One thing to note is the GMC is going to come standard with things like the technology package that you would have to equip on the Chevy so that is what is up with the initial massive price difference. If you spec them similarly a Silverado and GMC can be about 2-4k difference in price sometimes even less.
The previous Colorado and Canyon for example had a price difference of 400 dollars if they were similarly specced.
Still find the GMC to be a little over priced over the Chevy. I think that increased cost comes from interior "upgrades" and that is it. I kind of prefer the ZR2 interior over the GMC AT4X interior simply because that white in the premium offering of at least the Canyon AT4X isn't going to age well. The Black/tan interior in lesser Canyon models though is definitely a superior look to the Chevy models though. I also think the ZR2 nameplate has more brand recognition than the AT4X.
What’s more interesting is the HD pricing compared to the LD trucks….60 grand for a half ton truck is insane, especially considering the resale value at 100k miles
Yeah, they actually forgot to figure out what the difference in the two is.
The tech package on the 2500 is not standard for the 24's. I just built one (AT4 diesel) and it's about 1300 more. The AT4 is about 2-3k more than the ZR2. Add 9k for the AEV versions of both BUT the AT4X is around 100k where the Bison AEV is 93k.
I've been building low end 2500/3500 on both Chevys and GMC's builders. I can get what I want from the GMC for cheaper actually on the low end trims vs Chevy. I am NOT looking at anything higher than the two lowest trims for both.
I think it has to do with its position in the line up. The ZR2 HD is positioned below the high country which is below the AT4 in the GMC line up. The AT4x is positioned between the Denali and the Denali Ultimate, making it higher end from go. I always buy GMC so I am bias, but when I ordered up my 2024 AT4 it was a better bargain than the Chevy High Country. At the end of the day GMC, as you said is positioning itself as higher end. I personally like the way GMC package their trucks making them much easier to order imo.
What blows my mind is people continue to pay these prices for a depreciating asset….. insane
Common sense is not so common anymore
There just not educated enough to realize or too much $ they don't care.
Depreciation is a business expense and for a pass through entity like a small business it drastically reduces your income tax. Just ask Roman.
Depreciation is another business expense. Even when people are talking about $6/gallon fuel and economic doom, wondering how people can afford such vehicles, that's also a business expense.
Not if you lease them!
You get L.E.D headlights on the GMC work truck.
I also noticed you could get a Chevy Lt with the z71 sport package which include the new headlights but limited body colors🤦♂️
Tax write-off is about the only reason to pay near $100k for a truck.
I don't think most people understand how a tax write-off works. You pay a little less in taxes because you paid MORE on something. The write-off only saves you a fraction of what you pay. So paying for something frivolous that you don't need is still wasting more money than you are saving and doesn't make sense.
@@MrChadx1if the vehicle weighs over 7,000 pounds you can write off 70% of the vehicles worth.
@@Edgar-gx6ynthat doesn’t mean you save 70 percent on your taxes… that means you get 70 percent of the price to offset your taxable income
@@Cd55650dude 🤦🤦🤦
Actually bad math is why people pay $100k for a truck.
The tax write off makes perfect sense, but these insane prices is why I bought used for my current truck.
Yeah..I bought used 2019 about 2 years ago , had 90k was a big p.o.s rode hard and put away wet , I returned it back to the dealer with in 2 weeks and went to different dealership, went brand new just so I didn't end up with someone else's headache, get waay better finance rate, with full warranty
I would save $12k and get the AT4 Sierra that was $72k. Same price as the ZR2 Silverado. But that’s just me because I wouldn’t be doing wild off-roading in a $70k or more vehicle.
Then get a 2wd
@@macbook802???
Maybe we should tell GM they screwed up on the prices
most ppl who are not into truck have no idea that GMC is a luxury brand, they just see a GM truck
It's always been that way. Gmc are quality trucks professionally built day shift Monday to Friday, chevys are built night shifts and weekends.
Dream on...not even close to reality...
🤣🤣🤣
@buckhorncortez there's always been a number of small details that GMC gets that chevy dont
Wow, guys, I cannot believe how much more for a GMC. I would stick with the Chevy I could barely afford but it will have cruise control.
The Canyon AT4 compared to a similarly equipped colorado trailboss is about 7K more which is nuts. The interior and exterior are a little nicer in the canyon but goddamn.
Trucks seem so overpriced these days . They have to be the highest profit margin for the manufacturers.
