Also note to fix/clairfy, according to iFixIt the resolution of the Vision Pro is 3660 by 3200 for each eye making the overall resolution even higher:))
i have heard there are some other browsers you can used besides Safari on AVP. and if not as apps in their apps store.. a person could use the alternate browsers on an Ipad or Macbook that you synch to use? I am interested in viewing stereoscopic content on youtube with AVP.

Vision pro is 3680×3140 per eye not 3040x2060 you mentioned in the video, and Quest 3 has hands tracking functions too you can basically use your hands for basic app features without controllers

@@NBTJacklyn the quest 3 has hand tracking you know, even its predecessor the quest 2 had it as well and it actually works really well. So you could have saved yourself a lot of hassle with the controllers during the video lol. Its in the settings if you wanna check it out, should be pretty easy to find since its a very widely used feature with all meta quest headsets.
While it was mercifully free of distortion, I was disappointed at how dim the Vision Pro camera feed looked compared to the Quest. That surprised me. But I don't think either one should ever be used in public, lol. (And I'm no Luddite, I own a Quest 2.) Thanks for another informative video!
Seems that the white balance / HDR of the cameras need some adjustment to match lighting correctly. Could be a calibration issue, or some filter applied to the lenses to avoid glare peaks.
Im surprised they didn't mention this in the video, but using your quest outdoors in sunlight is a great way to ruin it. The controller tracking uses infrared cameras, which will be overloaded and destroyed in direct sunlight. I'm not sure how the vision pro fairs in sunlight, but I would personally avoid walking around with 3500 (for the base model) strapped to my face.
Nah I'm pretty sure it's because the cameras on the AVP are behind a thick black glass
@@arklave This isn't true at all. I'm sure you've confused the fact that if you let direct sunlight get into the lenses (the ones you look through), it'll focus light onto the display inside, ruining it. (Basically turning the lenses into a magnifying glass and your display into the ants it's burning) This will also happen with the Vision Pro.
A camera is a camera. Even if it's infrared. Putting those in direct sunlight is fine. Phones are in direct sunlight all the time and they also have cameras.
2 products completely designed for different productivity. And given the Vision Pro is over 7 times more expensive means it’s hard to compare. 💁🏼
Both products can do very similar things. So you CAN compare their performance. The price delta just makes the vision pro price embarrassing.

Another great video, nice work! (I have a Quest Go, Quest 2, and Quest 3; planning on purchasing a Vision Pro.) One thing to remember when comparing these headsets: while Meta lets you display multiple windows from your Mac (via Horizon Workrooms app, or the Virtual Desktop app, or the Immersed app) , you *cannot* multitask with those Mac windows *plus* other Quest apps simultaneously. Conversely, the Apple Vision Pro allows you to see *one* Mac window *plus* display multiple visionOS apps at the same time. Quest also natively lets you open three Meta Browser windows, or you could see the Meta Browser + Quest Settings panes + Horizon Feed, or Store, etc. but you can’t run another app side-by-side with the Quest’s “home desktop” view. So you need to choose what your work scenario would be, versus primarily a gaming device. When people say “the Quest 3 can do that”, it really depends on what you mean.
Hi, with a recent update you can continue to see your immersed/3D applications like Remote Desktop and using others Quest applications in the same time. For example you can view the immersed remote desktop, use your keyboard and mouse to control your computer and watching a video in the Quest internet browser in the same time.
Also to control your computer you have the option to use the "Meta Quest Remote Desktop" app to connect to your Mac or your Windows, it is a normal 2D Quest application (like the one on the Vision Pro) that you can use in the same time than all Others Meta applications. Only one remote screen in the time with this one.
You can use as well many other Android apps you have SideLoaded but it is for more advanced users.

The fact that Vision Pro doesn’t support 360 video is ridiculous. That was like one of the first things anyone has ever done in VR.

