Same. I think Azusa fits in with the path to enlightenment when u think about how u need love and will to reach Chim. If boethia is the will, then Azura is the love because in order to worship azura, you have to love yourself. In order to not zero sum, you have to love yourself enough to think ur real.
While I can understand Scott's point of view on the Anticipations and Tribunal gender thing, I like that Boethiah is fluid in which gender they appear. It's like they're nonverbally saying "Anyone can overcome their obstacles, be a great warrior, and bloodily challenge authority, be they male, female, somewhere in-between, or neither."
Good interpretation, although I suppose it's because many would associate that with Mephala, as she already sort of fills that role as a hermaphrodite.
The reason they refer to Boethia as being amongst the strongest of Padomaics in the Songs of Wulfharth is to show that the Nords acknowledge Boethia as being powerful because of her connection to Padomay and thus to Lorkhan as a means of showing that Nerevar was a powerful leader of the Chimer due to him being the son of Boethia, making him equally connected to Padomay/Lorkhan. Basically, they were saying Boethia/Nerevar were strong because they were more like the Nords ideologically than other elves were. Essentially stating that the strongest of the Elves and Daedra were only strong because of the traits they shared with Nords/Men. Its Nordic self-glorification by acknowledging your enemy's strength as traits borrowed from or shared with the Nords themselves.
Another strong connection between Azura and Lorkhan would be that she is the godess of dusk and dawn and tied strongly to the the moons which are considered to be Lorkhans dead body.

Please do a podcast on Akatosh and his connections to Lorkhan because I have theory that both the Time God(s) and Lorkhan (Space) are not really opposed to each other and are only enacting the each Kalpa's events only letting the Kalpa to become reset and that both will always make sure there is an avatar or representative of their influence to help keep the cycle going. For Akatosh/Auriel it could be seen through the Covenant with Alessia, the Avatar of Akatosh (Martin Septim), and even the Last Dragonborn as though he/she may be Shezzarine they also prevented Auriel's Bow from falling into Vampiric hands, Stopped Alduin and even defeated Miraak for his betrayal of Akatosh's ,( to stop Alduin in MErethic Era, though the dragonblood in the may have corrupted him). With Lorkhan, his representatives could be seen through figures such as Talos (Hjalti,Ysmir, and Zurin Arctus), the Dovahkiin, and even through figures such as Wulf who was seen in Morrowind. And what did all figures do? They all essentially kept the kalpic cycle continuous in it's function.
Akatosh wants to keep the Kalper going because next Kalper it's Peryite's turn. I wonder how the Prince of Pestilence is reacting to getting cockblocked by the Dovakiin.
@@ClvrBstrd I'm pretty sure it's a common consensus now, I hope, because yeah when I look at most versions of both Aka and Lorkhan there just seems to be something off, like with Auriel for example, why would he even consider hearing out Alessia in her prayers, now I am aware of the theory that it was actually Lorkhan who heard her prayers, but then what about the covenant with Alessia herself, with Martin becoming an Avatar of Akatosh. This isn't to say that the Aedra can't have multiple derivations or forms and I still think the Time God is very much broken in the sense that time is split between beginning, middle and end, but what I think is that each aspect of Akatosh is him essentially transforming from one form to another, with Auriel initially despising creation, but eventually changing to view it in a more positive light but eventually coming to the conclusion that the experiment must eventually end, with him destroying time and space so it may restart, as Alduin but he essentially loses himself in each derivation. However, I think that throughout the games regardless of whoever tries mess with time or space (Lorkhan), Akatosh and Lorkhan will influence events before they take place to put things back into order. Think about it why would the time God even keep things going with each chaotic event in Nirn almost destroying it, this includes other versions too. I think that both Lorkhan and Akatosh are going to decide when the time is right to restart the Kalpa, and no matter who decides against it, in most recent events the Thalmor, they will fail, because they do not even realize this truth that both are the same, even the Marukharthi selective didn't realize this too, that when they tried to remove the elven "taint" from Akatosh they didn't realize that the ensuing dragon-break would just reallign and nothing would change about Akatosh, as we only know they tried and it caused a dragon-break but don't know if they succeeded, and I think the Thalmor with the towers will fail too because Auriel/Akatosh/Ruptga etc and Lorkhan/Shot/Shezzar will send a representative or an avatar to aid the hero of the next big event or just actually send the hero themselves much like Martin became an avatar of the time God, the Dovahkiin represented both time and space gods (Aka and Lorkhan), or in Morrowind with Talos, a oversoul consisting of three possible Shezzarines and two Dragonborn, sending Wulf to aid the Nerevarine, with him representing both though he did mantle Lorkhan.
