Brenspeed has the best canned tune I have used. When I put the Steeda under drive pulleys on my 3V Auto, the alternator would cut out at idle, when in gear. Raised my in gear idle speed to 700 and problem is solved.
Man I’m pretty proud of my old turd. 08 gt premium 5 speed car. Has a jlt cold air intake, gt500 twin 60mm tb, ford racing manifold, 1-3/4 longtubes, cat/muffler delete, under drive pulleys, Howard rattler cams, 4.10 gears and a 150 shot. It definitely hangs with the new car and beats a lot of them. My buddy’s fbo gen3 10 speed on e85 only beat me by half a car and I was out on him by a fender till I shifted after that I stuck to his door on a 50-130mph roll. Car runs 11.40’s but I just got a terminator shortblock we bout to put some boost to her now lol
@@ChrisMillerLite I’m spraying my 3v stock bottom end with a 150 shot. Long as you got a good tune should be fine. I’ve put countless bottles through mine on a 100 and 125 shot. I just went up to a 150 and have ran a few bottles through it. Car is full bolt on cams and gears. 140k miles on the clock now
Coyote? COYOTE? We don' need no steenking Coy-oh-tay! This was, hands down, the best quick and down-and-dirty on how to just-as-quickly turn the 300-hp 3V 'Stang engine -- which some people (mistakenly) thought was kind of a dog, let's be honest here, and I have just as much HP in my 2015 V6 3.7 AWD Taurus Police Interceptor sedan -- into a serious performer. Now I'm Jonesing for a 3V mid-aughts 'Stang because, for one, that'll certainly save some mean green in these here "uncertain economic times" and, Numero Due, it's not nearly as difficult as some people might think. Eh, I grew up watching my shade tree mechanic dad constantly tinker with the 289 small block in his '66 Mustang. This video brought back some great memories and almost (ALMOST) makes me somewhat regret divorcing my born-in-Spiceland/Newcastle-Indiana first wife. Good times for sure. Thanks for the great video! :-)
I have all the mods mentioned except the intake manifold. Just had 3.73 gears installed too. I enjoy all your 3 valve videos. They’re very informative 👍🏻👍🏻
@@brandonrickbornponyexpress6574 I am glad I went with the 3.73’s. Rpm’s at 70 mph is like 2300-2400 so gas mpg didn’t drop that much. My biggest enjoyment is how hard she pulls in 3rd gear. It’s great!
I'm so glad to hear you say you've never seen a power difference between Kooks, Pypes, or BBK. BBK is obviously the cheapest option by quite a bit and is also the set I ended up going with for that reason along with that they still come ceramic coated. I just wish BBK made a H mid pipe as well instead of X only. Wish you mentioned expected HP gains for the headers though like you did for the CAI+Tune & Camshafts! Thank you for the great advice and explanations of the parts for those who needed it!
Love to hear you talk , I am always learning about my 06 Gt , I'm 65 and still playing with my stang I have all the major bolt on's except for heads and torque converter , yes I have complete stock lower block and automatic trans , anyways love to hear you lecture never to old to learn more...👍
Much love for the 3 valve! Great information and I can certainly attest to everything you said! I have an '06 with the 5R55S Transmission. I have a Steeda 92mm cold air intake, Ford Racing Throttle Body, Steeda 62mm Throttle Body Spacer, Steeda Charge Motion Delete Plates, Accel Ignition Coils, Summit Racing Off Road H Pipe, MBRP Muffler Deletes and SCT4 custom tune along with Racing Synthetics and Racing Coolant for lubrication and lower engine temps. The car is making 372hp at the crank. I managed 12.9 seconds @ 110mph at the track, 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds and 0 to 100mph in 10.9 seconds. I do have Falken Azenis RT615K+ Tires, too.
This is one of the best videos i have ever watched. Its so good that I actually subscribed to the channel. Its only the 2nd channel i have every subscribed to. Very well done and very much appreciated. I will be throwing some money your way soon :)
Brenspeed did the Pypes long tubes, high-flow cats, X pipe, a cold air and the tune on my '06 GT two years ago now, and it was money well spent. Some relatively mild improvements that were immediately apparent performance-wise and probably the cheapest HP increase one can buy.
Always like to watch these types of videos before I even start shopping for these kinds of cars just cuase even If I don't buy 1 I'm more educated on the vehicle
I bought the Paxton Novi 2200 supercharger package off you for my 07 GT, installed pretty well the tune you provided is great runs like a beast! Upgraded to aT56 Magnum XL6 speed car is awesome!

