F150 Radiator Fans Stay on HIGH when A/C is on - Loud Truck / Car Solved

- Out of nowhere my Ford F150's radiator fans started staying on high when I turned on my A/C. If you're having this issue you know it's annoying as its super loud and impossible to order anything in a drive thru without shutting off the vehicle. In this video I got through the steps I took to try to fix and what ended up eventually fixing it.
Cabin Air Filter (F150 15-19): amzn.to/40kQkmK
50/50 Coolant: amzn.to/3FVqg9J
A/C Test Thermometer: amzn.to/3TLasvP
Date of Activity: Fall '22 thru March 25, 2023
Appreciate your humor
Sometimes it’s the only thing that helps us get through these types of issues
😊
I added coolant and a new air cabin filter and it solved the problem
Awesome, glad to hear. That's the cheaper of the fixes.
My 2014 is having same issue. Refrigerant pressure looks good from low side port… I still have more troubleshooting to do… total pita. Good video though
You end up finding the problem?
@@weekendhomeprojects yep - system was actually overcharged, had a little over 2 pounds of refrigerant… mechanic bled down, put a vac on system to check for leaks (and added dye), and then recharged to specified amount… all has sense been well.
@@Bluezkat1 Awesome, thanks for sharing.
Same issue with my 2013. Had my high pressure AC sensor replaced and Freon evac/recharged. Seemed to be fixed, started truck a few hours later..fan still blowing hard.
Dang, that stinks. Mines still good 3 months later. Let us know if you end up finding out what it is.
Ever got this fixed? Had the exact same issue and fix on my 2011 and its back now.
I have a 2013 and I replaced my thermostat thinking it would work. It did not. My thermostat was old and needed to be replaced anyways. PS: Use a motorcraft thermostat and not aftermarket as that will also cause the fan to run on high constantly
We got our ac serviced too and it fixed it as well. But today it did the loud fan once for some reason :(
Maybe you have a leak worse than mine? Did they put dye in it so they can check if you start having problems again?
Thanks so much 🙏 ❤
Thanx
You having a similar problem?
Have same problem had first warm 72° day thought I would turn on AC to cool off cab and fans immediately came on high and no cool air coming out will try recharging and see if fans go off. If they go off I guess I will have to start searching for the leak
After I recharged last spring (this video), I haven't had any issues since. My compressor is still rattling, which is where I may have slowly lost my refrigerant.
Airplane takes off every time I turn on AC. Hopefully mine is just because of low refrigerant as well.🤞
Mine as soon I start mine fans go on full blast with the a/c on or off don't turn off till I turn truck off
My 2014 does the same thing. So far, haven't found a fix.
My F150 started doing this of all places the ac stopped working in Death Valley.. it didn't start until I turned the ac on I tried refilling refrigerant it didn't work either
That’s a bad place for it to happen. Mines still going good from last springs “service”. The compressor is still clicking but I’ll let it do that until it goes out since a that’s a $500-800 fix.
So mine has the fan problem but my ac is very cold
Thx you for this video
You’re leaking coolant from one of the tubes/pipes!
They ran a dye test and didn’t find any. It’s been a year and 1) Still blowing cold and 2) Compressor still rattling when A/C on. So it’s barely holding on.
what is the main cause of it cause i have the same issue
Leaking Freon. Likely form the compressor, which is showing signs of going out. However, I got a "recharge" 1.5 years ago and everything's still going ok.
Low a/c charge will not set your cooling fans to high all the time..
Anytime I turned on the A/C my fans were on high, even if I turned off the A/C. They didn’t stop until I turned off the vehicle. Once I got the refrigerant level checked and at proper levels, the problem stopped. That was in April and it’s now August. Everything still good to go.
I just ordered my 4th expansion valve today for my 3rd fleet truck. I have seen 3 of them stick shut and drive the high side up to the point of having high fans run all the time. One of the first ones i saw was stuck so bad the the pressures wouldn't equalize even after the truck was shut off. This one today seems to be partially stuck, pressures will equalize but very slow. You really should have 2 different problems if it was a low charge. anyway this is what is see among my fleet trucks.@@weekendhomeprojects
@@stacyrethman9532 Thanks for the info. While researching I had come to the conclusion it was an expansion valve. But after I got the refrigerant pulled out, measured and filled back up it stopped. So fingers crossed. My compressor is rattling still. So maybe that’s how it lost refrigerant?
That or maybe you parked in a shady neighborhood and got jacked for your refrigerant, happens far more often than you'd think here in Yakima, Washington, especially this time of year. They'll steal anything that's not bolted down, R134A, R1234yf, doesn't matter which.
@@weekendhomeprojects yep, put 3 expansions valves on last week..
hey thats the same car who hit my 6 year old, are you the same guy? im sueing you
I’m suing you. Kid messed up my bumper, the dust shield below my engine and my muffler. A/C was still blowing cool afterwards tho.
@@weekendhomeprojects my lawyer is saul goodman
@@catgaming357 Mines John Milton and Kevin Lomax. They’ll be in touch.
