As they have studied and worshiped vermina for centuries, they begin to understand the world for what it actually is, a dream, and they slowly can start to manipulate the world around them. My worst nightmare was when I (in the dream) was investigating a haunted mine, I was trapped in a transitional mine-shaft between two ore-elevators, the one that took me down had already ascended back. Then I hear that the other one from the deep starts to ascend to my position, and somehow I knew that it was full of crazed cave-dwelling troglodytes that would rape and torture me, and there was nothing I could do. Luckily in my panic I willed myself to awake, which I did. Woke up with my heart pounding like crazy, scared as hell.
Funniest nightmare I've had was waiting in line all day to pick up Elder Scrolls 6 on release day only to get home and find out that the game is Skyrim 2
Although I do have plenty of dreams about situations that could be considered frightening, I rarely count them as nightmares because inside the dream I am calm. The hilarious thing is, if I do have a nightmare it's usually about a small creature/monster, usually about 6 inches (15 cm). In these nightmares I know this creature is dangerous in some way, but nobody believes me, either saying something so small must be harmless or sometimes finding it cute.
12:16 reminds me of a dream I had where monsters kept running towards me and after they reached me a bunch of times I eventually got sick of getting caught and punched one in the face and woke up.
Im a fan of Wayrests questline in ESO, like I actually felt paranoia finding out which local leaders were turning traitor from Vaerminas influence. I was suprised how powerful they potrayed our Daedric Prince of dreams, like sure she had an army of insane peasants following her but I found it incredibly threatning that she was able to turn good friends on each other and knights turn on the nobles they're supposed to protect. There's a line in the questline that gave me goosebumps went somethin like "Congratulaions on saving your general, but you have sacrificed your king". Like she legit got our man King Emeric suicidal and to me looked like she was gonna replace him with her mf skeleton chad boyfriend. I really enjoyed it tbh
Vaermina's "truth" could be a delusion, or possibly a statement on Mundus being Lorkhan's realm of Oblivion? Less "what I'm showing you is the Really Real" and more "what you will wake up to is no more substantial than this, the dreamings of a higher being." RE: the story of Vaermina and Sheogorath, I've always seen the various stories of Sheogorath overcoming [Insert Prince Here] at their own game as being apocryphal. I don't think Shaggy Wrath is much of a patron of truth in any sense, and maybe these stories propagate more due to his own amusement at peoples' belief in them than anything else. Which might, in a sense, add up to the same thing, him beating them at their own games (in the minds of their own worshipers, even though it didn't actually happen).
Ok a bad dream that stuck with me ' I was walking across a cricket pitch with my mates, when I heard a roaring coming from behind some house's on the boundary, then a plane appeared in view coming straight for the field. I was in the way and got crushed by the wheels. '
On a different note, has anyone ever had a dream within a dream? I actually did, several years before that movie ever came out. It really stuck in my head because it startled me so much. It wasn't scary or exciting, but it still kind of blew my mind. 🤯
My funniest nightmare had to do with an evil emu, that was out to get me. I hid under a bridge, in a ditch full of cold water. The emu slowly looked over the edge, evil intentions in its eyes. In that dream, as well as in real life, I made a scared sound, kinda like "huuuu". Because I physically actually made the sound, I woke up because of hearing my own voice. That was the funniest way to wake up from a nightmare I tell you. (in real life, I'm not afraid of emu's, so I have no clue why I would have a nightmare about it)
She is the force that calls the souls of mortals back to Mundus from the Dream Sleave when they wake. Such a force, tearing you from blissful perfection and thrusting you back into harsh Reality, would be seen as a nightmare to the mortal perception, and it is in these nightmares that she plays with their minds.
Maybe when people have dreams like Michael described where its more of a trippy dream but not quite a nightmare, Vaermina can sense that energy and come corrupt your dream, robbing it from the dreamsleeve
Memories vs. Dreams: The brain acts very similarly to things that happen during dreams as it does during everyday life, to the point where you are kind of paralyzed to protect yourself from acting out your dreams. It's one of the explanations for incubi/succubi, dream paralysis, etc and why somnambulism occurs. Granted, we're talking about a fantasy setting but I don't really see the Skyrim quest being about a memory as that absurd.
