Baroness - Borderlines [OFFICIAL]
#Baroness #YourBaroness #Seasons #GoldAndGrey
the bass line in this is beautiful
I wish I could distinguish it.
Agreed; really feels like Nick let loose on this album, which as a fellow bassist, it's great to hear that and so prominent in the mix!
@@ishmaelseneca3389 how do you mean? It’s very clear.
We Charleston SC residents are so incredibly fortunate that you are from around here, John, and always make a stop at the Music Farm. Please keep coming back, you are the musical highlight of my year every time!
Baroness is one of those amazing bands where they constantly release quality music that is constantly changing in style/flavour, yet always sounds like their band. Queens of the Stone Age have also achieved this. Baroness are so good, it's crazy.
I don´t know what to think, i feel like there is an enormous wall of noise in front of me, and sometimes it´s a bit hard to appreciate the great compositions that baroness is able to make. Anyway, i love the song and the feeling that generates all that big amount of noise.
Check out my remastered version.
First King Gizzard, and now Baroness... 2019 is the year of the blast beat
I didnt expect that at all lol
wait for tool
@@poisonfruit7357 and rammstein
And Devin Townsend too
just wait for opeth (maybe no blast beats but its gonna bury the competition)
This song has so many great elements. John Dyer Baizley you have created a band that has gave a glimmer of hope during a very difficult portion of my life. I’m going through a tough time right now my father died in January my aunt died the night of his funeral. Now I’m going through a break up and I just wanted to say thank you baroness for literally keeping me alive!!!
I know what you mean, my friend!
Funny how music helps us deal with the pains of life and heal ourselves :)
Stay strong, sir!
Never give in. Never give up.
Hell yeah, drum'n'bass intro.
Oh.
Oh gods.
Holy shit there's so much going on.
Not really.
You can catch a glimpse of the sound engineer at 2:33
hahaha...the dog?...funny...
Sadly I can hear him pretty well all along that great song
Did not expect a new single, the hype for Gold and Grey is real!
Woah, I DEFINITELY did not expect that blast beat either 😲
If this is mixed like the last album, I swear.
Pure gold.
(and grey)
I read a comment before the name was revealed that said "whatever the color is, its gonna be pure gold" and I thought hey it may be gold
orange
Where are the seasons that have passed?
Wouldn't they wait?
They're staring outside the window crack
Swimming inside me.
Where are the shadows I have cast?
Wouldn't they wait?
Didn't they find the way out,
Living inside me?
We fall.
We rise.
We bend.
We break.
We burn but we survive.
Forget me when I'm gone.
Settle in and don't forget to go to bed.
You tucked your fingers away.
All of the seasons that I have lost,
Where did they run and hide?
Where do we go when the well runs dry,
And the seasons are all that we know?
We fall.
We rise.
We bend.
We break.
We burn but we survive.
We fall.
We rise.
We bend.
We break.
We burn but we survive.
We fall.
We rise.
We bend.
We break.
We burn but we survive.
Shit lyrics, shit song.
Love the lyrics, love the music, love the seamlessness, reminds me of my favourite season, autumn, its crisp mornings, its vibrant colours, its mild sun, its misty dusks, the lingering light prone to fade but still clinging like dew drops to spiders' webs, the pumpkin soup, the chestnut flavour, the wistful melancholia and cozy warmth of fuzzy blankets, soft, forgiving hues of drowsy nature, tickling of rain, smell of moss, this immersive music, pensieve and honest, longing yet hopeful, appraisal of life and its effervescence.
@@elfsieben1450 goddamn that's pretty. When I read that while listening I totally got it. Well done
I’m probably the only one who likes the mix here. There’s heaviness here my dudes
Desperation burns riff at 2:36! I just Pre-ordered the colored vinyl and was stoked to see a new song available for download with it! Now it is everywhere!
So I'm not the only one who heard that. Sounds like the same idea implemented in a new way.
@@KamenMinkov I heard a little of what sounded like Blue Record Motifs in this and borderlines. I think we'll see a lot of slight alterations on past album sounds on this record consider its concept. blend the old and new.
This album is SO DAMN BUSY and I love it!
I got into Baroness on Blue Record (then doubled back to Red Album). I loved how they were heavy but somehow were able to put this sort of bright and beautiful layer into their songs unlike most metal acts. They're definitely not as heavy anymore, but they still have that beauty that sets them apart from other bands many try to compare them to. I'm always looking forward to what magic they come up with next.
