  • Take a look at this Bachmann 1:20.3 Mogul that is sure to amaze with its stunning detail. This model is a symbol of Bachmann's commitment to excellence and includes many features not found from other manufactures. With a high amount a detail, superior running performance, and 4 different road names to choose from, you may consider adding one of these models to your Large Scale railroad.
    This review took longer than expected as upon opening my model I found that it had been improperly packed from factory and suffered damage during transit. With help from Al over at Roll-EZ Wheels (where I purchased the model) and a call to Bachmann Trains, I was able to get replacement parts to fix the model and bring it back to pristine condition. A big thanks to Bachmann for their excellent customer service.

    I have the Emma Nevada tooling of this locomotive. She spins her wheels tomorrow with track arriving tomorrow. Bachmann Spectrum did an amazing job with these models. They look so real.

      I was tempted to get the Emma Nevada myself, but just thought it was too flashy for my collection. It's still a stunning model nonetheless and these 2-6-0's in general are a sight to behold. As I mentioned before, a bit pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for in terms of quality. I saw UA-camr Jim Zim bought himself one of these, although his came with DCC and sound installed. I'm yet to get the module and do the conversion to save myself the cost of having someone else do it.

      Someday I’m going to mail my engine to a place called Reindeer pass we’re they’ll install the sound unit for me. It’s to complicated to do it myself. And I’m looking to pay extra for them to do it. And I trust they’ll take good care of this detailed expensive model. I recommended a Phoenix sound unit as it has the most prototypical sounds these kinds of 2-6-0 moguls had. I got Emma Nevada because I’m a fan of Walt Disney and animator Ward Kimball who had this locomotive in full size in his backyard railroad named the Grizzly Flats Railroad. I have yet to get the other and smaller locomotive Ward had on the GFRR, the Chloe by LGB.

      I’m a little mesmerized that this locomotive has 2 cross head pumps on both the engineer and fireman’s side. Emma Nevada doesn’t have those sadly. I don’t think the real one did. But I like the Westin house break pump. And that diamond shaped smoke stack.

    The 'cat' controller instead of the FAT controller. Very nice

    I need some help on something. Is it possible to find G Scale models at hobby shops. I have been unable to find G Scale sets online.
    Please give me some information on some best places to find G Scale train models.

    • @PlowBenderStudios
      @PlowBenderStudios  3 роки тому

      When it comes to hobby shops, each one is different. G scale is not as common as scales such as N, HO, and O, so some retailers my be reluctant to stock a lot of it. It's more so to do with the fact that if something isn't selling as quickly, it's going to sit there taking up shelf space, and retailers only really want to stock things that sell well. I know my hobby shop has an entire room dedicated to G scale, but a lot of the stock there predates 2010. They haven't stocked anything made recently.
      I purchase a lot of my G scale items from Trainworld.com because they have some of the best prices. I just had a browse of their site and they do have quite a few G scale starter sets which most are under $400. Just from what I've seen, G scale starter sets seem to be limited anymore. I know for a fact Bachmann once had over a dozen starter sets, but in the last 5 years has gotten away from them due to the high RRP and lack of sales. USA Trains has starter sets as well, but their over $800 each and again the selection is limited. LGB and Piko aren't bad, but you really need to shop around as they are more popular manufactures and the prices can reflect that.

    Are you still happy with this engine? And have you had any issues with it! It is beautiful engine I must say! Thinking on it! Do you just run it Dc or Dcc? Thanks

      I can honestly say I regard this model as one of the favorites in my collection. The only issue I've had with it is that the cooling fan underneath the firebox started making a hellish noise, but it was covered under Bachmann's warranty and didn't cost me anything to replace. I recently added a DCC and sound to the model, but because of the simple plug and play electronics interface, it's easy just to reinstall the original board and the model goes back to being analog. It makes things a lot easier compared to wiring and soldering in a board.

    I’d like to run a bluerail board so I can run it off my phone, would that be possible on this model and to do deadrail?

    • @PlowBenderStudios
      @PlowBenderStudios  2 роки тому

      These units are set up to run off battery or track power, but I'm not sure the exact details on how to do so. I did see one UA-camr who ran one of Bachmann's C-19 models off battery by hiding it in a gondola behind and then plugging an Aristo-Craft board into the PCB. Again I know it can be done, but I've never worked with it myself so I'm not sure how to go about doing it.

      The model is 4.5" at the widest point (being the cross head pumps) and 7.5" from the rail head to the top of the smokestack.

    • @PlowBenderStudios
      @PlowBenderStudios  2 роки тому

      If you want one of these units, Roll-EZ wheels seems to be sold out. I'd check on Trainworld.com because they still have them for $600 which is still less than half the RRP. Best get one soon because I think these models may be on their way out in 2022.

    What is the Track Gauge? ( not the Scale!)
    Looks Identical to 3'6" Gauge class C15 Queensland Govt. Railways of 1880s Baldwin construct!
    1:24 scale Track would be 1-3/4 inch (45mm)...so a 1:20.3 reduction gives a very slight out-of -scale Rendition of the QGR Loco. 3,7/24x100==~~12% DIFFERENCE??? Or is my maths out???
    Would look great with an 1880s--1920s
    Cattle Train with Bogie, all Wood, scratch built Cars( only Buffers, coupler hooks, Bogie Stretchers, and Tie Bars are steel,) rest is high quality hardwood.
    Ah, it is to dream....

      It is meant to depict US narrow gauge which is 3 foot gauge, so just a little narrower that 3'6".