A recent nightmare that i had involved me and pretty much my entiry family. Everyone was sitting on a long wooden table with a bunch of fondue pots filled with hot oil. The whole table was overrun by mice, everywhere you looked there where a dosen of mice running around, the rest of the table was empty. Weirdly everyone at the table was ok with that (including me), and just started grapping the mice by their tails and dipping them into the hot oil for a few seconds and eat them (including me). I think in my dream the mice had a weirdly sweat taste, in a very dicusting way, but everybody just kept on eating and chatting. After some time i just woke up, weirded out by wtf just happened.
my funniest nightmare i remember is that i went to our kitchen and there was a human sized lady liberty statue in there and i was TERRIFIED of it. it doesn't SOUND scary but in the dream it was the most terrifying thing i had ever seen. in the dream i left the kitchen to run away and got caught in a hurricane and somehow i knew the statue had turned into a hurricane
It would be sick if she had some DLC at some point where we use the Dream World Amulet from Oblivion -- an artifact made by a wizard in that game, not an artifact of Vaermina -- to go to her realm. In Oblivion it had nothing to do with her, but lets you enter dreams. So arguably it should let one move through her realm with more agency than an actual dreamer. Also, it would just be awesome to find the amulet years later when it was a newly made artifact in Oblivion. Maybe, after hundreds of years, it's actually said to be her artifact.
Both your dreams are very relatable 😅👍 we get use to them, right? It doesn't often really scare us anymore, as you said the things happen but you're calm about it. For me that thanslated from me always running from the monsters to bringing the fight to them. I'm kinda proud of my dream self and look up to him. Honestly it has become lile my own super immersive high quality action movies🤣 wish I remembered them more often and forget the ones that are really bad.
what if Jygallag and Peryite are fighting a war throughout Oblivion which is why we dont see the influence of Jyg. They're both important for natural order, but both do it in completely different ways.
Imagine Jurrasic Park meets Barny and the Smurfs, that one still haunts me today. Purple Dinos, scary looking as Jurrasic Park, Short Blue Hobbit people and im the only regular looking person. Everything sky, atmosphere, Ground, everything had a Purpleish hue. That was scary because wasnt no cool super powers or magic or nothing. I was trying not to die lol
Skyrim, an eleven year old game at this point, has gotten many criticism over the years on things they could improve on in the many, many "versions" of the game that they have released, but looking at the series as a whole each game has brought a lot to an amazing amount of depth to the world of tamriel, and it really pleases me that there are still so many channels putting out quality content on skyrim and its predecessors 👍❤
Yeah hindsight certainly is something bgs did not have when making skyrim hopefully tes6 will be more of an 'elder scrolls' game because I have a feeling bgs really want to perfect tes 6
Yeah, but the Game does heavily water down and kinda toss out all the more interesting Lore on the Nords. Old Nordic Lore, as well as weapon variety and story depth in like say, Morrowind, all of that was taken away and watered down in Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim. But still, they did add a few cool things, admittedly, so while the Hate isn't _fully_ warranted, the disappointment is understandable
@@ciaranmck4469 i honestly hope they are truly waiting until tue technology advances enough to realize their vision for tes 6 as they have said, but then I see the games they have made since and I am concerned they will continue down the road of streaming it into action games with little roleplaying but they make the worldbuilding pretty(which is appreciated when done well) to distract us from the fact the world makes very little sence and lacks true depth, world and npc simulation, and meaningful quest developments that impact the world. Things that do try to do those things far too often end on the chopping block until it is scaled down into the usual patterns of the games.
