For anyone who’s not in a rush, I recommend the show Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Seasons 3-4 touch a lot on mental illness, plus the show is pretty great. The main character, Rebecca, has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and the show is basically about her impulsive (and usually bad) decisions.
Fun fact there was a famous gangster from Liverpool, England known as The Devil who studied psychology so he could better torture drug dealers for their money. You've got to respect that level of commitment that you basically erarn professional degrees solely to be a better criminal.
Hi, may I ask you something? What are the requirements for studying psychology and how long does it take to study psychology? It would really help me a lot. Thank you.
When I tell people what my major is, some are like "oh please don't read my mind" and that is the most annoying thing ever lol at first it was funny but now it's just like please stop
Akela Nefertari I'd like my mind to be read, I hardly understand my self and am too detached from my feelings of awardnes and shame to Minde, especially as people with that ability have other people around to normalise most of my thoughts /reference for example my headaches.

The fact that I've been coming and watching this video whenever I feel down to work towards my goal! And yeahhh! I'm a Psychology freshman now!!😭 And I really do hope that I do become a good Psychologist!😭💫 Love youu Psych2Go!!!
Great video. Very true too. When people take a course on something like psychology, but also on, for instance, analyzing popular culture, there can indeed be a tendency to overanalyze and to recognize the things that were learned in the course elsewhere. I've had issues similar to that myself, and I haven't even taken a psychology course; I only read up on it online. I'm glad you made this video. Good luck with the psychology classes!
There are some key missing points here. First, to say that psychology is often referred to as the "relationship between brain functions and behavior or environment" is kinda dangerous to say to the audience and also incorrect. The thing about psychology is, even though there is empirical research going on, there are still many different "schools" (behaviorism, psychoanalysis, humanistic approaches, gestalt etc) which all look at people's behavior from different angles. This is kind of a thing that we had in natural sciences a few hundred years ago when there was no universal consensus. The definition of psychology stated is simply incorrect because it makes a person believe that if they take psychology class that it is going to be biologically focused, which is only one of the perspectives you must take when trying to grasp something as complex as the mind, actually this definition is closer to a field called cognitive neuroscience. If you truly want to approach the field of psychology without becoming too conservative, I advise you to read something on philosophy of mind, philosophy of social sciences and epistemology before starting with psychology per se, it will give you a perspective on which aspects of the human mind can actually be measured (in a scientific way), and why you don't want to disregard something about the mind as a psychologist in your practice (depending on your subfield) just because it can not be truly empirically tested.
I'm currently majoring in Psychology and going for a minor in art. I didn't need to take the General Psychology (beginners class) course due to the fact I passed my AP psychology exam back in high school so I got extra credit. So for my freshman year of college, I took Adolescence Psychology, Human Development Psychology and Abnormal Psychology (which I completely enjoyed) and passed with A's 😊Now that I'm a sophomore, I'm gonna be taking Neuropsychology, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences (pretty much statistics in psychology), and for 2nd semester (I'll be a junior then) I'll be taking Research methods, Social Psychology and Theories of personality. I might end up graduating early tho. After these courses, I'll need about 2 or 3 psychology courses left.

A brilliant video. Starting out in psychology is always exciting! I would recommend it to everyone but there are always things to be aware of. Like you say, psychology is massive and there is so much to learn, one benefit of an introductory course is to find what area of psychology you are most interested in. thanks again for another great video.
A psychology degree helps prepare you for the work place, but generally, a post graduate degree is needed to get a job related to the psychology field. The founder himself does not have a post graduate degree and yet started multiple business initiatives. Who said finding a job had to always be the path?
My psych degree can get me into all sorts of things. It's a good degree to have and will give you an edge in what ever you do as long as it involves people

in the uk our psychology courses are a little bit different, but in general these tips are pretty good :) definitely keeping in mind that you are not a doctor is important, ive been obsessed with psychology since I was around 12 so I definitely had my phase where I was diagnosing everyone, I was usually correct xD but even so its not a good idea. you will begin to view people a lil differently once you understand more about psychology but going to the extent of treating them like diagnostic toys is not good. also I find that when people hear you are taking psychology and are into therapy ect they assume you will have all the answers so watch out for that keep your interest in the human mind and your friends separate when the lines blur it can be difficult for you to maintain healthy relationships
I believe my inspiration to become a psychologist is Supernanny. I just liked how she was able to understand the children and know how to handle them according to their mental diagnosis or just their age.

