Thanks! Clear instructions. Mentioned socket sizes several times. Gor straight to the point with it all. I just swapped my trucks' battery in -20 Celsius and it only took me 10 minutes. My hands managed to dodge the frost bite! 😊
Thank you for the very helpful tutorial. When I first brought the battery home I thought it was the wrong one until watching your video. I'm a 57 year old widow and have never done anything like this before. Your instructional video made replacing the battery so easy. Thanks again.
Thanks Bryan. My battery died today on our 2016 GMC Sierra. This video was the best how to video I have watched on You Tube to date. Thanks for saving me so much time and money.
Bravo! That battery setup scared the hell out of me. This video told me everything I needed to know, down to what sockets I needed. I called my father-in-law for moral support and had the battery in the driveway when he arrived to take me to the shop. I saved money and earned some father-in-law street credit. Thanks again.
Thank you Bryan, great video. I changed this battery 3 years age and I took way more off to access the battery than I needed to. Your instructions were spot on.
Outstanding video. First time I’ve had to change my battery in this truck. Bought it brand new 9 years ago. Couldn’t t have done it without you. Very much appreciated!!!
I have a 2017 GMC sierra 1500 SLT. I had original equipment battery that went ba. The battery was replaced in 2023. I have never had a battery removal that was this extensive. What I don’t understand et is a blank battery plate to mount a battery that much easier to access on the drivers side.
Thank you for the video! The cross eyed guy at the auto part store tried to tell me it was a hour job to replace the battery. I couldn't believe a battery swap would take that long and had to search it. I've been playing battery cranking power roulette for about a month now. I can take care of this during my lunch break.
Seriously this video gave me the confidence to do this myself I was so confused the first time I popped the hood and saw a fuse thing on top of my battery
Dude! Popping the hood and finding everything that was attached to the battery was a little bit of an “ah shit” moment. Your video was awesome. Made replacement easy. Many thanks!
First impression when I lifted the hood, said no way I can do this. Watched this video, grabbed the tools mentioned and got it done. Great walk through video, thanks for mentioning the tools needed.
I like your instructions. Straight, short, and to the point. There is another vid on this battery change but it is 7 minutes longer and I ain't got time for that.
I just bought my 2017 last week and was wondering about the battery. Wow what a chore just for a battery. But thank you for the video. I'm saving this for in the future.
I’ve seen a few videos about replacing the battery and this is the best video by far. You make it look easy. I’ve seen the coolant reservoir being moved to the side to pull the battery out to keep it from turning it.
Nice job installing this battery. The only things I would have done differently would be to clean under and around the battery tray location while the battery is out of the truck. Poor grounding has also been an issue with these trucks, so I would have taken care of any grounding connections in this general location while the battery was out as well. I'm a bit OCD to some degree when doing maintenance on my truck.
I just changed the battery in a 2017 three days ago. What's the most frustrating thing to me is all the space on the driver side, where the battery could have gone and been easier to change.
Thank u for video, but 5:15 had to do mine differently. Had to leave all 3 wires on , and just move distribution box to the side. Still got the job done and saved time.
I would have royally "f"ed things up without this video cause the manual the truck came with makes it clear as mud how to replace the battery. Thanks for your time and effort putting this together. You're a lifesaver.
I miss the days of vehicles without obnoxiously cramped engine bays. Still not as bad as my old dodge intrepid that I had to remove a wheel to get to the battery which was sunk in the passenger wheel well.
This video is great! Only want to add that my replacement battery from Costco did not have the slots on the long side opposite the terminals, so the top fuse plate would not snap in place. However, securing the positive terminal kept it snugly in place.
Thank you for the instructions! I was a bit intimidated by removing and reinstalling the passenger side battery, but your in-depth step by step instructions made the battery replacement easy!
Wondering what the two cables with the blue clips that you are attaching back to the distribution block that sits on top of the battery? I notice that there are two of them and my truck only has the larger of the two!!! Referring to the video at exactly 7 mins. into the video.
Good video but I have a question in this truck you don’t have to do a battery relearn so the truck computer know they have a new battery or like most cars now have?
Good video just did mine only thing is I didn't take off the vertical bracket I had plenty of room but I did snap the bolt on the positive terminal lol so back to parts store!
OK, I just did this on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Configuration is a bit different, the blue snap in plugs are on the other side next to the larger power cords. Battery had 12.5+ VDC showing, I have continuity to ALL connections yet the truck is dead as a door nail. No lights at all, no crank. any ideas?
There is a plastic cover over the bolt on the fender holding in the bracket on my Sierra. That plastic cover runs the entire length of the fender so I can’t get to that bolt unless Intake that plastic cover off (it creates the seal between the hood and the fender). How do you remove this plastic cover?
Great video! I recommend checking the terminal bolt and having a spare handy. Mine was a T-bolt and it snapped, even though just snugging. Took me longer to find that bolt then to do the whole job.
Needed this today. I knew exactly what to look for prior to hitting the garage. Thanks! Was able to swap the battery quickly before dark since I had this 'heads up' on what to do.
Hey Bryan. Great video. My new battery came with a vent plug and a 90 degree elbow for venting outside the vehicle. The battery isn't vented, so I don't need the elbow. I was wondering about the plug. There's nothing in the manual about it. Great point about not tightening with the impact.
I have heard that if you take out the two bolts of coolant tank that it can be moved and battery is real easy to slide in to place without having to fight it and turning battery on its side and end
I just put a new battery in my 2014 Silverado, 4.3 liter. And this morning, I started it up. And the charging gage says 14. Then after it sets there and runs for a while it goes a hair below 14 while running. is that normal? A couple days ago Is when I changed it. And at first it was over 14 1/2 on the gage. Thanks.
It's probably normal I have some tech info on the GM smart charging system that could help you. Watch the video link below and skip toward the end. (33;09) 👇 ua-cam.com/video/Mj6DMtd9gVA/v-deo.html
Got it, but my “black box” is nothing like yours. All of the cables, including those blue snap in ones are on the right side of my battery so there’s no way to remove the lower battery hold in screw until you remove all of those cables as they cover the entire right side of the battery and there is no space to get a ratchet in there.
Great video. Removing the large plastic connector is key to getting enough space to wiggle this out. There is absolutely no excuse for GM to have made this battery so hard to get to/out. Ridiculous.
Thanks, Bryan - very helpful video. Might want to re-install the center bracket post at the bottom before re-attaching the distribution block - especially if you don’t have a ratchet extension. Also, they sell rubber gaskets and terminal grease kits for $4 that are supposed to avoid corrosion on the terminals.
@@Bryan916 There is also a link in the ground cable that acts as a fuse and will burn in half if you inadverantly get polarity reversed when hooking it up. you may have to locate that link under the hood and replace it.
Has anyone else had issues with heat and vents not working like they should after installing a new battery or jumping the old battery? Some funky stuff going on with my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT.
Thanks! Clear instructions. Mentioned socket sizes several times. Gor straight to the point with it all.

