All these years later and Derek still doesnt have a cameraman. Thats what i love about this channel it doesnt get any more real then this. Ive been here since the beginning spray painting the harley in a two car garage and ill be here until one of us is ten toes up. Keep it up Derek you're awesome!
Thanks for noticing and caring, much appreciated man!
Hasn’t seen the road worthy series??😅
@@jakeeddy7050 I know, its not the same with all that Motortrend support, I like to original, organic, home grown ones like this
@@ViceGripGarage just a thought about the funny clutch pedal pad wear. Maybe the pad fell off and got put back on upside down?
He's raising a bunch of them rn
This has Mr Dylan McCool all over it! Here a guy is on a Friday night laying in a hospital bed, going to have colon surgery number 3 soon. And all a guy has been looking forward to was a VGG video to help relax and enjoy my time before surgery. Thank you Derek.
Best of luck buddy! 💯👍
Yep, got to love a bit of Dylan McCool too, seems another genuinely nice guy.
3rd will be quick, they had enough time to make a AAA Road map.
Best of luck, I caught at stage 2a and have managed to come
out with clean scans for almost two years. Good things happen.
Hey feller just take it easy and everything will be fine.
I love that he helped some lady who had an issue. She was fortunate to have wandered into that abandoned gas station.
Derek is the only person on youtube i ever see replying to his fans. What a good wholesome fella!!
Kind of you!
Sparks garage is also great and they respond.
And they are buddies.
I think he deserves a 9 second drag and drive car build
Back when a guy's channel want as big and he didn't have as many subscribers and comments a guy would respond to about 1 out of 4 of this fellers comments!! Pretty cool!
Edit: This guy has been around awhile!

Hand's down the best UA-cam creator out there. Can never thank this man enough for the hours and hours of entertainment and the knowledge he's given all of us. Thank you.
Yep, and even with the tv show and his popularity, he is still gracing us with these awesome "will it run and drive home" videos. Love it.

Yes he is...and a fun fact...he's also one of the Seven Wonders Of The Automotive World! (You truly rock what you are doing, Derek, keep it up, you make the best content.)
There is absolutely no question of this. A guiding light for us all.
You just can’t lose with this guy. So many channels go sour after a few years but these just get better with time. My kids have kinda grown up watching over the past few years and my girlfriend and her 8 year old son now watch with me if we have an evening free. Thanks Derek, we really enjoy the content.
Thanks for the kind words!
Always remember the old mechanical fan is dual purpose. Not only does it help keep the power barn in an HVAC mode but it’s mainly there to dry out all the fluids that spray all over the engine area.
😂😂😂
Sep, if it’s a diesel…
Please never stop making videos. This channel is the only thing that has ever gotten me into fixing and maintaining my own vehicles. So much so that I just purchased an OBS Chevy 2500 to tinker with and continue learning.
On top of all of the knowledge you give me, your videos are the only thing that can help get me to sleep at night.
I found this channel after my dad sent me a few of your videos while I was deployed. It didn’t take long before they were my sole source of entertainment while I was gone and continue to be a ritual at home.
After the ole’ beater truck gets some love, I’d love to get my late grandpa’s 77 Trans Am running and driving again with my dad as soon as I can find the time and money to do so. After over a decade of sitting in an Alabama driveway, it deserves some love.
Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment. This is by far the best car channel on the internet.
That gas station was hit by a tornado I can’t remember how long it’s been, last time I stopped at that store was probably 5yrs ago, my dad lives about 20 minutes from there
Man.. I'd love to meet the Hardass who bought a custom Dodge and said no to a radio.. he was like "No thank you. The sound of my farm animals is all I need in my heart.".
He must been the old school, oh no I am not paying $50.00 extra for a radio kind of guy.
😂😂😂
Or he was just broke but didn't want anyone to know. 😂😂 Can't see the radio from the curb.
Couldn't be distracted had to keep it running.
Thatd be me. I have 6 cars currently and no radio in any of them
A guy singing Pink Floyd while doing a revival is the best thing I've heard all week feller❤❤❤
Scrolled through comments knowing someone else had to get the reference! Glad to see people still like good music.
It was more spoken word than it was singing 😂
When he said "I need some information first", I thought keep goin...and you completed the Floydian slip!

I had one of these (1987 ... D150, slant 6, 1 bbl, A-833 OD transmission, 'north of the border'. He is right, it had 'legs' - very tall gearing, came with 195/75/R15 (car tires?). It never died .. but had a few known ... 'items'. 1. Rear main seal leak, helped keep the underbody from rusting. 2. Slop in the trans linkage (external, could go under when locked and 'flip it'. 3. Carburetor icing in damp cold weather. 4. Made lots of carbon during -40C startups. 5. Pulling the vacuum lines actually helped - gave a little diesel grunt under light throttle, but much more power, and better milage (probably just bad spark advance/smog gear). It would always start .. never overheated. At -40C on the highway, mileage was awful. Starter was changed to a Nippon style - no sick dolphin noise, had enough power to pull start in 1st gear. Body 'weight reduction occured' long before motor would give. It truly was a Dodge ... both 'Do Or Die Gutless Engine' and also 'Drips or Drops Grease Everywhere'.
My dad introduced me to VGG about two years ago and Im so glad he did. Your humor lines up exactly like his so your videos is always like a good sit down with my old man.
The early hood cam view looks like you're driving a pasture with a ram in it.
Another brilliant revival, Derek. Thank you so much for all you do for us followers, truly inspirational. Huge respect from the British Island.

