Hey! Check out my REACTION PLAYLIST...

You should do a reaction of Thomas Lang
So I was re watching some of you're reaction videos, I watched this one....cus Gavin Harrison is an absolute monster!....then thought just at the end, "I wonder if he's actually listened to the FULL version".
His video here you watched is 6ish mins long, the full Porcupine Tree album version is actually 17MINS long!
Loved this. If you haven't heard it the Sound of Muzak is shorter but incredible. Gavin once told the story about having a private breakfast with Neil Peart and he said he would use the Sound of Muzak studio recording to choose stereo speakers... Enjoy my friend 🍻
ua-cam.com/video/HHoHT3UEJyE/v-deo.htmlsi=v8fLBc_n_TsuN4mk
Gavin Harrison has that impossible combination of dexterity, fluidity, pocket, chops, musicality, intuition and mature musicianship and understanding that puts him in the uppermost echelon of players.
You got that right Kren!
perfectly said!
Spot on
Perfectly said, Kren!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
☺️💚💚💚✨yesssssss
For me, Gavin is the most COMPLETE drummer I've ever seen. Talent, musical sensitivity, technique, skill, on-pocketness (😆), taste, finesse, sense of composition, drumset tuning, just... EVERYTHING to the highest degree possible! By far my favorite drummer.
Couldn't agree more!
The ultimate player
The older I get, the more I think this. There’s a few drummers that are absolutely other worldly, but the accuracy of Gavin is absolutely unmatched.
@@MPrint67 Yes. YES!! 🙂👍🏻
The technique is impressive but the musicality, how to simplify things under the singer, and such things are what impressed me. This was not just a technical performance but a musical one as well. A total masterclass in one song.
💯
That's why Lee and Lifeson should give him a call if they ever play live together again.
Yes, he always serves the song.
Well said
He never overplays his role within the song.
Porcupine Tree. The best prog metal band nobody knows about. Gavin is a God.
@Bob Bater
Erm pretty much EVERY serious Prog Rock Fan knows Porcupine Tree. Everyone that also knows Spocks Beard and Enchant and Dream Theater also knows Steven Wilson
i have seen Porcupine Tree here in Switzerland in front of 8000 people. if someone gets 8000 people in Switzerland you certainly know about them.
Love Porcupine tree and Signify is out of this world. Also been listening to Blackfield IV and V another Steven Wilson project. He also worked on Anathema album Were here because we are here plus his solo career. What a guy, does he get any rest as he's also been doing Ultravox Vienna mixes and Tears for fears.
I meant it generally I guess. A good of mate of mine moved from England to Canada in 97. He brought with him a bootleg of them. A mate of his was there road manager at the time. He said “ listen to this “. That music has been in my blood ever since. Gotten me out of some very dark places in the past.
Would had Spastic Inc in dat list.
That has to be one of the best live drum tones I have ever heard
Yup totally agree
His drum sound on the live Porcupine Tree DVD's is phenomenal.
@@pcs56you’ve got SW mastering the sound of them as well, he knows Gavins sound probably better than anyone so mixes it well, he’s done some tasty mixes on older prog albums especially some of the Jethro Tull albums.
Just saw PT in Toronto on Sept 10th for the Closure/Continuation tour, their first show in 12 years and they played Anesthetize and Gavin played it just as well as he does here. 59 years old. He is something else.
AMAZING
Saw him in Dallas and 1000% agree. man is a monster and the heir of The Professor.
Agree as well. Saw them in SF and it was a great show.
Agreed, absolute monster musician.
59?!? WHAT!?!
Gavin is fantastic. Oh, and Steven Wilson is a genius.
Thanks for watching Mark!!!
I saw Steven Wilson live. Wow.
Amen on both counts 🙏
A shame SWs stuff is so boring lately.
Gavin completes Steven and vice versa
I'm not a drummer but a guitar player. And my jaw is on the floor. Friggin amazing.
I recommend watching the whole song live from Tilburg. You dont see so much to him but you see how well he blends in with the bands and ties it all together. 17 mins of pure bliss!
Well your comment took the words right out of my mouth. Almost verbatim.
I concur, incredible take on an incredible song!
Amazing concert.
Thanks Andreas. Definitely more Gavin on the way as soon as I can!
I watch it daily!!!