Even coding (which is hella easy) requires more than one course before you can call yourself any sort of professional. I'm pretty sure analysis of others is just how most people go about their daily lives.
I used to start off as a biology major until volunteering at a vet clinic made me realize that being a veterinarian was not my supposed dream job when I claimed I want to work with animals. A talk with the biology adviser made me realize that being a service dog trainer sounded more like me because the thought of training dogs at my own pace already sounded relaxing. I hate working under pressure and I prefer to work alone because I can't stand group stuff for the most part. Switching to psych major really shaped my character because I liked reading the material a lot better compared to when I struggled to comprehend tedious math and science formulas/equations.
I can't wait until I get to college and can start taking psych classes! :D I've got a long way to go, but one day I will achieve my dream of being a psychologist!
i will definitely take it and further my knowledge in psychology, one thing i learned from understanding myself and recent diagnosis is that i dont want other people to go through with what i experienced. By the time come, i will comment here again that i have become a psychologist or further.
i'm in year 11 and I have wanted to be a clinical psychologist or psychotherapist since last year (but I found mental disorders and helping ppl interesting since I was 11 years old) So I guess after a while you know what you want to do when you discover what area it falls in :)
Thank you for this tip, I starting to study Psychology, It’s pretty diffcult tho because I am in Middle school and we barely get Teach about that, So I need to learn about this all in the Internet. I know this video came out around 5 years ago, But it’s still helpful.. Thank you again! ❤
I want to take this course cause why not? Right? I want to help and understand people whos keeping and silentling battles about their own themselves, i want they to know that theyre not the only one whos experiencing it ✨
I decided to take psychology when I was in 9th grade because I was extremely interested in hypnosis 😂 I kept telling everyone I want to do psychology because I imagined myself holding a pendulum and hypnotizing people 😂 Later on I realized u r not gonna learn hypnosis and magic techniques to read people's mind and manipulate people and stuff 😂 But I learnt that it's more of understanding ourselves. The more u understand urself the more u connect with people. Hypnosis (kind of a diploma course)and therapies are other fields which u will specialise in after your bachelors.. So anyway I decided to stick with the field, fell in love with psychology.. Currently working as a counsellor and still expanding my knowledge. It's ab amazing field 😍
@@Balladsbyshreya Hey, well yes. You can make more than enough if you turn to clinical psychology and get a job in hospital. Or learn organizational behaviour and get into a company. Or social and mass behaviour and help media or marketing. Forensic psychology if you are interested in the crimes and stuff. It all actually depends on which field of psychology u choose. Psychology is a vast field ☺
@@Balladsbyshreya yes. ☺ it's a great field too as many educational institutions are opening positions for counsellors and also if u try to take it up privately or work for a hospital. It still pays u good ☺
I'm hoping to become a physiologist (not sure what kind) when I'm older! So I'm studying hard in high school and will hopefully get into the university I want :D this channel helps a lot and I go through all the old and new videos to help me understand more about psychology:)
i took up psychology in the past because it's interesting, not boring and mainly because i want to understand people and help myself and the people i can. studying psychology was fun but damn, number 2 and a little bit of number 4 happened to me. it's fucking annoying and worsened my depression. i really missed the times when i don't overthink and just enjoyed life for what it is. even if you want to shut your brain it's there. but it's better now.
Something I wish I had known: there is a LOT of statistics that goes into Psychology, so if you had any trouble at all in your statistics class, you are in for hell of a ride if you choose to major in it.
Starting my courses this monday! I still don't know in what psychology branch I wanna do my post graduate degrees, I just know I really want this to be my job! Wish me luuuuck!
The problem with referring to psychology as a science is that you can't always implement the scientific method. Certain times that people have done so in the past have either been disastrous or considered crimes against humanity.
Certain approaches are better than others, but at the end of the day, psychology is doing their best to be systematic and scientific. But yeah, case studies are best for crimes that have been done.
I'm too old to take formal classes. Can't afford them, either. I'll just keep reading the odd book/article, listening to (professional) people like Dr Jordan Peterson, and watching videos like Psych2Go. ;-)
I’m so so so so so interested I always read about different topics it started when I realized that the thing I was feeling were social anxiety but maybe my parents disagree
Its general alright. The other day I was reading about stages of sleep and drugs. That's why there's not a lot of jobs because it's too general unfortunately. When I was learning it, it was deeply overwhelming and there was always a new concept/word to learn.
Theres also a lot of sciency words that literelly make me feel like I'm learning from a different language sometimes, but its all worth it if you really are interested in learning about human behaviors and things like that. 😂

I can't wait until I get to college and can start taking psych classes! :D I've got a long way to go, but one day I will achieve my dream of being a psychologist!
You can do it!
I took my first law class and now I already feel like a lawyer🤣😎
i will definitely take it and further my knowledge in psychology, one thing i learned from understanding myself and recent diagnosis is that i dont want other people to go through with what i experienced. By the time come, i will comment here again that i have become a psychologist or further.
My name is also Ashley I'm also planning to read psychology. 🙂🙂
I started it and I'm loving it :)
Awesome!
i'm in year 11 and I have wanted to be a clinical psychologist or psychotherapist since last year (but I found mental disorders and helping ppl interesting since I was 11 years old)
So I guess after a while you know what you want to do when you discover what area it falls in :)
I'm taking a phychology class starting on Tuesday!! Loved this video ty for sharing
kassy molina great! We hope it goes well, thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you for this tip, I starting to study Psychology, It’s pretty diffcult tho because I am in Middle school and we barely get Teach about that, So I need to learn about this all in the Internet. I know this video came out around 5 years ago, But it’s still helpful.. Thank you again! ❤
I'm in coming freshman this school year and I decided to take up BS Psychology 💕

