I love this Video. When I first saw it was 55 mins long I thought I would never get through it. The opposite was the case, not only did I watch it in one go I went back and watched most of it again. It captures the scenery, the camaraderie and the reason people would walk close to 1,000km and be sad when it is over. Great Video.
Thank you Peter!! We are certainly missing our pilgrim family and had such a wonderful time! There are lots of reasons to walk the 1000km but we though the people was the best reason of all ✌️💛💙
I love this video i have done the the Camino 10 years ago and my dream would be doing it with my 3 adult children but alas not to be maybe with some grandkids. So uplifting well done
Hi, i rerally enjoyed watching your video, thanks for sharing Going on camino myself in 2 weeks, starting from my home in Belgium, will be walking for about 3 months to get to Finisterre, can't wait to see all these places 🙂
I hope the teens appreciated the journey in the end. They seemed to complain about being there and I felt that they didn't want to do this, and were forced to do it. It's not their idea of vacation or fun. Maybe they are not ready for enlightenment because they haven't lived a longer life. Hoping for a better additude in the end and a feeling of accomplishment and awakening. It was a beautiful thought to bring the teens along as long as they didn't stop you from completing your purpose. I would have loved to have this opportunity in my teens.
¡BUEN CAMINO! Saludos cordiales desde Barcelona.
Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed following your journey. Well shot vid and wonderfully put together. Truly inspirational. Maybe one day I might try myself. Thanks again.
Especially because of covid, I wouldn't want to share any toiletries with a few hundred people. I would definitely carry my own wipes. It's bad enough that some places have bed bugs. I imagine they get into your belongings and people carry them from bed to bed. Enjoying your journey and hoping the end was purposeful to all even if everyone experienced something that is personal to themselves.

I have just finished watching all the Camino journey. I stopped inside the first few minutes of this video because I am overwhelmed with a feeling of being both humbled and feeling absolutely inadequate. Your whole family achieved something special. And you gave me the gift of a valuable heads-up. When I walk the Camino I'll make sure I pack a folding toilet seat and a pop-up toilet tent. ( I'm not risking running a gauntlet of the poo-mined grassy areas of the Way. I like having white shoes too much. I didn't realise that you had walked in Scotland - I live in Edinburgh ( someone has to). So I'll watch more of your videos later . So thank you for making my day comfortable; made it feel worthwhile, too.
Great video thanks for sharing. It was lovely to see your family bonding over such a great experience. Got my Camino planned for May 2024. Cheers Adrian
Thank you for your lovely feedback! We really enjoy your videos and they helped us a lot with preparation and planning. All the best for your next Camino! ✌️💙💛
Thank you for sharing your Camino story. I just finished my 2nd one 2 weeks ago and felt every second of your video. On this trip I met my first Australien guy (age 74), and now that I met you on this channel makes me to travel down under. Your kids are the lucky ones who get this amazing experience to hike this wonderful path with their parents. Well done!
Thank you Dave! If you ever get the chance to to come to Australia there is some beautiful hiking and bushwalking here 😊 The kids certainly enjoyed it more than they thought they would. 👍💙💛
What a wonderful film. I walked the Camino Frances in April & May this year with my 15 year old son. Walking with family is a wonderful experience. You all have something you can look back on with a great sense of joy and love. Watching this makes me want to fill my pack and book a flight to Spain so I can be an Aussie Pilgrim once more. Buen Camino!
Thank you Grant 😄 How wonderful you got to do it with your 15 y.o too! Its such a great age to do it with your kids. We are already thinking about our next one too ✌️💙💛
I have just watched your hike as inspiration for our intended walk in September 2023. You two are just delightful to watch with your family and the increasing closeness of the four of you was so clear. Thank you for creating such an incredible diary and sharing it on UA-cam! You have done such a great job with editing - what did you use? Great music too. Now I can’t wait! Thank you so much. 🥰
Awe what a lovely comment thank you! I’m a novice with video editing 😋 but I used adobe premier pro and it’s pretty user friendly even for beginners! I wish you a Buen Camino for September ✌️💙💛
Camino with family is always awesome. Unforgettable time spend with your family. Thanks for sharing your journey. 41:00 I really like mama rules, no phone during the day while hiking. 👍. Stunning video. Buen Camino!!!
