You have helped me more than you know. I have watched so many videos about wigs and I’m so confused. I just need to slow down and take a breath. I’m 65 and all the sudden facing possibly loosing all my hair. You make me see the positive side of my cancer journey. I would have never known that was a wig if I didn’t know you by watching your videos.

@@Sylvia-i3dDon't worry, from my experience, as long as there's no structural issues with your wig application, a lot of times the people who look at you and laugh when you are wearing wigs are just jealous that you are confident enough and also because it looks good on you. And you need to ask yourself why people laugh. There's usually an agenda behind their laughter and most often it is their insecurities about your confidence or they just want to find something about you that they can use to pull you down. So you need to get confident about yourself wearing the wig.
Like, once you leave the house knowing that it looks good and you also have a friend who can vet that it has no problems then you have nothing to worry about and you can just boil down the harassment to them being foolish and immature. Good luck 😊

Due to a scalp condition, I just recently bought my first wig. Despite it looking very close to my typical hair, I have been so in my head about people seeing a wig. I still see a wig and feel like it doesn’t look natural every time I look in the mirror. But your message here has been so helpful! With time (and getting my hands in the wig) it’s starting to feel more natural. But the reminder to be confident is everything! Thank you for this video. It helped me and I’m sure it will help others in the future too!

Thank you for your videos. I have hair in the back of my head but hardly any on top and the sides. For years I just pulled it tight and went on with my day. But then the hair clip had little to grab on to. I have just started my wig journey. It is hard because I have had no hair for so long, that when I put on a wig it looks like too much hair. Thank you for helping all of us on this journey.

Warned my husband I planned to pay $$$$ for a wig. Went to my first wig shop to see what was available. She was so sweet. Knew how I felt. Tried some wigs on that just wasn't me. The last wig I tried was very close to my hair color and style. She could tell I was happy with it. Turned out it was on clearance and the last one. Ended up paying less than online and way less than planned . Still not totally comfortable wearing it, watched too many old movies where wigs came off, though family and friends say it looks great.
Thank you for your videos. Hopefully will get to place wear I can get my confidence.

What good advice! The first time I went to a wig store I went with a good friend. I tried on wigs in a few stores that were all near each other. I totally agree, you have to actually try wigs on to see what you like. I have bought wigs at local wig shops and on amazon that are more budget friendly and after a year of trying different wigs I am starting to find what I prefer. I have dark brown hair, and have tried wigs that are lighter and darker than my natural color. I have some longer wigs but surprisingly I have found that I also really like shorter wigs for daily wear. Eventually I would like to get a more expensive wig, but I want to wait until I know better what color and length to commit to. The cool part is that most people can't tell I am wearing a wig which is awesome. I really thought that people would be able to tell but usually people just think I changed my hairstyle. Even people who I know wear wigs didn't suspect I was wearing a wig. That said, when I started wearing wigs I was decided that even if someone could tell I was wearing a wig or made a stupid comment that I would not let that make me feel bad. My wigs, even some that may not have been the right shade, still looked better and made me feel more confident than my bio hair. I have scarring alopecia and though I have hair it looks awful. I have tons of bald spots . I really appreciate channels like yours. It really helps. I like how you review wigs at different price points. I feel like wigs have given me my confidence back. Truly there are cute wigs at every price point so no one should despair. The luxury wigs are most beautiful, but I have worn 60 dollar amazon wigs that I love and have gotten lots of compliments

    Two things …
    1. When you go to try on wigs wear makeup. You will be amazed at how nice you look. The reverse happens if you don’t wear makeup especially lipstick and eyebrow pencil.
    2. You may find the staff will pressure you to buy, I’ve seen staff make customers cry! Be insistent that you’re not purchasing today, just getting familiar, and they will (hopefully) be supportive. They may charge you a $50 fee for their time and expertise, and they can be very dismissive and downright rude. I never expected this, and was shocked at their treatment of myself and other customers. What happens is that people go to the salon, they do all the work and then the customer buys something online. Naturally they feel peeved but it’s unacceptable

Girl I found your channel today and I have already watched half of your videos, you're doing a fantastic job! Thank you so much for all this information! We are on the same boat. My natural hair is dark blonde/light brown and I have been experiencing hair loss for years and it is thin af. When I started wearing wigs for the first time like 10 years ago nobody was talking about it! Like it was shameful or whatever. smh
Do you plan to do a video about your natural hair and how you plan to grow it back? I know it is a wig channel, but I believe many people would relate.
Also, I was about to throw my old synthetic wig away because she was so comped I couldn't do anything about it. But after watching your two videos about bringing her back to life, I followed your steps and will keep her! Thank you so so much!

