Hey man I’m 17 I’ve beat depression and an eating disorder depression, was very hard because I’ve noticed being depressed you believe the sadness more than you believe yourself or others and it’s a harsh cycle simple because you believe you won’t get better and when people tell you what you need to get better you don’t listen and look for relief in the moment oppose to relief in the long run, an easier way to look at it is for example someone may have a problem with excessive eating and they want to stop but they’re living in the moment so right now eating more sounds more pleasurable, right now being sad and wanting others to assure you is more pleasurable than taking the advice and taking a step to help yourself, right now being sad is more pleasurable then starting to tell yourself positive things and stopping the negative thoughts in their tracks because you don’t feel comfortable trying to get better you feel comfortable being sad so since you make no moves to step out of your comfort zone or not enough moves it continues to be a harsh cycle. CHANGE REQUIRES BEING UNCOMFORTABLE CHANGE REQUIRES NOT DOING WHAT YOU KNOW WILL HURT YOU EVEN IF EVERYTHING IN YOUR HEAD IS TELLING YOU TO DO IT CHANGE ISNT EASY NOW BUT ONCE YOU EMBRACE IT YOU LEARN IT WAS NEVER COMPLICATED!!! EVERYTHING YOU TELL YOURSELF REALLY MATTERS WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF FORMS YOUR BELIEFS YOUR BELIEFS FORM YOUR ACTIONS YOUR ACTIONS FORM YOUR FEELINGS YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE BECAUSE OF THE THOUGHTS YOU THINK!!! YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU DREAM ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE IN HISTORY HAS DONE IT SO LONG AS YOU THINK THE RIGHT POSITIVE THINGS PUSH YOURSELF FUCKING DONIT YOURE RIGHT THERE YOURE INFINITE YOURE LIMITLESS DONT SET A BAR FOR YOURSELF THAT WAS TRULY NEVER DARE COME ON MAN EVERYONE LOVES YOU I LOVE YOU IF YOU HURT YOURSELF YOU HURT BILLIONS IF EVERYTHING MATTERS IF YOU HURT ONE PERSON YOU HURT THEIR FRIENDS THEIR FAMILY AND SO ON AND THAT NEVER STOPS THE EFFECTS OF YOUR PERSON IS BIGGER THAN YOU PROBABLY KNOW LITERALLY EVERYONE MATTERS NOBODY LEAVES THIS EARTH HAVING NOT THEORETICALLY MATTERED I LOVE YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I KNOW YOURE GONNA BEAT IT INSTEAD IF SAYING MAYBE SAY I KNOW EVERY WORD EVERY THOUGHT IT MAKES YOU it makes YOUUUUUUUUU

You also need a fitting personality. Someone I know studied psychology and did an internship in a psychological ambulance.

My mother is a Speech Language Pathologist, and she does amazing work helping grade-school kids gain better language skills. It's certainly a field where professionals gets very little recognition; yet, given how language is the mortar that holds the structures of civilization together, they are likely to bring about greater social progress than most others specializing in one of thousands of other disciplines.

That moment when you were considering a psych career but weren't fully committed to the idea...

Occupational, educational, health and even sport psychology are all very very interesting for me

