This video is slightly different than usual, hope guys like it❤ (Tbh, you may not notice much of a difference but it felt v different editing it🤣) In any case, we love you guys!!!
Loved this video. Christchurch is my home town, and interesting thing is that 70% of the centre of town was demolished after a massive earthquake nearly 12 years ago. The centre of the city has struggled to get the population back that it once had, so it seems fairly dead. I love your editing style, I’m planning on using your story board format and shot ideas, when I produce videos on our next trip to Italy and Spain. I’m currently using LumaFusion but have Final Cut installed on my Mac so I will start to learn that from now on overall I have loved your video series on New Zealand so much and I am thrilled that you have found our country very beautiful and friendly. Safe travels
Jokes aside, I have loved experiencing my home country through your eyes. Aotearoa truly is a unique taonga (treasure) of this earth. I am glad you were able to feel and be blessed by its beauty. In future visits, hire a car from Auckland and explore the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Northland regions!
Hey guys you are in my top 3 of YT channels. I love the new style that is probably influenced by your introspection. The only thing I found a bit jarring was the zooming in & out at Lake Tekapo. I look forward to your next 100 countries :D
Those 2 mountains behind you in the tekapo (said teck-a-po) shot are the two thumb range, and are the head of the rangitata tover rivr on the eastern side of them. Over the river is Samuel Butlers Erewhon Station. You Boyd have left so much to see and do. An hour north of Christchurch is the mountain village of Hanmer Springs where beautiful hot mineral pools ease all your aches and pains. Love to take you to both places
I am so glad you are enjoying my little country so much. I left Canada in 2011 to move here and is still amazed by what I continue to discover. Cannot wait to see what you think of Auckland (and would have loved a small review on your Air NZ flight as I work for the airline) Ka kite anō (Thanks and good bye)
Next time you guys go...a stop in Wellington is well-worth it to me. I think it gets overlooked. I love seeing you guys discovering my favorite place in the world.
Go to Matai bay next time! I go camping there every year but because I live just outside of Matamata on a dairy farm it’s a 7 hour drive up 😢 but totally worth it
One piece of advice with editing. Sometimes you only show a shot for like a second and it’s hard on the eyes. Maybe slow it down just a tad. Also, the focus jumps around sometimes when you are speaking, like the shot in the car. Not complaining. Your videos are amazing. Thank you for showing us the beautiful scenery.
New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list. It’s so green and beautiful there. I can’t wait to see Auckland. Both styles of editing is great Oskar. However you want to do it!❤✈️
Oh wow! I live in Christchurch :) half Kiwi/ Portuguese. It takes SO long to get here from Europe, but worth it! Hope you had a good time and that the earthquake repair/ damage in Christchurch didn't put you off coming back. It's an interesting city, also around the river is beautiful. Have a nice time both, come back soon!

You guys deserve to immerse yourself in peace as much as you want. I guess it comes with traveling through so many places that you'd just want to be in the moment more.

Thanks Oskar and Dan! I'm so glad you enjoyed the Banks Peninsula and also Christchurch!! But so happy you got to see my home city Auckland! Hi guys, Marg again from Australia! Re your travels moving forward, can i recommend you do it a little more slowly, as I’ve found it gives you more of a chance to get the true “feel” of a place, regardless of where you are in the world. I’ve just returned from an epic 14 week trip and in most places I stayed at least 5 days and some even 8! It was fantastic as that gives you loads of time to wander and explore without set plans, do a walking tour or three, discover all the hidden gems not all tourists know about and do a day trip or two to interesting places nearby. Just a suggestion…… Enjoy!
Bringing back memories from my trip to NZ that happened almost exactly 4 years ago (in Feb). I went on a boat tour in Akaroa, but I drove from Queenstown and back and flew back ot Auckand from there. I did, however, like the north islad better than the south island. Of course, the first thing I found by accidend on my first day was a little German restaurant run by a woman from Berlin. And I am from Berlin, but now live in Arizona... Can't wait to go back...
Hi Guys. Was it more "talk to the camera" rather than voiced-over afterwards? Either way, your videos are hugely watchable and informative. Safe travels.
Wow! It's beautiful flowers in lake Tekapo. Which month did you go? I would like to visit when these flowers are blooming. Thank you for sharing your adventures! 😄
@@carlystevenson950 Chch gang, there are definitely more brutal winters than ours, I was recently in the UK and thought their winter would be the same, but it was bone chilling cold. @@joshuav9005 Agreed! Love the summer here. Hoping that it’s when my family comes out to visit. The lupins at Tekapo and being able to swim at some spots would be mint :)
I can't wait to see what the North Island looks like! The South Island looks stunning and seems to exude a really calm/peaceful vibe. 😊 I'm with you on vegan restaurants as well! Over here in the Netherlands, it feels like you either have places where you have 1 vegetarian dish on the menu (somehow that almost always ends up being a goat cheese salad) or on the other end of the spectrum places where dandelion juices wouldn't be out of place. 😁
Man why do all my favourite UA-camrs have to visit my city whilst I’m overseas 😭 interesting you said Christchurch looks Scandinavian though, never really thought about that. Anyway, glad you had a great time in NZ and hit some good weather, can’t wait to see you back here some day!
@@OskarandDan Everything in moderation Dan & Oskar, as you'll well understand being half-Swedish. Human connection is far more important than the length of shopping hours. Slow down and b-r-e-a-t-h-e. You're not in Asia, North America or parts of Europe. Many of us kiwis have nordic ancestry, like you, from 19th century immigration. Dutch too. In addition to british and polynesian, asian ancestry. Lends a certain 'low key' sensibility to the kiwi culture. Not for everyone admittedly. Lastly your comments on tour prices? Prices are cheap in Asia for a multitude of reasons such as labour, sheer volume of tourism and importantly (in some place) differences in health and safety legislation (compliance with).