I have both the quest three and the vision, pro and the last few nights. I’m trying to get some good usage out of my Vision Pro there just not much to do, the games are simple cell phone games compared to the crazy games quest three has Yes Apple Vision Pro has a cool formative video about dinosaurs, and then if you go into Disney+, they have a few immersive videos like two that I already watched and besides that there’s not much to do. I was about to put them on right now to watch the dinosaur video for the third time and watch the same immersive videos over again, but if I don’t wanna watch a movie in these which I don’t the immersive videos are different but I’m not watching regular movies with the headset on. I only hope the future is brighter than right now. I really think version two is not too far away and mark my words they’re going to do two different things just like they did with the Apple gold watch it was just the first year, they made these extra fancy because it was the first year but the second version will no longer have the glass in the front to see your eyes. That’s a big waste of money that probably cost the end-user $1000 and two will come with controllers which are needed, because without games your VR dies. The market for people using VR for anything else is too small to sustain the market and I’m going to get 1000 comments about saying Apple Vision Pro is not for games right now it’s not for anything there’s not much you could do with Apple Vision Pro besides watch a few cool movies And play a few very boring Apple games and the 5% going to use them for work could not keep the market float not gonna happen. They are going to have to catch up to the quest three with all the things you could do. Apple Vision Pro is only a little bit clearer than the quest three not that much. also, the Vision Pro is not family friendly. They make it very difficult to share. Like I said I love tech. I have tech everywhere and I’m going to keep these because it’s not going to make a break me but if you were young and someone looking to save up, the quest three will probably fit 95% of the people better than the Vision Pro there games that are so clear on the quest three that blow me away even things that are not games. Every time I put on the quest three I find something different interesting that keeps me entertained the whole night. I’ve only had division, pro, two nights and both nights. I’m watching the same stuff over and over that tells you something, hopefully I get my review out there pretty soon too all right going to bed everyone ciao

Love the comparison! Long time Quest 2 + Virtual Desktop user here mostly for wireless PCVR gaming, Im not interested in the AVP yet but definitely curious to see what improvements will be made and how it can be useful in all aspects of my life, but for now the Quest is good enough for the VR experience here and there

Om Windows, the Quest app is great for handling multiple monitors etc. I would assume they also made the Quest app for MacBook.
Again, the Apple headset is 7 times as expensive, so is it 7 times as good?
It’s a weird opinion , you can buy a Samsung phone in 200 dollars and you also can buy a Samsung phone in 1400 dollars, the 1400 dollars phone is 7 times as good as the 200 dollars phone? And both phones can do exactly the same things, calling, taking pictures, sending messages…etc.
@@markhsu1182 You pay for squeezing the specs out of the phone, and probably newer processor, where the cheaper is based on last generation. But no, it's not worth it as you will wear down battery, scratch screen etc anyway, it will just be more expensive to repair. Only thing I can see Apple do better with than the Quest is the pass trough and the processing power. The rest is the same.
@markhsu1182 The 1400 samsung phone is 7 times better. The display is much better, the performance and smoothness is much better, the software support is better and significantly longer and you get an spen which is great for taking notes and writing/using as an accurate stylus
That’s subjective to the user. I have both the Quest 3 and the Apple Vision Pro. For gaming, the Quest 3 is much better. For pass through AR, immersive video, and general productivity, the Vision Pro is much better. Depending upon your needs, each one would fit a different purpose.

The meta quest 3 is like $100 smart phone you get in the pay as you go mobile plans while AVP is like flagship phone. You can do almost everything with the quest 3 but there is jank where as apple said screw keeping cost low and got the components needed to pull the tech off smoothly.
sort of ....more like $500 flagship killer phone ....vs $1500 flagship
but not quite like that since the difference in resolution and in the power of the chips is quite a lot in this case
It's the android phone v the apple phone. One does a lot more for the users that want it, the other is an extremely expensive device that focuses on smooth experience over user freedom.
That's how it is now with Q3 and AVP

Love how the quest competes with and/or beats Vision in most categories. 7x the price put definitely not 7x better. Also the Quest 3 has hand tracking too, you don't have to use the controllers for everything.
I knew quest does mostly the same stuff, but I think camera and passthrough are the worst parts of it in comparison. It’s mostly for gaming in complete VR, and it will take a lot of time and effort to catch up with cameras to Apple who is the best in cameras.

MISSED the social aspect !!! In Apple Vision Pro you are ALONE but Quest 3 is very SOCIAL place for playing games, watching movies or just hanging out with friends !!!

The virtual display is only 4k if it's taking a large fraction of your FOV. What's the resolution at a normal viewing distance/size? Should be easy to calculate.
Yes these headsets are 'mobile' but I don't think walking around while wearing them is really part of their use case at the moment. People may go to a coffee shop and use them but no one is actually going to walk around with one. Unless they are a douch. :)
when outside ...don't expose the lenses to direct sunlight ....u can burn the display like with a magnifying glass

Immersed setup is definitely not intuitive, but the performance is pretty solid. I've tried it with both an older i9 MBPro and a newer M1 MacMini, both were really solid. Great comparison, BTW. Thanks for the video.

What i get from review based on day to day life:-
1, Apple's product vision pro is more focused on day to day life productivity and what not.
2, Facebook's product seems to confused whether it wants to be in gaming or in productivity, because because it productivity apps and multiple laptop screen share are quite laggy.