Farah can i do bsc psychology with pcm
Can I do bsc psychology being a commerce student?
I decided to take psychology when I was in 9th grade because I was extremely interested in hypnosis 😂 I kept telling everyone I want to do psychology because I imagined myself holding a pendulum and hypnotizing people 😂
Later on I realized u r not gonna learn hypnosis and magic techniques to read people's mind and manipulate people and stuff 😂
But I learnt that it's more of understanding ourselves.
Hey there! Do you make enough money as I've always heard people isn't much money in this course? 🙃
@@VarshaManoj gonna take counselling pyshcology.... Is it a good field? We earn enough money there?
@@Balladsbyshreya yes. ☺ it's a great field too as many educational institutions are opening positions for counsellors and also if u try to take it up privately or work for a hospital. It still pays u good ☺
Thanks for the information
I had my first day of Psychology 101 today~ this was perfect to pop up for me~
Hope you love it :)
I am once diagnosed for sociopath by my psychology now that after therapy i want to deepen myself in psychology
I'm hoping to become a physiologist (not sure what kind) when I'm older! So I'm studying hard in high school and will hopefully get into the university I want :D this channel helps a lot and I go through all the old and new videos to help me understand more about psychology:)
Thanks for the video, it helped a lot finalizing my uni major decision. Have a nice day. :)
hi I just enrolled as a freshman in BS Psy, class starts in 2 weeks. Good luck everyone!
2:17 That's exactly why Imma learn phycology.
*Change my mind*
i took up psychology in the past because it's interesting, not boring and mainly because i want to understand people and help myself and the people i can. studying psychology was fun but damn, number 2 and a little bit of number 4 happened to me. it's fucking annoying and worsened my depression. i really missed the times when i don't overthink and just enjoyed life for what it is. even if you want to shut your brain it's there. but it's better now.
I learn so much from your videos and from your article on your site
That is awesome to hear!
thank you very useful!!
yes man i feel ready hank you for the words!

And now I'm even more curious to learn

Thank you
Took psychology in highschool and will take it in college this coming semester. Thanks!
Nice! Your welcome!
Something I wish I had known: there is a LOT of statistics that goes into Psychology, so if you had any trouble at all in your statistics class, you are in for hell of a ride if you choose to major in it.
I love it.....and in the last part of the video....I was smiling like.. Yes I will😊😊..Thank u so much..psych2go....
This is so helpful since I'm taking Psychology GCSE

Starting my courses this monday! I still don't know in what psychology branch I wanna do my post graduate degrees, I just know I really want this to be my job! Wish me luuuuck!
The problem with referring to psychology as a science is that you can't always implement the scientific method. Certain times that people have done so in the past have either been disastrous or considered crimes against humanity.
Certain approaches are better than others, but at the end of the day, psychology is doing their best to be systematic and scientific. But yeah, case studies are best for crimes that have been done.
It is unfortunate or fortunate (based on your perspective) that psychological issues not something that can be entirely nor easily categorized.
Reading this before watching Psychology crash course 1, oh boy gonna break rule 4 for a while...
Good thing I know this already before taking psych
I don’t want to have a job in the psychology field but I find it interesting to learn about
It’s the disorders, complexes, syndromes and stuff like that I find interesting
Always analyzing ppl😟
Now im so confused.
I'm too old to take formal classes. Can't afford them, either.
I'll just keep reading the odd book/article, listening to (professional) people like Dr Jordan Peterson, and watching videos like Psych2Go. ;-)
I have a weird fascination for psychology and im still at the beginning of 8th Grade and im willing to do self study till i graduate
Oh heyy same✋😄🍦😂
My favorite subject! 😘
I’m so so so so so interested I always read about different topics it started when I realized that the thing I was feeling were social anxiety but maybe my parents disagree
Psychology has all the answers
Its general alright. The other day I was reading about stages of sleep and drugs. That's why there's not a lot of jobs because it's too general unfortunately. When I was learning it, it was deeply overwhelming and there was always a new concept/word to learn.
I'm here because I'm scared to take psych but I really want it.
Omg same
Theres also a lot of sciency words that literelly make me feel like I'm learning from a different language sometimes, but its all worth it if you really are interested in learning about human behaviors and things like that. 😂
Yes, understanding the overall picture is what counts!