I saw Porcupine Tree in Greece ages ago. An average lets say fan of the band. I remember very vividly that the whole concert I was turning to my friend in awe after every god damn unbelievable fill he did. He totally destroyed my mind and melted my face. By the end of the show I had that feeling of desperation that this is cannot be real, cannot be happening... So many concerts all these years pre-covid. Enjoyed immensly Billy Cobham, loved Danny Carey, adored my childhood hero Ian Pace, had huge respect for Mike Portnoy, Mike Bordin is a beast, traveled many miles just to see Dave Lombardo... Harrison is by far the best drummer I have seen live. Hands down.
Yup he’s just in a different level
Totally agree. Mind destroying and face melting indeed. 🙂
The one who'll make you believe the 4/4 you're listening to is an odd time signature and not a 4/4. Such an amazing drummer!
Yup!
And vice versa.
Nullll1111 Exactly 😉
And go 17/19 effortlessly
@@consentofthegoverned5145wtf is 17/19 time? You’re scaring me..😂
He is incredible. He may be the best living drummer in the world. I've seen him with Porcupine Tree and King Crimson, and he never fails to blow my mind. I've grown up playing the drums and listening to superhuman drummers, from Carl Palmer to Bill Bruford to Phil Collins to Neil Peart, John Bonham and Buddy Rich, but there is something about GH's effortless precision and complexity and intelligent approach to making music, that makes me think he could be the absolute best of that bunch, even if the bands he's played in are not among my favourites (apart from KC) there's no doubting this mans genius.
He is utterly fantastic!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums If you haven't already check out his playing on The Sound of Muzak. It's a masterful groove! :-)
Definatly among the elite of the elite if not the best. Should check out Morgan Agren though if you don't know him already, might be my #1 pick for greatest living drummer
I think you hit the nail exactly on the head and it’s why he isn’t a household name. He’s a beast, but he’s not in the front, he blends, he finds his spaces, he’s seamless, effortless. Easy to miss. Because he’s so essential and part of the groove. He’s definitely one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen in my life, and I saw Buddy Rich, John Blackwell. . . Gavin’s quiet mastery is astonishing.
I think the only modern guy that comes to the same level for me is Antonio Sanchez who’s in a different musical world, but like Rooney said in the video, you see the commitment in the playing. Both of these guys come up to the Tony Williams of the world. Amazing.
My absolute favourite drummer of all time (I am a guitarist). There are a lot who are DAMN close, but I find Gavin Harrison to just be a paragon of TASTEFUL drumming. Precision, nuance, groove, musicality - this is as good as it gets for me. It's overwhelmingly beautiful to listen to.
What sets Gavin apart from all other chop masters is his deep and ceaseless groove. Even at his most tech-ish the listener feels a James Brown level funk and feel. He's in a class all his own on that account!
This
Yes. He's got great pocket!
I agree.
That's my favorite part about Gavin's playing is he never loses site of his pocket even if he chops he still makes sure the pocket presence is there as a solid foundation. When you can do that in everything you play that adds a lot of musicality to anything you play! That's really in my opinion what makes a great musician✌
Gavin Harrison is so underrated. Truly incredible...one of my favorite drummers for sure
AMAZING!
Underrated? LMAO! By who?!
@@pcs56 I know plenty of people who have never heard of him
@@wild6child6that's not what underrated means. Most people are not very interested in music anyway, let alone the music Kevin's involved in.
He's very appreciated and praised within the music community
I’m proud to say I was at this performance, Gavin is one of my top 5 drummers of all time. Was quite a thrill to be there!!
I bet. Absolute legend
This dudes my favourite drummer. I didn't discover him till this year, and he plays *exactly* how I've always tried to play. Like, the parts he writes, his feel, his ear for grooves, everything
Great play to strive to be like
He was absolutely in top form last night with Porcupine Tree in London where they played this phenomenal track.
Gavin is just an overwhelmingly skilled player. He makes even the 'simple' stuff sound so goddamned clean and precise and fluid that it's hard to comprehend at first glance.
Agree Adam :)
One of the finest drum players of all time
I agree Bruce
With the passing on Neil Peart (RIP), Gavin is my favorite living drummer.
Yes, he's Neil mixed with Bruford
@@johnnorman7180 Gavin has Neil and Bill in his pocket. They were nowhere near Gavin´s league. I´m a big Bruford fan, though. I don´t get the Neil Peart hype, though.
Let’s check Pineapple thief - White mist or Threatening war. That’s absolutely awesome! Gavin is genius!
Yeah gonna be a lot to check out from Gavin!
Threatening war for sure.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums i'd really love to see your take upon Threatening War! It's amazing!
