@@TheHomeRenovationExperts thank you!! I've dug 24 of my 32 holes so far! on the steel rods, would you ever consider using the steel rods that are zinc plated rather than hot dip galvanised? They are cheaper, but offer less protection from reading.
I'm just thinking that the rods won't be exposed to the elements as they are under the garden room, and hopefully airflow will keep them dry. appreciate your insight!

@@spatel3783 Oh yes 100%!! once they are buried in concrete and then the top part sheltered by the building itself it'll take bloody forever for the to rot! Crack on and save a few ££££

Great video! I just wondered what grade of steel the plate washers are? Mild steel okay or high tensile, A4 etc?

Very imformative, The only question i have so far is do you shave at the begining of each project and then wait until you start your next build inline with your next shave lol ;)

Lmao!! Basically.... Yeah lol. You always gotta look your best when you start, then you can let it slide until the next one. This comment had me and my wife in stitches! ;)

I love this pile system. I’m planning a 3.6 x 3.6m room build and I might just use this method too. Would I use span tables to work out how many rods I would need? . Timber seems to be in short (and expensive) supply so I don’t know if I will end up using C16 or C24. Love the videos, new subscriber here 👍

Hello Steve!! Cheers for the follow and glad you like the content! Yeah its a fantastic system. For your 3.6 x 3.6 you would need 4 rods front and back, 3 for both sides plus 3 through the centre as its basically (for the front and back walls which hold the weight of the roof) a rod every 1 meter give or take. Hope this helps as well:

Rods and square washers and nuts are from here and you'll want the M24 size
Any other questions just ping em over as you go! :)

Steve, how do you work out how many holes you need please and how far apart they need to be? Cheers mate!!!
Also, is it worth buying 3 metre rods and cutting them down?
Lastly, are the plate washers M24 also please?
    Many thanks!!!!!

Hello Ursa!! So basic rule of thumb is you need a rod at least every 1 meter of building along the front and back and the sides. The centre run you can have less as there is very little weight through the centre. And I've never needed bigger than the 1meter rods but deffinalty would if the land was that uneven. And yup M24 plastering washers 100 x 100 x 10mm :)

Hi, quick question about the rods and steel washplates. Would 3 inch plates do the job for a 3x3 garden room? I am planning on sinking them in the concrete and then using my 4inch plates for the frame. Thanks!

What are the metal stakes called?

Do you mean the rods for the rods system? if so threaded bars which I get from:
      www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk/products/m24-x-1m-high-tensile-grade-8-8-studding-threaded-rod-steel-bright-zinc-plated-din-975?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD-6gP5SYWQc4Ut2bZRTcSKaxFs3z&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwae1BhC_ARIsAK4JfrzXsewcZXceBaLiUH0t_oqQoPGwYtessZhi84Wny9JLHY6Or1us7tQaAmjHEALw_wcB
Or if you mean the metal I layout for the size they are here:

Where did you get the rod system idea from Steve? I have seen it done elsewhere, they seem to work very well.

I originally saw Liam Griffin from Oakwood garden rooms doing it and loved it! Used it loads and works like a charm! Keeps the build away from soil and moisture and allows airflow underneath as well! Spot on 👍