thank you for this video, this video really help me to do my assignment about psychology career paths
So, video idea. What should we psychology students do if internships, work studies and others are not accepting anyone and still get the experience for the study/role?
Or any other things to help Psych students during COVID-19.
So some of the things I want to get into are...
1. Substance abuse counselors
2. Forensic Psychologist
3. Sports Psychologist
4. Parole Officer
5. College Admissions Counselor
6. Experimental Psychology
7. Clinical Psychologist
8. Marriage Therapist
9. Military Psychologist
10. Speech Language Pathologist
I want to be all of them, I love helping people, it's my hobby but I can't be everywhere at the same time, I don't wish to be deployed, Experiments; I'm not a big fan of writing research paper, ironic enough I am writing a book. I want to make my own clinic though I need to learn the rules and laws.
Thank you so much for this video!
I love psychology so much and it’s really a big passion of mine. I read and study a lot on my own about it because my family didn’t support my choice to follow this career and i ended up choosing something that they wanted me to do... It is and it was a big pain for me. I regret the choice I made.
But now, I’m going to face my fears and go for it no matter what.
Life is one and too short for being people pleaser, especially when we are talking about careers that you are going to - at least - until your lifetime ends.
Maybe it will cost me a lot in terms of time, love from others or support... but i need to see what it will take me.
Maybe I will leave my country to better educate myself. Alone.
Alone but with myself. I don’t know.
But everything has its own time to mature.
Thank you so much again for your work and efforts you bring into your channel and videos about this topic.
It’s so much appreciated!
And... I’m so sorry for my English. I wish with all my heart to be able to learn this beautiful language as much as I can.
Whoaa and how are you doing?
go ahead with your passion man , life toooo short to worry about pleasing ur parents. i support u cuz I'm in the same boat ! but regardless u know what's best for or where heart or mind lies . it's not like it's an easy path either . i will continue to support u n have faith in yourself.💜💜💜💜
OMG, I have a similar story however I'm blessed to have parents who support me. Since I live in Pakistan, family, including relatives hold GIGANTIC importance and so does their opinions. I have always wanted to be a psychologist since 8th grade and I have had my parents support this sweven of mine
Albeit, I have their support, I have and still gain A LOT of destructive criticism from my relatives and some of my school mates over this. Whenever I tell anyone that I'm aspiring to be a psychologist, they would always bombard me with things like "you wont earn enough" "stupid decision " "why would you choose it over medical and engineering " Now that I got good grades in my o levels, the pressure has multiplied bcz they want me to "invest my intelligence in a Better way". Ludicrous
I once succumbed to them and chose medical and then engineering in the beginning of my college but suffered a lot of pain and regret. Although, I got praised by everyone for my decision, I wasn't attaining any tranquility or felicity. I abhored it! All my cousins are either medical and engineering students (the only two perceived as dignified professions in Pakistani culture). I was afraid of being considered inferior to them.
Then one day, out of nowhere, courage piled up in me and I told my parents that no matter what, I cannot live my life pleasing others and I'm ready to be looked down upon for my career or considered a failure for MY happiness.
Only YOUR happiness matters! Don't live your life fulfilling other's dreams and don't continue the chain. I admire you for having the strength to do what YOU love even if it means losing love and support.
Albeit I'm jeered for my decision by my relatives, I'm more jubilant and content than ever!
YOU SHOULD BE YOUR FIRTS PRIORITY! Wishes and love from a fellow psychologist aspirer
mmm I sense a fellow INFP here?
@@minalakbar7404 it's all well now, that u r doing what u want to do . Thanks alot for sharing your experience n thanks to u now I feel like I know that my decision will not eat me in the future. N ur not alone bcuz i come from an Indian household n here too medical n engineering r the only thing that people, parents n my fellow peer can talk about ... N honestly I hate that bcuz there r so many other things that people can do but they simply choose these two things to do bcuz of society, money n n God knows what , n bcuz of their choices it's kinda normalised to have or persuade careers in these fields that now we don't get to do or persuade other things that can bring joy or fullfilment to us
Im not in college yet, but I've been thinking of majoring in psychology ever since i found this channel and i really like helping ppl, so thank you!

I wanted to be a Psychiatrist, I’m currently taking BSc in Psychology as my first step. Psychology peaks my interest over many branches in science, treating patients with mental illness is what I dreamed for. This channel motivates me, thank you PsychGo.
After niyo pong grumaduate ng BS Psychology ano pong plano niyong gawin?
Hows it going for you? What school do u attend
Heyyy me too I'm also planning to do Bsc from psychology do let us know how it's been going for you.
So far everything goes smoothly guys, you will learn about psychology in general during your first year of this course , I only intended to take this course because it is only for pre med purposes, but if you are planning to proceed medicine later on you should take allied health sciences like nursing because they have more health subjects that are needed as prerequisites for medicine. My tuition is less of a financial problem compared to other courses that has more on laboratory. If you really want to become a psychologist someday you will soon realize what psychology will you truly love, along the way on your studies, you will be introduced to a lot of psychology courses like cognitive and dark psychology.
Can you make a video about how to know if studying psychology in university is a good idea for you?