Your face with that reverse fill was priceless... I love Gavin. God bless you man. Thanks for the reaction. I dig Gavin Harrison.
Glad you enjoyed! Gavin is incredible
Every great musician has invested incredible hours to achieve what most believe is just talent. We become what we think about and do with most of our time!
Thank you! That's was awesome! One of my all time favs next to Danny Carey.
BOOM! Just for you Nathan!!!
The overall sound of his kit is really contributing to his playing. As a drummer myself i drool hearing his kit. Its insanely expensive and insanely eargasm ish. Hes got it all figured out and knows how he wants to make his kit sound. And such a Beast, period.
Nice! And great UA-cam name BTW!
Soundgarden FTW!
His face and posture are so calm, but he is most definitely a beast. Killing those cymbals. Everything is so tight and musical.
Gavin also records and mixes his own parts.
I'm not a drummer and even I drool hearing his kit. It's so crisp and powerful
I saw an interesting interview with him where he talked about getting the sound he wanted from the kit. He said he recognizes that people are basically always going to hear his playing through microphones, whether it's on an album or in a concert setting, and so he basically doesn't pay much attention to the acoustic sound of the kit -- his focus is on what it sounds like through the microphones. So, he wears his in-ears, spends a lot of time on mic selection and placement, EQ and so on, to get the sound that he wants people to hear.
Gavin is so good! Another interesting drummer connected with Steven Wilson is Miarco Minneman. Check out Steven Wilson's live performance of the Luminol!
Thank you! Yup Gavin is insane
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Spelling mistake I made, it's Marco Minnemann!
Up
Lets do it
Saw Minneman in DT's audition, and damn he's becoming one of my faves.
I have seen him play this song 4 times live with Porcupine Tree. Staggeringly good drummer.
Yup. Top tier stuff
Gavin Harrison, one of the greatest drummers of all time, I've never heard anyone play harder and fit in better - he's like Neil Peart.
At his very best Neal Peart never ever played anywhere near the level of Gavin Harrison. You “Neal Peart” fan boys need to “wake up” and learn how to read drum notation. Peart never ever had the chops, creativity, groove and musicality of Harrison.
@@magiscichoam *Neil Peart...if you're going to insult us "fan boys" at least do it right
@@unidentified_flying_obscen3217 I am. If the majority of the die hard “Neal Peart” fan boys could read and understand drum notation they would know that Peart primarily played single stroke rolls in odd sticking patterns. He borrowed heavily from Bill Bruford (Yes/King Crimson) Michael Giles (King Crimson), Phil Collins (Genesis) and Carl Palmer (ELP/Asia). His drum solos were poor imitations of aspects of drum solos by Jon Bonham, Ginger Baker and Max Roach. As the great jazz fusion drummer Dave Weckl commented on Neal Peart’s playing style on February 4, 2016. “Dave said, "Well Neil has a very different approach to the drum kit. His style of drumming is very systematic where in the world of Jazz you need to develop more of a fluid style of play." Which is Weckl’s polite way of stating that Peart’s drumming is stiff and mechanical.
@@magiscichoam Guitarist here. I promise no disrespect. Chops and groove, I'll give you. Anyone can practice and have great chops. Groove, that's relative. Creativity, relative too. But Rush's tune, Scars, showcases some of the most creative drumming I've ever heard. Curious if you've listened to that one. It's incredible. Again, no bad vibes. Take care.
@@johnnylawrence733 I appreciate your courteous and measured reply. I’m just not a big “Rush” fan. I’ve been playing drums for nearly 45 years. I read drum notation and music. My favorite albums by Rush include “Presto” (Scars), “Moving Pictures”, “Grace Under Pressure” and “Vapor Trails”. For me Neal Peart’s drumming is, for the most part, stiff and robotic with very few exceptions. Those exceptions include “Scars”, “Red Barchetta” and “Earthshine”.
Gavin is the only drummer in the world that brings tears to my eyes when I hear him.
Man oh man, Anesthetize always been my favorite of his. Such an incredible display of musicianship! Sound of Muzak rendition from this clinic is also absolutely mental, lots of tasty fills that aren't on the studio version.
I'll have to check out more!
The fact he's filling nearly every possible iota of time without it sounding like too much is what's astonishing. Amazing dynamics, in my non-drummer opinion.
He's so clean and musical, every hit has a purpose. One of my all time fav.
Sound of Muzak by Gavin Harrison!
Thanks for the recommendation!
This.
