I’ve had my 2010 f10 for 7 years now. I got it at 39,000 and now it’s done 114,000. Now I’m worried a our the timing chain lol😂 It has been remapped to 300hp and I love it. It’s the longest I’ve ever owned a car for because I don’t know what I’d replace it with.
No need to change ig 2021 G30 will be dropping prices quickly in few more years just replace the car with newer 5 series the interior is 90% similar to F10 tho😂 But there's no car at that price to provide as good performance anyways
I’d say the box on that car is in need of a service, the 8HP is one of the best boxes made! Shouldn’t be shunting like you describe, mind you looking at the state of the outside of that it’s probably neglected.
I own an F11 530d with the optional dynamic handling package which has active anti roll bars and dampers. For a big bus it corners flat, with hardly any body roll and better than my friends basic M sport. Also the gearbox has far less lag in sport and sport+ mode and adapts to how you drive. I reset mine when I bought it and it’s learnt my driving style, amazing really. You can also update the software on them, but I’m sure you’re already aware of that😁. The steering on mine also adapts at speed and keeps it firmly weighted and precise, yet light and supple when driving slowly.
@@milovanpuric318I had my gearbox serviced when I bought the car with 78k miles on the clock, just for peace of mind. The ZF8 auto is great, so strong, intuitive and it’s what converted me to an auto after having a hire car with one. Before that I’d driven manuals for decades, as autos always seemed like a clutch was slipping, but a ZF8 is a game changer. Go for a drive in a car that has one and I’m sure you’ll be impressed by how good it is.
I've had my '60' plate F11 (Touring) 520d SE for 2.5 years now, which for me is a record! For my money, there's nothing that does a better all-round job. 45-55mpg, reasonable performance, extremely comfortable with the 17" wheels and variable dampers, quiet on the road, luxurious and practical. My only issue is what to replace it with!
Also another key maintenance point on the 8 Speed ZF is to do a fluid/filter change at around 80k, or as soon as possible if you're over that already. BMW states they are 'sealed for life', but a fluid change really helps smoothness and longevity.
11:20 Try to keep your hands on the wheel when you are driving. Ideally both at the same time. It's not difficult. After 120k miles and 10 years with my F11, I won't be buying another BMW. The suspension air bags only last 50-60k, the parking beepers and ambient temp sensor packed in ages ago, the boot fills with water, the EGR cooler has been replaced twice on a safety recall and the front brake pad sensor is kaput. If your used BMW has a YC plate, chances are it was an Avis car but that won't stop the BMW salesman swearing blind it came from "BMW UK headquarters". Ate tyres despite the main dealer charging me for an alignment check until I took it to the local tyre dealer who fixed it. Had to replace both rear wheels at £500 apiece due to slow flattie / hairline crack. Apart from that, nice car.
You have to cough up quite a lot of money to do the larger maintenance jobs as the car ages (water/fuel pumps, suspension, etc) but this is a freakin incredible car to own. Still not many modern cars I actually would consider to replace it. The brakes I don’t like though.
This is not a real BMW for sure, where are the M and M sport badges all around in different colours and sizes, fast and furious exhaust tips, fake carbon wing mirror, black spray painted wheels with yellow or red "spray painted on the go" calipers. Also the front grill is not spray painted in M colours... No blinking chinese leds, wind screen not tinted in 100% black...

@@jur4x - Fairly sure EU regulations specify height adjustment for all non integrated headrests to ensure the top of headrest is at right height from 5th to 95th percentile of population (or similar) to cushion impacts properly. I’ve always loved the 5. But they’re starting to look a bit dated and generic … and the new one looks awful. Toyota Camry lookalike but gimmicky. BMW styling has gone off the rails and this also affects old models because they look even more dated. It’s a shame.

How many miles and how is gearbox? I'm looking 535d or 535i. Big decision. Never had diesel before. And never had AT.. I prefer manual.

The ZF auto will be slow to react if the 80k oil change hasn't been done, it's a vital part of the maintenance
Nice review, plenty of good cars that are 10 years old could easily go for another 10 if looked after properly and starting from a good base.