Aw thank you!! I watched your videos when we got back and your family is inspiring! What an amazing feat with younger ones!! It’s a wonderful thing to be able to do with family 💛💙 Buen Camino!!
I agree...if I were on this hike, I wouldn't be on a cellphone. I would attach a GoPro to capture the views. I would still carry a cellphone for emergencies, but I would want to disconnect and just walk, feel my surroundings, breathe the air, smell the air and allow all my senses to truly engage in this experience.
@@callumclairesadventures8793 hi yes that was where we met for a few days I was the bald guy. Glad you are well and nice tobest your videos ❤️ take care and thanks for the fond memory
Fantastic insight into your walk. Well done. Well written. Look forward to your info on gear etc. I’m 70ys old fit and healthy. Contemplating this walk in not too distant future. Many thanks for posting this 🤗🌞🌞🥲🤗
Thank you for your comment 😊 I think each persons Camino is different, for some Galicia and Santiago are the ultimate but for us the journey was of more significance than the final destination. It was the people we met and the bonding we did as a family for the 650km or so leading into this final beautiful stretch that impacted us the most. Also Callum became very unwell from Gonzar to Melide so filming was put to one side for this time. You might see more of this in my daily vlogs which I am putting out at the moment✌️💙💛
Thank you Callum and Claire's Adventures for sharing your beautiful journey. I'd sincerely appreciate your thoughts: To what extent do you think wild camping or camping in campgrounds is possible on the Camino Frances? My partner and I are experienced lightweight backpackers and already have our gear and would enjoy being able to camp part of the time and to occasionally stay in albergues and hotels. And do you think it would it be possible to do this while still meeting up with new friends for meals in town? We've also heard horror stories about how noisy some of the albergues can be at night, making it impossible to sleep, so that a tent for a good part of the time seems even more attractive (would you agree)?
Thank you Leigh 🙏 During our little journey we didn’t see anyone camping, I have heard of some people doing it but I think it may be illegal to camp along most sections of the frances? But I could be wrong on this 😊 I do think you may miss a lot of the pilgrim experience if you camped but it also depends on what experience you are looking for. We found our bonds with other pilgrims really strengthened along the Meseta in the albergues over meals at night. In terms of noisy pilgrims and sleeping in albergues it was not too much of an issue for us. We had a couple of nights where people were up early and a bit noisy but overall it didn’t bother us. We used earplugs at night when needed and booked the occasional private room. We love nature hiking and camping too but I think on this hike in particular you may miss out on the pilgrim community experience. But if it is legal and it is your preferred way to hike I would say go for it 💙💛✌️
@@callumclairesadventures8793 Thank you very much. Your personal experience matters much more than any quick comment in a guide book or forum and I really appreciate you sharing it. Also wondering about the cost of private rooms for 2 in an albergue, government guest house or modest hotel versus the cost of 2 people staying in your average albergue. If we don't take our camping gear we'd love to know we have the option of a quiet room if loud noise is a consistent problem (especially hearing that the Camino Frances is becoming more and more popular).
Thank you for a beautiful review of your Camino. It invigorated so many memories. We (my husband and I) also were booked in for 2020 wanting to do the Portuguese after the Francis in 2017. I cannot express how excited I am to finally go in July 2023. I noticed you referenced the Heysen trail which we also completed and are SA Aussies. I wish your beautiful family muchos buen caminos x
Hello Imelda my fellow South Aussie! Thank you for your kind words. I am so thrilled you will get to go on the Camino Portuguese next year, how exciting! Buen Camino ✌️💙💛
well done! You have captured the spirit of the Camino and shown people its great beauty! many blessings! I was about 2 months behind you on my 3rd Camino. I am already hoping for a 4th!
Thank you! Sorry we didn’t get to meet you but I hope you had a fantastic third Camino. We totally understand looking at the next one, we’d like to do the Del Norte next! ✌️💙💛
Lovely video, thanks for sharing, helped me with my own memories, just couldn’t get used to the chronological disorder, Cruz de Ferro before Astorga and Foncebadon?