I'm just beginning my wig journey. I had Covid for nearly 2 months, and now, two months since I recovered, I have lost about 2/3 of my hair in a period of 3 weeks.
The first place I tried was a huge wig shop that was kind of like the Costco of wigs. Most were for black or Asian women, which I am not. There was a huge, scary looking security guy when I first walked in the door, and I only saw two employees while I was there- both men with heavy accents. I was told I could only try on 6 wigs, and there was no one I could even understand to give any assistance. I left after 10 minutes, empty handed. Now I've called two more shops, and they each have a limit of trying on three wigs. How can I make a decision with just three wigs? I live in a remote area and it is very expensive to get to the wig shops.
I'm hoping the information I find here will be a big help in making some decisions. (I'm leery of trying a wig cap, as an acquaintance ended up pulling off her entire wig when she went to pull off her hat. Everyone just kind of had a horrified look, and none of us wanted to embarrass her by pointing it out. She had both her hat and her wig in her hand, and still didn't notice.)

I have no problem with my hair whatsoever (except dandruff but I got it covered with my shampoo) but wigs are just so beautiful, fun and original. You can change your appearance instantly and get a new look. You can experiment. I'm a bit intimidated though, I don't know how people will react. I used to bleach it and it hurt and was so expensive... I also dyed it multiple colors, but once you dye it you can't always change the color you want or bleach it like you would like to. So I thought : why waste money, time and everything, and mostly expose yourself to harmful chemicals when you could just wear wigs ?

I relate 100% to the beginning of your wig journey. I went to The Wig Boutique in Edmonton AB , amazing staff, I went back the second time, when fully ready, and bought a really decent first wig and I've been wearing it since September. Thank you for this video. It’s so empowering. I had beautiful long salt and pepper/ silver hair. People would actually stop me on the street and complement me on it. Well. I recently lost my hair from chemotherapy it was devastating, but I’ve learned that the important thing is I’m alive. so I’ve bought a few wigs one of them being Simmer in the shaded cappuccino color and I’m going to buy a shaded biscuit. The other one is Bella Vida by Raquel Welch also in my natural silver gray color called granita and it’s absolutely beautiful I’d love to see you review that wig.
I’ve learned to focus more on my health, not my bio hair, and totally enjoy my new wigs. Thank you for focusing on the empowerment and feeling good in our skin, and not just on the beauty and fashion aspect of wearing wigs. Thank you.

This video is seriously so, so helpful. My hair is very badly damaged. It breaks constantly. I’m 38 but my hair looks 83. I don’t know why, and no one can figure it out. All my labs are totally normal, but it’s clearly hormonal. My hair was so fine to begin with, so it’s just been devastating.
I contemplate wigs alllll the time. My natural hair is so bad that my only option is pulled back in an ugly silk scrunchie. Which is boring, sad, and limits my wardrobe significantly. I see so many cute things that would just look so strange with my ugly little bun. :/ I’m ready to have some confidence back!

Update! I visited the wig salon today, and I have to tell you, the best recommendation from any wood channel was the advice you gave your viewers to go visit a local wig shop. Not only did I get a complete education on synthetic versus human hair, wigs, cap, construction, trying on different colors, different lengths, different styles, etc., I realized my assessment of my own knees was totally off. Once you get a wig on your head, you can understand how it feels, and what looks best on you and what the commitment will be this channel you have is terrific, and nowhere has anyone given the advice of going to local Wig salon before making the investment. Thank you so very much, you really do understand your viewers, I ended up getting the John Reno drew in a shade that I could have never gleaned from any Wig website, and I learned it can be customized, so I’m very excited!

What are some of the places you've purchased wigs from and didn't regret it. My biggest fear is spending a lot of money on a wig that turns out to be lower quality than advertised and it either frays or starts falling apart or looking totally fake. I don't mind spending several hundred on a wig, I just can't afford to do it over and over hoping to find one that turns out to be a total failure. I do look at customer reviews, but they are always so mixed. I spent several full days looking and looking and wound up totally mentally exhausted and feeling really defeated. I finally bought one online, it appears to be a good quality wig but looks ridiculous on me. My hair is starting to fall out, so I cut it really short, I look terrible in short hair, and now I'm faced with having to go to work and face the world next week. I'm trying to be strong but I'm falling apart. ** With all that said, are you able to suggest a couple of reputable companies? I found a few with wigs I thought I would like but the websites looked questionable. **

I find that extremely disrespectful. That's not the first time someone has done that.
I snapped on her and said "yeah I paid for it, so it's mine."
An ideal comment to that, esp in front of an audience, is to say, " Well, if it wasn't my hair, I wouldn't want everyone to know."
The one lady who did that years ago made it a point to say it in front of a bunch of ppl too..
Ppl really should learn manners and respect.
    Tyfs

Wow, I’m so sorry that happened to you-people can be unbelievably rude and invasive. It’s beyond disrespectful to question someone like that, especially in front of others, and then to actually reach out and touch your hair? That’s just crossing so many lines. Your response was perfect, though! No one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable or put you on the spot like that. You handled it with grace and confidence. It’s so important to keep calling out this kind of behavior because people need to learn to respect boundaries and show some basic manners. Stay strong, and thanks for sharing your experience-it’s a reminder that we still have work to do in teaching people what respect truly means.

