After I turned gray, I only wore gray wigs. After my leukemia diagnosis, I realized that life is short and I have been enjoying wearing red and chunky strawberry blond wigs. It's been fun!! To my surprise, other people either don't care or they think I look great! For newbies, may I say that wigs are nothing more than makeup for our heads.
They are SO addictive. I'm in Australia and for some reason there is also a bit of a stigma about wearing wigs if you have bio hair. But... I stick my nose in the air and carry on feeling fabulous. But yeah... not so much in summer as they are hot. And I rarely get through a whole day with a wig on. I feel a bit constricted. I wear them out to dinner or to the shops, and very occasionally I wear them to work. During the pandemic I wore a wig when on zoom meetings 😊
Love this!!!! Isn't it interesting that there is that stigma around wearing wigs if you have bio hair?!!! I hope with more wig exposure that will change, because wigs are also FOR FUN! ☺ And I think wigs are awesome for anyone and everyone!!!!
I have alopecia which has been difficult- that sore spot. People can be SO insensitive-asking about how my hair color or length changes so easily, but watching this video, I don't feel alone! Whatever someone's reasons for wearing hair may be, building confidence and being comfortable in our skin is so important. THANK YOU!
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you. :) I feel exactly the same about my wigs. I'm 6 months into my wig journey. Just jumped in with both feet and started wearing out in public immediately. Totally addicted to my new awesome hair. Trying so many different styles, colors. I enjoy it soooo much!! Like you, I really see them as MY HAIR and they give me confidence and make me HAPPY!
I LOVE wigs! I NEVER have a bad hair day, and always look like I've just had man expensive salon coloring, AND they are less expensive that salon visits. I will never go back to just my bio hair. Wigs are addictive and the most fun I've ever had doing something that's not illegal 🙂 fun.
Ida I was the same as you when I first wore wigs due to having alopecia I was embarrassed and self conscious, but 10 years down the line I love going out with my wigs and every single wig that I wear at least one stranger compliments me on my hair ! I don’t tell them that it’s a wig not because I’m ashamed but because I’m pleased that they look so natural. I’ve only started telling my neighbours that I wear wigs as they kept complimenting me on my various hair styles and I felt that I had to come clean with them 😂😂
@@roseannoa5021 heheheh what an amazing story!!! I love that you're so confident walking around with various styles now!! I too got to the same point with some of my close friends and neighbours LOL. I had to tell them I wear wigs because they were complimenting me all the time and my hair kept changing. It's like they needed MORE., "where do you get your hair styled, Stephanie?! Can I come with you the next time?! Your hair is always so beautiful!" LOL.... That's when I finally decided, Okaaay, I have to come clean HAH
I lost some hair due to quick weight loss. It’s back now but I got a few wigs to wear. They are addictive. I now have 10 even tho I don’t need them. I love being able to have different looks without even trying. A couple are short but most mid-length. I only wear them when I’m meeting friends or going out to eat. I don’t get hot (live in Florida) because I’m just going from car to restaurant/store.
I have been so depressed for months because of hair loss. I've had a lot of thinning for years but recently it has gotten way worse, it gives me so much anxiety, i literally don't want to go anywhere unless absolutely necessary. I never feel beautiful anymore, its so much harder than I could've ever imagined. Thank you so much for sharing, you always hear so many women struggle with it but hardly anyone talks about it. I really hope one day I can have this confidence 🥹
Wigs are addictive. Thanks for mentioning this. Now I know I'm not the only one addicted to buying wigs! I love what you said about the "sore" going away. As I got older, I got more invisible, my scalp began to show through my hair. Then I found wigs. Now, I have so many, and I learned on youtube how to wear make up for someone in their 60's. I shaved my head! I had hair falling out all over my house so I just did. I am sooooo much happier with my appearance now, and people notice me and say nice things! Even if I say its a wig, they don't care, or they are surprised.
I just found great budget friendly wigs on Amazon. I actually have the same one you have on! Lol. Your right they are addictive 😊 I think of them like an accessory. Like wearing a hat 😊
Thanks for your video I find that fully hand tied wigs are too hot , but monofilament and wefted wigs are fine but then again I live in Scotland and it doesn’t get too hot 😂 in fact when 8 take my wig off at night I have to put on a beanie hat as my head is cold. I don’t wear anything under my wig and don’t have any problems . Thanks again 🙏🙏
Hi Roseann!!! I 100% agree with you!!! =) I love the hand-tied though because when I sweat, the wefts get itchy on me.. but you're absolutely right that the wefts allow more passage of air flow. Thank you so so much for your comment!!! And, Oh my goodness, you live in Scotland!!! Wow!!! My fiance and I LOVE Scotland!!! Is that where you were born? It's such a beautiful place! That wig would look so much more natural if it was chin length, or shoulder length. A stylist could cut it into a different length, it would majorly improve its appearance.