@@denakarganta1502 ua-cam.com/video/GEBFjAxr3dw/v-deo.html The Dragon Break DID change a lot though, and there are things that Auriel has done that Akatosh simply wouldn't have. They may have multiple aspects but the ones of Past Present and Future has a pretty solid role to play here. Auriel would definitely be with the Mer and helping them out, and the Humans after Allesia's rebellion did what they did specifically because they didn't want to bend the knee to Auriel, the Elven diety. Given how the Ancestry and historical knowledge of the Elves is pretty astounding, the fact Auriel is more depicted as an Eagle or perhaps he's a feathered Dragon-like bird by the Elves definitely shows that something did indeed change. Akatosh being a Dragon, and Alduin being first Born or just eventually created by Akatosh and not Auriel meant he'd also be a Dragon as well. The whole point of the Dragon Breaks is that when they happen, all that transpired in that "time frame" is true and not true all at the same time, till its fixed. Meaning, he very well could've been split up, and when time came back together, and the Empire went along, Akatosh simply has more of a presence given he has more worshippers than Auriel, based on sheer number of prayers from the Humans and others who worship him, compared to the races of Mer that worship Auriel, but as Elves are naturally fewer in number.
I'm imagining a couple of Bethesda developers sitting around, watching this with beer and popcorn and going "dju write that?" "Uh, yeah, but I was high at the time. What did they say about it? We need to remember that for ES6."

Look at Azura's stories. Shes the Daedra of Metamorphoses and Change. Her rage changed the Chimer to Dunmer She set the shapes of the Khajiit She may have been the reason for why Aldmer became Orismer, (though Boethiah holds a corrupt form of Trinimac) but why Malacath became beastly. She is dawn and dusk, liminal times of shifting.
Why would a being as powerful as Boethiah need such a fickle and empty thing as "respect." She already knows her power, he already knows his might. By simply breathing, you become but dust in the eyes of Boethiah.
Anyone else always think Boethiah’s name in their head in the same song-songy way Activia is said in it’s advertisements? You know... “Activiaaaa”? Boethiaaaaaaaah!... ...No? Just me?

@Wirr Ling Well, how so? I know a part of the OG Trinimac remains in Malacath, if what I've heard about Malacath's realm is accurate, there's a part in it that isn't full of ash and stuff, a part that's green and beautiful, and that it's the last bit of Trinimac left. Maybe a super cool warrior Altmer can achieve Chim and mantle the last bit of Trinimac, maybe with Malacath's help. Maybe after that happens, Malacath will deform eve further in appearance, showing the full transition from Aedric Trinimac to Daedric Malacath, and the new Trinimac will combine the teachings of the old one and Malacath together.
Anyone who likes Boethiah needs to find the mod "The Tournament of the Ten bloods" on the Nexus. It's not the biggest or longest mod but it's oh so good.
My take on why Boethia would be angered by the Tribunal using Lorkhan's heart is that She wants mortals to experience the trials and suffering of living life as a mortal until they have gained the understanding of how to transcend mortality, and that becoming a god by using the Heart is cheating that process. On top of cheating Boethia's process, they then actively make life easier for the Dunmer by using the power granted by the Heart, which is the opposite of what Boethia wants. In "Gamer Speak", rather than grinding to level up, the Tribunal opened Console Commands to instantly reach Max Level/Power.

Oh god, I remember I would watch Shoddycast podcasts in anticipation for ESO... Which is when I found you guys, which means... It's been 7 years since I graduated high school and I've been watching you for 8 👀 Do you guys still talk to Giuseppe?
The impression of Boethiah I got from Skyrim was more that she was about randomly murdering unsuspecting people, which is not the same as "overcoming odds." Boethiah's book implies she wants her followers to just take potshots at bystanders with daggers.