Thank you for your lovely comment! It is easy to walk 900km when there are all those benefits - the people, scenery, food and a shower and hot meal at the end of the day….oh and the sangria 😋💙💛
I really enjoyed your video. Such a great job and I am sure helping you relive your adventure. I know on these trips the days can blur into one another and filming is a great way to jog the memory. I have 3 questions. 1) Which camera did you use, 2) did you have a specific blister management strategy to avoid them and 3)what was the handy mesh bag you had on the back of your packs? Loved it, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Pete
Hi Pete, thank you! We love having this video to look back on to remember our journey 😊 in answer to your questions 1) we mostly used a GoPro 10-I lost our GoPro 9 with the media mod microphone in Singapore airport on the way over and we had to buy a new one 😞 Sadly we couldn’t find the media mod microphone anywhere so some of our footage is effected by the wind! I also used my iPhone 13 Pro for some clips but not many. 2) we wore Brooks Cascadia trail runners that are breathable in sizes 1-1.5 too big for us and smartwool socks. We also stop if we feel a hot spot before it turns into a blister to cover it…although this trip I don’t think any of us even got a hit spot from me worry. We’ve never had a blister hiking using this method. 3) the mesh pocket was part of our backpacks. We use ZPacks Arc Haul bags and love them. Ultra light, ultra durable and functional. We’ve put about 2000km on our bags and they are still going strong! Molly and I just used day bags from Deuter and they worked well for this type of hike. Jethro used my Zpacks bag and callum had his own. Hope this helps! ✌️💙💛
Congratulations, well done. My sister and I walked from Le Puy to Santiago, 68 days. We took the bus to Finisterre, so I know the struggle and joy of finishing. Great effort. Keep inspiring.
Glad another Aussie made it! I think there were a lot of us there. Like you I was delayed from a may 2020 to May 2022 for the Norte. It was good to get into to Santiago but must admit that Fisterra was more emotional. It was the true end for me. When I was there is was a great sunny day so went around the Farro and threw my stone with the hope it made the Atlantic. The view from the small hill above the Farro was spectacular.
Yes!! Out first night in Orisson there were 9 Aussies out of about 25 people! 😋 Fisterra was my true finish point as well as evident by the tears. Sadly for us it was a total white out all day. But we had sunshine over the Pyrenees which I know lots of people don’t get so we still did pretty well for magnificent views. Thanks for watching! ✌️💙💛
Thank you 🙏 we used a GoPro hero 10…we had the hero 9 with a microphone but I lost it in Singapore Airport on the way over…and while we couldn’t find the replacement media mod microphone I would highly recommend getting one of you do decide to film! I also used my iPhone 13 Pro with a DJI gimbal but we found the go pro was fine for what we needed and was the simplest to whip out of my bumbag if needed. I wish you a Buen Camino! ✌️💙💛
Thank you for such a lovely vlogg🙏🏽. What an achievment to do the Camino in August, when it’s as hottest in Spain! Hoping to return for the 5th time in September😊 If you are coming back, I can highly recommend Camino del Norte! Pure magic🥰 Such a lovely family you are🪷💖

Very observant! Our very first stamp is dated May as it is stamped by the Australian Chapter of the Camino when they send the credential to you. But all the remaining stamps in the credential are dated July and August when we actually walked. See 16:07 for reference✌️💙💛
Amazing for you and your family Question, how was the weather? Do you have a list of the locations you stayed at? How much would you say you spend/spent individually on the trip? Thank you! So great to see a family do this with each other.
Thanks Annie 😊 the weather was hot (between 30-38 Celsius) but it didn’t seem to get too hot until after lunch so we tried to get up early and beat the heat. We only stayed in one albergue with a fan though so nights can be 🥵. We spent on average €120 per day for the four of us (€30pp) I’ll do a full break down on our budget and gear in an upcoming video too. I’ll update the list in the notes section to include the albergues next to each section in the next couple of days✌️💙💛
Hi Jose, we left SJPDP on 23 July and finished in Fisterra 31 August. There weren’t many pilgrims until we hit Sarria. We walked in a bubble of about 30-35 for most of our Camino. We spoke to a few local French people early in our Camino who said the predicted heat wave had kept numbers down during the week we left. It was between 35-40 degrees Celsius for most of our first week but we missed the really hot day when we were up in the Pyrenees as it was only 32 degrees up there. I don’t like filming other people without their permission so tried to keep the camera only on our family as well 😊✌️💙💛
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey! Fellow South Australians (Barossa)...planning to go August 2024! Have a small question (may be more) did you get the train straight from Charles de Gaulle or from Paris to St Jean pied de port? Best place you stayed?
