He, the young man, knew he started with $8000. There was only $7100 counted, he knew what was missing & kept his mouth shut & when asked what the crunched bills should total - $900 was the amount. And the Wendy’s receipt! Cop tampered with evidence & embezzlement should be the charges.

    • @indifferentadvocate1737
      @indifferentadvocate1737 7 місяців тому +157

      Criminal defense attorney here. Embezzlement is the same thing as theft, it just contains a particular set of elements that makes it a bit unique. He’s charged with embezzlement because embezzlement is a form of theft where you are legally allowed to interact with the property but then you commit theft when you cross over into unlawful interaction with the property.
      Evidence tampering doesn’t apply here because the money isn’t evidence; it’s just the prisoner’s property that the officer stole.
      The charges seem appropriate.

    • @Westbankfireman
      @Westbankfireman 7 місяців тому +48

      Embezzlement is a felony and is more specific than just generic theft, in that the theft was by virtue of his job as a police officer.
      If you steal, it's considered theft. If you steal and it's directly related to your job, it's embezzlement.

    How many times you think this creep stole money from subjects? This is definitely not the first time. You'd think a cop would be scared to death to do this. But those who don't already know. They are Comfortable as Hell doing this. This is normal for Cops. Why you think this piece of trash did it right there in frontof the subject and his partner? Because its not a big deal. They all do it, including his partner who would just LIE for him using the words "I Never Witness Officer Chapman Stealing Anything" Even after she did witness the money being found right under his driver chair by the Sergeant. The Black Sergeant seem to be honest because he's a Sergeant and can really be in hot water if he is not Honest especially after witnessing the theft and the one finding the stolen cash under the suspect's driver seat. So I believe this black Sergeant will come clean. The female on the other hand is appearing to start the coverup immediately after even witnessing the Theft rightin front of her eyes. Black law enforcement always been a bit more honest then their counterparts. Thats a Fact.

    The way they treat their own makes me really dislike the police and I am pro police but this stuff has to stop. This hillbilly acts so pathetic even though he just stole damn near 1000 dollars from someone.