It's because she used a mac with the meta quest 3. Apple products do not play well with other tech. Apple only wants you to use Apple.

Insane! Now I'm curious as to which one is better for air travel. Both the IFE experience and lugging it around wherever you're going.
Currently, the Apple is better for air travel as the Meta Quest has issue being used on vehicles (including planes) when moving. Meta says they are working on an update to resolve the issue, but until they do, you can't use the Meta Quest on planes, trains and automobiles.
Actually you can use the Quest when traveling, I’ve traveled around the world with it. Just turn off tracking and you can continue watching movies and play games that doesn’t require full tracking. Makes long flights very entertaining
@@jegorius Even with turning tracking off... it helps but if the vehicle you're in begins making turns... the screens in your view drift. If the Vehicle however goes straight... it does ok. Meta acknowledged this and said they are in the process of releasing an update that would fix this issue.

99 percent of what the Vision Pro does has been done on other headsets before.
The Quest 3 does 90 percent of that for only 500 dollars. Yes, the hardware is better on the vision pro, but it's not 3000 dollars better.
Its very bright at 8.18 and i can see your eyes through the AVP, which is kinda weird with many youtubers saying there struggling to see....eyes in even low light 🤔

You should have updated the quest. They fixed the warping months ago. Trust me i use the quest for work and i can read all my paperwork. p.s. Lighting really effects both headsets.
Literally just bought it for this video so it was the out of box version from this month!!:)
@@NBTJacklyn Sometimes it takes a couple days to get the updates. The last week and a half they been rolling out the newest update so it might take a little longer.. I would say make sure you're on V60-v62 and then give it another shot.
The Quest 3 also has bigger field of view, sharp screen all over including the edges, faster WiFi/internet speed, longer battery use time, controllers AND hand tracking 👌 Oh and you can also have your phone fully functional inside Quest using Immersed 📱
Another huge bonus for quest is the availability and affordable 3rd party accessories. With my quest 3 I got a bobovr head band and 3 magnetic rechargeable batteries I can swap in and out during sessions. Using the recharger and cycling them, I could probably go as long as I wanted. With the vision pro however you are tethered to the power source, so even if you spend an extra 200 per battery, you still have to shut it all down and plug the Fresh one in to start back up. Prolonging the quests power is far cheaper/better than its much more expensive counterpart.

Great review. This is an exactly the non bias report I was looking for. Ironically, the Vision Pro may lead me to purchasing the quest 3 simply because, although the VP is expensive, Apple has made this cool. So all the people hating on the VP don’t really get the good it’s doing the entire industry as a whole. And let’s be fair, it really needed this kind of boost. Before the VP, I would’ve never even considered looking at a quest. Is that my fault, absolutely, but it’s just the reality.
good comparasion actually probably the best and most fair one i seen and you do some research too
1-avp is better that the quest in what it can do similar, but have limited use cases and not that much develop in new features and 3rd party apps, bad vr, (like no warnings, no controllers for comands, u move a little and it turns passthrough forcefully) and hand tracking works as fine as quest almost but still not reliable for your main imput in both headsets, vr is mostly just for envoirments in the vision pro
2-quest, can do the same but worse, plus have more use cases and areas, gaming, social, fitness, immersive vr (moving, interacting on virtual worlds), almost no restrigtions, more compatibility, pcvr, a developed app ecosystem, also amazing sideload features
with the vision pro winning, the hardware diference that u will notice the most is:
eye tracking (cursor-wise)
prossesing power (multitasking 5 screens vs 12)
camera (6.5 vs 8 in terms of stars)
screen (ppi, ppd, and resolution 2.3 times better)
as veteran mxr user, screen alone is the killer factor that i envy so much, everything else is dispensable or just luxury, acceptable for the price difference
still usable tho, *your normal tv vs a 4k hdr one*
some missunderstanding i see ppl have:
both can passthrough
both can hand tracking on menu etc, touch directly
both can multitasking
both can play 3d media
both can record 3d passthrough (quest need sideload for activate this tho)
both can play spatial video
both can do AR
both can scann and map your home
both can spatial audio (but avp is better)
Seeing that they can do so much of the same thing probably made meta realize how bad their advertising has been.
but try to copy apple advertising suddenly is something that i dont aprove
Vpro is 90hz 96hz and 100hz ...96 is for upscaling movies from 24fps ...the others I guess depends no how demanding is what u r doing .....there is also dynamic foveated rendering .....and it has far more powerful dual chips running it
q3 is 90hz and 120hz depending on if the developer has implemented it and how demanding is the app and sometimes it has static foveated rendering but it's low amount of blur on the edges
Meta has a remote desktop client in beta test and it's far easier to set up, but still has some definite quirks, especially if you use a 4K monitor.
As for productivity, well, only if you use Macs. Quest work on both.
A lot of newer tech reviewers to the vr world and its not just you may not know it but the quest 3 actually has really good hand tracking like the vision pro. Hand tracking has been around on meta headsets for years, well before the Apple Vision Pro was a thing or even before the apple vision pro's development, you just have to enable it in the settings its super easy to find. So all the times in the video you were not using an app or playing a game requiring the controllers you could have used your hands lol.
I met a guy in VRChat over 3 years ago. He modify source code of handtracking and write extension APK for VRChat to work with Quest 2 hand tracking.

