      Cheers buddy!! Yeah the longer videos I can cram more stuff in which I think people enjoy. And these things can easily be built solo. But the occasional spare pair of hands does come in handy lol

    Alright mate, enjoying your content. If you throw a bucket of water in the mixer first, then add your gear, it stops any of it sticking to the bottom of the drum 👍🏻

    Thanks for making these videos Steve - incredibly helpful and thorough. We’re planning our 4mx3.5m build this year. We currently have a concrete base that is 4.8mx2m. Instead of extending it or demolishing it, we were thinking of using the steel rod method in this video for the front 2m of the room, and putting the back wall on the quick jacks you used on a previous build. That way we can level everything and it would save us having to extend (doubling) the concrete base. Any reason why we shouldn’t do this?

    • @TheHomeRenovationExperts
      @TheHomeRenovationExperts  3 місяці тому

      This will work a treat!! Does the concrete base have rebar in it and at least 6” thick? If so you are good to go buddy!! And glad you like the videos! Cheers!

    Add a water and cement first, then add ballast and more water mixes far better and does not cause an unmixed lump at the back of the drum. Never put any tools in a moving mixer unless you want a broken thumb! Or worse

      Watcha Gary!! Cheers for this fella! This is why I like doing these videos as you get so used to doing something one way until someone takers the time to say there may be a better way! I shall try this on my next build :D

    I’ve seen so many different ratios for concrete mix but noticed early videos of Oakwood Garden Rooms and yourself using 3:1 ratio. Is this sufficient and strong enough for the rods as planning doing my own build in the summer. Loving all your videos by the way and noting down lots of advice.

    • @TheHomeRenovationExperts
      @TheHomeRenovationExperts  Рік тому +1

      Hello James! Yes matey 3:1 is spot on and never had a problem ever! It’s the poor guys who use post Crete I’m scared for lol 😂

  • @garyfanticsfantastic9366

    Steve, slide some waste pipe over the rod before putting in the concrete. Then the thread stays clean.

    First off. Sound is much better well done. Can hear you wherever you are. Second off. Please don't ever try and film yourself with one hand putting the stick in the mixer. Yeah i know you should never put a stick in the mixer but we all do it. But please don't try filming yourself with one hand while doing it. It really can seriously injure you. I know I sound like an old granny but I saw a bloke do that on site and it snapped his arm. Keep up the great videos.

    Hi mate,
    Diameter of holes please?
    Depth of holes please?
    Size of threaded rod and where you purchased please?
    And finally, what are the little square plates called that go into the concrete on the threaded rods please?
    Sorry for the heap of questions (you could always say this stuff as your going along lol!!?)
    And I'd find it really helpful if you filmed the bags of cement and ballast so we know exactly what you used.
    (I think I'm going to get told off now!!)
