This is how we ended up with horses growing up. Sister asked for a horse, got a pony, before I knew it I was taking care of 3 horses, 3 ponies, 4 sheep and a dog... Sister was bored within a week of each of them.
My sister wanted a dog very badly but we don't have the time to walk with the dog everyday, eventually after a lot of asking my mom gave her 2 guinea pigs. She had no interest in them after a few days but they are now my two little buddies and I take real good care of them :) I guess that's how it goes with kids and pets.
“Use their name often during conversation” “Jeffrey, how did you get to this concert, Jeffrey? What would you say, Jeffrey? Jeffrey, what’s your favorite song by this band, Jeffrey?”
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:31 🗣️ *Using someone's name mid-conversation grabs their attention and adds charisma to your regular conversations.* 01:58 🤲 *Handing someone something while in mid-conversation can make them more likely to accept it, even if it's unrelated to the conversation.* 02:56 🍬 *Chewing gum during study sessions and the exam, following the Pavlovian Theory, may help associate the gum flavor with the studied information and improve memory during the test.* 03:53 🧠 *Use cognitive dissonance to align your mindset with the person you want to become, helping you change behaviors and achieve goals.* 05:20 🚪 *Ask for a big favor first, then change it to a smaller one (door-in-the-face technique) to increase the likelihood of the person agreeing to the smaller favor.* 06:49 😴 *People are more likely to agree to something they initially didn't want to do when they're tired or exhausted.* 07:18 🦎 *Mirroring others' movements and gestures (Chameleon Effect) can make them more open to getting to know you, potentially helping you make friends.* 08:17 🤔 *Nodding your head while discussing a point increases the likelihood of someone agreeing with you, according to a 1980s study in Applied Psychology.* Made with HARPA AI
This is interesting. In your narcissistic frenzy to add your own noise to someone elses work, you ignored at least two other people who had already made the same effort. Its been two years, did you think you'd be the first? Didn't care to be part of a conversation, albeit late, but felt the need to instruct? I'm kidding :D I don't even know you. But still...
3:26 Missed the crucial part of the experiment: Pavlova rang a bell while the dogs were feeding. After conditioning they would start salivating when just hearing the bell and no food.
Yess true that's why when Pavlov rang the bell and did not present the food, the dog still salivated because it conditioned itself that whenever the bell rings food will be presented.
Funny trick thats especially usefull when you're walking busy streets: Looking at the ground in the direction you're walking in front of you, the people walking in your direction will subconsiciously notice and will move out of the line between you and the spot you're looking at. It even works for pretty far away distances. Often looking at the ground right in between two people walking next to eachother even splits them up until you've passed them :').
I finally understood why I study so much psychology. When I was a kid, I was never understood. At home, at school and almost everywhere. Even though I have stable relationships today, my past haunts me random times. I want to understand people as much as possible and silently wish I have someone doing that for me:
I think that if we do something to people, they will do the same for us, but sometimes maybe not. But try to understand the other was a so kind, so good luck :)
tried that banana peel thingy on my friend. We talked for 5 minutes and then he suddenly realized he has a banana peel in his hands and we bursted out laughing
1:24 i have this weird thing where as soon as i hear my own name i'm just absolutely terrified because i have been criticized in my educational form many times and just the idea of being called out terrifies me so even if *i'm* the one who says my name i still get that pull back to reality thing, and hear it so perfectly
@@sabilityone nah I disagree. Depression isn't just as you see it daily as being down and ruminating thoughts sometimes its alot more than that depression can actually cause phycosis/catatonia. You can't think yourself out of that so easily I'm afraid - your hardly even present really. Your comment is only from your experience which could have been very minor compared to others. Obviously you are important and your mental health at any state is important and no less than others but Its definatly a case by case basis and not one blanket statement for all. I'd recommend some research on a deeper/darker depression before commenting invalidating things on a mental health advocate page where there are so many suffering with depression reading your comment wondering why "choosing happy" didn't work. What you have yourself there is "Toxic positivity" it's a comment seemingly positive but actually not helpful and invalidating.
@@Liltattoo I agree with this but at the same time I wouldn't necessarily discard their thoughts on depression. There has been studies in which positive thinking alone combats depression at some degree, the more consistency the more powerful it becomes.
“use gum to remember information for your test” IS THAT WHY THEY DON’T ALLOW GUM?!!???!! Edited: The reason why they stick the gum under the table/desks is because they aren’t allowed to have it so they hide it, if they see it in the trash their gonna question who had gum? or maybe it just gets stuck on the trash when they try to empty it lol
Number four is so true! I literally realized like under a minute or a few ago that I'm doing that all the time with my most valuable goal without even knowing it, AND IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I literally giggle like heck now
Most teachers won't let you chew gum in school. The fix is find a distinctive smell instead. Memory is more closely associated with smell anyway so it's win win.