@@thalmoragent9344 i fully agree with you on that front. Oblivion was a disappointment in providing a unique world to explore, instead relying on cliche high fantasy tropes to contrast the realms of oblivion, which were well done but all the same and repetitive. But the quests outside of the main questline were more creative and the guild quests retained more of the morrowind questlines which aim to make you feel as just a tiny entity in that overwelming world amd you slowly grow into the power fantasy having truly earned it. By the time they made skyrim it was chosen one power fantasy from just about the start of the game. And yeah both oblivion and skyrim were highly untrue to the previously established lore. They patch the changes up with fun lore bits but it is plain to see that the provinces described were better than the provinces delivered. Still, it doesn't still have a community for no reason😊
I think it would be interesting if Zenimax, BS, or BGS would expand upon Vaermina to be almost like an analogue to Sanguine. Instead of offering hedonism in the form of debauchery, she could offer bliss in the form of escapism. Taking a Dagoth Ur angle with Vaermina worship would also make her a lot more interesting, even better if they could find a way to incorporate Vaermina's influence into Dagoth's "Dreamers." Even including concepts like "inception" where worshippers call upon Vaermina to inspire political figures to see things their way. There's honestly a lot of cool and creative ways to flesh out the influence of The Prince of Dreams. Or even something like Vaermina being responsible for conspiracy theories due to their association to fear, which could be influenced through dreams. Imagine if every irrational conspiracy theorist in TES VI considered themself a "Waking Dreamer" with rhetoric similar to Dagoth Ur's Dreamers.
To Scott’s point about being unsure as to what the Vaermina worshipper’s mean when they hype up her realm as a sort of “Promised Land”: I think the cultists are saying the world of dreams and nightmares they inhabit is more ‘real’ than reality because it’s a state of immaterial consciousness, which would be what the universe was like before the creation of Mundus. It’s truer because it was there before, and is the pattern underlying the physical realm.
Not really since these Dreams can manifest into reality. Dreams are very real and can destroy you. If Bethesda had that old school creativity Dawnstar would have been a Silent Hill like warped reality dreamscape quest that you'd have to unravel and either banish or keep the Skull of Corruption.
so I'm getting the sense that she's the daedric prince of altered states of consciousness, but where the individual returns to reality unlike with sheorogath
It's funny to me that never once, when doing her quest in Oblivion, did I get the impression that she was evil. Rather, I always thought she and her sphere were cool and fascinating. I was always confused, then, when I would read the in-universe sources about her. Then I did her quest in Skyrim and thought, "Ah, so apparently they felt they didn't communicate her personality well enough in Oblivion so now they're overcorrecting to get their point across." 😂
I had a nightmare when I was like 7 that a giant tree grew out of my house and at the top was a dentist's office which was run by Keebler elves that I had to fight to avoid getting my cavities filled or whatever
I have a character that worships her, and is deluded that killing people in their sleep, or with illusions only send them to a lovely dreamworld where they'll always be happy.
Worst the nightmare I've ever had started off as a lucid dream doing whatever I feel like then blinking and ending up in my house with this thing out of the corner of my eye my best estimation is that it was a little girl dressed up in all white and had no face telling me that I had no power over her and to let her in she got progressively more angry every time I told her no every light in the house turned gray like an old movie as the house shook and as the windows rattled
i saw vaermina in a dream once actually after playing skyrim before bed. she was a big lady made of teeth and black sludge. she tried to take my teeth and when i didn't open my mouth she threw me into a nordic ruin where the walls were all shaking as if someone was banging against them
If i rememeber cprrectly Daedra aren't bound by mortal time, so Vaermina might show several different possible time frames to mortals for a desire outcomes.
the first nightmare i can remember was being in a sewer and discovering my parents being whisked away by a whirlpool while the yeti from rudolph stood over them

Right after they just brazenly crush the heads of babies?! *I sit down and slouch my shoulders* "It is truly difficult to explain to one so singular in existence and experience." *my massive hand reaches out to you offering an open palm, unknown sigils and runes all tangle together into a warping vortex of energies* "I can show you but a glimpse of the truth Altmer, just a glimpse to be safe" *my other hand waves over my colossal form to show horrendous yet reinforced scars from grevious wounds despite my earlier display showing mortal weaponry does nothing to my flesh* "There are things out there that put everything I've seen within besides the beings you naively worship, somethings even worse." *ebony enlaced animorphs bring a chair over for you and back away as you see ebony clad ballista take aim at us as ebony spiders bring over glowing potions of full recovery and take up defensive positions as massive ebony centurions weilding giant tower shields circle us and lock shields, you notice amongst all the red pulsing of the blood of lorkahn you see the glistening pure glow of aetherium laced in and out on them and on my own gear, I catch your wandering eyes and nod behind you* "Aetherium was a material that allowed us to weave stability over power into even that which tonal configuration could not alone withstand." *a shadow falls over us and as you finally look behind and up you see a titanic demi-numidie stand over us, two extending cannon shaped attachments glow with red and white energy as it's eyes gaze down at me and holds up it gigantic hands, a brighter glowing light returns your eyes back at me to see first hand tonal manipulation as the warping energy in my wraith guard gloved hand has grown three fold and you understand the dangers of just what I'm offering as my now blazing star like eyes turn to yours* "A few still even worse."