There is a lesser known Porcupine Tree song called What Happens Now where Gavin plays in 7/4 with overriding triplets on the cymbal in the later part of the song. Because of the weirdness of it, it takes three measures before it resolves and the cymbal is back on the beat. I've played some polyrhythms on piano before (not easy as you almost need to think of the parts independently with your brain). But doing it on an odd time signature is next level stuff and pretty mind blowing. Rhythmic Illusions is a DVD that Gavin put out that explains all of this stuff.
The original beat was designed by Steven and developed by Gavin. Great song, great drummer, great band - great!
PHENOMENAL collection of musicians
Best Drummer in the world. His feel, his prowess, control, chops. All of these things create the perfect dynamic for any song that this guy is put into. I have seen many drummers on youtube, reddit, IRL and this man right there has an AI living inside him that blows the proportions of perfecting to a different perspective.
He's up there for me too Alex!
Freak
Love your expressions as soon as he starts. That’s exactly what you should be feeling when you listen to Gavin ❤️
This is my favourite drum video of all time! what a drummer and good reaction Andrew :D
Little fun fact,... the guitar solo at the 4 minute mark of the song (on the studio version) was written and performed by Alex Lifeson of RUSH. 😉
🤯
Andrew your mention of Gavin brought me back here for another listen. Guy is so overwhelming it literally brings tears to my eyes
This song and the whole Anesthetize live album have become favorites of mine, but I keep coming back to watch your reaction because I just love watching the reaction of someone who can really appreciate what Gavin is doing.
Thanks for watching Mike!
I need to get back to Sir Gavin
Love to see him do something with Geddy and Alex
YES!!!
Agreed. His playing has always reminded me of Neil's.
Heck Yes to Gavin. Heck No to Portnoy. RIP Neil.
Alex plays on the studio recording of Anesthetise...
If you want an inspiration, then you listen to Gavin Harrison.
Such a creative drummer.
Yeah he is out of this world
The amount of applause doesn't do any of it justice. How are these people not on their feet, throwing underpants and money onto the stage?
Right!?
This awesome thing about this clinic video segment is that it has an insane amount of variation over the original studio recording. Gavin always plays around with different fills, and this is just so delicious. He's a beast absolutely. The fact that this drumming goes on in a 17-minute long song. This was just a short bit from the full song.
If you haven't already discovered the drum duet between Gavin and Simon Phillips, you absolutely must. Part 4 especially blows my mind. They are awesome together. So creative.
Just saw Porcupine Tree live ... seeing Gavin up close was like a dream came through... such a joy to watch his calmness while destroying everything.
Where did you see them Marcio?
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I saw them in DC. It was absolutely perfect. :)
@@marcio1745 AWESOME!!
What a hoot! I just got finished watching Gavin's full performance and then I trip right on into this. As one who knows what it takes to reach this level, Your reaction is pure gold! Loved it.
The thing I love about Gavin's drumming is knowing how to play the right thing at the right time. And of course the tuning and overall sound of his kit.
Its like jump on a train and watching out of the window, adoring all those different landscapes passing by!
You said it! A machine! First time I ever saw this absolute weapon was in these modern drummer videos and ever since seeing them in 2010 I am hooked on everything he's played on. I went to see him at a clinic and actually got to meet him afterwards. Best 12 quid ever spent and I was lucky to win an A Custom off the raffle and he signed it underneath. It's still there to this day. The man is just on another level. Whilst there's no comparison to my playing ability and his, I think every drummer can take something away from his playing. The smallest nuances are really clever and detailed. He never loses sight of the groove either. You can pretty much bop your head to every single fill or odd time groove he thinks up. He will be, for me, forever the greatest to command a drum kit! 🥁
Andrew, I think I've watched this video at least four times, and each time, despite knowing what is coming, my facial expressions and exclamations are exactly like yours while listening to it! What can you say, watching Gavin is just a special thing. I saw PT in Boston last year, and the memory is burned into my brain - Gavin can go from quiet, sparse, haunting rhythms to thunderous, polyrhythmic drums on the edge of total chaos, all with perfect eloquence and control. A special player, and an inspiration for all musicians. Fantastic!
Your expression at 2:32 is perfect. Only a handful of measures in, and we all already know it's totally insane.
He seems to play internally, rarely looks stressed or reaching for it! Truly talented
Yes Ciara :)
Really enjoyed this one! Loving this channel as an ‘in’ to discover new music (... always been a Tool fan tho, just sayin). Thank-you Mr Rooney and Patreon for bringing this one 🤙🏼
Saw this live performance at the modern drummer festival 2020 the first time, since that time he is one of my favorite drummers.