TFL...You are right. As long as the public keeps buying these high-end trucks the prices will remain and creep higher. For me I will stick with another F250/350 lariat and get a Carli level suspension, 37's on a 9" wheel and yes, I'll take another 7.3. It will ride better than a Tremor, ZR2 and my favorite way over priced GMC HD. It just won't look as good as the GM's but I can get all that done for low 80's. I am going to wait 1 more year and see how the economy folds and when the dealers offer big incentives make my move.
The interior of the GMC is still just nicer. You get a 12 speaker Bose stereo vs a 7 speaker Bose. The GMC comes w/ the Tailgate stereo. You get the 16-way massage seats that Roman doesn't like. HUD! Also, to match major included equipment, you have to add the tech package and power steps to the Silverado. That reduced the price difference to about $8k. Still a lot, but less.
The fact that Chevrolet still wants to charge extra for adaptive cruise on a truck starting over $70k is amazing (just like charging for cruise on the Colorado TB!)
On the cheap end, the price difference is a $1000. You get LED headlights and chrome bumpers for that.
Yes you are correct, I think most people scoff at the price while not really paying attention to what changes are being made with these packages. I don't think you can even get a subwoofer in a Chevy, not even High Country has one. And while I'm here, everyone talking about how dumb it is to spend money on a truck, they're not sitting in that seat for 50,000+ miles per year, keeping the vehicle for 5-8 years, I want my features and I want it to be right.
GMC is not the luxury line, it’s the professional line.
😂yep that’s what the commercial says
I mean, these are incredible works of engineering. They’re luxurious work machines that can tow and carry heavy things, transport yourself, your friends, your family, your colleagues etc hundreds of thousands of miles in comfort and relative safety. You could probably survive on most of the things you spend money on. You could live in a tiny house or a cheap apartment and eat sale food. You could not have internet or phone service or even electricity if you really tried. But you and me and all of us are humans. We work and we spend the fruits of our labor on what we want and need. More so on the former. So who cares. A more luxurious feeling or better looking truck is a choice even if it’s largely the same as another but for more money. It’s yours, his, her, my money. We do what we want and/or need to do with it.
Manufacturers and dealers can suck it at these prices
I got the chevy LT with every option including leather, the GMC SLE only comes with cloth.
Even my 2023 chevy silverado ZR2 and the same GMC AT4 is close to 8000 difference , same options
I read something a while back - Truck and SUV prices are inflated to discourage buyers - the manufacturers what "us" to purchase the more fuel efficient vehicles so they can meet the federal regulation on MPG averages... Any truth to this?
An owner/boss of a drilling company = guy who mows lawns in my neighborhood over the last few years. Cash was flush. Everyone wanted that AT4X write off.
Lol, Andre will never live down no cruise control!
Like the exterior styling of the GMC better but I prefer the dash layout of the Chevy. Not sure why they put those vents above the main display on the AT4 and Denali, it makes the dash look like it has a big jump in the middle. Chevy has the display at the highest point (since that’s what you look at).
It’s always been like that. Nothing new.
At what point will people stop paying these prices? They are out of control.
I am ordering a new 2024 2500 HD double cab long bed. I can get more features( leather and center console) for less money on the Chevy version over the GMC (cloth seats and folding center seat). I have decided go with the LT trim with leather and a center console for about 1500.00 less than the GMC. Those options are not even offered on the GMC in the double cab long bed. Just more chrome. You can even move up to a higher trim level in the Chevy (LTZ). One would think it would be the other way around.
What kind of hit would sales of these trims take if they capped the tax write-off so that a $40k truck maxed it out?
the tech pkg, retractable running boards, 12 speaker bose system, multi pro audio system, 16 way power seats with massage is what you get for 12k extra
realistically it should probably be 78-79k if priced out by pkgs
Used 2020 or newer nissan titan XD Pro4x with all the fixings for $40K Alex.
It's not even a real HD truck
@@Tool0GT92 right, cant pack a sled deck and 2 sleds legally 🤷🏽♂️
A great comparison would be the $6000 difference between a 2020 Toyota Avalon and a 2020 Es 350 Lexus. Same car, crazy price difference
And the column shifter is still blocking a third of the screen.
Tax write-off is a simplistic rationalization. The problem with that line of thinking is ultimately it becomes an asset and you end up paying taxes on the vehicle as an asset. You'd have to turn the truck over every 3-5 years (depending upon state tax laws) for the truck to work as a tax write-off.