I laughed when she had the quest controllers out in the grocery store. It has 2D apps like Facebook messenger and a web browser you could use with hand tracking in mixed reality. I did try the AVP and the tracking methods were impressive, as was the resolution, but that's not $3000 better. Developers and Power apple users is who this is for.
You know I had the Samsung gear VR back in the day, and the pastor was not that good because it still didn't feel real. Basically I'm saying that my brain did not comprehend everything that was their properly like it normally would.
When paying so much money, people will use it the way they want to use it.
Even if that means driving a car with it.
OS is the biggest different and Apple wins all the time for sure

You coulde have compared the hand-tracking. I think it works better on the Quest 3
I've purchased multiple vr headsets from the original rift to the index and I wouldn't waste your money, It's fun for a little while but gets REALLY boring really quickly..
Mainly due to the lack of good games and any games that are good are now almost 17 years old so you have played them to death. META admit their biggest problem is people buy a headset then don't return to it or use it and they are 100000% correct..
I sold my index because it was collecting dust then I purchased the quest pro for £600 in the sales used it twice and I have not picked it up again in 2 years because it has the same boring games as the original quest!!
I was a huge fan of vr but there is no point in it if there are no games and there have been 8k headsets for a while and sales SUCK, even if they made apple vision pc compatible there isn't anything to do.. I'd sooner buy 2X 70 inch 8k TVs for my house than an apple vision and I absolutely hate apple software or interface so definitely NOT for me.
The Quest 3 does not have a 12ms latency. They don't have an official number, but unofficially, people have gotten around 50ms playing a reaction game and comparing the numbers to their speed without a headset.

Lol I was worried when she was holding the headsets upside down so that the lenses would face up. The sun is the worst enemy for the quest 3 lenses from my understanding
Meta quest 3s is rumoured to in development more cheaper version of the quest 3
Anyone watching this video thinking you can take either of these devices outside and wave them around with the lenses up will be looking at disapointment. If the sun hits those lenses then the screens will get burned in an irreparable way. It was uncomfortable viewing.

Note: Trying to compare an Apple Vision Pro to a Meta Quest 3 is like trying to compare a Hellcat to a Charger GT. They both look the same and have similar functionality but, it’s all about what is underneath the hood. Make sense, notice how the Hellcat costs way more. 😉👌
Note: I have a Quest 3, and I am happy. I would ❤️ to own an Apple Vision Pro. But, it just costs way more than I am willing to spend. Maybe, later, when prices come down. You know products tend to lose their value pretty quickly once the new ones come out. Good things come to those who wait. Speaking of which, I just picked up a Quest Pro for $375. I'm about to try it out! Heck, yeah! I'm excited. 😉👌

Honestly, If Apple and Meta partnered… and created a headset with IOS platform/hardware with Meta’s games and controllers … I would definitely buy it. It would be the perfect headset.. more features for us to experience with… but we all know that will never happen..

I'm not sure what the pointof the VR in the grocery store was about. I really didn't see anything of significance just you wearing the VR headset. Looking at the ingredients as if you would normally without the VR headset unless I'm missing something

The AVP is way too expensive for what you can do currently, and the main problem with Apple is Apple, they rely so much on their eco-system that it leaves no room for anyone, NetFlix, Prime will never be integrate into their their stores, they actually force you to use AppleTV and an AVP without a MacBook Pro or an iPhone 15 will serve you like a simple iPad in your face.
Meta focuses on one product at a time. They should have had two headsets, a Quest 3 and a Quest 3 Pro with more expensive OLEDs. but they wanted a product that was as inexpensive as possible to reach as many people as possible. Now they seem to be putting all their energy into their AI-connected glasses. With their massive layoffs, updates are becoming rarer and production is slower.
In short, we can't compare a $500 product to $3,500 product, it's like comparing a Lada to a Ferrari. it's incomparable.
