@SimpleLife2.000 100$ would get you all you'd ever need.
And I'm talking a better headstrap with powerbank, hand ties for controllers, and a long cable for pcvr.
None of which is necessary, mind you. A powerbank isn't needed when using a cable. A cable isn't needed with a good wifi connectivity, hand ties are mostly for sport-type games.
Only the headstrap is a significant improvement, because the default one isn't exactly comfortable. Somehow Apple managed to make theirs even worse than Meta's
Just be frank with yourself, if you were truly in the market there is absolutely no way you'd be using vision pro over any of the quests (or other headsets, for that matter). And I mean any. Not because of build quality, value or anything else, no. But because of software support and quest's better input method for the available software.

To his point, Zuck actually told no lies. The problem is, "better product" is kinda subjective. And what he _didn't_ say was that the Quest 3 was "more technologically advanced". And I highly doubt anyone is cross-shopping the two.

I am. But as I see it Q3 seems to give practically the same experience, with a bit less shine, but also offers a number of other experiences the AVP isn't able to do yet. So the Q3 with 1.5 grand placed in each Apple & Meta stock is a better option than buying the AVP. At least, that's the conclusion I'm coming to

    • @Stone815

@@Stone815 When students would argue over which was "better" between Xbox & PlayStation, I'd ask them what their favorite games were. Regardless of specs, a PlayStation wouldn't be "better" for the Halo player, and vice versa for the God of War fan. If we're to consider the Quest 3 as a gaming-first device, and the AVP a productivity-first device, the question _should_ be "which is better at its intended purpose?" And that answer is arguable either way.

Which is more productive, three 1080p Windows monitors vs one 4k Mac monitor?
Not everything is equal. Some products are better than others overall. But that may change in future generations.

I get your point, but disagree with the analogy. When it comes to the Quest vs AVP, it just makes sense to ask which is best for gaming, and which is best for productivity. Then, we can evaluate how well they each accomplish that goal. What's "best" for the consumer is what fits their needs.
That said, at this time, I wouldn't buy a Quest 3 for productivity, and I wouldn't buy an AVP for games.

Tbf Meta's Hand tracking is perfectly accurate, it's just that our hands aren't designed to be that steady, when we pinch our entire hand moves slightly making the curser move, but technically speaking, the hand tracking detects those micro movements and the quest tracks it accurately as intended.
Tho, that doesn't make for a great user experience so Meta should move to eye tracking for the next headset, too.

I'm not so impressed by the eyetracking. I'm used to do one things with my hands and look at another thing, which means that's almost a no-go with the VP: you have to pin your eye on the icon to activate it. It works well from what I have seen in the countless videos I watched, but it can lead to mistakes as well. Maybe the option to turn it off and just use the headset to pinpoint with a headmovement and activate it with a hand gesture or pinch would be better. You can do that while searching with your eyes the next icon. Improvements are on their way, so I've heard.

Apple has done what they always do, force you to do it their way. In a perfect world you would have the choice of both hand/eye tracking and controllers. META went with controllers because it is more accurate and cheaper than incorporating eye tracking. Sony PSVR2 has eye-tracking but it exists to center where the system focuses graphic quality. The AVP is a great flex to show where AR/MR headsets should be going but it is not the best device to get us there. I think META made he better decision on where to start with the device and the sales kind of prove that. They can create better UI experiences in the current device while figuring out how to keep costs down while bringing in as much functionality as they can fit. Apple's desire to control everything may be the thing that kills AVP. I just don't think this mindset is going to work well with MR headsets. There's to many ways in which only working in the Apple Ecosystem is going to hinder there ability to expand.

He forgot to mention the haptic feedback u have on Quest 3 and the sensation of holding something like a pistol, racket etc in your hand, also that the Quest 3 has much less motion blur when moving the head from side to side in passthrough mode and that the handtracking of Vision Pro has a delay in games as its only tracked with 30hz, which u dont have on Quest.
And u notice the screendoor Effekt only on white backgrounds otherwise its basicly invisible on Quest 3. Also the immersive Videos are the same side by side 3d or 180°/360° 3d videos on both plattforms. Apple even baught the company NextVR who previously made 180° 3D Videos for Quest, besides 180° 3d VR P°rn Videos for Quest are some of the sharpest and most immersive Videos there are.

