Advice from me to you and I am sure you will thank me for this advice, which is when you go to a Muslim country, do you remember to ask them about Islam as I do, and I am sure that you will experience a completely different experience before and after this question, but especially in an Arab country Remember that Islam has absolutely nothing to do with Arabs, it is a religion that includes all people of any kind I'm sure you'll have a completely different experience after asking )What is Islam@@@@ (can I learn more about it@@@)
As a Maltese person, I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay here! I'm only just a little bit sad that you didn't visit our megalithic temples that were built before the great pyramids of Giza!
We were there in February and the Ggantija megalithic temples were what I was most excited about, truly stunning!! 😍😍 Honestly Malta has so many amazing places to see that the 5 days we stayed were not enough. You can check out our Malta vlogs if you'd like, Ggantija temples are in the vlog 😊
As a Maltese I enjoyed watching your videos on Malta :) To answer your question, the 'dust' on cars is actually sand. We have "xita tal-hamrija" which translates to the "rain of soil" which is apparently rain that travels from North Africa and the sand is the residue that is left from that rain 🤷♀ We get that type of rain in Spring and Autumn mostly.
OOh, I feel immense gratitude for being Maltese and residing in these stunning islands. The locals are incredibly warm, the weather is delightful, and we’re fortunate to have a variety of experiences within relatively short distances. Thank you once again for visiting!
GREAT that you got to see M'dina but while it got its name from the city in Arabia, it's far older than the Arabic occupation. It was originally called Melita and was the capital city from Phoenician times onward- and no accident that one could see Valetta and virtually the whole Maltese coast from its walls since they built it so they could be ready for invading navies and merchant ships! Oh and Melita was also the original name for the island of Malta which meant 'land of honey' and its honey was savored all over the Mediterranean from at least Ancient Greek times (and I hope you got to have some since it's fantastic).
Once you get out of the Valetta/Sliema 'metro' area since the roads are very twisty and confusing within the towns. In town, just walk or take the tour buses!
Dan and Oskar, I arrived on the day the Azure window fell into the ocean with the specific intention of filming it! Imagine that, It had been standing probably for over two hundred years and I chose the wrong day, wrong year , wrong century. I made a little video about it too. Azure was the pride of Malta.
Helloooooo, little note that the Azure Window was actually a fairly new/recent rock formation. The sea is so powerful it's constantly creating and destroying. If you check out photos of the window in the 1950s and compare it to the 2000s, you can see just how much it changed in just 50 years.
The Azure window was beautiful, but the underwater is even more stunning. Diving in Malta/Gozo/Comino is normally really good, but the winds can make it a challenge especially when seasons are changing. I’m so glad you enjoyed Malta, as a Maltese person, I appreciate when travellers share a new perspective.
Another awesome video. You guys are great. Never boring. Funny and entertaining 😄. Thank you so much for taking us along with your journey thru your amazing videos.
The island between Malta and Gozo is Comino. A friend out from England and I walked it in an afternoon. The water of the Blue Lagoon really is blue. Glad you made time for Gozo, which has a quiet charm. Its two theatres put on operas every year at very reasonable prices. (A friend plays in the orchestra so I go to support.))
I’m currently staying in Gozo and have been here for a few months for my internship. I got this recommended to me by UA-cam and it’s so weird to see you guys walk where I walk everyday and pass the cafe I used to work at, or how at 7:10 I can see my apartment building on the right😂. Great video!
You guys are so much fun. I am Maltese and even though I know Malta, I still watched your videos till the end. I'm now subscribed and looking forward for more content. Thank you!
I’ve been to 20 so far, and I’d be lost without @geographynow 😭 It’s awesome to see the good sides of UA-cam be good together, even in the small ways 😊
The place where u were scoobadiving across the popeye village, there’s my hidden cave hahah where i feel lucky. Coming back to Malta this end of September and defo will go back to my cave 😅
First went in 2007 to Melliha, girlfriend booked it as a surprise as to be honest, it's not a place we'd thought of going. We've been back many times because we liked it so much, give it a try. You don't need a car to get around because it's so small and the buses are reliable and dirt cheap.
Another amazing Vlog! I’m glad you could put your diving skills to the test again but too bad about the waves/current. Mdina looks really cool! You’re icing me ideas for future vacations! Haha Stay safe friends! ❤️
We don't have suburbs. The coastal towns you drove through are ancient fishing villages. They are much older than Valletta. Mdina is thousands of years old, originally built by the Phoenicians.
LLove your travel blogs. Your humor and fun is coming thru loud and clear. Fantastic video! Your English is amazing. Was Malta expensive to visit.? ie hotels, meals etc. Can you also share the price of the ferry to Gozo please?
That's a holdover from Malta's time being a British colony (1800-1964). Of course another holdover is that English is the 2nd official language after Maltese so that helps English-speaking tourists!
As a Maltese person the pronounciation of Mdina killed me. It's pronounced Imdina. And the name of the little Island in between Gozo and Malta is Comino. Although I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here.
Me and my bf (we're LGBT couple from Poland) didn't make it with driving on the left side in Malta. We rented a car but my bf who drove the car from the airport was schocked and terrifiied. We arrived at night. Firstly, we had to handle an extremely narrow village street with these stone-made fences. I was sitting beside my boyfriend and I was so worried that the car would rub against the wall on my side. Secondly, the markings, especially road surface markings were insuficcient and sometimes confusing. He wasn't sure how to cross the roundabouts. A lot of folks vere honking at us which was very stressful, especially for me because I had no control of what was happening whatsoever. My bf was cursing, furious and helpless. We made it to the hotel in Sliema and I was literally crying in our room. He approached me, hugged me and we decided not to use the car anymore. I called the rental agency and we resigned. We were using Bolt instead. It was very effecive and not so much expensive. We fell in love with Malta and we are plannig to visit it again in October - to get married :). Now we will try the local transportation.
Watching this made me wanna go back to Malta! Gozo and Mdina were definitely highlights for me (think it’s pronounced “Mmdina” btw haha) - either that or my Bolt driver was wrong 😅
Arabic words of places are common in Malta. So not strange to see the city of Mdina (meaning city in Arabic) or Rabat (meaning in Arabic is the stationing of the Islamic armies with their weapons and military equipment in places of danger and frontiers). But even Spain carries to this very day Arabic places such Al Hambra (reference to the red castle at the times of Andalusia) and Wadalajara (literally meaning the valley of dung), just to mention a few.

I have a question for you guys - Do you ever miss any specific foods / meals that you can’t eat being vegan? Great video, officially made me jealous and want to visit Malta.
In the beginning we did (esp feta cheese lmao) but now 5+ years in we don't really miss anything too much tbh. The substitute products are also getting INSANELY good now (for those special occasions when you want something specific) so even stuff that's been difficult to "relive" the taste of, like sea food, is now becoming available too🌱 Thank you!
You leave from Mġarr port in Gozo. Depending on the queu, to get to the port at Ċirkewwa Malta, between 30-1hr. Then from Ċirkewwa to Sliema it's from 30 mins to... 2hrs because traffic during works hours is a bitch.