Vaermina or not, another Fudgemuppet podcast is a dream come true!
the only thing i look forward to all week
My worst nightmare was when I (in the dream) was investigating a haunted mine, I was trapped in a transitional mine-shaft between two ore-elevators, the one that took me down had already ascended back. Then I hear that the other one from the deep starts to ascend to my position, and somehow I knew that it was full of crazed cave-dwelling troglodytes that would rape and torture me, and there was nothing I could do. Luckily in my panic I willed myself to awake, which I did. Woke up with my heart pounding like crazy, scared as hell.
you just dreamt "the pitt"
I love how in dreams you just know things that you really shouldnt be able to know 😂
Funniest nightmare I've had was waiting in line all day to pick up Elder Scrolls 6 on release day only to get home and find out that the game is Skyrim 2
I'm just glad that these videos that you guys put so much work into barely get any dislikes
Scott’s piss dream story made me cackle! lmfao
"Basically when you run out of creativity you turn to political commentary..."
Oof, savage XD
'.... broke and ran, pell-mell, from the gate.'
New head canon: ESO is a pocket realm of Vaermina, where she toys with souls she's captured.
Another one of my favs Vaermina! You guys are the best
Love you guys! Azura and the box is to me one of the best stories, are there any others stories like it I should know about???
So she's basically the Prince if Self-Deception. That fits with everything you said. Fear. Escapism. All of it.
Laughed through this whole episode. Great job!
I’m not a ES super fan but I love listening to y’all’s podcast.
Vaermina quest in Oblivion: Great
Skull of Corruption in Oblivion: OP
Vaermina quest in Skyrim: Okay
Skull of Corruption in Skyrim: Terrible
But erandur is a bro tho.
Vaermina's quests should always be insane dreamscapes. I should be venturing the dreamland of unknown Kadath or why can't I be a dreamthief.
Vaermina is literally Daedric Freddy Kruger.
I love it and hope she gets more attention in TES: 6
that dub step HITTIN doh 🤣🤣
Although I do have plenty of dreams about situations that could be considered frightening, I rarely count them as nightmares because inside the dream I am calm. The hilarious thing is, if I do have a nightmare it's usually about a small creature/monster, usually about 6 inches (15 cm). In these nightmares I know this creature is dangerous in some way, but nobody believes me, either saying something so small must be harmless or sometimes finding it cute.
I'm excited for this one. I know so little about this prince.
Double fudge sunday? HELL YEAH
These podcasts are my bedtime stories
2 videos in one day you boys are aiming for 1 million by next month
Woah, FudgeMuppet back to back upload, sleep can wait
Do a video on where all the pheasant comes from in Skyrim
Ok a bad dream that stuck with me ' I was walking across a cricket pitch with my mates, when I heard a roaring coming from behind some house's on the boundary, then a plane appeared in view coming straight for the field. I was in the way and got crushed by the wheels. '
On a different note, has anyone ever had a dream within a dream? I actually did, several years before that movie ever came out. It really stuck in my head because it startled me so much. It wasn't scary or exciting, but it still kind of blew my mind. 🤯
yes. i have also had nightmares where i keep waking up, only to end up in a new nightmare. those things are the absolute worst
@@Lukkilikka Oh bummer!! I am glad mine were mundane
This morning’s nightmare was just vaermina fortelling the uploading of this episode. It all makes sense now.
Vaermina gives me the fear that people will feel the need to tell me about their dreams
Michael's new catch phrase: "Mate, are you being cheeky?"
Best series
If we are in the dream of the god-head. Vaermina is the god of dreams inside of a dream?
