I think the most egregious thing about this chase is the fact that they viciously slammed that innocent man into the ground, busted his nose, and arrested him. Meanwhile the perp gets paraded with tender care into a squad car while they waited on EMTs. Truly an LAPD moment.
Your point was the most incredible about this. It's followed only by the fact none of rest of this needed to occur had that cop kept him pinned in the van with backup arriving seconds later. CA in competence on world wide display.
How do you know his nose was busted. I didn’t see that. If it was I would consider that he had just been involved in a 2 car collision so I would not think the police caused it. Plus, I would more believe they had to hand cuff the car wreak victim for his own safety. I know some hot heads that if they were in that situation white rage would be driving them and they would have went straight and confronted the perpetrator. Maybe the officers were preventing that from happening. That makes more sense than to believe they pulled a car wreak victim out of a car, injure him and then hand cuff him for jail. That sounds dumb.

Probably a “career” criminal. He’ll come outta prison (if he even gets there!) with more “skills,” because that is what rehabilitation is about in our prison system.
Cops can't nor should they shoot at tires unless absolutely neccesary, and this situation wasn't one of them heres why; 1. The Bullet could easily miss it's mark (guns aren't as easy to aim as you may think) and ricochet 2. They were in a domestic area with people living in homes at the times he was cornered 3. Shooting a tire mid-pursuit has an incredibly low chance of hitting it's mark, as well as if it DID manage to hit it's mark, the car could spin out of control and hit pedestrians, other cars, a home, etc.
Imagine a Law Enforcement “Protocol” that allows a suspect to put thousands of citizens to be put at risk of mortal danger before “Deadly” force against an alleged felon is utilized! Only an asinine member of the Judicial Branch could come up with those conditions! And, of course, it’s California here and they are So Progressive in hand-cuffing law enforcement in “Protecting and Serving”. You GO Girls!

You are sorry because deep down it was at the expense of your entertainment for a few moments.
I hope your empathy towards victims is not based on the loss of their possessions, which can be replaced quite easly but rather you carry about their health (from crashes) and mental state after they got robbed which can unfortunately be hard to regain when you've experienced traumatic experience. I do't know if the vehicle insurance that is required to have for all car owners is going to cover the cost of damages but i know the medical aid is very very overpriced there and can be a real long lasting issue for somebody who got in car crash caused by a maniac running from police. I hope the victims recover, both financially and most importantly get back to full health, both mental and physical.

20 cops just to stop one guy and the guy drove better than them. The fact that they even arrested the people that he crashed into for no reason whatsoever instead of giving them medical attention. That was like more than 80 cops at this point

The cops where trying to get the driver to move out of the way because his position was in the line of fire. He was most likely not cooperating not knowing how serious this situation is. You can see after they cuffed him, all of the cops that was by his car cleared that area, they were not positioned there for the car thief, they where there to get that guy out of the way.

@@Marg205 Yours is the first rational suggestion of why the innocent guy in the car got so manhandled. I was thinking the cops just had steroid rage after the chase.
They threw that guy down and tackled him as if he was the guy they were after. They weren't doing that just to keep him from approaching the pickup I'm sorry to say. A shame.
I thought that maybe it was somehow a person related to the truck that was stolen, following down the persuit with his own agenda to get back at the car thief😊😊

Cops can't nor should they shoot at tires unless absolutely neccesary, and this situation wasn't one of them heres why;
1. The Bullet could easily miss it's mark (guns aren't as easy to aim as you may think) and ricochet
2. They were in a domestic area with people living in homes at the times he was cornered
3. Shooting a tire mid-pursuit has an incredibly low chance of hitting it's mark, as well as if it DID manage to hit it's mark, the car could spin out of control and hit pedestrians, other cars, a home, etc.

surely you’d rather the cops risk killing other drivers on the road or kill the suspect
The fact is that the cops have been completely removed from decision making. They cannot take initiative. Any tactical move MUST be approved by a higher up in a response room before it can be executed, and of course the opportunity is gone by the time the decision gets made.
They could use this as a training video. So many missed opportunities put so many lives in danger, not to mention the completely avoidable home invasion.

Exactly, it could have ended up with a hostage situation.
It seems stupid is a qualification to be one of these cops.
The suspect was also quite lucky that he did this in California. In most of the country, he wouldn't have made it out of that house alive.
I simply do not understand why the police didn't move up and box the van closer in. The more distance between allows greater ramming force. Seriously this case is the most insane chase ever. The helicopter 🚁 narrations were excellent.
They had a few chances to ram the vehicle and put him out of order and blew it completely. 1:02:14 seemed like a perfect opportunity for one police car to ram him hard.
They are completely incompetent and need retrained or demoted. They should have shot the tires.
I can only assume that the first cop that arrived behind the parked van had no idea how desperate the driver was. The first time the van backed into the police car, the cop should have used deadly force!
That was my thought too, pin him to the wall instead of backing up. Is that their training tactic?
It's California that might have hurt his feelings or made him feel unsafe.