Wow what a great informative video, really enjoyed it. It's a great step by step how to make power n.a. to the next steps to a supercharger. Your knowledge is amazing, thank you for your videos Brent.
I have never seen you tune a turbo 3v, And I’ve been watching you for years also ordering cold plugs for my turbo 3v and plug and play booster pump connector
Here is a link of one. Honestly not a big fan. Way, and I mean way back in the day I used to almost only do Hellion Turbo's on 3V's. So many down the road had issues (not just that brand) but all in general with turbo seals leaking I pretty much got away from them in general. Race cars yes, street cars.... big fan of TVS/Twin screw style or Centrifugal. So much more reliable for daily drivers which is 99% of the time what we build. Thanks! I wish this video existed about a month ago before I crashed my three valve. I had jlt series three cold air intake, Ford performance 62 mm throttlebody, 91 octane Bama tune, pypes catted h pipe and slp loudmouth muffler deletes. I loved my 3v😭
@@robertswift6101 rear ended someone and car was totaled. I upgraded to a 13 5.0, but I do miss my 3 valve. Nothing compares to the sound that 4.6 motor makes.
Great video! If I didn't know better, I'd say the guy at Crane and you are the same person for the info given. I'm kinda thinking he watched your video and is suggesting the exact things to people. I was going to purchase thumpr cams next but he talked me into Detroit rockers. I installed 4.10s last month. Now my car won't shift correctly and feels like it lost lower. FMS said the computer can't keep up with the info from the new gears. I am now looking at a programmer but don't want to spend a ton just to change the axle ratio, especially when other things will need tuned and I lose the tune when retuned. If that makes sense, lol. I bought forscan but have no references for what all the codes mean so haven't been able to change anything but turning the traction control light off which seems to be the most common thing people post for forscan. I'll be doing other mods in the next year and wanted to order a programmer to do them all. But after talking with Crane, it seems I may have to just take it to a dyno shop. It's just that I'm not doing everything at once and need to drive the car as a daily. 2007 GT/CS.
Sir, GREAT video. I've been licking my chops searching for my first Mustang. Never wanted to consider a 3 valve until this. STILL want a coyote but this is a great consideration considering 3 valves are selling for $10k less
@@BrenspeedEngineering always. Are those headers(shortys on the website) ok to put on my 07 Explorer Sport Trac V8. Been looking and tryna learn the difference between the Mustang & Explorer(Sport trac)4.6L 3V.
Only thing missing is dyno overlays showing what the parts do. Richard Holdener style! And what does this mean for 1/4 mile times? I know, many variables right...
Price would have been nice. Ball park. My 05, engine limit for power was 550hp. That was a safe limit I was told. What happened to Kenney Bell twin screw super charger . I had a german made twin screw blower . Back then it was about $6000 not including install and tune. In 05 total $10,000 thats everything. It was a monster.
Couple things. You are commenting on a 6 month old video. The price then, and the price now is different. The description has links to the parts for current today pricing that is why we do not say them in a video. Somebody watching at a later time gets false info as prices always changes just like when you go in the grocery and every single item is way more than 6 months ago. Good news is you can just open the description and see the links or go to www.brenspeed.com and see the current today pricing. Thanks for watchin and commenting!
Great video, one of your best! I have all the other n/a mods done to my car: TB & spacer, underdrive pulleys, CAI, shorties and 3 Brenspeed tunes. Would love to come do a dyno pull with a “before” and then switch from shorties to long tubes, add my racing intake and a set of your Detroit rockers for the “after” pull.
Pretend for a moment we DO know what "butterflies" are...now, do we gain anything by adding both the delete plates AND the manifold? Increasing runner length and doing the manifold should increase volume but also velocity aka ramchargers yes?
I understand what you are asking. There would be a lot of issues trying that. Im not sure what would happen to the injector spray pattern. Not to mention the manifold not having the provisions to mount delete plates to it. Then you would also have a huge hood clearance issue raising the manifold higher as it is already a tight fit. Then where the cold air attaches the throttle body would be really high and hit the front of the hood also. Really never thought about it to be honest but those issues are off the top of my head.
@@BrenspeedEngineering your channel is awesome! Hopefully I can find a 3 valve sooner than later! We drive from Omaha, NE to Detroit, MI several times a year. We’ll have to make a detour and stop the shop this next year.
Loved the video. I’ve done all of these minus the pulleys(Roush CAI, ford intake and TB, kooks, and the rockers). Made 353 on the dyno. Can’t wait to buy a blower within the next week or two.
I just got a reference to check out your channel by a race car driver who you you probably don't know. He spoke highly about you and Mustangs. I am in Michigan I have a 2016 Mustang GT premium. I would love to have it up to close to 600 horsepower.
I will get a tune from you.. I already got the cams from you the detroits nsp. The bama tunes they very weak. What kind of power I should spect on my 08 after a tune from you? I have on my car jlt 3 series cai, long tubes, no cats with electric cut outs and flow master mufflers, 3:55 gears, manual transmission. 24540zr19 tires on the back. I want the most power out of my car. Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful 🙂
Youve inspired me, brother! I've already bought the Ford Racing manifold and I bought the BBK throttle body. Ive got a SCT X4 and Roush CAI. You have sold me on getting the pipes headers and your custom grind cams. I would like to know about getting a tune from you guys as well. Thanks for this video!
I'm really looking forward being up there in a week and half for my install. I gotta tell ya, this video is what really convinced me to get all of those parts!