It it an option to get a max towing package in a GAS burner? also, I wish Chevy would put the side fender flare markers above the wheels.
The online builder forces you to add the diesel in my experience.
@@TheFarmersLife same here I've heard yes and no but can't get a 100% complete answer. I don't want to spend 10k for a diesel that will have issues later. Thank you for the reply 👊
Regular AT4 is better for the money. May not have the suspension of the x or zr2, but the interior and exterior looks better than the chevy
At4 is the best sweet spot of off road and luxury. If I can do it again that would easily be my pick.
Many of the upgrades are a joke, or should be standard items. I really hate listening to reviews that try and justify some of the crap. Oh look, 2500 imprinted in the bumper! Oh look, the Chevy bow tie lights up! Keep it... my days off buying new every two to three years is gone.
Its about a Tax write off for business owners like an s corporation. You can take 100% depreciation in the year purchased. So 100 grand in gross earnings is lowered by costs of the truck. Say 75k
When you consider small business owners are paying north of 10 grand a quarter in estimated taxes on estimated earnings ( not including payroll taxes)...well uncle Sam is getting paid for doing nothing while you hustle ...taxes are excessive. A nice new Truck is excessive yes..but it could save you as much 20 grand in taxes...
Pay sam 20 or 25 grand extra this year or get a new Truck?
Taxes are our biggest expense. Vehicles cost money, an endless pit.
Its a double edge sword...
Love this channel
I’m not seeing these price differences when you price them out on the website. Also, the diesel is about $1000 cheaper than the V8. I guess a lot changes in six months lol
Guys trim levels aren’t comparable. You would have to compare with the zr2 bison and at4x
I mean this is not the full story. I am looking at a GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation with 3.0L Duramax pretty much fully loaded. 13,400lb tow capacity and excellent mileage. $58,000 with the promotion right. That’s the best deal I’ve seen on a truck that nice with that kind of capability in like a decade. A Silverado of similar spec would cost $thousands more.
Just don’t buy a brand-new truck from the factory without a good promotion or big incentives and you can get most of these GMC’s for reasonably similar prices. And they are worth a bit more IMO anyways because they are a little bit more premium and look better too.
Wow! What ever happened to GMC being 'Professional Grade?' It used to be the working man's brand over a Chevy.
Perfect trucks to compare
I love chevy more that gmc
I think the AT4X is equivalent to the Bison ZR2
Some people like paying a double price for a truck that won’t be worth a third of the price in a couple of years lol
For that price i better be able to launch it over a dirt pile like the Fall Guy and land with no damage 😂
I am looking at buying one of these two. The ZR2 or AT4X. Been looking for a month now. The Chevy ones are 10k less on MSRPand only have a 5K markup. GMC however have a 5-14K markup from the dealers. The ZR2 with same options is 10K less. The chevy has better looking wheels also. The all black and AEV ones look great.
Your nuts to pay markup I. These, you mine as well just get a tattoo that says stupid
@@philipparana9225 should look in the mirror bud!!!
Same power trains, but you completely ignored the standard tech/interior features on the GMC. If you equipped the Chevy with all that comes standard on the GMC, you’ll find the price quite similar.
Bunch of poor people "I would never pay that" , noooo you could never pay that and thats why you're mad work harder or just admire the truck and move on thats why you watched a video about a Truck you cant afford anyway to admire it
When are we expecting that next re-design of the 1500 trucks from Chevy/GM? 2025 or 2026?
I remember when my parents bought a 2012 GMC 3500 Denali dually brand new for $46,000 out the door. They still have the truck it has just over 203,000 miles still runs great I don’t think they’ll ever get rid of it.
It is hard to imagine that truck is now more than twice the price 11 years laterBidenflation is real.
The AT4X is the wrong comparison. ZR2 matches up with the AT4
The prices could be cheaper if these CEOs wasn’t making 20 million plus a year not counting the boards members getting their share.
The way things are going in 10 years you will be spending 100k for a base model and 180k for a loaded model. The average work class will be back to horse and buggy sooner than we know it. Keeping my paid off 2020 lariat f250 powerstroke. I paid 69k for it brand new in 2020. I just hit 45k miles on it.
do they have same seat and engine?
I enjoy The TFL Truck
2024 Sierra Elevation $50,000 and change. 2024 Silverado Custom $46 000 and change.
The ZR2 is more comparable to the AT4, not the AT4X...
