ecu and distributor. The EFI stuff will allow the car to run much better if you can manage. Dave Barton has a wiring harness replacement if thats your issue, he also has conversion harnesses to update to later electronics or turbo your early 240 with later electronics
@@DeanofMachines I can see why.....if I were to have 1, my government would charge me a yearly tax of between £300 and £400 for the pleasure of driving it on the road Was looking at a V50 the other day and was like....hmmmmm🤔
Heating the window urethane in a 200 degree toaster oven for 30-45 minutes helps A LOT. Also, expect a new tool you need to arrive when ai get a chance to send it.
I believe the stainless window moldings are pretty rare. I don't know if it was 83/84 GL trim level only option. Honestly, I don't ever recall seeing it anywhere.
My friend, I think you are the only person I've ever connected with that said good things about the 2.8 V6. 😂😂 I'm happy to hear you had a great experience with it lol.
Excellent pacing and editing on this one fam, Hooked all the way through. I'm exceptionally happy with it. Also, do you want me to send you some not pants on head jerry can spouts?
So i see now that I was a little misstaken about the year of this car, because I see that you have the new dashboard that came in 1981, someone just swapped for the 1980 or older look on the front, I see some people do that. so I apologize if I made you confused with my statement about the year of that car being made, I totally missed that dashboard in the last video for some reason, I thought I saw the old dashboard from the 1980 or older 240´s. Thanks..
I don't know why UA-cam has waited so long to introduce us. Instantly subscribed. Volvo heaven. Happy New Year to you and your sweet wife.

Thank you for the love!!!
Hell yeah I love the progress
Hell yeah buddy!!
i love old volvos!!!! SO good looking!!!
Welcome to the channel! We have many Volvos!
@@DeanofMachines Ok, didn't know that 😊👌🏻 Great job with the cars. You got yourself a new follower 👌🏻
@@ParFektion Thank you! Happy to have you here. I try to stay active in the comments and across this platform all together.
Dean, you're easily the funniest dude i follow in youtube 😂
And of course you have grown to like the car, and it staying 🤣🤣🤣
You might have a impulsive volvo collecting problem mate 😂😂😂
Love your stuff, keep doing this, thumbs up!!!
Happy new year!
From one short guy to another, you almost need a step ladder to ingress and egress your tow pig. Great video.
I just get a good run at it and hop in!
@@DeanofMachines improvise, adapt, overcome.
Also, happy new year!!!
@@DeanofMachines oh man. It Worth the wait!😀
What kind of intake and carb? Runs better than the pierburg we have here in sweden when its a carb model?? I think people here put weber on.
That carb kit is from Pierce Manifolds. It's just a carb and intake. You are left to figure out all of the connections on your own. The carb is a Weber 32/36 DGV. I am very familiar with these carbs and they are great when you just want something to work.
i love old volvos and watching this video has convinced me not to even attempt to do what you do great channel just subscribed
Its easier when you have 2 parts cars laying around…
Just found this channel. New subscriber!!!
Welcome to the party!!
The B20 of the Amazon and 140's start all the time.
They can sit for half a year and I can still start my Amazon up (when gas has been pumped to the carb) when freezing.... I even used it to 'jump start' a Nissan Leaf with a dead 12V once 😂
My Amazon is the best starting car I have!
Were many of the cars in that lot from the Czech Republic? (CZ sticker) I'm curious how it ended up in your neck of the woods. Edit: Watching the video and learning. Now I'm curious why it has a CZ sticker.
Someone somewhere thought the CZ was a great idea!
New subscriber here. Glad to have found your channel.
Make that two of us! Happy to have you! Welcome aboard.
If I missed I apologize what’s the wheel set up you’re running? Great vid
Hi Jake! We our most recent video goes through the steel wheels and others. The wheels are Ford Maverick(2022 2023) steel wheels.
PHOTOBOMBED! 🤣 Sorry about that!!
All good! Lol
I really want a Volvo in my life now!!!
Its great fun! Can recommend!
@@DeanofMachines I can see why.....if I were to have 1, my government would charge me a yearly tax of between £300 and £400 for the pleasure of driving it on the road
Was looking at a V50 the other day and was like....hmmmmm🤔
Heating the window urethane in a 200 degree toaster oven for 30-45 minutes helps A LOT. Also, expect a new tool you need to arrive when ai get a chance to send it.
I already got yelled at for putting the new rubber exhaust hangers in the microwave... New tools you say? Bring it on!!
@@DeanofMachines Put it in the toaster oven before you puncture the tube and there is no smell. Also use a sharpened 1/2” bolt to puncture it.
Nice video! And nice car too. You should have put the kitt in warm water first.
You might be right!
You're very knowledgeable just earnt a new sub!
Welcome to the channel my friend!! Hope to see you around.
It's "The immortal brick". I'd dare say most people were surprised it DIDN'T run on the first try
It didn't run due to no fuel/fuel pumps and a destroyed gas tank. Not to mention the dreaded biodegradable wiring.
@@DeanofMachines such a shame plastic has become even more common since.
@@wilhelmtheconquerer6214 Yeah, these cars are built very well, very solid.
I love my volvo v70 2.4 called vera ❤ so I watch anything volvo great job mate keep up thr content
Thanks for the love! Happy to share my hobby with everyone
Interesting trim on the Doors and under the window you changed, never seen that here.
I believe the stainless window moldings are pretty rare. I don't know if it was 83/84 GL trim level only option. Honestly, I don't ever recall seeing it anywhere.
I had the 1982 volvo 264gle v6 2.8 peugeot engine, best car that Switzerland 🇨🇭 ever build and designed. Apart from the fuel economy of 16mpg.
Thanks bud!
You know, i think I would miss the struggle and disastrous mess if you sent that my way lol
Those big steelies look rad. Are they FWD wheels with spacers or something?
The are fwd with spacers. Im still working out specifics and will have a video out with all details.
Thanks..
It’s quite alright! This car has had a lot of surprises as we pick through it.
Great video from sweden🫶🏻
Thank you very much!
I subscribe it, am so happy to see your channel. Am buying a Volvo soon.
Welcome to the party! If you couldn’t tell, we love our Volvos around here
Can anyone explain the blurred rectangle from 0:15?
Its to protect young persons from disgusting things.
I had 240 estate and a saloon deluxe great cars
They are the best!!
Love the video Dean!! The hydration jar hahahahahahaha
Its important to stay hydrated! Can’t be to serious on the holidays!!
So true!! Drinking cokito and other local beverages here in the island!! Happy new year!!
First year for EFI, unique MAP sensor?

26:26 that is called a Volvo amazon in sweden
You are 100% correct! We love our Amazons
Is it easier to get a 240 in Canada than in the US?
I don’t think so. 240s are pretty easy to find in the USA.