His drumming is so inspiring ... i love it 👍
I've seen Crimson about four times recently and what strikes me as a non drummer is how easy Harrison makes it look. He hardly broke a sweat while all the drummers in the audience were staring in disbelief. The Albert Hall gig started with the drum trio and ended with a mammoth drum battle in Schizoid Man.
He's very controlled and has so much headroom!
It's great to see how you respond. It is really unbelievable what this man can do on drums.
Nice to follow you. And i hope, dat you can cope with it! Hahahaha!
The ascending Tom fill at 9:10 is my favorite drum fill of all time (one of them at least). It perfectly fits the song and it’s super creative
Bumping because one of my fav’s 🔥🔥
Andy, love your reaction videos. You dont give yourself alot of props for your talent and skill(which is immense), which only shows your humility and to me that equals=" Musical Maturity"! And yes Gavin is on another level. He gives us a high bar to shoot for if we drummers feel so inclined. Keep em coming brother! Coffee and drums!
His drums, cymbal sizes and configuration is out standing! you can actualy hear the tonality shift in every hit, like the way you can tell the note shift on a guitar or keys.
Definitely my favourite drummer. Such a perfection here with Gavin Harrison! 😌
You should hear the two different time signatures simultaneously on What Happens Now
It's rare to have such clarity and precision that despite the constant flurry of fills, the drums don't dominate the sound. Loved it.
Yuptotally right. Complexity but with perfect clarity!
The kit sounds awesome!
"What Happens Now" is drumwise a pretty impressive track by Porcupine Tree.
Gavin also plays drums on the song "Flame" by Tim Bowness and Richard Barbieri (the keyboardist of Porcupine Tree).
I just really love that song and the drumming and bassline is extremely tasteful.
Its a bit off the beaten track but it might be worth checking out.
Thanks Adrian!
It's insane how much groove he has in his playing even when he's playing absolutely perfectly in time
Very tough to not sound mechanical when you are this precise
As an amateur body language analyst, I know Andrew is REALLY impressed when he gives us the old stink face. Love your videos mate.
As for Gavin, when someone designs and builds a drumming robot he is the guy they are going to model it on. Such amazing precision and fluidity in his style.
Thanks for watching!
You should see this whole track by Porpucine Tree Live. There's more great playing on that track and lots of space for Gavin to shine.
Your reaction is freakin on point! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed!
I can remember hearing an interview with Bill Bruford where he was citing Gavin as a metre theory influence on King Crimson (whom of course he now plays drums with) ... just amazing that a legend like Bruford would be sharing credit with so much younger a peer.
I had many years ago a group lesson with Gavin here in Italy. I've seen him warming up with a two hand simultaneous warm-up. Simply the skill level of his warm up exsercises are far beyond my top level of playing in ALL means, precision, timing, sound definition, control and also indipendence (the warm-up was coupled with a rotating pattern of accents with the feet that was down beat, up beat and three over four polyrithm)
was just about to send it to you...
can't wait to see your reaction!
:-)
Thanks Lars!
I like how he goes across the bar with the fills, you're right, Gavin is a total machine.
Unbelievable Mike
Neil Peart wrote the introduction to Gavin Harrison's book "Rhythmic Composition: Featuring the Music of Porcupine Tree" from 2014. In the intro he is talking about listening to Gavin's music and says "Yes - if I could play like that, that is how I would play." Pretty high praise from The Professor.
Only person that I would ever say yes to in being in a reformed RUSH! He’s that GOOD!
Saw them in Stuttgart last week as well as the previous 2 occasions they played. From a tiny venue with maybe 80 people to a 5000 capacity venue. He really is a joy to watch and PT bring the best out in him. i hope it's not another 12 years.
Not being a drummer myself, it's refreshing to see your reaction and more confirmation that we are witnessing a rare talent.
"What a machine", definitely, in a positive sense!
Yes Jake!
Really nice reaction video. This is the way these should be done. Substantive, concise comments, taking the music seriously. There are a lot of video people out there that could learn a thing or two from you on how to do a reaction video...oh yeah and Gavin is an absolutely epic monster on the drums. He has a number of videos from this same clinic I think and there's not a bad on in the bunch.
Very Kind words Robert!
Thanks a lot brother :)
Mind blowing!