I’m thinking of buying the zr2 with the gas Just not sure if it will fit in my garage
Probably not it's huge
FYI they make this thing called a measuring tape, you should check it out
Just build a bigger garage & claim a tax write off for that too?
What is comparable to the GMC AT4 in the Chevy and Ford lineups?
i would say probably the raptor or the tremor, and for chevy it would be the trail boss
Plus 10,000 for taxes, license, and registration.👎
No one can afford homes and soon, no one can afford cars....☹
I have both , and so do a lot of other people. And I worked for it .
Aren't you special 😁.....or maybe you like getting hosed ?😆 @@kenj.8897
Exactly! 12 hour days for last 30 years gets a house and a few vehicles, boats n snowmobiles, gotta work to play🤷🏽♂️
Enjoy.... you deserve it....@@MMikeHD3904
Chevy to gmc is not the same jump as Toyota to Lexus. Maybe Denali but that’s pushing it
That is the At4 x. Get your facts straight. Gmc makes an At4 6.6. gas. For about 76k. You picked the high-end AT4. This truck you picked beats the High country package in Chevy.
So for luxury you need to go 4wd. Good to know
I for one am TIRED of playing this game = will Not be paying insane $$$ for a vehicle PERIOD.
** Please look into this ** My new 2024 Chevy 2500HD LTZ Z71 had a major limp mode failure at 308 miles. I bought this truck last week. Upon researching this, this is a thing. There is a problem here!!! I am pissed!!! I can't tow with this issue. I can't use the vehicle. The dealer is back logged and has no loaner vehicles. Planned? Hum!!! Lemon law ahead!!!!
You got 2 weeks to return it, naybe even 30 days ! I did with a previous truck after I owned it for 2 weeks , was p.o.s , gave it back to the dealership and went elsewhere and got new 2021
It happened again. In the shop today. Software update and we will see what happens. I expect to have another failure. We will see. 2nd failure at 500 miles.@@MMikeHD3904
That's ridiculous. The ZR2 HD actually looks better.
Ill just buy a 40k squarebody & run that for 30 years. These new trucks are such a far cry from even 15 years ago. They're basically lifted cadillacs in the good and bad.
OVERPRICED
Can but]y a nice BMW instead of a Truck. Ridiculous. People need to just stop buying.
Buy a Trailer because you will need it
Just get the chevy diesel then
And people whine about the cost of EV’s 🤦🏻♂️
Well, even at a $46k starting price for an ICE truck, you have more range and capability than an EV "truck" at $115k price. But when you hit $95k+ for an ICE truck, it's more than just capabilities at that point, it's about features and status, and value and affordability become less of an issue to the buyer.
@@AkioWasRight I see your point. Makes sense. Personally, I feel most truck buyers are going for status rather than necessity. I think most truck buyers use them for simple day to day tasks, and rarely if ever use them to their fullest potential.
@@Bum_Hip Even if it's not a status symbol, it's often the best way for a business owner to lower tax duties. The more expensive the truck, the more deductions each year.
GMC!
How the heck do people afford these?!
They can’t. So they finance them.
At the end of the day you are still driving inside the worst effort interiors offered. IYKYK GM font.
Bet you I will…
The gmc looks better than the Chevy.
So expensive. Priced for suckers. If you have cash to buy and will not hurt your finances, then all power to you. But financing. NOPE.
Finance charges are deductible expenses. And if you finance long term, you can pretty much drive the truck for nothing each year.
@@AkioWasRightOnly if you "use" them for "business". Most people don't own or run a business. So most people can't drive a truck for "free" unless they are using the business write off legal loopholes.
Comparing the same truck 😂
GMC gives you more. still expensive.

Put this shut on tfl truck ffs
Tax write offs…
GMC has those funky lights in the fender flare. I’m out on the ugly 💩 alone.
Have you seen the front end of the Chevy? That made this long time Chevy owner buy the GMC!
That was a waste of my time...why don't you go through each upgrade or difference for the 12k....no body learned anything here...lame
What you guys don’t know, is that GMC has better built quality.
How? They come off the same assembly line using 99% the same parts
@@corvettelifejones8625 maybe they don’t come off the same assembly line, I’ve had gmc sierras and they’ve lasted longer than the Silverados.
GMC & Chevy remind me of Nissan. Every year, the model changes, different grills, square, round, odd wheel wells. Getting uglier too.