Thank you!!💙💛 How exciting 2024 😀 we spent a week in Paris to help us get over jet lag and explore the city a bit. Then we caught the train from Gare Montparnasse to Bayonne and Bayonne to SJPDP…but this was booked as one ticket. When we went they overbooked the train from Bayonne to SJPDP so they put the extras into a bus to SJPDP. We thankfully got the train which was much nicer. My favourite albergue was in San Nicholas along the Meseta. We had a great shared meal, the albergue was quaint and we were so comfortable we all accidentally slept in the next morning. I wish you a Buen Camino! ✌️
Benvidos a Galicia.
Thank you Placido! It’s interesting to learn about the different regions and communities. We certainly felt right at home with the scent of the eucalyptus trees as we traversed through Galicia. It is a beautiful part of the world! ✌️💙💛
Flora G: Sí, claro que Galicia está integrada en Estado español, pero intuyo que tu concepto de España es algo diferente al de otras muchas personas ... de España.
I have dreamed of doing this with a small group. I am not sure if I am in the right physical condition to do it. These people look young and capable for the challenge. I still believe that as long as you don't have medical ailments and are relatively healthy, you might be able to do this hike. I had covid in early March 2020, and still get winded. Wondering if this will limit my ability to start and finish. What's the shortest route or what challenge is appropriate for me...
Hi Amelia, from my experience you don’t need to be fit or young to walk a Camino 😊 We saw lots of people with very different fitness levels. One pilgrim we met had “long COVID” and went very slowly but still managed to do 20km a day before dinner time. There are also buses and transport you could use between towns if you needed to, or you can send your bag ahead to the next town to reduce the weight you have to carry for the day making it a bit easier. There are some strenuous hill climbs but most of it was quite flat and easy to do. You could do a section of the Frances, we met lots of people who just did Burgos to Leon or Leon to Santiago ✌️💙💛
Hi Alexa we organised ourselves. There are guide books with suggested itineraries you can use but we really just walked as far as we felt for the day and then stopped ✌️💙💛
We used nearly all euro cash in notes as it was easier to manage our budget that way. We had a daily budget of 30Euro pp so for our family of 4 it was 120 euro per day. We withdrew it weekly and kept in a money belt. This was the perfect amount and we finished right on budget. Since covid, credit and debit cards are accepted at a lot of places now but we found cash easier. 💛💙✌️
I love this Video. When I first saw it was 55 mins long I thought I would never get through it. The opposite was the case, not only did I watch it in one go I went back and watched most of it again. Loved the Clint Eastwood cowboy scene coming through the swinging doors. High Plains drifter at its best. Thanks for the adventure.
😀 thank you! Callum never fails to entertain us ✌️💙💛
Thank you for a beautiful review of your Camino.
Precioso reportaje, les felicito por plasmar, reflejar la belleza de mi país, España . 🤗🇪🇸
Thank you! It is a beautiful country 💙💛✌️
Thanks Tony! Yes a little artistic licence 😋 Bringing together each week into it’s own chapter but not strictly our day by day account ✌️💙💛
Love the Australian Family. Great video. Captures the beauty and the reasons why you wanted to walk the Camino.
Thank you for your lovely comment! It is easy to walk 900km when there are all those benefits - the people, scenery, food and a shower and hot meal at the end of the day….oh and the sangria 😋💙💛
Loved the video. I’m planning for my wife and 2 kids to go in May. What camera did you use? The video quality was very nice. Thank you.
How exciting! We just used a GoPro hero10 and I recommend the media mod microphone which I had but then I lost at the airport on the way to Paris 🤦♀️
Absolutely breathtaking folks, cinematic shots are so touching!