This video really opens my eyes to many aspects of psychology I hadn't thought about before. It made me reflect on my inner world and inspired personal growth!
#9. To figure out if someone is secretly focusing most of their attention on you more than everyone else in the room, try yawning. Since it's contagious, whoever yawns immediately afterwards was probably focused on you (or they're actually just tired in which case you still played a psych trick, but it was more on yourself😬).
I have done the handling random objects to my friend while talking. i have experimented it with so many items that make absolutely no sense and its honestly super funny hahahah. Ive handed a lamp to my friend mid conversation and they took it without realizing at first LOL
What helps is that I usually call someone by their name beginning or during conversations. Also, I've chewed gum while taking exams and I did a math final once and I scored 97 out of 103 possible points, just to bring my grade up from a C, to a B- lol
@zzac1an literally so I did this while they were on the phone having a conversation with a friend or whatever and I walked up to them and gave them a lamp and walked away and they continued holding it while on the phone LOLOLOL
I first watched this channel a couple years ago, and it helped me get out of a dark place in my life. Back to the present day I stumble on this video. Thank you so much for everything psych!
@@jewelbernadettecelis561 That's so cool! While in our school it is supposed to be allowed the teachers usually scold us for it cause it's "not okay to chew gum when you are supposed to concentrate on your studies" or other reasons like that

Can 100% attest to the power of #4. When I was graduating from college, I realized I wanted to be a senior-level manager or executive some day, but didn't believe I had what it takes with my social awkwardness and indecisiveness. So I started imagining myself being "the boss", taking charge of crisis, pulling teams together, etc. I'm still a social introvert in my private life, but I'm on the fast track for a promotion to lower management this year, with aspirations for accelerating that once I go back for my MBA in a year or two. Mind you, this is after FIVE YEARS of trying (and often failing) to slowly change my behavior patterns. It is NOT easy to do, and often I felt like a complete fake at first. To this day, I'm still a bit shaky sometimes and doubt my capabilities. But this is a prime example of what "fake it 'till you make it" really means: if you put your all into it and see patient, it can work for you, as well!
Wow I feel so lucky I really wanted to educate myself more in psychology to be able to comfort and help my friends better. I couldn’t bring myself to read books and watch boring videos but thanks to this cute animation and the calming voice I enjoy watching these very much. Thank you for helping us educate our selves.
"Dad, I want an eraser, watercolors, oil colors, acrylic colors, chalk, crayons, pencils, wooden colors, and papers" "What, that's too much!" Well, I just need the painters' equipment. "Oh, okay" This method is very useful for those who like to draw, try it
I used to do this to my father all the time. I would always ask for more money than I wanted. Then pretend to settle for the amount that I really wanted. Once in a while I got the first amount that I asked for. So it was a win-win situation.
Back in school a boy in my class mentioned the bubblegum and he said that it really worked. And I tried it. The experiment with the dogs gave me an idea. When I study I`ll study with what/who I love most 😉 Awesome! Can`t wait to try it out! Thank you!♥️♥️
Number 4 really does work! I've always had a sweet tooth along with a big appetite. In turn, this caused me to gain a lot of extra weight and I was super unhealthy. So, I started convincing myself that I didn't like sweet things that much and that my appetite was on the smaller end. It felt weird at first but eventually I found that I was no longer able to eat super big portions of food anymore, and that I didn't care as much for sugary foods. I started exercising along with this and I lost most of the weight and I'm now at a healthy weight! Honestly the best decision I've ever made. But seriously, if you have a goal, use this trick! Most of the time it helps at least a little bit!
I have a teacher who blurts peoples names out as he speaks, like, “Now we’re going to learn about color schemes, right, Lizzie? Sharon looks really excited for this one. Anyway, say Gerald here needs to pick out a color...” It works to grab your attention and keep you engaged for the whole lesson. You’re always on the edge of your seat, excited to be included in the conversation.
Heh, I randomly did the imagining trick when I was in my late teens. I realized at one point that I was depressing myself by wishing for things (mostly attention from others) I didn't have. One day when I lost someone dear to me I noticed that I wasn't feeling any differently from when I didn't get attention and that was the most disgusting I've ever felt with myself. It felt so similar to what I'd been making myself feel that it seemed to diminish the worth of the loss I'd suffered, effectively insulting the memories of the one I cared for. So I started telling myself I was not allowed to mourn things I simply wanted and should be looking at things I have instead, so I can value them more and mourn only when it's appropriate. Every time I catch myself feeling envious or left out when I can't actively change it, I give myself a mental kick and go "Nope, you haven't lost anything, stop it." It's made me happier, outwardly more friendly which makes things better for everyone and taught me some introspection that helped me avoid bad things I otherwise wouldn't have noticed if I kept focusing so much on things outside my control. I now only mourn when it actually matters.