Love your videos and appreciate your sharing your experience. I’m currently building a 3V that is going in my Ford Fusion. It’ll be NA, so I’m using a bunch of stuff you don’t mention (pistons and rods, highpo oil pump, etc.). Oh, and I’m throwing out the camshafts and using pneumatic valve actuation (that’s actually why i went 3 valve).
@@BrenspeedEngineering Thank you. The scanning dots come in today, and I have an appointment to use a 3D scanner on the heads Sunday. From there it’s into CAD to figure out exactly how much of the top of the head it’s safe to shave off to make room for the pneumatic actuators. I’ll probably spend a few weeks on that (measure 800 times, cut once).
Thank you for making this video. Love this channel. The S197 is my fav style. That’s my V6 in my profile pic. Someday I want to do a v8 swap. The all black premium package cars are hard to find where I am so I’m hanging on to mine. I added an intake, shorty headers, dual exhaust with x pipe. Thanks
Good video for getting started on a 3V but for newbies would have been good to do a dyno run with these installed and show what kind of power increase they get you
You might like this link. Now keep in mind this video link is about 10 years old but it does some of these mods over a 3 part build. If you watch to the end it gives a link to the next video. I think there are 3 in the series. ua-cam.com/video/8UXrqs8drkc/v-deo.html
I have an 05 GT really don't know what or if anything had been done to it, other than it has a complete Flow Master exhaust with cats X pipe. So I did not want to alter the X pipe as it bolted to the stock Man. and was all flow master I saw the stamps so I went with shorty headers so they would bolt right into place. I'm happy with my set up I may look into the intake and pullys I won't be doing a blower was never a fan and I'm 62..
Great video ! . Now if you can do one with the same list if parts for the 3v 4.6 in the f150 . 8ve looked high and low and can't get a straight answer on the difference between the mustang and f150 application. So will this whole package work on the 4.6 3v 300 hp in the f 150 ??
So for the F150 4.6L 3V your intake and throttle body set up is different. Best bet is yes you can use the cams, tuner and tune, I believe you could do the underdrive pulleys, and then get a cold air specific to your F150 so it fits perfect. The mustang cold air would not work with your current throttle body.
Scroll through this play list I bet you will find something close to what you are looking for thanks! ua-cam.com/play/PLyyePPaOSI81BtzSrQjoJ_rJzqp6xzk1t.html
Did I miss info on the rear end gearing? If by chance you mentioned changing rear end ratio and I missed it I’m sorry but going to a 3:55 or 3:73 offers a push back into the seat as much as any aftermarket add on.
@@BrenspeedEngineering I agree completely on the 3:73 or 4:10 or as we had available to us many years ago the 4:11. I was trying to put forth a balance for people who drive to and from work city to city at 70-75-80 mph. The 3:55 worked much better than 2:75 factory gearing in all around performance.
Great video. I live just up the road in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (CANADA), but may venture down to the shop next summer to get some work done on my 08 GT/CS or 07 Roush 427. TWO QUESTIONS: 1) Our fuel is a bit pricier here so I'm wondering if the larger cold air intake and a tune would give more HP, torque, throttle response and still lead to better fuel economy (assuming I don't mash the throttle more to hear the improved sound) or should I stick with a smaller Roush or K&N if I need to consider fuel economy? 2) I currently have a flowmaster cat-back exhaust on it. If I got a cold air and tune a) could the tune factor in both the intake and exhaust, and b) if I were to add high flow cats, long tubes, intake manifold, cams, etc later on do I pay for each incremental tune I get from you or are tunes provided free once the tuner is purchased from you?
Several things. No tunes are free in the future but we do not charge full price. We charge a fraction of the price for new mods then email the tune. We have a link in our tuner section that will show you revision pricing. We do tune for CA 91 we are familiar with that. Yes a better CAI and tune adds power but we can tune for your octane so that is a good thing. Also we do not advertise or claim MPG up or down. Clients do report often an increase in MPG as well as decrease if they drive the car hard. Typically it is not a huge difference either way but everybody drives different......
@@BrenspeedEngineering Thank you for the reply and additional information. Sounds like I'd be best off determining how far I want to go with mods, doing them all at once and getting the tune at that time rather than incrementally. Also good (for others) to know you tune for 91 octane as well, but I buy my fuel in the USA since I live on a border town and my gf is American. I'm gathering most of your clientele are running 92 and oriented for pure performance, rather than running 87 and orineted for best bang for buck performance. Will the larger diameter CAI NEED a tune or will there be benefits leaving it untuned like with a smaller diameter K&N, ROush, etc?
Saw another video where the Dyno numbers were better with stock manifold throught the entire curve. They had at least 3 different sets of Dyno numbers. Reason is the butterflies cause air turbulence causing a better air fuel mix. He had the new FR intake, but put oem back on because of it. Just what I saw recently.
We have done that same testing on full bolt on cars and not seen that. Here is one stock vs all mods but if you search around our videos there are one or two doing just the intake on full bolt on cars. ua-cam.com/video/Aem7owz4V2E/v-deo.html
I did learn something about imrc delete. i guess undrive pulleys are new lol. i do realize some engines respond differently to this but are usually engineered into this
Thank you! This is some great information!! I am buying everything you mentioned in this video less the pulleys.. But I am getting the blue valve covers in addition to the rest. I already have the sfx tuner with a CAI and 93 tune on it. If I buy all these mods from you would you update the tune video a email or is there an option xtra cost? Thanks again your videos are great. Bill H
If you mean SCT tuner that is what we support. We can make the tunes for all the parts we sell and via mail order so you can just load it on. The mail order tunes are pretty dead on we have done them so many times with all the different mods. Check out www.brenspeed.com if you already have an SCT tuner you can just get the email tune.