I think both of you guys are misinterpreting it. She just doesn't like weakness. It doesn't mean to "kill random people". To gain her favor means killing those that are stronger than you more "higher up" than you In hopes that you would become more hardened or to reach your ambition (whether it be stabbing a king and taking his place or beating the shit out of a giant and swinging it's club around as your own)
I played Arena in high school, but I am younger than a "boomer". My parents are boomers, but I guess everyone over 30 seems ancient to you wee lads. Speaking of older TES games, you guys need to make a video that discusses the "spiritual prequal" to Arena, which of course is Pacman (and then its sequel Mrs Pacman). Boethiah was originally a mortal named Pacman (and then later Mrs Pacman, which is where the concept of Boethiah's shifting gender came from). Through their struggles in the "arena", they consumed everything possible until clearing the entire plane at which point, the next kalpa begins, and the struggle restarts. It was only after countless attempts at winning finishing kalpa after kalpa (because there would always be another kalpa) that they realized the truth: the struggle itself is madness and thus the true struggle is to stop struggling. All players of Pacman eventually realize this and thus achieve chim escaping the endless cycles. Thus, Boethiah is really the embodiment of the contradictory notion of "struggling to stop struggling" which is why they come in both genders, which is how this contradictory notion expresses itself to mortals. And of course, their path to chim is through struggle and deeds (gobbling power pellets and dispatching enemies only to see them respawn) over and over until you realize that the struggle itself is vain, cease the struggle, and thus transcend the arena altogether. We need that video.
This lore might be a bit too deep for some elder scrolls fans. That is an interesting take on Pacman, and a good description of the process you went through playing any Atari or Coleco game.
There's not too much info on Nerevars early life. My headcanon is that he came from nothing, became a warlord by acting through boethiahs sphere. Painting his will upon the chimer people, eventually marrying into the indoril
A good reasoning behind boethiah not being cool with the tribunal is that they in theory they did it 'for the greater good of their people'(while they were fairly self serving, they definitely did a TON of good stuff for the dunmer, protecting them from strife and struggel, giving prosperity, subjegating their will, and even formalizing internal strife to a degree that it's no longer a cutthroat society). This seems to not only be antagonistic to boethiah's preferred motivations BUT ALSO precludes the other chimer/dunmer(the people boethiah would likely identify with as their selected people the most) from genuine 'overcoming' of existence.
I feel fundamentally the violent path that Boethia represents is a dead end. When pursuing power and overcoming for it's own sake you doom yourself to a rote existence that is arguably as bad or worse than death. Naarvare is the best though for his dedication to what Azura represents, beauty and love for ones self and life that lends purpose to the struggle of Boethia.
Easily my Favorite daedric god challenges the status quo in order to see if your strong enough to handle the challenge you either find yourself or find yourself lacking
I'm personally not a fan of a life of constant violence for it's own sake and murderous distain for mercy. Reality is that would most likely end up dead and forgotten, and if not you would lead a brutal and pointless life even after achieving ascension.
@@joelsasmad Their timeline versus our with the thing they had to go through not all of her teachings you should follow but learning when to deceive lie from truth and to lie to achieve your goals in a world full of dangers to you it makes sense in our world of course not so much her exposing triminac and teaching the dunmer that reality was not a curse but a test made them stronger

Boethiah seems so much like Slaneesh from warhammer. Or vice versa? I'm not sure which came first. But apparently evil gods who like eating people is a common thing in fantasy.
I would like it if you could talk about some in game books on the podcast. I recently read "The Red Kitchen Reader" and wondered if you guys would know about the references in it...
11:12 - It makes sense to me too that Boethiah would hate Molag Bal but for a different reason. Molag Bal is all about domination and subservience. It seems to me that, if anything, Boethiah is all about complete freedom and independence. Have no loyalty to anyone, bow to no one. Look out for your own interests only and struggle ruthlessly to accomplish them. That's pretty much the opposite to Molag Bal who demands complete subservience to his will.
13:52 - That's exactly the sort of thing I was talking about. Molag Bal would've loved that guy, bowing to him and cowering before him. Because he's all about subservience. But Boethiah hates that in a follower. She doesn't want subservience. She wants people to be completely independent with no loyalty or deference to any authority, including her own. Basically, both value strength. But Molag Bal values his own strength and others' strength in dominating and enslaving others. Boethiah values the strength of her followers and their strength to overcome or resist the domination or enslavement by others.
18:23 - And Boethiah saying not to worship the divines like that also makes sense. They're also authorities that people become subservient too. And subservience, in Boethiah's mind, makes you weak and flaccid and useless.
25:48 - I think that's true and I think that's because Boethiah simply does not acknowledge the idea of loyalty or authority. I think maybe Boethiah's sphere shouldn't be seen in the sense of encouraging a betrayal of loyalty or an overthrow of authority. That's the mortal perspective on it. But Boethiah doesn't see it that way, I think. She simply doesn't consider loyalty and authority as existing. These things are wind to her. You only act in your interest, to live your life as you see fit, you take what you can take and get what you can get and that's all.