Nailed it! Thanks to this video, swapped my battery with zero issues…
You demystified this for me, and saved me a couple of hundred dollars from having the dealership do it. Thank you for an excellent video, sir.
Outstanding video.

Well done, it helped me a lot on my '18 Sierra today! Kinda crazy that we need videos to change out batteries, but that is how it is these days!
I love the “snug ‘em up”! Great job explaining this installation.
Dude! Popping the hood and finding everything that was attached to the battery was a little bit of an “ah shit” moment. Your video was awesome. Made replacement easy. Many thanks!
I’m doing the same thing today on my 18. Thank goodness for UA-cam University! Great video!

“Gotta play Tetris!” Is an understatement at times. Great helpful video.

Yeah getting a negative jumper cable to clamp in that back pole is impossible if you have big clamps
Thank you for this comment. Iam currently losing my fucking mind getting this thing out.
Followed this exactly how you did it, especially how you removed the battery. Phenomenal video, thank you sooo much!!
Glad it helped
This is how You do video and properly explain the whole process.!!! Great 👍 👌 SIR!
Excellent job! Very thankful. You saved me from alot of cursing!!

Best bideo ive seen of changing the battery on a silverado.
Good job on this, no way i could have done it without watching this!!
This was great! Ours died in our 2018 and we were able to change it in a snap. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video...I was confused af..ive never had to remove a car battery this complicated before..
excellent job explaining the details of installing a battery on my truck. Thanks!
I'm replacing mine this weekend, not truck just battery (ha ha)so glad I found this video. To the point and very helpful, that's.
Thanks for the video. You explained everything very methodically. I had to change my battery in my 2018 Gmc Denali. It was very helpful!😎
Dude what a great demonstration performance! Thank you thank you!!!!
FYI you need a 13mm deep socket for the posts under the box. I used a 1/2" open end to tighten, works but not the best.
Thanks!
Thank you!
And here I thought I was going to remove two terminals and a battery clamp... Not too bad of a job tho... Thanks for the vid 🍻
Thank you. Your video was awesome. It helped me replace my 2014 gmc Sierra 1500 sle truck battery.

Thanks for sharing! Excellent presentation and very clear! Great Job!

Wonderful! You have a calming voice! But I have 4 cables and 3 screws?! What do I do? Add a screw where it’s an empty slot?
Well done video. Very informative and helpful, thank you very much. Well organized also, even the music matched up well.

what happens if you arch the battery and blow fuse block. we replaced fuse block and now don't have power to radio and doors on passenger side.
Check your fuses, more than likely you pop one!

This was very helpful today …thanks brother
DID YOU INSTALL MEMORY SAVER BEFORE REMOVING POSITIVE CABLE ?
No
Life saver, Dude! Swapping a battery at -26F is no fun.
Awesome instruction .
Really appreciate this video. Thanks.
My pleasure!
Thank you very much.
Was very helpful. 😊
Thank! Very appreciated!

Problema con luz de techo , radio y ac . El radio fue fácil cambiar el fusible . Viene uno de repuesto en la camioneta .
Had to do this yesterday
Best video I’ve watched!!!
You the man
Thank you, great help saved me money
great video presentation
Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful!
Man! Improper orientation of the wires is what I think is giving me all kinds of electrical problems!
Thank, I did it with you elp 👍