Thanks Bobby your car is awesome.
I just installed Detroit rocker cams jlt3 cai bbk headers and 93 tune and holly shit what a difference 400 crank 340 rwhp. Ty brenspeed wasn’t for watching this I’d never of known
AWESOME! Thanks for the comment!
How much did that run you total? Labour included if you got some installed?
Brenspeed has the best canned tune I have used.
When I put the Steeda under drive pulleys on my 3V Auto, the alternator would cut out at idle, when in gear. Raised my in gear idle speed to 700 and problem is solved.
Thanks for watching!
Another great informational video from Brenspeed!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sounds great thanks for watching!
What's a 150 shot?

Thanks for the comment and watching!
I have all the mods mentioned except the intake manifold. Just had 3.73 gears installed too. I enjoy all your 3 valve videos. They’re very informative 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the comment!
How are you liking the 3.73 gears? You think big difference from 3.55's or would you go with 4.10 ?
@@brandonrickbornponyexpress6574 I am glad I went with the 3.73’s. Rpm’s at 70 mph is like 2300-2400 so gas mpg didn’t drop that much. My biggest enjoyment is how hard she pulls in 3rd gear. It’s great!
@evhfanatic awesome man! I appreciate the response! Big difference from the 3.55's stock ?

Love the s197 3v.
Thanks for commenting! We do also!
Yah BBK just makes an X. Pypes makes an H pipe though and the price is pretty good.
Thanks again. All the info that we had to watch 10 different content providers .

Welcome aboard!
Brenspeed did the Pypes long tubes, high-flow cats, X pipe, a cold air and the tune on my '06 GT two years ago now, and it was money well spent.
Some relatively mild improvements that were immediately apparent performance-wise and probably the cheapest HP increase one can buy.

Thanks! THAT IS AWESOME!
I love your step by step details. Hat's off two you Buddy. Where can I get prices? For everything you have talked about?
Open the description in the video. It has links to the parts.
STILL want a coyote but this is a great consideration considering 3 valves are selling for $10k less

still going back and forth on rockers vs hot rod or voodoo
Only thing missing is dyno overlays showing what the parts do. Richard Holdener style! And what does this mean for 1/4 mile times? I know, many variables right...
Thanks for watching Jim!

What is the cost of the parts vs HP/ Torque gain? I am thinking about a Ls
I have a 07 4.6 Mustang can I do any mods to make it go faster my self at home 🏡 🏡 🏡 ???
Easiest starter mods are the cold air and tune. The cold air comes with instructions and takes basic hand tools.

Thanks for watching!
Y’all doing the good work! I’m shopping for mustang and once I get one I’ll be getting these pars.

Good luck!
Thanks

@@BrenspeedEngineering You're in Indiana, so am I, where?
Coming to get the paxton intercooler upgrade for my car soon !! , also considering ford throttle body upgrade too
Awesome!

Did I miss info on the rear end gearing? If by chance you mentioned changing rear end ratio and I missed it I’m sorry but going to a 3:55 or 3:73 offers a push back into the seat as much as any aftermarket add on.
3.73 or 4.10 are best. I like either and both way better than 3.55.
I love my 3v 08 s197. Need a engine. Blew head gasket

Great video wish u would talk about install a little bit though 👍🏼
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN That video was like 27 minutes lol. Maybe next time!!!!!! Thanks for watching.
