One of the most common questions I get when it comes to sales is, ""Do you need any past experience to get started in sales.""
The quick and simple answer No.
You see, most companies understand that if you're looking to start a career in sales, it's unlikely you'll have any sales experience.
Sales isn't something they usually teach in school.
So what does it actually take to become a sales development rep, business development rep, or even account executive?
Well, when it comes to B2B sales, a majority of the job is to do b2b sales prospecting. This is typically an entry-level sales job where you'll reach out to potential prospects via cold email, LinkedIn or cold calling and schedule an appointment.
Although, it's not necessarily a glamorous sales career, lead generation is one of the most vital parts of any sales organization structure.
Make sure to watch this video until the end to find out how you can get started in sales either as a salesperson or an entrepreneur.

Not sure how I ended up on your video Mr Dang but nice work!
If I can throw out some advice? Any career minded serious "sales" related person will LOVE advice. If you dont...you should chose another career path. Listen to what Mr Dang is saying. Listen closely.
Stay HUMBLE. Understand that a modern sales person is like an athlete. You will be judged on your latest ERA or batting average totals. Employers want to see your success and college really doesnt equate. Whatever you "sold" be it a product or solution, what was your success rate at doing it? Were you a PROFITABLE REVENUE STREAM PRODUCER? Unless you have the money to become a doctor, lawyer or some other 4 year degree, sales provides a path to earn $150k per year with dedication and commitment. Even a poor kid whos first sales job is selling cars to friends at a corner lot can progress over the years to eventually make a substantial income. Sales is a no excuse career and by nature a best fit for people who are NO EXCUSES type personalities. Your success will be determined more by YOUR commitment and drive than in other careers dependent on others to perform. Stay humble and keep learning. Keep reading. Keep LISTENING and talking to others about the disciplines and arts of the sale. Work that crappy door to door job like its your last! I have no college degree and started 20 years ago selling garbage. I learned not only what I LIKED but also what I didnt like which is equally important. First 10 years I was lucky to clear $45k each year. Years 10-15 I bumped up to about $60k per year at various sales jobs. Not until about 8 years ago did I really start making big boy money. It took years to get here. Accepting the advisement of great mentors and just learning learning learning.
Keep at it and someday you will have enough years of great ERA and batting averages to land something really good. Dont settle! Keep pushing and fighting to learn.
Good luck to anyone that reads this!

    Hey bro.
    Thanks for your nice video.
I wanna start my career path and i studied marketing.
I wanna know that which path has more bright future, marketing or sales?
All the time everyone talk about sales commissions.are these commissions as good as everyone says?

    • @patrickdang
      @patrickdang  3 роки тому

Sales commissions are good if you're working at a good company. Both marketing or sales are good career paths in my opinion. But if you like talking to people and want to learn the skillset of b2b sales, then sales is a good route.

It won’t hurt to get a degree, but go with the cheapest option possible. Go to community college first if need be, go part time and work, etc. If you don’t know what degree you want, get a general degree in business. No matter what you major in, make sure to build technical and people skills. Good luck youngsters 😊

I never been to college but you're never to young to make money and exercise sales skills on your own. The sooner you start in your present the better you'll be in your future

Hey Patrick , Love from India❤️, Your video is really informative, I'm also buying your B2B selling course on Udemy. But I just have few confusions in my mind which are holding me back. Can you please answer me Do I really need a degree to start a career(even its irrelevant for sales) in sales. Do I need any college experience or I can just start without college? Just answer me If you got some time. I'll really appreciate that.