Same order I listened to them.
That's my story too. I downloaded Jake Leg off some music website and was hooked ever since.
This is not the same band who wrote Blue or Red, either literally or figuratively.
It's different, some people like it, so I guess at least there's that. I hope you guys really enjoy this album.
@@D3Mp5 agreed not the same band. All of their new material just sounds the same to me with the same Baizley vocal licks.
Wow. This sounds really different from most of the other Baroness songs I know, and I like it. Would have loved to hear that blast beat part once more, but on the other hand... never overuse a well-placed effect. :)
I remember meeting Gina at the Guitar Center she used to work at YEARS ago. She was doing Misstalica at the time, and was just super cool. Her name came up a few times, but then a few years back I saw Baroness, and was like “HOLY SHIT THATS GINA!!” John and the band couldn’t have picked a better player to carry on the torch for Pete. I’m loving what she’s bringing to the band!
Sick Mastodon-like riffs
It’s so brickwalled. C’mon guys, let us hear all of the beautiful layers.
Agreed. Like Purple, I'll love the songs, but curse the shite mastering job on this album.
This.
Beautiful song but shitty mastering. Arent they listened when its done?????? Bloody hell
@@Cinemadaptation i hate it but pretty sure they do this on purpose
@@corrob why would they do that ??? Why would they think "We have a beautiful song lets ruin it with Bad production"

Goddamnit. Purple Two: The Compressioning.
The Distorted Flattening
That dual guitar solo was awesome. So funky!
Love a song that you definitely don’t know where it’s gonna end to. And sick Death sweatshirt from Gina 🤘
I have to give Spotify a shoutout here. This song got recommended to me, and I was hooked. Instant favorite!
I don't understand this one, quite yet. I'm buying the album regardless, but I hope a few more listens helps me unpack everything that this song has going on.
Devin Townsend, Periphery, Dance Gavin Dance, and Baroness..... I'm loving all of this.
I like when songs start with the “telephone” eq then switches to the warm full bodied sound but this just stays in the former.
Was getting an Interpol vibe almost from the first verse (in a good way), but then MAN the song picks up in intensity! I feel about the same as Borderlines, there's so much to unpack and wrap my brain around that the song's going onto heavy rotation for a while.
Great work!
This album feels like the disassociated lives of the wealthy rulers of a decaying republic. Golden Crowns and Grey Souls.
Can't wait to see these peeps live.
Gotta agree with the other comments here, the track itself is transcendent, but the mixing just kills all the subtleties of the sound and just really does no justice to how incredibly "clean" and all around ear-gasm inducing your live shows are. Its like preserving some baroque oil painting in amber.
bullshit.
this is my favorite track, I wish they would release raw stems for fan remixes
I enjoy it, personally. I have the record on vinyl and think it sounds awesome - in my mind the production adds to the songs on this album, it's clearly exactly what they wanted. But to each their own!
@@themcrib7920 yah now that I've listened to the album a few times it's really grown on me as a complete work. I don't always agree with the mixing choices but I do think some of their most intricate and emotive work is on Gold & Grey.
Oh my god, those riffs are great, BUT PLEASE REMIX THIS!!! :( :( :(
Why?
@@ramoncho050596 Sounds like there is a good bit of clipping as well as some other issues for me. I have listened to it on a few different set ups and it has the same problems. Muddy bits, clipping, and just some bad levels.
@@ramoncho050596 Because I'm listening to this with high quality headphones and it sounds like I'm playing it through iphone speakers. That's why.
@@DefThrone Exactly. If not worse.
Maybe UA-cam is not the best audiophile format
versatility. extremely good band and for me he same level of Mastodon. cheers from Panamá
Great band, awsome band... But not even close to being Mastodon levels of good.
@@plowmann2011 sure bro, you are right. for me Mastodon is much better than baroness but baroness is second place solid for sure.
Comparing bands like this is silly. Get real. I think both bands are awesome in their own way.
@@KamenMinkov exacly, you are right cheers
Actually I think at this point in their respective careers Baroness is a better band, OMRTS and Emperor of Sand were super underwhelming to me
My first listen through and it's already one of my favorite tracks in Baroness' catalogue. CAN NOT WAIT for the album now.
Funny how blast beats find their way anywhere now!
This song is dope. I love songs when every member sounds like they are in their own sonic void for a while and then they combine powers and come together in the middle.