I’ve used the door in the face technique many times without even knowing that it was a psychological trick and it worked most of the time except for like once or twice when I wanted something that was too big of a favor
Here’s another one: If you don’t want to be called on in class, make eye contact with the teacher while they are picking and then suddenly look away, it diverts their attention away from you.
@@jifpeanutbutter5510 I also used to do this during school days 😂 I tend to answer the first or second question which is usually quite easy and relax while others get harder questions 😂 most teacher actually do pick someone who does not answer any question for their target though they will be some exception teacher for this method.
I honestly get a little weirded out when somebody uses my name often. It makes me feel like I'm about to get into trouble for something because my mom would use my name a lot when she was annoyed with me haha
I don't have any childhood trauma or anything but it just sounds so weird when someone uses my name often, it doesn't even sound like my name after a while. It annoys me ngl.
I get annoyed if someone repeats my name too often in conversation. It makes me think of the trick you use in customer service when trying to de-escalate a customer or when you're trying to talk them into buying something. It's an attempt at making them feel special and like you're treating them as an individual the way some newsletter emails put your name in the greeting instead of some generic "dear subscriber" greeting. I've used it at different jobs and it works plenty of times so I'm already in tune to it being used as a tactic.
Psychological Tricks That Can Make Your Life Much Easier Look into someone's eyes when you get a dissatisfactory answer. ... Stay calm when someone raises their voice to you. ... Sit close to the aggressor to avoid attack. ... Remember everyone's names if you want to be popular. ... Write down your thoughts when you feel stressed or anxious
@@rhiko7 me knowing that never in the history of telling someone to calm down has someone calmed down: * in a calm and composed manner when someone is yelling * please, calm down. Talk to me once you're ready to act like a civilized adult again. * I walk away and leave them yelling by themselves like crazy *
This channel helped me discover the anxiety I never realized I had, and I am ever grateful for their help in aiding me to understand more about the mental health and just how important it truly is. Plus their animations are just so darn cute!
I used cognitive dissonance unconsciously when I found out I was more social than I thought. I used to think I was a thinking introvert because I was good at math and didn't have that many friends, so I wasn't that social. Recently, I found out that I had been a social introvert all along, but just hadn't realized it for the reasons I mentioned. I accepted the truth and was immediately much more social, boosting my self-esteem and confidence in the process. 😂
So many times right after I get done talking to someone I realize I'm holding something and I'm like, " Wait, who gave me this? Where'd this come from?" and my friend is just like, " I handed it to you almost 10 minutes ago." and I think, ' Oh, great. It happened again.'
Me to my crush: I think we both **nods aggressively** like each other Update: I found out he already likes someone else and he kinda was just too nice? Whatever Update 2: the new school year has begun and we started pretty great I mean we’re pretty good friends, I still like him but I’m not “allowed” to date now so😔😔
Pavlovs stimuli was a bell. He would ring the bell before getting the dogs. So they began salivating when they heard the bell. Not when they saw the bowl. They were conditioned to think good was always coming when they heard a bell. It don't sound like much if a difference from what the video said, but it's a huge difference.
1. Call them by their name (Used for catching their attention back to you) 1:03 2. Hand someone something while in mid-conversation (Make them carry something for you) 1:50 3. Practice the PAVILOV THEORY by chewing gum to ace a exam (Studies show that when you chew gum while your study sessions and during the exam you are likely to remember it more.) 2:35 4. Try imagining you where you want to be in life. (Example: You are shopaholic who wants to stop spending as much money, convince your mind that “you are not the shopping type that you already don’t like shopping.) 3:40 5. Ask for a big favor than change it to a smaller favor (Example: You want a hamster.. you ask your parents for a dog and they say no. Then ask for a hamster and they will be more likely to say yes. 5:06 6. Ask for a favor when someone is exhausted as they will be more likely to yes to receive more sleep. 6:22 7. Mirror others to help you make friends 7:12 8. Nod your head if you want someone to agree with you. 7:46
The 2nd psychological trick actually worked on me. I was telling my sister some story and I only noticed that she was already ordering me around when she laughed at me.
a tip similar to the chewing gum trick: if youve got more than one subject to study, assign different types of music playlists to each of them. as an example, you can listen to piano music for science, and listen to jazz music for maths. and then the next time you study the same subjects, make sure you listen to the same playlists you assigned for each of them before. this will help you remember the stuff you learned before more, as you are listening to the same types of music.
The "asking for more than you actually want" trick worked wonders with one of my former bosses. He was quite authoritarian, but also liked to think of himself as the protector of his employees.