I feel like Boethiah wouldn't have liked what the Tribunal did for the following reasons: One, she and her followers seem to view Lorkhan as sacred. She punished people for simply saying bad things about him. So she probably wouldn't like them corrupting and profaning his heart. Two, as mentioned, just because her sphere is plots, lies, and betrayal doesn't mean she enjoys being lied to or betrayed. I mean there might be some things you could get away with because she'd respect that you have game, but this seems like too much. Three, I feel like she would see using a dead God's artifact, AFTER someone else already slew it's guardians as cheating. They didn't achieve ascendance Using their own power and knowledge, but by stealing from one who couldn't even defend themselves. They alone may not piss off Boethiah, but the fact that there was no real challenge to it that they just waltzed in and took it definitely would.

@@thalmoragent9344 ok thanks for that clarification
I'm imagining a couple of Bethesda developers sitting around, watching this with beer and popcorn and going "dju write that?" "Uh, yeah, but I was high at the time. What did they say about it? We need to remember that for ES6."
If only lol
Kirkbride, the guy who wrote a lot of the lore for the older games and had a big role in Morrowind (he supposedly was the mind behind Vivec being... Vivec) has admitted to having a substance abuse problem
So yeah, you joke but a lot of the lore of ES was writen while high

We come to our elders for lore, the FudgeMuppet tribunal: SCODREMIC.
Boethiah certainly is one of the most fascinating Daedric Princes... Although, they're all fascinating in their own ways!
Look at Azura's stories. Shes the Daedra of Metamorphoses and Change.
Her rage changed the Chimer to Dunmer
She set the shapes of the Khajiit
She may have been the reason for why Aldmer became Orismer, (though Boethiah holds a corrupt form of Trinimac) but why Malacath became beastly.
She is dawn and dusk, liminal times of shifting.
Have a great Sunday everyone
Boethiah doesn't want your respect.
They want you to respect yourself and suffer no insults.
Why would a being as powerful as Boethiah need such a fickle and empty thing as "respect."
She already knows her power, he already knows his might.
By simply breathing, you become but dust in the eyes of Boethiah.
Anyone else always think Boethiah’s name in their head in the same song-songy way Activia is said in it’s advertisements? You know... “Activiaaaa”?
Boethiaaaaaaaah!...
...No? Just me?
Just you bro
I will from now on
Now I do.
Wish you guys would make more of those Alternate History videos. I found the three you made last year fascinating.
What if Alessia's Rebellion had failed? Or if the Argonian Duskfall had never occured? Or if Ysgramor and his sons had died at Saarthal? Or if Potema had won the War of the Red Diamond.
Honestly if my hairline wasnt destroyed already, id sometimes do my hair up like you got it Scott
Early balding sucks lmao
Reishi mushroom extract.
Scott looks like Cary Elwes lmao
dude same. i'm 29 and i'm already 50% of the way to looking like larry david
@@iammaxhailme shifted you think that's bad I'm 24 if I go two weeks without trimming my hair and beard I look like someone you don't want your kids around
Hair transplants....best 5K Ive ever spent.
Loving the hair, Scott 😀
I should probably be finishing my final project lmao
Damn! Last time I was this early, the Empire was still nice and lazy.
I was halfway to Hammerfell.
Rest in peace, my homie Trinimac. May you rise/be mantled and return to the Orbis officially!
@Wirr Ling
Well, how so?
@fudgemuppet
Thank you for making content like you do.
You fellas are quite awesome.
Last time i was this early malacath was trinimac
After 1st 12 hour shift of the week, this is something to calm down with 😁
My take on why Boethia would be angered by the Tribunal using Lorkhan's heart is that She wants mortals to experience the trials and suffering of living life as a mortal until they have gained the understanding of how to transcend mortality, and that becoming a god by using the Heart is cheating that process.
Fudgemuppet are the Dark Souls of Elder Scrolls youtubers. There are three of them, and the one in the middle has a different feel which can be appreciated in its own way.
Imagine creating a world populated by your own descendants only for some goth chicks to turn them emo.
That's how the aedra feel about the chimer.
Thank the Godhead I've always been on the Daedric side of the equation!
Male Azura would be taking on the appearance of Narrevar, her favorite mortal, IMO
That's an interesting notion.
Khajiit Nerevarine for the win! (I'm pretty sure the khajiit have their own version which could be the same thing - the Dro-Zira prophecy)
Collab with Young Scrolls, the saint of tonal architecture, please.
This is my second time watching this. I love Boethiah.
The Boethia/Lorkhan ”relation” is one of my favourite aspects from the Elder Scrolls lore. Great episode!