Thank you for your lovely comment ✌️🇦🇺
I have done two sections and next year return to do the whole thing with one of our daughters…just can’t keep away
Fantastic!! Have a wonderful time ✌️💙💛
Congratulations, well done. My sister and I walked from Le Puy to Santiago, 68 days. We took the bus to Finisterre, so I know the struggle and joy of finishing. Great effort. Keep inspiring.
We’ll done on your Camino! Thank you for your kind comment ✌️💙💛
Where did you get bus to Finisterre
Really enjoyed the camera work & lovely mix of dialogue and scenes. What a great family experience, well done.
Thank you for your lovely comment! We were so fortunate to do it as a family ✌️💙💛

Thank you Erwin 💙💛It certainly had a wonderful vibrant atmosphere!
I really enjoyed this too. Thankyou for sharing your Camino 🙌 it looked a wonderful family bonding time 🙌🙌
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, thank you! ✌️💙💛
Spectacular video guuauuuu what landscapes
Thank you! The landscapes were beautiful, even along the Meseta I thought 💙💛
Hermoso vídeo!! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Thank you!! 💙💛
Fantastic series, very inspiring! Can I please ask what camera/vlogging equipment you used? Would love to document our Camino 😊
@@callumclairesadventures8793 thanks so much, super helpful and thanks again for a wonderful series!
Awesome!
Thank you ✌️💙💛
Thank you for such a lovely vlogg🙏🏽. What an achievment to do the Camino in August, when it’s as hottest in Spain! Hoping to return for the 5th time in September😊

Naw thank you Amy!! That means so much, your edits are amazing 👌🏻 I’m a still a ways off from your league 😋 Thank you for watching, there was lots of laughing when we were hiking too! Jethro came out with some crackers at times 🤣 💛💙

It looks beautiful, thanks for the tip! We will add to the bucket list ✌️💙💛
Would love to make contact. Plan to walk the Camino and am fascinated by the psychology of your Camino, with your kids.
Hi Norman, feel free to drop me a private message 😊✌️
Awesome, thanks. Ačiū.
Thanks Terra! ✌️💙💛
You have the stamps from the middle of may, but the vegetation is dry and yellow like in July / august, how is it possible?
Very observant! Our very first stamp is dated May as it is stamped by the Australian Chapter of the Camino when they send the credential to you. But all the remaining stamps in the credential are dated July and August when we actually walked. See 16:07 for reference✌️💙💛
Amazing for you and your family
Question, how was the weather?
@@callumclairesadventures8793 , Amazing, yes! Thank you! I look forward to it.
I would go with adults that have my level of ability to walk long distances and stop when we need to stop. Is there a time limit?
No time limit but the weather can determine how long might want to take and lots of albergues are closed during the off season.
Was it during July? It seems so empty of other pilgrims… I already did it in June and it was already crowded… I would say it was around spring. July?
Hi Jose, we left SJPDP on 23 July and finished in Fisterra 31 August. There weren’t many pilgrims until we hit Sarria. We walked in a bubble of about 30-35 for most of our Camino. We spoke to a few local French people early in our Camino who said the predicted heat wave had kept numbers down during the week we left. It was between 35-40 degrees Celsius for most of our first week but we missed the really hot day when we were up in the Pyrenees as it was only 32 degrees up there. I don’t like filming other people without their permission so tried to keep the camera only on our family as well 😊✌️💙💛
Very nice
Thank you! ✌️💙✌️
Did you organise the walk yourself or is the itinerary set by a company.
Hi Alexa we organised ourselves. There are guide books with suggested itineraries you can use but we really just walked as far as we felt for the day and then stopped ✌️💙💛
No habéis tenido calor en Agosto?🤔
No os habéis quejado, pero claro en Australia hace 50ºC
😂 yes we were very hot in the afternoons and evenings 🌞very similar to Australian summers where we live!
No one wants to talk about euros.. is it paper or lost of change and how much should you carry.
Good jee video hallo jee

El Camino has become a circus....
We felt a bit like this from Sarria to Santiago for sure! But what’s life without a little circus 🤹♂️😋💙😊
The music put me right off.