My first truck at 16 was an '81 D150 with the 225 and a four speed. Still got it 17 years later. I love those trucks.
First truck I ever drove was a like 1973 or 1974 F250 my grandfather purchased new off the lot back in the day, with the 460 and dual fuel tanks and all the bells and whistles.
My father had this same truck. Painted many houses with him out of that truck.
That's the thing with these old vehicles...the memories they dig out of our minds that make them cool.😊
Dad custom ordered a 1980 Vo-lar-ay as a going to school rig for us teenagers. Radio delete, A/C delete, manual windows, four door with that slant six! Everything a teenager in the early 80s didn't want. Perfect.
I'm glad yours got the

The brand new cars high school get are never loved. The 15 year old cars that burn oil and the weird stuff are the best. In the 90s one of my classmates had a 76 town car. It was like 6 foot longer than any other car in the row.
@@Davide0033 It was cheaper, and he could, lol. I swear if he could have deleted the heater he would have. Luckily it still had a cigarette lighter socket so we could plug in a small cassette player for tunes.

My Grandfather had that exact same truck in the same color with the pin stripe...that was a good ole truck. Thanks for bringing back the good memories of rolling down the road road with him.
Slant 6 engines are some of the toughest ever made. It was no suprise that it made it home. They never should have stopped making them. That truck is a work horse.
Old D150/D100 slant six ... nothing fancy, just runs. In some ways I wish I had my old 87 225 D150 (a833-OD) back as a hobby truck.
I managed to blow up two slant sixes in my '74 Duster, though to it's credit the first one I blew still ran on four cylinders with a hole in the side of the engine where on of the pistons ejected itself. However the 318 in my '73 Charger refused to die even when the rest of the car rusted away around it.
The fed. govt. mandated CAFE standards and ridiculous emission output limits stopped production of the slant six. If it was given electronic fuel injection it most likely would have stayed in production. Jeep/Chrysler decided to go with the AMC straight six instead.
Jeep may have gone straight 6 , but the slant 6 in pickups was replaced with a v6 that was the 318 with two cylinders lopped off.
@@jlaakso1706My 318 that came with my truck had a hole in the timing cover and the entire engine is horribly rust filled. Put a couple thousand on it so far and no issues besides burning oil but my dakota without rust did it too so 🤷♂️

Derek is the Bieri best. Waaaay back i was a Click and Clack Brothers fan. Had an old used car radio, speakers and lead acid battree hooked up in my room and also listened to Casey Kasem on it. 1987 Dodge short bed 2wd, automatic, 225 with aluminum camper shell, full size matress, 7 kids in the back. All over the eastern half of the US and parts of Canada on summer vacations in the late 80s-90s. Dad even built a bolt-to-frame wooden box/luggage carrier to put on the back. The mountains of TN were not kind to the transmission, but somehow we always managed to make it home. Lots of memories. Thanks for the great video, as always!

Everything I have seen with Jess and kids is heartwarming also. Great Channel
I bought a 1985 D100 with a slant 6 and 4 sp manual shortly after I got out of the Army. It wasn't winning any races, but it always started and did what I needed it to do.Nobody ever asked to borrow it,once they found out it had a third pedal. It finally succumbed to the salt that NYS puts on the roads in the winter.
Great video, Derek. Do just enough to make it roadworthy.
Tires, lights, and someone will take a chance on it.
Love the channel and thanks for what you do.Oh, and a shout-out for your friend Don for the help , and helping out the woman with her issue. Good karma!
Another tip young fella, put a foot long piece of plastic tubing on the bleed nipple of the brake cylinder or caliper. Now tie the hose upright. You can make it longer to drop down into a can. The air bubbles will rise to the top leaving only fluid in the lower part of the hose and in the caliper.
‘After these messages we’ll be right back’ Those of a certain age caught that one. Reminds me of a simpler time, kind of like that truck. Good one!
yes that really brought me back too. Miss the 80's and 90's
Sure do
This really brings me back, Derek. My first truck was an 81 ram d150 with the slant 6, but mine was an automatic. My dad and I drove it cross country 2 times without any issues. Such an awsome truck. I really miss it.
Love the videos! On deployment right now and they are definitely one of the highlights of the week! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for another great revival video. Because of your videos I have bought a 1983 GMC truck that had been parked in a barn not running for 7 years and got it back road worthy and doing it's job again
That's amazing!
My dad bought one of theses new when I was 12. It was the best truck ever, even though the 225 slant 6 in it was no powerhouse. It was just a plain-jane work truck-- no power steering, am only radio, no carpet, no a/c, no power windows, 1/2 ton. We hauled a lot of wood in that thing. My sister and I rode in the middle for years-- 4 of us in the cab . . . . lol. We actually took that thing on a 3 week camping trip through the western US-- my mom and sister slept under a camper shell in the back of the truck, and my dad and I camped in a tent. It was a fun trip. Later we had an old 71 volkswagon camper van my grandparents bought brand new; my mom sewed curtains for it and we fixed the inside up and I camped in the pop-up top. We made some good memories.
I drove a 1965 dodge town panel in highschool while looking for a new truck. Those slant 6’s are so fun and never give up on you. Thanks for all your hard work as usual! Look forward to every new video from you.
YES! 2 hour revival!

I think this is awesome and you have documentation of it being a one owner which makes it a great project to clean up, put tires on (rims and tires if you prefer) and keep it around. I agree the white spoke rims do look very good on that truck. It would make a great shop truck or for the one of the boys when they get older. It might even be another giveaway candidate later on down the road. Keep doing what you're doing and stay safe!

Found a 77 Power Wagon(4wd), shortbed, 42k miles, 440 Magnum (freeze plugs in head, had to be special ordered) TF727 transmission. It was shed stored in the high desert of CA.
The only thing that kept it from being drivable (other than the battery & fuel pump was the u joints. It had 3.5" lift kit installed (minus pinion shims).