Oh god, I remember I would watch Shoddycast podcasts in anticipation for ESO... Which is when I found you guys, which means... It's been 7 years since I graduated high school and I've been watching you for 8 👀
Do you guys still talk to Giuseppe?
The impression of Boethiah I got from Skyrim was more that she was about randomly murdering unsuspecting people, which is not the same as "overcoming odds." Boethiah's book implies she wants her followers to just take potshots at bystanders with daggers.
I think both of you guys are misinterpreting it. She just doesn't like weakness. It doesn't mean to "kill random people". To gain her favor means killing those that are stronger than you more "higher up" than you In hopes that you would become more hardened or to reach your ambition (whether it be stabbing a king and taking his place or beating the shit out of a giant and swinging it's club around as your own)
I need to watch all these discussions. They help with the Skyrim fan fic I'm writing.
Scott rockin a new cut, looking nice.
Didn't the altmer try to summon a daedric army during the Great War? Its possible the increased daedra worship is probably a hint at that
I played Arena in high school, but I am younger than a "boomer".
This video is the dark souls of elder scrolls podcasts
Stellar work as ever, lads.
It's the towers! The Throat, White Gold, and the Admantine. Talos guide you.
Welp, all the others have been deactivated, so I guess my Mer bois have just a few more ways to go!
There's not too much info on Nerevars early life. My headcanon is that he came from nothing, became a warlord by acting through boethiahs sphere. Painting his will upon the chimer people, eventually marrying into the indoril
I love this channel and can't wait to see streams in the future!
If I lived on Tamriel I’d totally worship Boethiah because I need some motivation in my life.
I would do Hercine. He seems the fairest daedric prince.
You'd probably end up dead.
I LOVE ELDER SCROLLS LEGENDS
Scott’s hair is looking fresh 🤝
When we get old and say things like "Skyrim was the greatest" they'll call us Greyneckbeards.
Was goldbrand made in the sky forge?! New head canon
You guys need to do episodes all about each game in the series (specifically ESO)
Drew=Altmer, Scott=Wood Elf, Michael=Breton
I thought i was the only person on earth who remembered the shoddycast eso podcast
I felt old when you said "I remember being in high school in 2013." Then you said YOU feel like boomers and that made me feel REALLY old.
Already 43 rd podcast, 👍
Aren't ayleids just high elves? isn't there a loading screen in oblivion that called them heartland high elves. Maybe they are like a separate kingdom from summerset.
just watched the ayleid podcast so that is why I am wondering
What would happen if a god, like Molag bal realised he was just a part of the god head ? Can he achieve Chim? Or....? 🤨🧐
I was just finished last podcast, ayeeee
Thanks guys, Divines bless your kind hearts 💕
Scott lookin fresh!
Boethiah seems so much like Slaneesh from warhammer. Or vice versa? I'm not sure which came first. But apparently evil gods who like eating people is a common thing in fantasy.
Boethiah Reminds me more of Tzeentch. Mephala and Molag Bal are very Slaaneshi tho.
I would like it if you could talk about some in game books on the podcast. I recently read "The Red Kitchen Reader" and wondered if you guys would know about the references in it...
Fudge should look into the movie "the time machine"also a book. it's like real life falmer. Maybe even the inspiration for them.
blessed be
Join the beard gang Scott🧔🏻
I bet you could rock it
11:12 - It makes sense to me too that Boethiah would hate Molag Bal but for a different reason.
You only act in your interest, to live your life as you see fit, you take what you can take and get what you can get and that's all.
love it
Could dragons of the north be Akavir?
It's not exactly north but it has dragons and katanas are their thing
If you guys ever run out of Podcast ideas please react to the `how to beat skyrim without walking‘ video
I played Daggerfall ... I'm an elder scrolls boomer 😭
Scott rocking the generic Stockholm boy haircut haha I love it
What if Goldbrand was forged by Ysmir? He's called the Dragon of the North. What if the legend originated from an ancient game of Telephone?
old man scott got gray hairs from the ice berg video
They just want their followers to reach their full potential, through any means necessary.
Buzzfeed article headline: Boethia LITERALLY eats Trinamac and shits him out!
19:05 WHOA elder scrolls writers going full 93 93/93 on us?
It feels weird hearing Shoddycast referenced as an Elder Scrolls channel again
Willburger is connected to love.
Podcast about Veloth, please.
I feel like Boethiah wouldn't have liked what the Tribunal did for the following reasons:
One, she and her followers seem to view Lorkhan as sacred.
“The only amusement I tolerate is my own”.
You may walk the path but if you’re not aligned with her, you’re done.