This video wil DEFINITELY help me! Your videos are not only entertaining and curious, but also helpul and extremely informative! Animation is heck good too, so you better keep like that, just like more recent videos, cause it is perfect!
3:37 This point is also in a book by Shad Helmstetter, named *What to say when you talk to yourself* . It is about self talk, and is REALLY helpful. I recommend reading it.
As a high school teacher… yes, yes I will use these! Thank you so much! I want my students to learn so they can achieve their goals in life. It’s so hard to get them off of phones for just five minutes!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:31 🗣️ *Using someone's name mid-conversation grabs their attention and adds charisma to your regular conversations.*
01:58 🤲 *Handing someone something while in mid-conversation can make them more likely to accept it, even if it's unrelated to the conversation.*
02:56 🍬 *Chewing gum during study sessions and the exam, following the Pavlovian Theory, may help associate the gum flavor with the studied information and improve memory during the test.*
03:53 🧠 *Use cognitive dissonance to align your mindset with the person you want to become, helping you change behaviors and achieve goals.*
05:20 🚪 *Ask for a big favor first, then change it to a smaller one (door-in-the-face technique) to increase the likelihood of the person agreeing to the smaller favor.*
06:49 😴 *People are more likely to agree to something they initially didn't want to do when they're tired or exhausted.*
07:18 🦎 *Mirroring others' movements and gestures (Chameleon Effect) can make them more open to getting to know you, potentially helping you make friends.*
08:17 🤔 *Nodding your head while discussing a point increases the likelihood of someone agreeing with you, according to a 1980s study in Applied Psychology.*
Made with HARPA AI
This is interesting. In your narcissistic frenzy to add your own noise to someone elses work, you ignored at least two other people who had already made the same effort. Its been two years, did you think you'd be the first? Didn't care to be part of a conversation, albeit late, but felt the need to instruct?
I'm kidding :D I don't even know you.
But still...
Didn't think there would be others but never too late haha :)
3:26 Missed the crucial part of the experiment: Pavlova rang a bell while the dogs were feeding. After conditioning they would start salivating when just hearing the bell and no food.
This was the same trick used in The Office.
Yess true that's why when Pavlov rang the bell and did not present the food, the dog still salivated because it conditioned itself that whenever the bell rings food will be presented.
Yep, that point was missed..
that's bad , pretty much animal abuse😮
Funny trick thats especially usefull when you're walking busy streets: Looking at the ground in the direction you're walking in front of you, the people walking in your direction will subconsiciously notice and will move out of the line between you and the spot you're looking at. It even works for pretty far away distances. Often looking at the ground right in between two people walking next to eachother even splits them up until you've passed them :').
You can also look over the people’s shoulder in the direction you want to take. Same thing, different focal point
I do this all the time when I walk
I've tried but public school couples are immune to the effects. On the bright side it's fun crossing under an arch of arms

Depression is defeated
“Depression”
It’s basically the virtual machine of mental illnesses, you didn’t actually have depression, you just BELIEVED you had it
Haha only if coulf
Nah, depression is real.

#9. To figure out if someone is secretly focusing most of their attention on you more than everyone else in the room, try yawning.

Makes no sense to me...
I appreciate that you shared this, and great work, keep being creative with this approach.
It works for drinking water too!
Hehe, what?🤣
😂❤😊! I will use it more lol! I think it’s positive reinforcement
almost every teacher i've had does this as well!
It just scares me when my teachers do that
Heh, I randomly did the imagining trick when I was in my late teens.
Every time I catch myself feeling envious or left out when I can't actively change it, I give myself a mental kick and go "Nope, you haven't lost anything, stop it."
It's made me happier, outwardly more friendly which makes things better for everyone and taught me some introspection that helped me avoid bad things I otherwise wouldn't have noticed if I kept focusing so much on things outside my control.
I now only mourn when it actually matters.
How did youtube send me to this channel, and it's 3 years old? I'm so glad i found you

We do it all the time. It's called marketing 101 :)
@@Psych2go can you please explain about it?
"mom, can I get a dog?"
"No"
"than, can I get a chinchilla?"
"No"
😢😬
ASK FOR AN ANT
Lol YES!!! 🐜🐜🐜
The 2nd psychological trick actually worked on me. I was telling my sister some story and I only noticed that she was already ordering me around when she laughed at me.
a tip similar to the chewing gum trick:
if youve got more than one subject to study, assign different types of music playlists to each of them. as an example, you can listen to piano music for science, and listen to jazz music for maths. and then the next time you study the same subjects, make sure you listen to the same playlists you assigned for each of them before. this will help you remember the stuff you learned before more, as you are listening to the same types of music.
Giblets: Nodding his head at the end of the video.
Me: *Starts nodding head then realizes* Wait... What!?