Apple Vision Pro is cool but I have issues with it. The visuals on AVP are amazing! The passthrough almost feels like your looking directly through glass(in a well lit room). The eye tracking and pinching is like magic. That said the visuals are great but FOV is small. You notice this as AVP slides down your face and looking up or to the side gets uncomfortable. The passthrough gets crappy when not in a well lit room so using it around other people is an issue. The hand and eye tracking are great but from time to time you look at and pinch stuff on accident. Quest is also amazing. The hand tracking is difficult and feels inaccurate the further a window is from you. The passthrough is nice but it's like looking through a screen door. The FOV is nice and visuals are ok but it won't replace a TV. I love the spatial aspect of the apps in AVP, but I like the social apps in quest better. I like watching movies on AVP but I love big screen in Quest better due to the social aspect. The 180/360 "immersive videos" are amazing in AVP but Quest has been doing 180/360 VR videos from the beginning. Apple trying to rebrand it as if it's something new feels like a lie. The UI in AVP is best in class and after using it to be honest it makes using Quest UI depressing. If you use headsets often the weight of AVP won't bother you as much but the number of mods for Quest make it best in class when it comes to comfort. If quest refreshes the UI, upgrade the screens and allow more 2d or flat apps so we can multitask in a spatial environment I would stick with Quest. If AVP manages to come down in price to 1500 - 2000 for me quest is a dead product.

Even if vision pro cost 500 dollars it would still be a useless product compared to quest 3. There is no use for it and it is alone a worse product than the quest 3. Why would anyone watch movies from bulky and heavy headset which has a wire and a brick attached to it. Same goes for working, why would anyone use it if it's that uncomfortable, only 2h battery life and you can only have 1 mac screen which isn't productive at all for working. There isn't a single use case scenario which AVP would be useful. That's confirmed by the fact that everyone returned their AVP and the people who didn't never use it. Apple literally canceled all new models because nobody used it, bought it or developed any apps for it. Even youtube couldn't bother making a app for avp.

I don't have to choose which version I want. I have both. I can have the higher graphic experience or the to go experience.

You do realize that there are now really good mixed reality games on the Meta Quest where you do run around your house ... games like "the Cabin" where you fight zombies breaking into your home from your own windows and doors! And with regards to the battery and the wire... once you go full wireless, it's hard to be tethered again.

There's already quite a few post on the apple vision pro reddit of people that got their cable snagged in a door handle or the corner of a table, ofc this thing is already so heavy they can't really add the battery to it, but it'd be ideal if they managed to. Also you're not really gaming on the AVP it's mostly intended as an AR headset you're kinda meant to walk around with it otherwise what's the pont of having an amazing pass-through, so the cable is a small annoyance.

This was a great comparison! Although you should have acknowledged your inability to tolerate the weight is NOT the norm. The problem I have with most of these comparisons is that the AVP didn’t FIX the Quest 3. The main barriers to mass adoption of VR headsets were motion sickness, the warped, trippy pass through, laggy responses, overall general pixelation and blurriness when in VR. They sat on the shelves of Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Amazon so were readily available. The Apple Vision Pro does not have these issues while many other headsets do. They can be fixed but they are MAJOR obstacles. These issues have not been mentioned since AVP release. The conversation has shifted exclusively to the AVP’s weakest capabilities. The possibility of throwing up wearing the Quest still exists and should not be ignored.

    • @SusmitDS
      @SusmitDS 3 місяці тому +9

As good as Vision Pro is, it is no where close to a real productivity machine. With $3500, you can have a PC with RTX 4090 with a multi monitor setup and a Quest 3 to add if you need some 3D modelling type workflow, which is going to you several times the productity use cases of a Vision Pro. Constant VR headset usage for work that may take hours at a stretch and relies on your eyes is a sure fire way to end up with chronic headaches. Till, we have real AR with the same level performance in smart glass type of devices, it won't really be an option.

  • @bobwitmer2492

I still say if you want to do an honest product comparison review you would select the Quest Pro to compare with the Vision Pro. They both have eye tracking and were designed for the Professional market. There’s a reason that car reviewers don’t compare a F150 to a Smartcar, it’s a pointless comparison.
If you really want to know what the better product is, give each to 100 normie users for 1 hour and ask them to rate them. I don’t have the data but I’m confident that the Apple would be rated far better (but they wouldn’t want either, yet). The seed would be planted though and I think that’s Apple’s plan. Create hardware with the best displays and high resolution eye tracking available today, layout the UI design so it’s intuitive and doesn’t make users nauseous so you can give them a good first experience (they want it but can’t afford it or it’s too uncomfortable). Now you have something to convince app developers, premium content providers, live sports and entertainment providers to develop content for. They know they can drive down the price and make them smaller (more comfortable) in the future. In the end the VR/AR industry wins or loses based on Apple’s success. I don’t understand the Question fans willing the Vision Pro to fail.
I’ve demonstrated the Quest 2/3 to many family and friends. They kind of think it’s cool but they either get nauseous, can’t stand the comfort or think the game graphics are lame. Many Quest 2/3 users liked them for a bit but gave up on them. Meta has tried for years to make a compelling product and failed. I’m hoping Apple’s strategy succeeds even if I don’t buy a Vision Pro.