I love the wig you’re wearing you look awesome in it. I heard you mention it’s a Raquel Welch, but which wig and what color is it that you’re wearing? I watched another video since I’ve been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. You Usually go for shaded biscuit, but on the one video you loved The shaded sand. I am a very very light brown to dark blonde with highlights and just trying to find my right color for the first time I know after watching all these videos of different companies I’m gonna go with Raquel Welch thank you so much.

You're saying, "First go and try on some wigs."
And I'm like.... Yeah... I already ordered about 10 wigs online. I have never put any wig on in my life, but I was just like, "I want to start wearing wigs." And about 30 minutes later I had already ordered 10 of them in variety color and styles. 😂
No testing, no trials... I guess it will be the test when they come in.

I have hair, but I don’t like my natural hair so you know what I just wear wigs for fun. It’s not because I don’t have any type of disease. My hair is not falling out. I just like to wear them. It’s fun, especially from Raquel Welch.

You’re in the right place!! Start on UA-cam, watching review videos and learning the ins and outs. The best wigs come from online stores anyways, so I think the fact that you’re here now is a fantastic start! 🤗💕

YT is your friend. Look at another reviewer Denise Sheets, she also has a series of videos aimed specifically at new-to-wigs-wearers. She covers everything, caps, fibres, colours, styles, permatease/density, styling. It will take you months to get through all the info around wigs, it will seem totally confusing at the start, but watch everything and one day it will all suddenly click and come together, and make sense.
For me cost was the overriding factor, wigs are addictive and can be expensive and many of us have gotten into financial difficulties - it’s a real thing! Many people spend a fortune searching for The One, we need to reassess our expectations of what we want from a wig, have a clear idea of what we consider important to us. This takes time, money and wigs-on-heads.
One of the most important factors is to know your own head measurements, especially your forehead to chin measurement. This will determine where the wig will sit around your face and if it will suit you or not. Many wig reviewers (and stock photos) have a small measurement and what look fabulous on them looks wrong on us. Many of us didn’t know this at the start, spent lots of money on a beautiful wig only to hate it!

What is your honest opinion on the Chelsea Smith Crowns??? They’re very affordable, plus I’ve watched a ton of videos with the girls who promote them. To me they ALL look fantastic! However I have never worn a wig! But I’m 100% sit on going wiggy! Just as you stated.. I’m sick of having to start getting ready 2/3 hours before I can walk out my door! Plus after spending so so much time on my bio hair? It looks like complete and utter shit! 🤦‍♀️

What a great video! FYI there’s a Chinese herb called He Shou Wu that gets hair growing back. I take it for my eyebrows (hormones) but it helps me feel better overall.
Personally I’m watching because I’m Native American and into film acting so directors usually want long haired Natives. I keep my hair short because it’s so much easier. I think I’m going to start collecting wigs now!

@@EssenceofMind I totally get your concerns! 🌟 Wigs can be a little intimidating at first, but I’ve got you covered with some helpful tips and information.
      - Worried about wigs affecting your natural hairline? Here’s a video I did on whether wigs are actually good for your hair: (ua-cam.com/video/MZL05JXMC4A/v-deo.htmlsi=eeLvDxhC4KAmolrr)
      - Concerned about wigs falling off? I made a video on how to keep a wig securely on your head without glue, and it’s super fast and easy: (ua-cam.com/video/5vRqvGQ7W_Q/v-deo.htmlsi=BrNt3REzg-l5NAIH)
      - Worried about wigs being hot? While wigs can sometimes feel warm, there are ways to manage this, and certain cap constructions can help keep you cooler. Check out this video where I talk about all the facts you need to know about wearing wigs: (ua-cam.com/video/0o9rl0UtCqY/v-deo.htmlsi=ECv-2SqCc0h_eXW_). I’m 18 and just recently I have been experiencing hair loss cause of autoimmune issues. :(. I grew up with always having long till my thighs thick black hair and I still have it so far? But big spots on my head of missing hair cause of my situation those last 4 to 5 months. And I’m looking to learn more about stuff like that to prepare myself 😅 ueee it’s ok. We will all be alright cause thankfully in this day and age nothing is really out of the blue anymore 😂