Still waiting for the "Ranking Elder Scrolls villains" podcast
I’m shocked they haven’t hit a million subs yet
My funniest nightmare had to do with an evil emu, that was out to get me. I hid under a bridge, in a ditch full of cold water. The emu slowly looked over the edge, evil intentions in its eyes. In that dream, as well as in real life, I made a scared sound, kinda like "huuuu". Because I physically actually made the sound, I woke up because of hearing my own voice. That was the funniest way to wake up from a nightmare I tell you.
(in real life, I'm not afraid of emu's, so I have no clue why I would have a nightmare about it)
Been waiting for this one
She is the force that calls the souls of mortals back to Mundus from the Dream Sleave when they wake. Such a force, tearing you from blissful perfection and thrusting you back into harsh Reality, would be seen as a nightmare to the mortal perception, and it is in these nightmares that she plays with their minds.
Maybe when people have dreams like Michael described where its more of a trippy dream but not quite a nightmare, Vaermina can sense that energy and come corrupt your dream, robbing it from the dreamsleeve
Vaermina is super cool
Peryite still #1
Paralyze + Fear + Frenzy = Sleep Paralysis Nightmare Poison.
I don't like the Skull of Corruption in Skyrim and I think Erandur redeemed himself so I've saved him in 99% of my playthroughs.
First time I’ve been to a video this early
Same 😅
I feel TES VI should have a Shivering Isles-esque DLC set in the Quagmire
Memories vs. Dreams:
The brain acts very similarly to things that happen during dreams as it does during everyday life, to the point where you are kind of paralyzed to protect yourself from acting out your dreams.
Vaermina's mental torture reminds me of the Good Place. Everyone watch that show!
my funniest nightmare i remember is that i went to our kitchen and there was a human sized lady liberty statue in there and i was TERRIFIED of it. it doesn't SOUND scary but in the dream it was the most terrifying thing i had ever seen. in the dream i left the kitchen to run away and got caught in a hurricane and somehow i knew the statue had turned into a hurricane
It's literally not even ten years old yet, how is it an eleven year old game?
I shall listen as I fall asleep and relish in the irony lol
I don't dream, or at least, I don't remember my dreams. The only ones I'm ever aware of are wet dreams
...So I guess, thanks Vaermina!
The only nightmares I've had are the ones where I'm being chased by animals
Vaermina is like the goddess of illusion magic if you ask me.
Not really since these Dreams can manifest into reality. Dreams are very real and can destroy you. If Bethesda had that old school creativity Dawnstar would have been a Silent Hill like warped reality dreamscape quest that you'd have to unravel and either banish or keep the Skull of Corruption.
Love you guys
I remember doing my first quest for her in resdayn I had nightmares as a kid.
so I'm getting the sense that she's the daedric prince of altered states of consciousness, but where the individual returns to reality unlike with sheorogath
Well all righty. The end of that was a little uhh yeah specific.
Yall should do a Tribunal podcast
ayyy only 3 minutes in and we’re talking about dagoth
I had a nightmare when I was like 7 that a giant tree grew out of my house and at the top was a dentist's office which was run by Keebler elves that I had to fight to avoid getting my cavities filled or whatever
Fudgemuppet with the checky double upload
1:48 What 'in Oblivion' was that? It sounded like the Hypnotoad (from Futurama) covering Headstrong by Trapped.
You for real or sarcastic ?!
I have a character that worships her, and is deluded that killing people in their sleep, or with illusions only send them to a lovely dreamworld where they'll always be happy.
Worst the nightmare I've ever had started off as a lucid dream doing whatever I feel like then blinking and ending up in my house with this thing out of the corner of my eye my best estimation is that it was a little girl dressed up in all white and had no face telling me that I had no power over her and to let her in she got progressively more angry every time I told her no every light in the house turned gray like an old movie as the house shook and as the windows rattled
i saw vaermina in a dream once actually after playing skyrim before bed. she was a big lady made of teeth and black sludge. she tried to take my teeth and when i didn't open my mouth she threw me into a nordic ruin where the walls were all shaking as if someone was banging against them
Yes more fudge Muppet.
Almost at one million subs!
If i rememeber cprrectly Daedra aren't bound by mortal time, so Vaermina might show several different possible time frames to mortals for a desire outcomes.
I just wanna see some more vanilla builds🙏🙏