Smooth, Flowing, Solid and deep in the pocket!
He really is fun to watch. His internal timing seems impossible to throw off.
Like you said, his precision and attack is so precise. He hits all bells, drums, rims etc in the exact same place once in a song. Almost like it was played 1 time and studio comped that one in each time it comes around.
Gavin is in his own level...he is....absolutly no words drummer
Gavin is my favourite drummer - his precision and control is absolutely amazing - it's interesting that he says in his Book "Rhythmic Illusions" that the simple act of displacing a simple rock beat by one eight note and really getting that into your system makes you a much better at playing ordinary beats and you really hear it in his playing, everything he plays is so precise but still not mechanical, cause his sound and musicality is brilliant too.
Is there another drummer that wraps fills around the one like Harrison?! What a monster talent.
He's insane Jared!
Ringo starr?
Hello, Andrew.
Greetings from Florida. I am a late subscriber to your channel (so my apologies if this suggestion has already been shown).
I have been catching up (or at least trying) with many of your awesome contributions. My list of fav (and not in order, as that is so hard on its own… so no ‘top ten’… ) consist of: Carter Beaufort, Gavin Harrison, Thomas Lang (who actually makes a soundcheck on his kit sound better than most drummers’ solo), Mike Portnoi, Bonzo, Copeland, Neil, Simon Phillips, Dave Abruzzesse, Danny Carey, and…. this one in particular whom I ‘discovered’ late… Tod Sucherman. Not only is he such an incredible rock drummer, but his kit sounds absolutely amazeballs… his phat snare and toms simply sing…. He truly plays in such harmonic way that fills up each song in every sense. Here’s a clip of many that captures his very versatile, but very artistic /complex technique… Keep up the awesome work, Andrew… I haven’t played drums since I moved to the US in the 90’s but I watch all the best vids on YouBoob! :) Cheers! Vladi P.
He has almost an overhead video of each of his live performances of each song:

Gavin is currently playing with two different bands, King Crimson and Pineapple Thief. The original Porcupine Tree drummer, Chris maitland, is also an extremely good and versatile drummer. He left Porcupine Tree to work for Cirque du Soleil. He has since come back out as the drummer for Guilt Machine and several other smaller projects in Europe.
Actually Chris was rather unfairly sacked from PT, but the rest of it is as you have outlined.
That makes sense - this guy is SLAYING the kit. King Crimson is a top-shelf band - PROG heaven. First time seeing this drummer - I am stoked.
Thanks Bill!
Chris wasn’t unfairly fired. It was primarily his own fault. All are on good terms now.
@@andrewkarp5067 He was tipped out of the band by SW because he disagreed with him.
Gavin's performances are astonishing. I have been so lucky to meet him once in Italy. I have a signed DVD and a picture. He's also very nice to all fans!
Yes he seems like a great guy
The part from 4:09 onward ("The Pills In Me") may be one of my favorite recorded passages ever. Gavin really propels that section!
Andrew, just loved your reactions and comments. I wish I could go back and see this for the first time too. I remember seeing them live and Gavin smashing this same song in Manchester (UK) while I was stood not too far from him. Just mind blowing.
The accuracy Toni! WOW
Gavin Harrison's runs up the toms are some of my favorite fucking fills in the world. So goddamn cool.
Totally agree that Gavin shares a lot of what I enjoy about Weckl too. The sheer control and musicality is insane, he's my favorite drummer to listen to, just so much fun.
Heya.. you're channel is a great find.. I have to say, the full 3 movement of Anesthetize has always been my favorite Porcupine Tree song.. Seen them perform 3 times.. P.T. is one of the best out there..
I'd love to see them live!
Thanks for watching :)
What a tone 🥰
Have to admit never heard of him or the band. I love how the really good guys just have an effortless way of playing. The precision and the snap on those cymbal hits.
Gavin is just amazing, a machine. Brilliantly technical but so musical with it. But what he does best is shown at 4.20...just driving the rhythm like no one else can do. Uber class.
Yes, oh God.
Unreal David!
I recorded a lot of my stuff next door to a school and every time I hit record the kids would magically have a p.e. class or something. Feel your pain man. Epic reaction videos. I'm about a dozen in 👋🤝🇮🇪
Despite totally locking down the groove at 5:21 he is aware enough to notice and make a small change to his hi-hat without skipping a beat. Being able to react seamlessly to something unexpected in the middle of playing just goes to show how much of a natural he is - so much spare mental capacity while playing a very technical piece.
