    Thank you for such a detailed video.
    I just finished replacing both batteries.
    It turned in to a pain in the ass cause I didn't tighten the 1 brass nut enough on the passenger side under the power cord and other nut above it so I put everything back together. Nothing happened when I turned the key.
    Took me a while but I figured it out, all this was at 8:00 pm at 10 degrees after a 11 hour work day.
    Again... well done sir!👍

    I just did my batteries. My truck is slightly different than yours (2018).
    Here’s a couple of tips:
    1. It’s not necessary to remove the front cowling or the fender cowling.
    2. The support struts can be swung out of the way.
    3. It helps to tie back the cables with string to keep them out of the way during removal/replacement.
    4. Position a strap under the middle of the battery. You can tilt it a little and then slide it under. This makes lifting the battery out so much easier.

    Thanks for the video. Just got truck back from the auto body shop. The guy did a real crap job on my 2019 Silverado. Needless to say, it was turning over slow. When got it home, I checked the batteries and alternator. {plenty of voltage getting to the drivers side battery,) no charge getting to the passenger side battery. To find out there was no negative cable on the passenger side battery. The truck is at my dealership troubleshooting the park assist sensors because the auto body shop had the truck an extra 6 weeks trying to get the sensor system working. I can go on but I just wanted to say thanks. I'll be replacing the batteries in a year or so. I'm subscribed. Keep up the good work. Mike M

    Great video. My batteries are 6 years old. I dropped a magnet today it touched the post on my 2019 Duramax alternator and sparked. Then my batteries stopped charging and are at 11 volts each. I think it’s the fuse block on the passenger battery? Not quite sure. I’m truly struggling as I’m battling a terminal illness for 12 years now and lost one eye to a stroke. Can’t afford to take the truck to the dealer. I ordered a new oem fuse block and getting batteries tomorrow at Costco. I’m so freaking stressed as I’ve been dealing with this for 10 hours today.

      Sounds like your batteries are starting to give out based on the smell. Do you know if your truck has 24/7 tow & services? If not, do you have AAA?

    Excellent video Well prepared and explained. Best I have seen Would this be similar to 2008 DuraMax I still have OEM Batteries 730 CCA 14 years amazing but always trickle charge when not using truck etc. but think I should change out the batteries for a piece of mind. Do recommend OEM or Interstate or ? Thanks for all your great work.

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  3 роки тому

      That's impressive! 14 years is a feat! Sounds like it's not your daily ride or you might live in a cold climate.
      I'm not sure what the 2008 looks like under the hood, but it should be a similar process.
      The trickiest part was removing that black terminal box off of the passenger side battery since I didn't know what I was really doing in all honesty.
      Yeah that would be a good move since you want a rig like yours to be ready when you need it.
      for me, the Costco Interstates have held up nicely in both my Hondas and the truck. The 36 month warranty is also nice reassurance. But then again, 36 months is nothing when yours have lasted 14 years! Perhaps it could be that this truck isn't a daily driver either, but the difference is that it was never put on a tender. The weather here in Southern California is more forgiving, but they still need to be charged up. So these OEM lasted a total 6 years withOUT tender but in your case, I think either would work super well since it sounds like you're on top of the care for them

      @@Striker50_ yes it only has 61K on it. Only driven in summer pulling a boat. And in Man Cave and trickle charged just like both boats 24/7 The boats all have Interstate and have 8 years on them Key is trickle charging 24/7. My question I am trying to find out is
      I want to purchase the freshest and newest batteries. Not some that have been living in a shelf for a few years. It happens. How can I achieve this?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  3 роки тому +1

      @@daveholte7658 If you notice on the interstate batteries I posted, Costco has a sticker they place on them (I'm assuming manufactured date) A quick call to Costco to confirm that should take care of that question. it would make sense that the sticker is indeed the manufacture date since every time I am in the tire center doing rotations, I see batteries being sold left and right and they don't have the largest volume of inventory

      Yes both batteries are the same; having a bit more CCA than factory isn't bad, but it's best to stick as close to factory as possible since cars have tons of electronics now, but ±100 CCA should work also (my opinion as an alternative) but factory CCA is strongly suggested

      This is one of the best videos I've seen thus far. Great detail and information provided. I care more about the work, not what he has on. Great job!