I dont understand why everyone hates the mix.vi happen to like it. It gives it its own light, its own darkness. Its Baroness
Tours with deafheaven once
Nah, with Trivium and Full Of Hell
Man deafheaven aren’t influential give props to the French they stole from
@@5amplewhor3 You mean they still buying french fries?
@@5amplewhor3 Personally I don't like Deafheaven, there are many black metal and post metal bands much more interesting
Lol tbh the shoegaze is definitely not a Deafheaven influence. This band likes to mix genres and you think a couple guitarists with like 20 different pedals wouldn't ever do a shoegaze song?
Fuuuuuuck I can't wait for the new album. Top notch song!
Yeeeeeeees
So much going on in this track. It’s awesome. From flowing watery parts to blast beats and everything in between. This is going to be an amazing record.
BARON-YES!!!!
Finally have something to look forward to in the year. Can't wait to hear the rest of this album.
Absolutely amazing!!!
The drums are insane
Love it! Can't wait for the new album!
Sick. I heard them perform this song on tour just slightly before this video was unveiled. Glad to hear it again.
Was good to get a first-hand preview of this live yesterday... great show, can't wait for the album.
I don't think I've ever been more stoked for a new album to drop...
Can't wait for the album team
Gonna have to hurry up and get this album in my hands.
This shook my foundation. It's perfect.
It's like Yellow + Green on steroids. You guys are freaking amazing. I cannot WAIT to dig into the new record (which I hope is a double album, of course)
heard this live last night in Cleveland! so happy to hear them getting back to their heavy roots 🤘🏼
Great song this album is going too be BAD ASS 🤘😈🤘
So much texture and dynamics.
Holy Goosebumps. Can't wait for June
Such an amazing display of drumming skills!!
Cant wait for what's to come. thank you guys rock on
Fuzz and sludge, lovely. Lo-fi and live, brilliant. Jam band aesthetic, like the garage days--sign me up. 3:35+, what the actual fuck.
This was the Best notification i could've asked for after working all day in the pouring down rain. They're on the top of their game with this record, I'm so stoked!
Glad to hear that Baroness has preserved their musical brilliance with the new line-up
love this song.
Just saw you guys in Spokane, I love the heaviness you’re getting with the small amps. Amazing
Great song
That blast beat :o
I love your art! It suits you guys well. Love this new music
This album is gonna be kick ass can't wait for full release
This song is totally something different, and I dig it! Stronger bass n drum presence than ever. Riffs that are even proggier, weirder but still huge. I think I saw them play this at the amazing show they had in Worcester, MA.
Will always recognize that guitar sound and vocals even if they are no more those Batoness i loved so much....
This is something else, getting hyped for the album!
Already awesome.
SO psyched!
Much love and respect!!!
Amazing, a season of changes.
New sound, less aggressive but quite techy.
Really love this song, can't wait to see you guys in Mexico City.
Loving the drums on this track
The rumour has it that this was first going to be called "Take my Balls Away".
WOW!!!
Fantastic.
Sounds great!!
Those blast beats!!!
So good
I love them! Ever since shock me they havent failed to release a song thats made me feel... So aware. They havent failed me as a fan 💙
AWESOME
Saw them last night, they played it live. Such a great band
...We survive. RIP all those who have passed. Love you all.
This made me so happy, another single!
There's something about this song that touches your soul and then propels it into the ether. Well done Baroness, and thank you!
This band slays. So good
I bet these guys smell like an antique store
this is a great one
I love this song!
Amazing!
Me sorprendió el rajazo......que buen tema 👍👍👍
Another awesome song hurt by the production. Why do they insist on continuing to do this?
Jeffrey Johnson maybe they like it?
Because they listen and approve the final mix by listening to it inside of a Geo Metro
I don't know man. They are definitely the top band as far as the best music with the shittiest mixing
It always sounds like they just set up a microphone in the middle of a room they're all playing in.
@@Slaughterhauzen I agree man. They are an amazing band with awful sound mixing.
Here comes that Trans Am drumming!
Gold blast beat mate! This record sounds promising.
Putting the Gold in Gold and Grey lol
You mean grindcore death metal blastbeat?
@@klossner7205 absolutely
@@DirtPride81 very cool profile pic, Matt Pike lovely human being and great musician
The music sounds very promising but the sound itself is a clipping mess to my ears. Even worse than "Purple". Way to ruin amazing songwriting.
This is a good one
Hear this song live yesterday in Bogotá, Colombia was incredible!
Just, yes please
